Omg dude, i have a bachellors degree in architecture!! but im unsure and wanted to try graphic design because ive always loved it, I have an intermediate knowledge in photoshop and illustrator and other programs but my question is, this portfolio the firm got u in with, what did it include?

Heeyy archistudent high five!!  That’s great you already know your way around photoshop and illustrator, and you will get faster the more you use them so keep building on that.  My portfolio had a lot of illustration-leaning pieces since that’s what I knew how to do having not had a real design education.  I had full standalone illustrations, storyboard sequences (I’m the story artist 50% of the time), and some graphic info pieces.  I’m not sure if these things make up a traditional graphic designer role since every firm is different depending on size, who they cater to, etc.  I also used some projects I had done in architecture school because graphic design is really about conveying info in cool and unique ways, which you know pretty well too was a huge part of architecture presentations.  Pulling design techniques I had used in studio helped me find my way in an area of art that I knew I liked but was feeling kind of lost in.

((See my last post before reading))

After some days out of the world (even if I was forced to go to school) I’ve rested my mind for a while… I’ve been trying to forget stuff and find new ways to keep going on. I’ve been through some rough depression these last days and I won’t be as happy and active as I used to be weeks ago for some more days… I’ve been feeling empty.. since he left .. I couldn’t stop thinking about all those cuddles and kisses I will never be able to feel again… but I’m trying to keep my mind busy studying, going on long walks with my dog, drawing… but it’s just so difficult. .
It’s not my first break up, I’ve dated 4 people before him, but this was the most painful breakup ever and I don’t want to feel nothing similar ever again…
My parents knew I was feeling down so I had to tell them about it, they actually treated me really well this last days.. (my mom even bought me some chocolates haha)
And about my dream career problem… I actually found some other ways to study what I want even if it is not in an Arts University. I found some places (in Spain, I’m not going to study aboard) in which I can course a Superior Design and Illustration Grade. To enter this Grades, I don’t need high notes on what I’m studying now, I will just have to do an access exam. The program in those Grades looks actually ok, and its more specialicied in what I want to work as and what I most enjoy of art.
If this comes true, will be studying far away from home and I’m really happy about that. I need to get out of this place and build a new life. Of course I will miss a LOT my friends, and probably also my parents, but I know I will be able to visit them as much as I can.
What I need now is to get at least 60% of the grades in all my exams in order to finish Bachellor (12nd grade) and I will be finally free.

But what helped me most cheerng me up… it was you, guys.
Really, ..I couldn’t believe it when I opened tumblr and instagram after this hiatus week… +600 comments on instagram and +300 asks and fanmails on tumblr. You are the most amazing and sweetest people alive and I’m so lucky to have such great followers and fans (aaaa I don’t feel confortable at all saying “fans” but thats how some of you call yourselves.. :’> )
I almost cried with every message (you guys are evil ;__; jk,jk) I know this will sound so cheesy but aaaa you filled my heart and gave me reasons to keep going on, so…I owe you all, thank you so much.

And for the ones who also commented that they were living a similar situation like mine… look,… I felt worthess but I managed to stay strong , I’ve been trough depression but now I’m leving it, I’ve only failed at the self harm… but I’ve made it. And if I, the most oversensitive motherfucker on earth, could make this, you can also do it, and without self mutilation and that shit (It will only make other people worry more and we don’t want that), I believe in you.

So yep, I’m back~ (( sorry for making you guys worry because I didn’t post anything these days to prove you that I was still alive ))

(Sorry for typos/bad grammar)
