awkward high school girls

To the high school graduates ...

Here is something I wrote a few years ago that is still quite applicable, especially re:Hot Pocket™ safety.

Hello, high school graduates! All of you are likely close to collapsing under the weight of well meaning old-people’s advice, which for the past few months has piled up like so much smug, well-meaning snow. Allow me to add my own dusting.

1. Leave high school behind you, now. Whether you were the most devastatingly cool guy in all of McNary High School or the most excruciatingly awkward girl at Sprague, once you leave high school, no one will know. Or, more importantly, care. Most really cool people who do interesting, creative things with their lives didn’t have super happy high school careers. Many really cool people had great high school experiences. But any reasonably cool person over the age of 19 knows that what you earned, or endured, in high school has zero bearing on who you are the day you graduate. I know. It seems SO IMPORTANT now. But … it’s not. Not even a little.

2. Manners count, and they’re free. You can get away with murder if you do it politely, because whoever expects a polite murderer? Manners make other people feel comfortable and happy and respected, and when people feel comfortable, happy and respected they are 8,000 percent more likely to let you get your way.

Say please, thank you, excuse me, it was so nice to meet you, hope I see you again soon. Whatever you do, send thank-you notes so people are inclined to keep doing nice things for you.

3. Chew with your mouth closed. In fact, sometime when you’re alone, go sit in front of a mirror and watch yourself eat, then make any necessary adjustments now before it becomes a permanent habit.

4. If people expect you to go to college, but you’re not super-excited about it, skip a year and work before you head off. It’s not the end of the world, and it doesn’t make you a failure. That time is too expensive and too precious to use on something you’re half-assed about. Also, I speak from experience — folding jeans at a store in the mall for minimum wage for a few months made me feel very differently about how tedious and mindless sitting through a lecture class feels.

5. Unkindness, from here on out, becomes less and less attractive. Cruelty is one of the four main currencies of high school, along with attractiveness, athletic ability and actual currency provided by your parents (I see you, West Salem kids!). In high school, a profoundly mediocre person can rule — or at least maintain a position at the periphery of the popular kids’ group — through fear.

But once you get into college, you begin to leave that b.s. behind you. You don’t have to be mean to be funny. You don’t have to be mean to disagree with someone. You don’t have to be mean to someone powerless to prove your power. All meanness showcases is that you have ugly internal architecture. And as the facades that were so important in high school fade, that is what others will see when they look at you.

6. Know which classes you have to go to, and which ones can be skipped in lieu of more important things. Yes, if you want to go to Harvard Law or John Hopkins Med, you need to ace all your impossibly difficult classes. But if you want to do something post-college that doesn’t involve grad school — if you want to work in non-profits, if you want to write for a paper, if you want to do public relations, if you want to run a business — then instead, look for ways that you can get those experiences in college.

Join extracurriculars that mimic the experiences you someday want to get paid for. If you hate doing it for free, then chances are you’ll resent it even when you get paid for it. Also, this way, when you graduate college, you can prove to employers that you did something, not just wrote compelling papers on the metaphysical nature of being.

7. If you’re a person for whom the hooking up thing doesn’t work, then don’t do it. College is a time of lots and lots of casual sex. This, I think, plays pretty well into what many — not all, but many — 18-year-old guys want, and terribly into what most — not all, but most — 18-year-old girls want. Know what you want, and don’t feel bad if that’s not in line with what someone else wants. Also, know that after freshman year, people begin to date again rather than just drunkenly coupling and uncoupling.

8. Freshman year, you can and should be friends with everyone. Sophomore year will tell who is actually worth keeping.

9. After you microwave a Hot Pocket, be sure to gently tug open the end and let the steam out, and wait a couple minutes, because there is nothing more painful than a Hot Pocket steam-and-molten-cheese burn to the top of the mouth.

10. Don’t tell the internet too much about your love life, or deep innermost feelings, or secrets. It’s none of the Internet’s business, but the Internet has a big mouth and a long, long memory. Make good friends, and tell them in person when you hang out in each other’s dorm rooms and watch movies and eat Funfetti frosting straight out of the jar. Do this a lot. It doesn’t seem important, but it is.

