ax end

some stuff that I love/think is neat in The Wizard of Oz book, that was left out of the movie/almost every re-make

Don’t get me wrong, I really like the 1939 movie cause it’s colorful and pretty, the songs are awesome, and it’s a hollywood classic. However, these are just some things that I loved in the book, but everyone ignores since they weren’t in the 1939 version.

In the book she’s a very little girl, around 8-10, and I always liked that, and I’ll always see her as a little girl. Judy Garland was a really good Dorothy, but she was still a teenager. I know it was made over 70 years ago but I still think they should have cast Shirley Temple like they were planning.

The witches:

In the original book, The good witch of the north, and Glinda the good with of the south, are two different characters. The witch of the north is the one who gives Dorothy the silver slippers, and all she knows is that they’re magic. It’s Glinda who comes in at the end and tells Dorothy she can use them to get home. It makes a whole lot more sense than Glinda knowing what they can do the whole time.(Also I really like Wicked and want to see it live eventually, but in my mind it’s basically it’s own thing)

Nick Chopper:

The tin woodsman has a backstory! A really good one that ties in with the rest of the story. He used to be a regular man named Nick Chopper and he was engaged to a munchkin girl, but the lady who the girl worked for didn’t want her to get married. So she made a deal with the witch of the east and she enchanted his axe. His axe ended up cutting off each of his limbs but he was helped out by Ku-Klip the tinsmith and he kept replacing his limbs. Eventually the axe cut off everything and he became the tin woodsman. He was so upset that he didn’t have a heart anymore that he felt like he couldn’t love his fiancee without one.

His backstory is really cool and (won’t apologize for the pun) heartbreaking. It’s lame to me that it’s never really used, and it’s a shame because it gives him motivation to want a heart again.

The Kalidahs:

These are super horrifying beasts that live in the Kalidah forest, and they litteraly kill and eat anything they can. I see people adding in a lot of beasts and characters into Oz to make it more scary and grown up, and I don’t see why you’d do that but leave these guys out. The run in with them is how we learn that The Cowardly Lion has courage, because he crosses a log bridge to get away from them even though he’s scared.

The Emerald City isn’t made of Emerald:

Okay so this is way easier to do in a book or black and white comic than it is to do in a movie or tv show. But, in the book before anyone can see inside the city, they need to put on green glasses so the brightness of the emeralds won’t “hurt their eyes”. Then at the end when we find out about the Wizard, they take the glasses off and they(and the audience) learns that like the Wizard, the whole city is a sham. It’s not made of emerald, it’s all just white and plain. That part of the book had a really great lesson to /litteraly/ not look at the world through rose colored glasses. It’s probably one of my favorite things that get left out.

Ozma and Dorothy are gay as hell:

Lookit these lesbians. Bein lesbian… Ozma(a cannon trans girl btw) doesn’t come into the picture until later books, and it takes a few years for Dorothy to come back to Oz but lookit these 1900s gays in these official illustrations.

Oh, and Dorothy and the gang get rescued from the poppy field by a gang of field mice this is their queen:

Anyway, I do like the movie, and I love the Muppets version since they got a lot from the books. I just wish there was an adaptation that used the cannon stuff that’s neat instead of trying waaaayyyy hard to not be the 1939 movie. But it seems like the adaptations are just adaptations of the movie and don’t take anything from the books. Cause L Frank Baum wrote 14 of them with trolls, wheelers, frankenstein monsters, princesses, endless deserts where if any part of you touches it you turn to sand, more witches, sky fairies, and most importantly lesbian princess girlfriends!

