Running inland from protective fjords, Three Saints Bay in Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska looks like a calm lake on a still day. The refuge is home to a spectacular variety of landscapes and wildlife. With mountains, rivers, tundra, forests, wetlands and coastline, it’s like seeing all of Alaska on a single island. Be still. Feel the beating of your heart. The rise and falling of your chest. The subtle heat that radiates from your skin. You are alive. And everything that you; your skin, your eyes, as well as your talents and traits, is something to cherish. So take this life that you have, and live it.
Allow yourself to become who you are meant to become. In life, others will develop differently than you. They will form a different set of opinions. They will simply be different. However, that is natural, for everyone is called to become their own person.
You be you, regardless of anyone else. Don’t allow the differences that may exist persuade you to hide your true self.
Bass Lake is a serene stop off the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. With miles of trails wandering by the lake and through the forest, you’ll enjoy every minute of your visit. Taking pictures along the parkway is a passion of photographer Jim Ruff, and this golden sunrise is his favorite shot from this winter. Photo courtesy of Jim Ruff.
Don’t allow for that voice of doubt to beat you down. It can be cruel, harsh, and ultimately degrading. It can be there during the ups and the downs, when you see it coming, or when you least expect it. Regardless of when it’s there, do not listen to this voice of doubt. Do not allow for it to darken your beautiful light.