A Lie A Day

Summary: High School!AU where you’re a socially awkward, shy girl who likes resident bad boy Jeon Jungkook. However, there’s more to this story than meets the eye.
Idol: Jeon Jungkook of BTS
Word Count: 1250
Warnings: None

He wasn’t real. He was just a dream. A beautiful dream that you could never reach.

“If you keep staring, you’ll burn a hole through his head,” Chanmi whispers as she leans over.

You quickly look away, blushing, and nod a small thanks to her. She softly smiles and strokes your hair.

“Just talk to him, honey.” Of course she would be fine with saying that. She was beautiful, intelligent, graceful Chanmi. Talking to him would be no problem. But you and him were on different levels. The mere thought of talking to him was absurd.

Why does Prompto get portrayed like he's a bad boy figure?

I haven’t been able to figure this one out. I see people treat him like the “bad influence” type or “up to no good.” He isn’t either of these. He started off as a sweet, loner kid who kept to himself. Had zero confidence in himself. Had a soft spot for animals. He tried to connect with Noctis early on but didn’t go as planned. Got into shape and finally had the confidence to approach the prince and make friends with him (which by the way we all know Noctis was searching for this too as he used to wait for Prompto to show up again. And recognized him as teenagers). They hung out at arcades and shared food with each other. I don’t buy that Prompto would entice Noctis to go gaming over studies as Noctis was top of his class and Noctis probably wanted a brain break and it was his idea to go to the arcade. And if my best friend was royalty I might ask that exams be outlawed too. That’s as much as we get from Brotherhood. In the game we see he’s a jokester and laid back but nothing that screams bad boy. Even the whole skirt chaser bit…He has a crush in Cindy and momentarily wonders about Aranea but that ended quickly. Honestly I think that was about him wanting to be liked….Again his confidence issues. It’s possible he didn’t do well with girls in high school. He probably was awkward and clumsy around them and may have second guessed whether a girl was trying to use him to get to Noctis and again taking a stab at his confidence. So where is the bad boy coming from because I don’t see it??

Hitch a Ride Part 2. (Katlaska) - Vixen

So Im not sure if anyone other than me really wanted a sequel to Hitch a Ride (which you can find here) but  I really love this fic tbh, its one of my favourites. Id like to give a shout-out to Boleyn, who sent me the loveliest message which completely inspired me and brought me out my little funk. You prompted me to write a fic for Vixen, and this is it really. As always, let me know what you think either here or on my sideblog. Hope you enjoy reading as much as I did writing it -Vixen.

just saw this:

and felt curious to do a side by side of past me and current me. not saying i “longbottomed” (lol at that phrase), but i’d never actually compared in this way before. i was kind of afraid to share, but doing it anyway.

oof, i was a mess lol. glad to report i am slightly less frizzy and broken out… and much less grungy lol.

this though is in part why i am still working on positive self image and good self-esteem. a lot of times i still feel like that insecure, awkward, goofy, uncomfortable girl on the left. back then, and into high school, i was made fun of a lot for my skin, my nose, my hair, and even my weight at times… it wasn’t great and it definitely had an impact on me.

still working on all this, on acknowledging my strengths and working on things i want to change without letting weaknesses discourage or bog me down.

sharing this also in part for anyone who feels down on themselves. may you find confidence & may your beauty radiate just by being yourself.

here’s to finding our confidence from within, to not letting the opinions of others negatively impact us, to standing tall, to allowing ourselves to be who we are and loving ourselves, to being gentle with ourselves & much less critical, to letting our inner light shine out into the world.

Face to Face.

“Only one week away! You excited?”

