babies and their skills

cute animal facts to cheer you up:
  • cats “headbutt” people because they make them feel safe, or they trust them.
  • when puppies play fight, boy puppies will often let girl puppies win.
  • the grizzly bear’s name comes from the word “grizzled” which means ‘streaked with gray hair’.
  • wombat poo is cube-shaped to stop it from rolling away…
  • dogs will sneeze to tell other dogs that they’re playing, so when they’re playing rough it doesn’t turn into a fight.
  • gray squirrels bury nuts all over the place, and often forget them, growing new trees. this makes them more ecologically friendly than red squirrels, who store nuts in piles on the ground which don’t take root.
  • infant pygmy marmosets babble to develop their language skills, similarly to the way human babies babble.
  • two-toed sloths cannot shiver to stay warm like other mammals due to their low metabolic rates and little muscle tissue.
  • yawning is infectious because it supplies a method for the most sleepy to forcefully communicate their need for rest and thus ensures that the group rests/sleeps together.
  • baby dolphins have spines on the sides of their tongue. the spines zip up to make a straw so that they can drink the mother’s milk without getting salt water in it.
  • when a rabbit is happy it will sometimes jump in the air twist it’s body. this is called a binky.
  • the red panda uses its long bushy tail not only for balance, but also as a blanket during chilly winter nights.
  • baby japanese macaques make snowballs. they do not use them for any survival purposes, they just like to have fun.
  • manatee calves nurse underwater from teats under their mothers flippers.
  • baby elephants will suck their own trunks for comfort.

Somebody said you got a new friend
Does she love you better than I can?

And yeah, I know it’s stupid
But I just gotta see it for myself

I’m in the corner, watching you kiss her, oh oh oh
And I’m right over here, why can’t you see me, oh oh oh
And I’m giving it my all, but I’m not the guy you’re taking home, ooh
I keep dancing on my own

I just wanna dance all night
And I’m all messed up, I’m so out of line
Stilettos and broken bottles
I’m spinning around in circles
And I’m giving it my all, but I’m not the guy you’re taking home, ooh
I keep dancing on my own

And oh no
So far away but still so near
The lights come up, the music dies

But you don’t see me standing here
I just came to say goodbye
I’m in the corner, watching you kiss her, oh

And I’m giving it my all, but I’m not the guy you’re taking home, ooh
I keep dancing on my own
And oh no
Sit down in the corner, watching you kiss her, oh no
And I’m right over here, why can’t you see me, oh no
And I’m giving it my all, but I’m not the guy you’re taking home, ooh
I keep dancing on my own

So far away, but still so near
The lights come up, the music dies
But you don’t see me standing here

Reasons why I liked Storks

-diverse families (same sex/single parents/mixed race/etc)
-there’s a baby whose name is ‘Diamond Destiny’ and she was literally born with martial arts skills and pink hair
-^like half the babies had blue/pink/green hair
-wolf voltron/transformers
-even the WOLVES were gay I mean omg
-shows that it doesn’t matter what gender child you wanted, you should still love them for who they are
-friends are also family
-the parenting jokes
-the pigeon
-shows that 'falling in love’ doesn’t always mean romance

Leverage is one of my favorite TV shows and one of the reasons is that the women in the show are actually adults. The younger woman is in her late twentys and even though she is portrayed as autistic she is still treated like an adult. They don’t baby her, she is extremely skilled and respected in her feild, and the show does an amazing job of showing that even though she is learning to understand and interact with people in a healthier way that she is not a “child”. She is a fully grown woman. The other woman is in her late 30s- early 40s and is still portrayed as a beautiful and desirable woman. She is single and in an on - off relationship with another character and there are no comments about her needing to settle down or needing to find a man before she becomes an old spinster. Leverage is a great show and you should all check it out.

My 7 month old kitten loves playing with water - not necessarily getting wet but he seems to love the reflections of light and the sound. He runs to the bathroom if he hears the water running and splashes in his water bowl constantly! It’s mostly harmless and cute except when he tries to play in the toilet. 😝

That’s so cute! Since play allows baby animals to practice adult skills, I wonder if some part of this is him practicing a fishing behavior.

everyone’s like “baby!damian!!!” but I’m so here for dad!dami headcanons…. consider:

-dami buying his children donuts whenever he upsets them even a little bit on patrol because he doesn’t know how to apologize
-his kids totally playing him for said donuts
-awkward dad relationships where he wants to date someone but is afraid of hurting his kids
-armani golf shirts
-“habibi”
-cute forehead kisses because he’s so fucking tall
-dad jokes with swearing tacked on the end
-him probably thinking its a smart idea to give coffee to a 6 year old
-sass that spans generations
-a villain going after Batman thru his kids and no one seeing them ever again
-“uncle dick”
-dami loving his children so much it physically pains people around him
-wallet of baby photos as essential as his pocket knife
-does he stop the riot in arkham or go to the 4th grade art show?? find out in the next issue of batdad
