Sweet trip in Bangui

I have seen a lot of photos of the famous Bangui Wind Mills in my IG feed and Facebook. And I can’t help but get jealous of those people who already got to see them up close. There’s just something in the way those giant turbines stood and the contrast of blue in the background that just gets me.

And so it was a dream come true when I got to be able to witness these awesome ‘fans’ with my own two eyes!

I think we were at the spot where souvenirs where being sold. There’s another entrance to see these magnificent giants but we turned on a street a little bit early thus we have different angle.

It was a beauty, nonetheless.

The wind was too strong but we didn’t care.

I was just so blessed I got to travel and be with my love at the same time. Thank you love for joining me always!

And thank you too Bangui!

I’ll definitely visit you again!

Love,

S♥

After a slow morning, our guides were overly excited for the evening drive. They had a surprise for us, and what a surprise it was. A pride of 10 lions huddled around a recent kill. What a night.

Hello Abra!...again

Hello guys! Here I am, finally, to share with all of you the experience I had 2 Sundays ago when we decided to take on a road trip to get to Pagudpud! If you’re following me on Instagram, you would have seen my photos from Abra, Vigan, and Ilocos Norte. It sure is the great kick off to start the summer season!

Anyways, our main reason why we went up north was my cousin’s high school graduation in Abra. Saw the province the first time almost 3 years ago and it kinda changed a bit. Good thing, yeah? :) And obviously, that’s our first destination.

Abra is almost 6 hours away from Pampanga. It’s located in the Cordillera Administrative Region in Luzon and its capital is Bangued. Haven’t been in Bangued though, since our destination is in Pilar. Will definitely check it out the next time we visit!

It was quite a long trip that when we arrived in Abra, we instantly dozed off. After a few hours though, I woke my friends (Rik and Zhy) and of course, Makoy, up. We walked around the streets and saw a tobacco field! Never thought they were as lovely as they are when they’re not yet being sold as cigarettes. Lol!

Yes, that’s me blending in. :D

While walking through the streets of Pilar, we saw interesting things like this house which its main source of living is the making of tobacco cigarettes.

Look how the leaves are being dried! Tobacco is a green leafy plant that are picked then dried and used as the main ingredient of a cigarette.

We also saw the church situated on an elevated part of the barangay. We went up and peeked in and listened a bit on the mass that was going on. Just across the church though was the stage where 43 students of the high school department will graduate.

After strolling, we went back to the house and took a bath. The original plan was we will watch the graduation rites but we got lazy and dozed off, again, on the sofa. :D

A picture added to our travel photos.

By lunch time, the program had ended already  and visitors flocked in to celebrate my cousin’s milestone. It was 2pm when we decided to leave Abra and off we start our road trip to Pagudpud.

Til next time Pilar!

With Rik in Abra part two!

And of course we couldn’t leave Abra without taking photos on its ‘welcome’ sign. So touristy, yeah? :D

Thank you Abra! Will visit you soon again!

Love,

S♥

It’s a funny thing. You spend all morning tracking elephants, up and down, through thick brush and across empty plains. But when we finally spot them, it’s the bird that caught my eye first. Photography is a mystery sometimes. Moments can mean something so different to each person, and what we choose to see is an individual thing. It’s what makes photography beautiful

All moments just happen, whether we are planning for them or not. Often we miss moments, stuck in our own world forgetting everything else around us, but when we pay attention, really focus, these beautiful, simple moments are everywhere. Happening all the time. Here, a herd of elephants was crossing a nearby river, the image itself was sloppy, and far too busy, but for just a second, as the matriarch of the herd turned to acknowledge us, the image came together in a beautiful scene. We could have easily passed this by, but taking it all in paid off.

On to the road!

After our short stint in Abra, off we went to a road trip! Our destination? The Boracay of the North–Pagudpud!

We know it’s gonna be a long ride but we weren’t prepared as how long it would be! But as they say, focus on the journey, not the destination. LOL!

Anyway, we enjoyed the road trip mainly because we stopped in borders to take pictures as our reminder that we indeed crossed those paths once in our lives. (So melodramatic, haha!)

To reach our destination, we need to pass Ilocos Sur to get to Ilocos Norte where the coastal town of Pagudpud. From Abra, it was almost a five hour drive that our driver got really, really tired.

We passed by the Abra River, which is one of the largest rivers in the Philippines. It passes through Abra, Ilocos Sur, and the Mountain Province and flows to South China Sea. My heart always skip a beat whenever we pass that bridge which connects Abra and Ilocos Sur.

Our van passed through municipalities and barangays in Ilocos Sur, and eventually reached Vigan. We didn’t stop there as we all decided we will visit the famous Calle Crisologo the next day on our way home.

The road seemed endless and we couldn’t find a 7 Eleven store which sells ice. We only chanced upon one way past Paoay. Finally, after few hours, we arrived Ilocos Norte. This is by far the farthest place I’ve ever been in the Philippines! It was such an achievement for all of us that we stopped and took pictures.

M and S in Ilocos Norte!

It’s already getting dark the moment we arrived in Laoag and of course we couldn’t not take pictures in here too!

Laoag’s sinking bell tower captured my heart♥

After this, we got lost. Almost 45 minutes was wasted…good thing there’s GPS which guided us right back on track. By this time, our driver was already getting tired. We almost backed out and we’re already planning on looking for the nearest place we could rest at but the GPS said only two hours more ‘til our destination and we just kinda, let’s carry on!

Though it was mostly dark long roads, the group got pretty animated and excited when we started seeing giant windmills across the dark sky. It was like looking at transformers in the middle of the night you can’t help but get scared. Lol!

We then let out a cry of relief when we saw the welcome arc that says we’ve reached Pagudpud already! We went straight to the nearest resort we saw and fortunately we got the room for 2500 only and we were 11 with no additional cost! Talk about a lucky bargain and kind receptionisi! Lol! It was just sad though that I forgot the name of the resort/inn. :( Will try to remember and ask my companion about it. While our rice is being cooked, we went to see the beach. It was pretty dark but still it promises to be awesome when the day breaks.

After eating our dinner (salted egg, chicharon, & tomato!) we called it a day and off we go to dreamland.

Stay tuned on to the next post and read about our morning in Saud Beach, Pagudpud! :)

Love,

S♥

A simple, quiet moment along the Chobe river in Botswana last year. The photo was taken with a infra red canon camera capturing only shades of infra red light. The image was then converted to a black and white