“Will you promise to wear that pink dress when I see you :) “

“Can I make a sign with your name haha”

Those were just a few of the many Twitter messages Neymar had sent to my DMs over the past few months, all relating to us finally seeing each other in person. It was weird at first flirting with a guy I had yet to meet in person but he soon got rid of those fears for me and made me feel comfortable. We talked at least a few times a week over Twitter and he had made sure to like every picture I posted on Instagram, even a few older pictures before we even began to speak with each other.

And now that the Olympics were here I was not only nervous for my performance but to finally meet him. My teammate Sydni was forced to hear about my nervousness as we walked the track warming up.

“What if he meets me and he’s not as impressed? What if I look different in person to him?” I spewed quickly only causing Sydni to laugh.

“You look exactly the same. Trust me. What if he walks in with one of those awkward haircuts he gets? That’s something to be nervous about,” she continued to laugh, causing me to as well as I playfully hit her arm.

“He’s cute no matter what his hair looks like,” I responded.

“So what are you two going to do while we’re in Rio? Is there a special date planned?”

“No. I don’t really want the media putting us together, you know? I’m surprised they haven’t been on us for liking each other’s pictures. I’m just hoping we’ll run into each other at the right place and right time.” She nodded in agreement to what I said as we continued walking.

“We’re all probably in the same hotel. Get his room number or something.”

“What?! Who do you think I am? I can’t just meet up with him in his hotel room the first time we meet. He’ll think I’m some slut or something.”

“But it’ll be a fun night!” Sydni was always my one friend encouraging me to be adventurous and less shy. She was the reason I had been so forward in my conversations with Ney but that was behind a screen. I didn’t know if I could back up my talk in person. What if I got too nervous?

“I guess…” I mumbled.

We had finished up our exercising for the day, getting ourselves pumped up for the official start tomorrow and were now entering our hotel. There were large amounts of people around from all over the world who played different sports chatting it up in the lobby including Neymar. Seeing him in person for the first time caused me to lose my breath. Here I was in a Nike tank and running shorts and he was in front of me looking far too good to be seen with me.

No matter how bad I thought I looked I still wanted him to see me but it seemed his eyes wouldn’t leave the girl’s eyes in front of him as they chatted and laughed it up. We hadn’t even met up yet and he was occupied. I searched my bag quickly for my phone and pulled it out to see if he had messaged me on Twitter today.

Sydni noticed my look of disappointment and grabbed me by the shoulders as she stood behind me.

“Go up and say something!” she urged. But I couldn’t get my feet to move towards him. I didn’t want it to be awkward with me walking up to him.

“Pass. I’m going to go up to my room.” I looked to him one more time and then continued my walk to the stairs so I could head to the eighth floor where my room was. Most would probably call me a punk for not taking my chance to say hi to the guy I had been speaking to for months and that was true. I was. We had talked as if we were best friends but I was worried I wouldn’t be the same once we spoke face to face.

Me and Sydni parted ways once she got to her room and I headed to my own, unlocking my door with the hotel key and throwing my bag to the floor immediately once I got inside and shut the door behind me. Only a few minutes passed before my phone buzzed with a Twitter DM.

So you’re not gonna say hi??

My heartbeat quickened as soon as I read it. He saw me. I kept my fingers hovering over the keyboard to try and think of what to say.

You seemed busy

Yeah sure. What’s your room #?

I nearly dropped my phone to the floor thinking he was trying to come up here right now. I was not fit to meet him like this but at the same time I didn’t want to keep him waiting incase he got busy soon.

813. You’re coming up here?

I dropped my phone to my bed and ran into the bathroom to check myself in the mirror. I had thankfully showered already but I sprayed myself with perfume a few times just to make sure I smelled good. I readjusted my messy ponytail and grabbed a cloth to wash my face. I was taken off guard to hear a knock on my door. I would have thought he’d message me back first but I guess not.

I took my time walking to my door, the nerves starting to creep up. They didn’t calm down as I opened the door but the smile I saw on his face made me smile as well.

“Hey! Finally we get to see each other since someone didn’t want to speak.” He smirked and let himself inside.

“I told you you looked busy and plus I didn’t want it to be awkward.” I shut the door and headed inside behind him. Neymar didn’t let me get far before he turned and pulled me into a tight hug.