the signs as questionable lessons i learned rewatching “teen titans”
  • ARIES: “Don’t judge a book by its cover. Or by its content, either. In fact, you should just never judge books, period, because if you read any of them, ever, you’re probably being manipulated by an evil dragon-wizard.” (“Spellbound” — season 3, ep 6.)
  • TAURUS: “If you ever get separated from your friends in an unfamiliar environment, don’t go looking for them because it will probably get you killed. Instead, stay where you are and get the royal treatment from small creatures who worship you for simply existing.” (“Stranded” — season 4, ep 8.)
  • GEMINI: “Life lessons are totally pointless. Let’s just go get pizza?” (“Episode 297-494, OR: Don’t Touch That Dial” — season 4, ep 1.)
  • CANCER: “Always pay attention to your friends, or else they will be kidnapped by aliens and turned into pets.” (“Every Dog Has His Day” — season 2, ep 2.)
  • LEO: “When facing insurmountable odds, the best plans are hope and the power of friendship. But if you can’t make those work on your own, then magic, explosives, and giant axes are fine.” (“The End, pt. 3” — season 4, ep 13.)
  • VIRGO: “You should always do research into what foods are good and bad for your pets, or they will grow to enormous size and be turned into adorable murder-beasts by supervillains.” (“Can I Keep Him?”— season 3, ep 10.)
  • LIBRA: “When you’re scared, don’t repress your feelings or else you will make horrific eldritch monsters manifest themselves and try to kill your friends.” (“Fear Itself”— season 2, ep 5.)
  • SCORPIO: “Taking a new person in your life to prom and holding your city hostage with giant bugs of doom will probably get you punched in the face. But it will also make your datemate feel sorry that they dumped you, so it’s probably worth it.” (“Date With Destiny” — season 2, ep 6.)
  • SAGITTARIUS: “All you need to succeed in life is friendship, enthusiasm, and occasionally weaponized flying squirrels.” (“Revolution” — season 3, ep 7.)
  • CAPRICORN: “Digital piracy is evil and implicating your friends in it will make them hallucinate, attempt to eat stop signs and destroy all computers in a 100-mile radius, and think you are a talking pineapple.” (“Crash” — season 3, ep 4.)
  • AQUARIUS: “If your boss has trouble learning your name and doesn’t answer all of your questions, all the time, it’s probably because they’re actually sentient super-powered tofu from outer space.” (“Employee Of The Month” — season 4, ep 5.)
  • PISCES: “If your older sibling ever gives you presents and starts being nice to your friends, it’s probably because they’re trying to ruin your life. Also, they’re probably an intergalactic criminal now, or something.” (“Sisters” — season 1, ep 2.)

got to sit back & wind down with some good ol’ Horror doing his own dental work with an axe at the end of the stream today!

@sour-apple-studios has by far come up with the most inspirational Sans to me! Horror is just such a phenomenally fun and grotesque concept that motivates me endlessly and inspired a lot of what goes on in this blog just by his concept alone! *le sigh* Such a cool Sans. There’s so much freedom to his look. I wanna get that kind of freedom I feel drawing Horror but in the Cursetale comic. (I have a plan how, but it’s yet to be implemented ( =u=)b successfully, I hope!)

I keep thinking about a modern Animorphs AU and I’m so in love with it
It honestly has so much fun potential and I could go on forever about it, but here are just a few headcanons I have:

  • He just doesn’t Get social media
  • Marco’s always telling him to update his profiles more, but he never does
  • Only really goes on facebook and the occasional forum or chatroom
  • Most of his posts are Marco tagging him in things
  • Him and Tom would play video games a lot together, and Jake still tries to get him to play more
  • Jake usually just resorts to going to Marco’s house
  • Probably has a very dad-like phone case for his smartphone
  • Marco and Rachel make fun of him for it
  • Likes really outdated memes (Marco groans in the distance)
  • Someone please help this child

  • Gets in trouble for wearing crop tops at school
  • Has an aesthetic blog on tumblr
  • Lives on Instagram and pintrest
  • Her room looks like something straight off of pintrest
  • Watches so many beauty vloggers on youtube
  • Secretly wants to start her own beauty channel, but knows that she can’t being an animorph
  • Sends Cassie beauty and fashion hacks and tutorials all the time with the hope that she’ll get into it
  • It doesn’t, but she still does it

  • Spends a majority of his life online
  • Stays up until 3am on school nights going through reddit
  • The pirate KING
  • Has folders filled with illegally downloaded music and movies and anime
  • As a hawk, one of the animorphs brings him a tablet to use in the forest
  • He shows Ax anime
  • This was a bad idea
  • Everyone thinks he’s really tech savvy but mostly he’s just really good at googling things

  • He owns so many video games and different consoles oh my god
  • He always invites Jake over to play
  • Spends his nights trolling online
  • This boy is the absolute meme king (But let’s face it, that’s not even a headcanon. We all know this.)
  • He always sends Jake memes and funny posts he finds
  • Just take this moment to imagine Marco sending Jake cursed images or out of context gifs and saying “this is you”
  • Posts selfies c o n s t a n t l y
  • Literally all of his selfies have all these filters and he does all the stereotypical douche poses
  • Probably posts at least one selfie a day and brags when it gets liked
  • Jake always likes out of pity
  • Tries to grow his hair out for a man bun because the ladies will love it
  • Rachel tells him this is not the case. He ignores her

