avoid all the people

normalize trans bodies in wlw/mlm settings

when you say things like “trans inclusive” dont then turn around and only include descriptions of cis women in your sapphic poetry or only post art that only has cis men

if you’re cis and want to be “trans inclusive” make damn sure you’re actually trying to correct any transphobia that you have and correct any internal ideas that cis men/women are the only ones that belong in mlm/wlw spaces

also, normalize wlw/mlm relationships that don’t have any cis people in them. we dont need to date cis people to be considered “actual” wlw/mlm

it’s also okay for trans people to avoid dating cis people all together (whether for safety reasons or because of past traumas)

just. yah idk make sure that you actually mean it when you say that you’re trans inclusive and actively try to work on not being transphobic

(yr encouraged to rb if yr cis)

Vegans are very aware that not everyone can avoid all animal products, but we’re also aware that many people don’t even try. Even if you can’t eat vegan, could you be wearing synthetic fabrics instead of animal skins or wool? Could you reasonably avoid animal tested products? Could you eat vegan more often than you do now? We know that not everyone is in a position to eat 100% plant based and no good vegan will shame you for that. Please, just honestly ask yourself, could you be doing more?

10 Signs You’re an Introvert

1. You find small talk incredibly cumbersome.

Introverts are notoriously small talk-phobic, as they find idle chatter to be a source of anxiety, or at least annoyance. For many quiet types, chitchat can feel disingenuous.

“Let’s clear one thing up: Introverts do not hate small talk because we dislike people,” Laurie Helgoe writes in “Introvert Power: Why Your Inner Life Is Your Hidden Strength.” “We hate small talk because we hate the barrier it creates between people.”

2. You go to parties -– but not to meet people.

If you’re an introvert, you may sometimes enjoy going to parties, but chances are, you’re not going because you’re excited to meet new people. At a party, most introverts would rather spend time with people they already know and feel comfortable around. If you happen to meet a new person that you connect with, great — but meeting people is rarely the goal.

Hey Bughead Fam!!!!

So, as we’ve all noticed, there’s been lots of hate towards our lovely little ship. What do we say to trying to get #Bughead trending tomorrow night during the episode, since this will more than likely be a big episode for us?

Helpful Resume Tips:

And by that, I mean that I’ve been reading a lot of resumes recently, and there are several things that I see people doing constantly that are really grinding my gears. So, I’m going to vent about resumes for a minute.

EXPORT YOUR RESUME AS A PDF.

I don’t have time to put the pieces together of your .DOCX resume after it has been chewed up and spit out. You can’t trust that the formatting will remain the same, you can’t trust that they’ll be viewing the document on a full size screen. You can’t trust that they’ll have all of your fonts and what nots.

USE ACTIVE VERBS.

Don’t make me dig for your verbs in your descriptions. Avoid the passive voice. Don’t downplay your experience.

AVOID REDUNDANCY.

Space is at a premium. If you have an education section that says when you attended and what your course of study was, then you don’t need a subsection under education detailing when you graduated and the types of courses you took. You’ve already covered that. And now you’ve made me read it twice.

DON’T LIST EVERY SINGLE JOB YOU’VE HAD.

Unless they specifically asking for a CV, they’re not looking for much beyond your relevant experience. I’m not super interested in your two years as a barista if you’re applying to be an audio engineer.

SAY WHAT YOUR REFERENCES DO AND WHERE

That helps your future employer to know what sorts of questions to have prepared when checking your references. And for the love of god vary your references. Try to avoid having several people that you worked with all together or more than one professor from your college.

KEEP IT TO ONE PAGE

Especially if you’re passing out a physical resume (like at USITT, SETC, or a cattle call). Keep it simple. Keep it short. Bullet points. Active, decisive sentences. Boom. Boom. Boom. Save the flowery shit for your personal statement. You can go into more depth for the interview.

how can people cry “FETISHIZATION!!!!” immediately at the fetishization of non-Asian POC but are completely fine with sexualizing k-pop stars all they want, have entire blogs dedicated to shipping them in real life, borderline stalk them into their personal lives, and treat them as if they were gods just because they’re asian as if that doesn’t count as fetishization, too?

do you not think Asians count as a race that can be fetishized? or is it because “i’M POC TOO!!!!!!!!” as if your experience with oppression means that you can contribute to the oppression of another group? that you’d target another race with the same thing you despise people doing to yourself? or is it because you’ve called yourself a weeaboo/koreaboo so much that it’s lost the original meaning behind the word where it was meant to be a label on people who fetishize asians? that you’ve been contributing to the fetishization of Asians for so long you don’t realize that what you’re doing is fetishization?

just admit you don’t care about the fetishization of Asian people if you pull this sort of thing, at least you can say that you’re honest about it and let people know they should avoid you.