He spoke again once we parted. “It wouldn’t have been. It would have been better than feeling like you were ignoring me.”

I began to speak but his brief laughter stopped me. “I was just kidding, Y/N. Don’t worry about it. So are you excited for tomorrow?” Neymar began to head off to the couch so I followed behind and sat next to him.

“Yeah I am. And nervous. I’ve been preparing for so long it seems like the time flew by.” Tomorrow night was the official opening ceremony and after that, all of the competitions would begin.

“I know what you mean. I’m hoping I get to see one of your events if things aren’t too busy.”

I smiled and nodded. It would be good to have him there, cheering me on. I know I would push myself even harder with him there.

“So what are you doing tonight? Any plans?” A lot of people were talking about meeting downstairs at the hotel bar and just mingling so I figured Neymar would join them at some point. I knew I wouldn’t be as I wanted as much rest as possible.

“I was hoping to just hang out with you. Is that ok? Or do you have plans with someone else?” He seemed so relaxed as we talked while I still felt like an awkward high school girl around her crush. He looked even more mesmerizing in person it was hard not to.

“Yes. That’s fine.”

“Is this weird to you?” he finally questioned. “Being around me for the first time in person?”

I nodded and felt grateful he finally asked. “Just a bit. I hope I’m not being too shy compared to how I am in messages. It’s just different for me. I’ll get used to it.”

“Maybe I can help.” A sly smile crossed his face as he moved closer to me. I watched his hands curiously as one crawled up my bare thigh and the other lifted my chin, putting my face towards him as his lips neared me and his tongue parted my lips. I just hoped he couldn’t feel how fast my heart was beating at the moment.

His hand on my thigh running circles along my golden skin caused shivers down my spine as I finally relaxed into the kiss, my tongue connecting with his. I don’t know what came over me but I moved from my position and straddled his lap, me continuing the kiss and him placing his hands onto my ass comfortably.

I began to move myself in his lap against his jeans causing him to let out a brief moan. I didn’t even think about what I was doing until I heard the ringer of a phone going off.

“Shit,” he muttered to himself. “Mind?” His eyes apologetically looked up at me.

“Yeah sure.” I lifted my hips off of his lap and sat to the side of him as he reached in his jeans and began speaking to the person on the phone. I tried not to listen in too much but I could tell he was annoyed from the tone in his voice. I got my explanation of what was bothering him once he hung up.

“Seems I forgot I had an interview to head to and now I’m late,” he sighed and stood up, adjusting his clothes.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you late.” I felt a bit sad to know I couldn’t have him to myself for the rest of the day but I shouldn’t have been surprised. We were here for work reasons and not for a vacation.

“Don’t apologize. It’s my fault but we can continue this when I get back?”

I nodded and smiled, standing up to him. “Of course.” I placed a deep kiss onto his lips, making sure to keep him remembering what he would be coming back to. “Can’t wait.”

Love is terrible. It burns your chest, makes your stomach clench, your lungs hurt from lack of breath around your love. At least, that’s how Akiteru explains it – he uses nicer words, he loves love – but the general concept is there. That’s why Kei avoids it. He doesn’t want his heart alight by some unknown force, doesn’t want to lose his lunch thinking about someone, wants to be able to breathe. He likes things just the way they are, thank you very much.

“I’ll be right back– a- are you sure you don’t want to come with me?.. Th- The time might pass faster for you if you were around some cute dogs?..”

“I don’t like Ishikawa-san’s dogs, I think I’ll stay with Momoe.” Kei pats the golden retriever’s head, and the pup nuzzles into the touch. “Just don’t stay outside with them while they do their business, it’s freezing outside.”

“Ok, Tsukki! Have fun!”

“Yeah. Come back safe.”

This is normal for them– Tadashi and Kei’s routines. They always try to look out for the other’s health and safety; always tell the other to come back safe if they have to leave to do something. Others think it’s endearing, think it’s sweet, think they’re a couple. Kei doesn’t mind; he and Tadashi both know they’re not an item, who cares what others think?