  • She’s had the same smartphone for the longest time
  • Honestly the only reason she has a smartphone is because Rachel finally convinced her to join modern life
  • The screen is incredibly cracked because she keeps dropping it while working with the animals
  • Like Jake, she doesn’t really get social media, either
  • She follows so many animal pages on facebook though
  • She just doesn’t get internet humor
  • Sometimes she thinks she gets it, but she never does
  • Rachel and Marco die a little bit on the inside every time Cassie brings up something she found online because it’s always old and outdated jokes and memes
  • Jake always laughs though
  • Accidentally liked an old picture of Jake once
  • She texted Rachel frantically asking her what to do
  • Rachel was dying
  • Honestly Jake probably didn’t even notice. He was just happy Cassie liked one of his pictures

  • Marco showed him a meme once. He had no idea what the point of it was, but now he won’t stop trying to reference memes. Marco regrets his decision. Tobias tries to help him understand memes more. It’s a lost cause. Ax now brings up memes at the worst possible times.
  • Remember how I said Tobias showed him anime. Ax loves anime.
  • He ends up getting into quite a few of them and sits in the forest draining the battery of their electronics
  • He doesn’t even need subtitles because of his translator chip
  • Tobias gets frustrated because every time a new episode of the anime they’re watching comes out, Ax watches it before him and is really bad with spoilers
  • Scoffs at touch screens (“You need to use a screen to touch? A hologram would be much easier.”)
  • Marco insists on setting up a facebook profile for Ax’s human morph because he thinks not having a facebook in modern day might make controllers suspect him
  • Now imagine Marco helping Ax take selfies for his new profile
  • Words cannot even begin to describe that shipwreck
  • The other animorphs cannot stop laughing at how ridiculous his pictures are

Something I've always wondered: how practical are throwing knives/axes in a fight? What's to prevent them from spinning too fast/too slow and hitting with the non-bladed end?

Throwing axes are fairly practical. At least, they saw a fair amount of use historically. They’re light weight, and easy enough to train on, but still retain enough mass to do considerable damage on impact.

Throwing knives are more of a novelty trick. They lack the mass of an axe, and are a lot more finicky to connect with. You can throw them, but it’s not a great option.

Spin speed is controlled by the thrower. Really, this one is that simple. It’s a skill they need to practice. As I said earlier, knife throwing is trickier. It’s very easy to screw that up and accidentally connect with the hilt, if you don’t know what you’re doing. In contrast, axe throwing is fairly easy. On contact, the mass of the head will do most of the work for you, so even botching a throw so the haft connects first will usually result in a hit (somewhere). Ideally, with an axe, you want the weapon to make one complete rotation in air, and connect head first.

Expanded Weapons List 5e

Broadsword: This stout, wide-bladed weapon lacks the accuracy of a longsword, but what it lacks in accuracy, it redeems with deadliness.

Craghammer: This dwarven hammer has a heavily weighted head, making it resemble a one-handed maul backed by a deadly spike.

Double Axe: Fitted with an axe head at each end, a double axe offers increased offensive and defensive capabilities.

Double Flail: This weapon has a spiked flail head at either end to maximize attack and damage.

Double Sword: This well-balanced weapon combines the deadliness of two longswords with increased defensive capability.

Execution Axe: This broad-bladed axe is heavily weighted for greater hewing power.

Fullblade: This enormous, two-handed sword is favored by fighters and paladins.

Greatbow: This massive, recurved bow stands as tall as a human when strung, and it fires arrows with greater power than a traditional longbow.

Greatspear: This reach weapon resembles a longspear, but its broad head and strong haft allow it to strike with increased force.

Heavy War Pick: This larger version of the light war pick delivers devastating strikes.

Khopesh: This sturdy weapon is identified by the crescent-shaped curve at the end of its blade.

Kukri: The blade of this heavy knife curves forward for greater potency. A rogue proficient with the kukri can treat it as a dagger for the purpose of the Rogue Weapon Talent class feature.

Light War Pick: This smaller version of the war pick is suitable as an off-hand weapon.

Mordenkrad: First used by dwarf shock troops in battle against giants, this oversized two-handed hammer has a massive head studded with spikes.

Parrying Dagger: This narrow dagger features a specially designed guard that can deflect attacks. A rogue proficient with the parrying dagger can treat it as a dagger for the purpose of the Rogue Weapon Talent class feature.

Repeating Crossbow: A rectangular magazine attaches to the top of this crossbow. A double-action lever drops a bolt into place as a free action, then fires it as a standard action. A repeating crossbow does not need to be reloaded as long as it has ammunition in its magazine. A magazine costs 1 gp and holds 10 bolts. It takes a standard action to remove an empty magazine and load a new one.

