Volvo Buses Malaysia launches new chassis range
Volvo Buses Malaysia launched its new chassis range for the local market consisting of the B7R and B11R, this morning.
The new chassis is expected to become the brand’s offer of its best solutions for next generation public transport and travel in Malaysia.
The B7R and B11R is designed for efficient, safe and profitable demand, demands that the company said in currently enjoying increased demand in the country.
“The launch of this chassis range is a significant advancement in the operations of Volvo Malaysia. It also underscored our commitment and deep interest to play an even more active participation in the country’s public transportation industry,” said Volvo Malaysia Managing Director Mats Nilsson.
He said with Malaysia’s aiming to become a high-income nation by 2020, many development projects will be initiated and as such, the number of vehicles and the population will increase, also increasing traffic congestion.
“This is where increasingly reliable bus services with stellar fuel efficiency and safety technologies will become an even more important facility for city dwellers that rely on public transportation of ease of mobility,” he added.
Both these chassis are equipped with Volvo’s characteristics and will be offered with Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and its Electronically-controlled Braking System (EBS), integrated retarder, Volvo Engine Braking, 4 disc brakes and separate front and rear brake air circuits for maximum safety.

Safety is not only encompassed in our products but is also incorporated in our entire production, supply, aftersales and value chain,” said Volvo Buses Malaysia Country Manager M. Muralli.
He added that these chassis are being locally assembled in the Volvo Malaysia facility in Shah Alam, with the company working with several coach builders in Malaysia who meet the strict Volvo requirements.
Currently, the company has 11 dealerships across Malaysia and also provides round-the-clock road assistance in cases of breakdowns.
There will also be a choice of transmissions offered; Volvo’s legendary i-Shift 12-speed gearbox, 6-speed automated manual and, 4-speed and 6-speed automatic transmissions that would be mated to the 290bhp 7.1-litre, in-line 6-cylinder and the 330bhp to 450bhp in-line 6-cylinder power plants.