Kei watches Tadashi leave, bundled in Kei’s – Kei’s – winter jacket, and when he’s gone, Kei takes a moment to take in his surroundings. He’s in Tadashi’s living room, snug under the kotatsu table, looking over some notes he’s supposed to be copying from Tadashi after he spaced out in class. Momoe, Tadashi’s therapy dog, sits next to him where Tadashi previously occupied, reading a book while Kei did notes.

Ha, Kei thinks, Book. He picks it up, and looks it over. The “book” is exactly what he’d thought it was, a book cover from a thesaurus not-so-discreetly taped on over shiny bright pink. The new shoujo manga Tadashi had bought on their last outing into town a week ago, pages still neat (not tear stained like most of Tadashi’s manga), spine unbroken (like all of Tadashi’s manga). Kei scoffs. He doesn’t get why Tadashi tries to hide it, it’s not like Kei cares either way that Tadashi’s studying habits involve all nighters and ten cans of Redbull (ok, he does, but he’s given up trying to change that part of Tadashi; there are some things that can’t be taken from that boy).

With a shake of his head, Kei loos at the back of the book and rolls his eyes.

Kumiko Akiyama is in love with her childhood best friend, Akira Fujioka; she’s tall, charming, and smart. Everything Kumiko thinks she’s not. Kumiko is clumsy, her hair unruly, and she’s very awkward. But Akira thinks Kumiko is perfect, and that she’s unworthy of her best friend. Follow these two girls through high school, awkward encounters, and confessions!

A typical teenage girl book– a typical Tadashi book; he’s always read shounen-ai and yuri manga with no shame, and this manga is no different. Though, as Kei flips through the pages, barely paying attention to the – who he assumes is – totally bland main character as he sees tear stains already on the first few pages. He frowns. It doesn’t look like a sad book, it looks like a normal slice-of-life type.

Kei knocks it up to curiosity. What could make Tadashi cry so much in the very beginning? He doesn’t want to read Tadashi’s stupid shoujo manga.

He opens it, and starts to read. It starts out boring enough; the main character, Kumiko, talking about how she and Akira became friends, how Akira was always there when other girls picked on her for being ugly, how she fell for her best friend. All very generic.

Then the scene cuts to Kumiko and Akira walking to school and Kumiko explains their routine (which oddly reminds Kei of his own walks with Tadashi). The entire time Kumiko tries not to think of how she just wants to take Akira’s hand, so close to her own, and hold it, but she doesn’t want to ruin their friendship. And then

“Ah. I have to go help sensei, will you be ok for a few minutes while I’m gone?”

“Sure, go ahead. Come back safe.”

Oh. Oh. Kei knows why there’s– He understands now.

Love is terrible. You’ll be happy for years, going on with your life, your best friend at your side, and then one day you read a manga about childhood friends falling in love and think “well, that’s like me and– fuck” and the world turns upside down.

So I was thinking #12, but maybe something where there's all this unspoken sexual tension between Harry and Y/N, and maybe they don't even know each other all that well yet, and they meet somewhere accidentally, and wherever they are, there aren't a lot of people around, and they kind of stare at each other, and there's all this desire and sparks, and oh my goodness. (Sorry, I've been watching a lot of people stare longingly at each other in period films lately.)

WoooOoooOooOOOOooooOow I like the way you think.

12. “Kiss me.”

You know this is not the place to be doing this.

Hell, he probably knows this is not the place to be doing this.  But here you are. One Direction’s latest End of Tour party held backstage at the arena they’d performed in earlier that night.  You, a member of the hair and makeup crew, had of course been invited.  And you are having fun.  You are. It’s just… that damn Harry Styles won’t stop looking at you.

You know there’s been far too much sexual chemistry between you and Harry, and it’s gotten past the point where either of you could deny it.  Luckily though, no one else had really ever brought it up before.   Whether or not it was a noticeable thing to others on the crew was entirely debatable.  But as it stands, you and Harry are well aware of your chemistry.