Spiked Gauntlet: These gauntlets are specially fitted with metal spikes. Unlike other weapons, the spiked gauntlet occupies your magic item hands slot while enchanted.

Scourge: This lightweight flail has leather thongs inlaid with sharpened bits of metal or bone.

Spiked Shield: This light shield is constructed with a sharpened spike at its center. A spiked shield can be enchanted as a magic shield or a magic weapon, but not both. A spiked shield enchanted as a magic weapon does not occupy a character’s magic item arms slot. Although a character cannot use two shields at the same time, a character wielding a spiked shield enchanted as a weapon can employ arms slot items such as bracers.

Superior Crossbow: This crossbow appears similar to a traditional crossbow, but it has knobs and dials that allow the weapon to be fine-tuned for greater accuracy.

Tratnyr: Also known as the wingspear, this weapon was first crafted by the dragonborn for maximum efficiency in melee and ranged combat.

Trident: This three-tined spear is weighted for throwing over short distances.

Triple-headed Flail: This oversized flail has three heads for more potent attacks.

Urgrosh: Originally of dwarven make, this weapon has a heavy axe head at one end (dealing d12 damage) and a sharp spear point at the base of the haft (dealing d8 damage).

Waraxe: This weapon’s superior balance allows it to be wielded in one hand.

@freaky-zombie-chick submitted:  ((This short story is pretty much feeding my own ship FreakyHorror, Axe and my zombie OC Freaky, and I wanted to share it. I tried to go with the similar writing as I did before. Warning: slight sin and some horror.))

It started with a coffee drink. She was first to buy him a hot cup of espresso that cold morning. Then he returned the favored by buying her an ice mocha the next time they met around lunchtime. This went back and forth for them till the word coffee was a code name for sex.

And that’s how he ended up back at her place.

The house finally fell silent after two good hours of screaming and shouting, and a whole of growling and grunting in their love making. He was proven oh so wrong on how much she moaned out his name. Granted she was undead, zombie to be correct. But she wasn’t like the rotting type he’s seen in movies and a popular TV show. No she looked normal if you didn’t look for the details.

She fell asleep after a while, her back towards him and her hair out off to the side.

His single eye light focused on every aspect of her. He can see her bruises around her neck started to heal. His phalanges gripped hard and tight around different parts of her body, seeing what sounds she’ll make. But her hold was just as strong as his. When he sank his shark teeth into her upper thigh, he swore her grip on his ribs was about to snap them right off, and then again when her kisses around his neck vertebra went down to his collar bone. The skeleton can still feel the slight pain of his collar bone from her love bite.

They were both aggressive and strong in their own rights. But she was the one to yield down and let him be the dominate one for this night. His clawing, biting, and bruising on her skin and full curves were healing. That answered some of his questions but opened so much more.

But something else had gotten to him that nearly drove him over the edge.

It was a certain scent. It smelled similar to his tool shed back underground, his weapon of choice was covered in it, his brother’s cooking filled the fridge, and even on his unwashed clothing. The skeleton smelled it when entered her home and again when they were close. He smelled it on her bare skin and even in the sheets. The scent was hidden, masked by her perfume and bleach. It was faint but he was confident of it.

It was the stench of dead humans.

He would be lying to himself if he didn’t admit he loved that scent on her naked body.

The zombie moved to lie on her back, away from him. She was still sleeping.

That’s when he got up and looked for the source. And he found it.

The basement is where the scent was coming from. Old habits die hard. The monster entered and used his magic to turn on the light switch. The room was clean and spotless of any mess, but his single eye light wasn’t on that. No, it was focused on the shelving on the wall. The jars were labeled by date.

Each jar held a brain. Some even had part of the spinal cord still attached to the organ.

“I like to keep them in their spinal fluid if I can. It makes the brain taste better.” She said behind him.

They faced each other in silence. Her foggy eyes looked right at his single eye light. It glowed brightly in defense, the only sign he gave her. He can see her blood veins getting dark near her eyes, a sign of a challenge.

Her smile broke the heavy tension.

“Since we’re both awake, would you like some coffee?”

He smiled right back at her, his index and middle phalanges gripped the rim of his hallow eye socket, tugging slightly.

“sure, why not.”

The coffee tasted the same as always, but the meaning behind it was different. It was a peace offering and answers, and she did just that. She explained and he understood. They had rules and secrets now. They won’t question any further unless they had too.

And as before, coffee was the code name for sex.

I love the goddess Athena's myth because it's basically
  • Hephaestus: wouldn't you rather take some aspirin or
  • Hephaestus: *hits him in the head with an axe and a fully grown woman springs from his head screaming a battle cry*