I’m seeing this problem a lot right now, both in support pages for mental illness, in people, and online, especially on tumblr.

Y'all.

Depression and anxiety are actual problems that are being diagnosed more and more, you can feel alone and scared and isolated. But they are not the only mental illness out there. Depression and anxiety are still stigmatized and the people who have them are still called lazy and liars when it interferes with their daily lives. But it’s also rapidly becoming more socially acceptable to have them. A character or person in the media with anxiety or depression is seen a quirky and unique and someone to be saved with the right person comes along to show them the world and give them a meaning to live. A person with bipolar or schizophrenia or a personality disorder or any other ‘scary’ and misunderstood mental illness is a serial killer and that is clearly why they are commiting horrible acts. Not because they’re terrible human beings, but because they’re ‘dangerously mentally ill’ and can’t help themselves.

You wanna know what would help that problem? Actual education about the illnesses and representation. I’m sick of the focus on commonly accepted mental illnesses and not the ones that are also common and stigmatized. And I’m really sick of being treated like an outcast and criminal because people don’t understand that bipolar ≠ dangerous. More people are becoming educated on such disorders but it’s still a problem. I shouldn’t have to be given 'The Talk’ by my mother when a mass shooting occurs or a bombing takes place about how 'I need to control my emotions and not do something horrible to anyone because of your illness.’

You cannot post things like 'people with depression are v v v cute uwu’ and create lists on how to take care of themselves during a panic attack and then tell people that everyone with Borderline personality disorder is automatically abusive and should be avoided at all costs. You can support anxiety but you cannot compare people with schizophrenia to 'psychos that need to be medicated so they aren’t a danger to society.’ You can’t call people with DID liars about what they experience and ignore their symptoms because you consider it as made up for attention. That’s not how mental illness positivity works.

Mental illnesses that are considered scary and rarer than they are, are being swept under the rug and it isn’t helping it become accepted. It’s hurting the people that don’t see themselves represented and feel so ashamed of themselves that they would rather suffer through years of symptoms than seek help because they believe they will be ridiculed and cast out of their families and cultures. Advocate for mental illness, but make sure you advocate for ALL mental illness, even the ones that aren’t considered 'popular.’

LETS START A NEW TAG FOR STEVEN UNIVERSE THAT'S HATE FREE! #Steven Universe Hate Free

I see a lot of people who are often get really upset because they can’t scroll through the Steven universe tag anymore without seeing hate. I feel for the people who can’t stand looking at hate or even criticism and there’s so many people who don’t care enough to tag it as such. Asking them to be decent people is not working so lets try to start a new tag for Steven Universe content that is hate free.

Here’s what you can do:

  • tag your original content as #Steven Universe hate free (AND ofc you can still tag things as #Steven Universe as well so it will get noticed better. The new tags purpose is just so people can look through a general Steven universe tag but with much less hate. not to replace the old tag)
  • Reblog and like this post to spread the word, if this post doesn’t spread then this tag will never work

And yes, there is always going to be a few really bad apples who will put hate in the new tag to bother us… But at least this way people can avoid all of the hate that ends up in the main tag because people don’t care or know to properly tag it with #su criticism / hate.

Please please please signal boost this post to spread the word

Something brilliant about the new BatB movie

Of all the changes they made, I feel like one stood out as being the most subtly ingenious - setting up Gaston as an outsider to the town like Belle was, but in a vastly different way.

First off, paying close attention, it becomes clear that Gaston views the town much like Belle does. When he says that it’s “simple”, he means it. And he strides in literally above everyone else on his horse, looking down on them. Gaston realizes that the townspeople are simple minded and that the town is provincial. While they bully and scorn Belle, he doesn’t (at least not in the same fashion or for the same reasons). You could argue that he only doesn’t mock her because he’s trying to gain her favor, but there is no indication that he would have ever had a problem with her reading or teaching other girls to read. He even fakes interest in her books instead of reprimanding her for her “funny” hobbies; he may have looked at this interest in a patronizing way, but it didn’t seem to personally offend him (like his cartoon counterpart who directly states that she shouldn’t be reading books).

He also didn’t seem the type to get upset at Belle or any other woman finding a more convenient way to do chores. And when LeFou tells him the town is bullying her because of this, he doesn’t seem surprised at all by their behavior, almost as if he expected it. We also see hints of his being removed from the town when he tries to “comfort” Belle about the headmaster - I think he’s being truthful here when he says he wasn’t liked either. And, again, he outright tells Belle that their town is simple and that this is all they can expect.