Which is odd, considering you’ve hardly ever really spoken to him.  Sure, you’ve been on tour with him for the past couple of months. But other than the quick hair style or powdering of his face, you’ve hardly spoken.  Lou would occasionally coax a few stories out of you, and yes there were times where Harry would tell you an interesting story about his own life or what he did earlier that day. So it wasn’t really that you didn’t talk.  It was just that you didn’t talk often.

Maybe, by some miracle of fate, tonight was supposed to change that.  Or maybe it wasn’t.  All you know right now is that Harry Styles is on the other side of the room, and this is the twelfth time he’s looked at you.

You sigh, the butterflies in your stomach refusing to relax.  You decide you need some fresh air, so you pick up the drink you’ve set down and head out to the stage.

Nothing in the arena has been taken down yet.  The lights are still up, the catwalk still reaches far out across the football field.  Its all left up for whatever reason.  You’d heard it wasn’t scheduled to be taken down until tomorrow, and for that you’re grateful.  Because this catwalk has given you a place to sit and think.

Barely two hours ago, Harry was up here performing his heart out to THOUSANDS of people.  Nearly every seat in this arena was full.  And now?  Nothing.  It’s almost eerie really, in the most calming sense.  Which shouldn’t even make sense, but it feels like it does.  But maybe that’s what loving Harry does to you.  Maybe nothing makes sense when you’re in love with him.

You curse silently under your breath, angry at yourself for admitting that you loved him.  You’d always known it, but you’d never let yourself admit it or really even think about it. How could you love someone who you’d only spoken to when you were getting him ready to perform for thousands of other girls who loved him just as much, if not more?

“Hey.”  A deep voice startles you and you nearly drop your drink.  You whirl around to see him standing, awkward and gangly with his hands in his pockets. He chuckles deeply, flashing a dimple.  “Sorry, sorry.  Didn’t mean to startle you.”

“No, no.  You didn’t.  I mean, it’s fine.  Uh.”  You laugh awkwardly, reaching up to play with your hair as he takes a few slow steps towards you.  “What… what are you doing out here?”

Getting closer to you, Harry takes a deep breath and looks around.  “It’s a really cheesy answer.”  He laughs, wiping at his nose.  “You’re gonna make fun of me.”

“I am not.”

He grins at you.  “I like to come out here sometimes after shows when it’s like.. empty like this.  You know?  Makes it so… surreal.”

You nod.  “I know.  Those seats were all full of girls screaming for you not two hours ago.”

He laughs, subconsciously getting a little closer.  ‘Yeah.  Ha. Silly, innit?”

“Not silly!” You say.  “I’d scream for you.”

An awkward pause follows those words and you realize what you just said.  Your eyes widen.  “NO! No. I mean. I didn’t mean it as creepy and like, sexual as it sounded.  I meant like, if I was a fan.  Not that I’m not a fan! But.  You know.  I’d scream for you. If I was out here during your shows.  Which. I’m not.”

Harry, the little shit, cannot stop laughing.  “Really?” he teases.  “Think if you were out here I could make you scream?” He wiggles his eyebrows, but you can’t deny the butterflies in your stomach at that.

You roll your eyes, trying to brush it off with a laugh and a little shove.  “Shut up Harry.  You knew what I meant.”

He laughs.  “Yeah, yeah.  I did.  No worries.”   Another silence follows, but this one is not as awkward.  He clears his throat and you both look out at the arena. Again, the sense of eerie calmness creeps over you, even more calming now with Harry’s presence beside you. And god, how you want to just reach over and take his hand in yours.

You’re torn from your thoughts when you notice him staring at you.  Your cheeks instantly redden and you smile.  “What?”

“You’re just… I mean, why didn’t we ever like, talk?”

You turn to face him now.  “Um. I don’t know. I mean, I guess it was cause the only opportunities we ever got were when I was doing your hair.  And we were kind of like, in a rush.  I don’t know.”

He nods, taking this into consideration.  “Yeah,” he says quietly, more to himself than to you.  It’s then when you realize just how close you two are standing. You bite at your lip anxiously.

“I mean,” you continue.  “You’re… like… you’re Harry.  And I’m just your hair stylist, you know?”  You giggle, feeling awkward standing so close to him.  Awkward, like a little middle school girl standing next to her high school crush. “Ha.  Harry Styles hair stylist.  That’s a bit of a tongue twister, huh?”

“Kiss me.”

You shake your head a little in disbelief. You can feel your eyes widen and your cheeks hurt from trying to suppress the smile that wants to make an appearance. “What?!”

Before you can answer, he grabs your face and pulls you in closely.  The moment your lips connect, it feels like every cheesy Rom-Com movie you’ve ever watched, where fireworks go off in your head and a choir sings.  Your heart is on overdrive, and when he pulls away, you realize that you’re grinning stupidly up at him.

Luckily, he’s grinning stupidly right back.

He chuckles, filling the silence that follows.  “God,” he says.  “You’ve no idea how long I wanted to do that.”

You giggle.  “No, I think I might have an idea.”  You reach forward and brush his hand, hanging limply at his side.  He gratefully interlocks his fingers with yours, and his stupid grin subsides into his cheeky little smirk.

“Can I kiss you again?” he asks.

You stand up on your tiptoes to kiss his lips, feeling once again the fireworks and the choir singing.  His arms snake around to your hips and its the most innocently romantic thing you think you’ve ever experienced in your life.  Just standing there kissing, holding one another on a stage that was the center of thousand’s of people’s attention.  So perfectly isolated.  So perfectly in love. ~Sydney

au : the breakfast club

high school au.

erin and abby are juniors and the kind of earnest, awkward yet utterly invisible girls that litter high school hallways everywhere. they’re not the nerdiest of the nerds, but they’re just painfully average. certainly not remarkable enough or pretty enough to get invitations to parties or lunch at popular tables. besides, the kids that went to hoover middle school haven’t forgotten about erin “ghost girl” gilbert, and grudges in 1990 battle creek, michigan aren’t easily forgiven.

patty, a senior, is gunning for salutatorian and is a member of close to every extra-curricular club at the school. she knows everyone. she spends so much time in the library studying, doing homework and reading that she’s almost taken it over. besides, the librarian likes to roll the cart TV into the backroom to watch the young and the restless during the day anyway, and patty likes the responsibility.

holtzmann, meanwhile, is hoover high’s resident weirdo. her clothes either look like she made them herself or raided a colorblind grandma’s closet. a child prodigy, she was homeschooled by her aunt (dr. rebecca gorin) until the current school year. she’s way younger than everyone else, constantly has erector set pieces falling out of her backpack and always laughs at the wrong times. loudly.

they all get stuck in detention one saturday morning. erin and abby skipped class after erin found a mean note slipped into her locker and nearly had a panic attack. patty’s history teacher wrote her up after she refused to back down from an answer he said was wrong but she knew was right. holtzmann almost burned down the second floor science lab. no one really knows how.

the teacher on detention duty that day would rather be almost anywhere else, so the girls are pretty much left to their own devices. what they get up to, though? changes the course of their very young lives and creates a bond none of them knew they were looking for…

The Letter

Here is the first part of “Chances.” This series is based off of this anonymous request:  Can I request a oneshot where the reader sends Jensen a really long, personal letter and doesn’t think there is a chance in hell he’d see it or respond to it. But he does and contacts her and meets her in person and they fall in love? Maybe write it with lots of details of how they meet to their friendship to them dating? Pretty please? :)

Pairing: Jensen x Reader
Words: 709

A/N: If you would like to be tagged in anything, send me an ask.

You knew he’d never see it, but you just had to take the chance. You had to get the words on paper and maybe you’d send it. Maybe, just maybe, Jensen Ackles would actually get your letter and read it. And maybe he’d think it was sweet.

          So, you wrote it;