It’s also telling that he finds Belle “outrageously attractive”; some may interpret this as him merely wanting a conquest (which it partly is, no doubt), but I think he also is genuinely attracted to her uniqueness - he finds her argumentative and independent personality appealing, which would seem to imply some sort of free thinking and cleverness on his own part. In some weird, perhaps essentially inaccurate way, Gaston sees him and Belle as sort of kindred spirits - both too good for this town and this life, the “best” that belong together.

Let me digress a bit because now the question comes up as to why he stays in town and doesn’t seek his own “adventure in the great wide somewhere” (which, perhaps, his hunting is a substitute for). I think the answer to this is pretty clear - he’s found a small safe haven where he can get the admiration his low self-esteem obviously needs so that he can keep functioning at basic human levels. Due to sexism, Gaston’s outsiderness is treated very differently by the townspeople than Belle’s. Belle and Gaston are both detached and removed from the general masses, but whereas Belle is ostracized and side-eyed, Gaston is put on a pedestal and idolized (just compare the songs “Belle” and “Gaston”). Logically, this may have something to do with his very real accomplishments as a captain, but it’s also very much rooted in gender roles (Belle has stepped outside hers, while Gaston has not). But if Gaston were to leave, would he find himself being treated as special in larger cities? Probably not. And we see what can happen when Gaston’s self-value plummets - a screw pops loose in his head and he begins literally rampaging, hurting innocent people all in an effort to avoid facing reality.

Back to the main point - one effect of making Gaston seemingly just as aware of the town’s flaws is that it sets him up as much more intelligent than the cartoon. He stays in this town because he’s worshiped, but you can tell he’s looking down his nose at them the whole time, encapsulated by his treatment of the fawning girls. This aligns with this new incarnation’s cleverness. Unlike the cartoon, this Gaston is not dumb. Belle calls him “brainless” because he’s not well-read, but he is in no way dumb. He’s probably not illiterate (he went to school, and he does quote Shakespeare), and he’s more than proficient at gaslighting and manipulating people to do what he wants. He’s also a clever strategist and soldier.

So what does this all mean in terms of character? Why make Gaston as aware of the town’s narrow-minded provincial nature as Belle? Why make him smarter? Well, this has multiple added effects.

1) It means he’s good at evaluating people - he reads and plays the people in the town easily, which makes the ending mob scene much more believable. He rallies these people not just because they admire him (arguably less than the cartoon town did), but because he knows what they want to hear and can play on their narrow minded prejudices (it’s interesting to wonder if he even believed any of the things he was saying about the beast himself). It also means that he may be fully aware of LeFou’s affections for him, and was choosing to ignore it and/or use it when necessary.

2) It also means that his failure to acknowledge Belle’s feelings about marrying him are not due to obliviousness or stupidity; he is willfully deluding himself into thinking he has a chance. This adds an element of instability to him that becomes more and more dangerous as the movie progresses (just watch his reaction to Belle closing the door on his face - that’s some hardcore reality avoidance). Gaston’s sanity and self-worth is holding on by the thread he’s created in his own mind that he’ll win Belle.

3) It makes him scarier as well. Cartoon Gaston was scary because he was big. This Gaston is scary because you can see him evaluating, judging, and plotting. You can see him using his looks to get what he wants and, unlike the cartoon, affecting a sort of tender sincerity to deflect suspicion. His ability to be metaphorically outside looking in at this village makes him capable of manipulating everyone, except Maurice (and you can see how Gaston handles that)

4) It humanizes him too. One can’t help but wonder what he would have been like without that fatal need to be liked and admired and with some sort of societal boundaries to keep his ego and entitlement in check. Or if he had simply taken Belle’s rejection as the lesson in humility it should have been and used it to evaluate himself and his qualities, instead of letting it destroy him so much that his behavior devolves into irrationality and outright cruelty, even towards those that he seemed to care about at least a little at first (LeFou and even Belle). In fact, his transformation is a mirror reverse of the Beast’s - Gaston transforms into a monster as the movie goes on, while the Beast becomes more humanized. Both the beast and Gaston are subjected to a lesson in humility, and react in very different ways.

Overall, I think if Disney had simply recreated the cartoon version of Gaston, he would have been a laughingstock - a character that seemed too unrealistic and static. But by rounding him out, he becomes dynamic and I think he’ll probably live on in this version as one of the best Disney characters (not just villains) of all time.

How to Fairy Tail:

You’re a force of seventeen wizards and three cats trapped on an island with two incredibly powerful forces you have no hope of taking down: Zeref, the actual Black Wizard aka Most Evil Dude Ever, and Grimoire Heart, a force of wizards all of Wizard Saint strength and beyond who are mopping the floor with you and have already near-fatally wiped out half your members, including all of the strongest ones. You are essentially broken and do not have strength enough to protect your wounded, let alone fight off Grimoire Heart. You also have a third threat in the form of the Magic Council, who in order to take Zeref and Grimoire Heart out of the picture, are planning to fire Etherion, a city-destroying nuclear satellite laser, at the island you’re on, and they don’t give a shit whether you’re still on it when they fire it. The dude who works for these people has a handy teleportation ability that can get you and your wounded off the island without Grimoire Heart or Zeref being able to catch you and before Etherion is fired. He is being a hero right now and extending this offer, which is essentially your only hope of survival.

Instead of taking that offer, deny it against all logic and reason because you’re too stubborn to admit when you’re beat, and when he tries to talk sense into you, respond by threatening the lives of the Magic Council–those dudes that he literally just told you are holding Etherion over your heads and who already don’t like your sorry asses. After all, pride and the ability to flex your muscles even on your deathbed are far more important than actually surviving!

Poly Myth #4

Myth #4: Polyamory is for people who don’t get jealous.

People in polyamorous relationships do experience jealousy, sometimes quite often – but instead of avoiding feelings of jealousy, poly folks (just like all people in healthy relationships!) are pushed to confront jealousy head on.

It’s important to recognize that it’s okay to feel jealousy! There’s nothing shameful about it. It’s just a feeling.

What is important is what you do with that feeling, and how you come to understand and deal with it.

There are strategies to survive and even work to unlearn jealousy. These can often be applied to other areas in our lives.

In this way, confronting our feelings of jealousy can serve to make us stronger people, strengthening our foundation, our internal security, and our relationships, too.

Idk if you've been asked this before, but what are your thoughts of Bensavi?

[ Tom Hiddleston - Extended imagine ]“Cigarettes and Divorce Forms”.

Based on: Imagine: Filing for divorce from Tom, and him signing the papers even though he still loves you, because he knows you aren’t happy with him and all he wants is to see you smile even if its not him who can make it happen anymore.

Tom stared at the clock before lighting his 5th cigarette in the last 67 minutes. The ticking noise seemed to echo in the room.

The lawyer adjusted his cufflinks for the 3rd time and took a deep breath glancing at his impatient client with a worried look.

“How much longer are you going to wait, Mr.Hiddleston?”

Tom glared at him with the cigarette burning between his fingers.

“She’ll be here”, he murmured clenching his jaw.

“It’s been-”

“I’m sorry”, Tom cut him off, “Am I not paying you enough, mate? Because you sure as hell know how to charge”.

The lawyer shifted in his seat awkwardly and interlaced his fingers before him with a softer expression, understanding his client’s bad mood.

Well, what I mean is… that maybe this is a good thing. You know… maybe she doesn’t want the divorce after all. Many people avoid these things because they don’t really want to get divorced”, he stammered.

Tom narrowed his eyes and cocked his head.

“Oh believe me. She wants it”, he said holding smoke in his mouth.

So I have ADHD and I’ve been researching a lot more about it, and there’s this thing called “Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria” which apparently is mainly specific to those with ADHD.
Now, I just heard about it the other day but just learning about it made me realize how I share many similar symptoms. Which helps me a lot because I hate not being able to understand things.
And hopefully it helps other people with ADHD feel better too, to realize some of the things they feel are not uncommon.

So Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria or RSD, from what I understand, is the super heightened dislike of criticism and being afraid of people getting mad at you, and anything that may come off as mean makes you feel like absolute shit.
and you believe that if anyone seems a little off it’s because of something you did. So then people who have RSD will tend to do things to avoid these situations at all cost.

Such as, being people pleasers, doing a lot of whatever they can to make sure that people feel accommodated and happy. Taking a lot of their life to making other people feel better.

Trying to be perfect. If no one finds flaws in the individual then they cant be criticized.

Or they give up on things all together. They stop doing things because if they don’t do stuff then no one can get angry or mad at them.

Basically you try anything to never put yourself in a compromising position.

Idk learning about this was good because it helped me figure something new about myself so I wanted to share the information. I hope at least one thing made sense because I’m still not exactly sure about everything it entails.

If any of you know more about it, please add to this.
