He brushed back his hair, soaked in (her) rain, and clenched his jaws. Quiet and steady, Gray marched on.

queentyna  asked:

Luan, have you met Mako or Bolin or Asami?

Luan: I’ve known Asami since I was little! She’s like an Aunt to me. I spent a summer in Zaofu with Bolin and his family when I was 8, and he taught me some non-traditional forms of earthbending from his pro-bending days. I don’t get to see either of them as much anymore - the older I get, the more “Avatar Duties” I’ve had to perform. As for Mako, I don’t know him well. I don’t think he likes me very much… but he’s also very busy with his work and family. So maybe I’m just being self-conscious?

Here’s a pretty loose set of paragraphs about what the Krew did after the events of The Legend of Korra up until their deaths or the beginning of The Legend of Niiko.
I’ve put a five to ten year gap of most of these events starting so everything in the upcoming Korra comics can either happen or stop hapening.

With the spirit portals open and with one as easily accessible as one planted right in the middle of Republic City, the Spirit world was constantly bombarded with people wanting to colonise and set up home. None ever ended well and Korra was constantly running back and forth trying to prevent them from getting out of hand. After one particular incident (known as the De’pea Incident) stricter laws were put on who could come and go from the portals, for the safety of the people and so Korra could focus on one major source of tension in the world. The rising tension between the Fire Nation and the Earth Nation which had boiled to the point of something of a cold war.
The twenty-three year period was some of the most stressful for her and Asami along with Mako, Bolin, The BeiFong family and Jinora pitched in to help whenever they could.
Despite all Korra dedicated herself to maintaining peace and balance in the world. Some say she worked her butt off until giving her last breath at the age of 93, when in reality as her health began to deteriorate she had moved back to the South Pole to spend her final years so she could be laid to rest with her mother and father.
The decade before her death and the following twenty-five years afterwards are considered some of the most peaceful the world has been in centuries.

Bolin was already married with his first child by the time he was 25, and within the next ten years an extra six followed before his wife put her food down and demanded no more. Bo went from one odd job to the next, never really settling in a career and when the kids arrived he settled quite comfortably into becoming a stay-at-home dad.
When his kids were old enough to take care of themselves he finally returned to work, taking up acting in movers again. Throughout most of his 40s-60s Bo starred in a number of famous movers and enjoyed every moment of it.
His eldest daughter had become concerned that her father had more money than he knew how to handle, egging him to make better use of it (more than the frivolous gifts he’d given to various friends and family who felt guilty for accepting). Bo began putting the money towards many charitable acts, travelling the world helping when he could wherever he could, many members of his brood following along, inspired by their (grand)father’s work. (his daughter making sure he didn’t work himself into bankruptcy or exhaustion).
After years of happiness and comfort, Bolin finally chose to settle down in Zaofu where many of his earthbending brood had chosen to live.
Bolin finally passed at the age of 90, content with his life and surrounded by his many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mako threw himself into his career as a detective, almost married to it. Romance never a big thing on his mind he became the object of many of his co-workers setting him up on blind dates with friends and family…but he typically turned them down. He eventually found someone, a doctor who was as dedicated to her work as he was (Bo, Korra and Asami joked that he may as well have married himself).
After years of dedicated service to the RC Police Force Mako was eventually promoted to Chief of Police at the age of 51.
Mako’s first and only child, Masaki, was born when Mako and his wife were well into their 40s. Shy and soft-spoken, Masaki was unfortunately prone to influence and left home to join a hippie commune.
Mako heard nothing of his son for almost 20 years when Masaki showed up again. While both were able to reconcile the relationship was strained at best and in the wake of Masaki’s messy divorce with his third wife (in his 20 year absence he had married and divorced twice), Mako picked up the slack of taking care of his two grandchildren.
As a result Mako is closer with his two grandkids than he ever was with his own son.

Much like Korra and Mako, Asami threw herself 110% into bringing Future Industries into the modern world. But technology began to grow faster than the company could keep up with and with many different companies popping up with newer and better tech Future Industries struggled to do so. This slowed down the company for a spell and Asami began to wonder what legacy she could leave with the company.
This lead to the inception of The Future Industries School of Engineering, a college dedicated to teaching women various skills within the STEM field. Asami personally teaching a few of the classes herself.
While she did enjoy teaching people the skills she herself was passionate in she did have a company to run and when The Space Race began Asami was ready to take full advantage of it. Korra disapproved of this but was too busy with her own job to constantly dispute it and Asami became too obsessed to really care about the rift in their relationship, instead taking in a protege; a spirited 17 year old student at the college known as Farida.
While Korra and Asami were still very much still dedicated to each other and the relationship between Asami and Farida was strictly mentor/student that didn’t stop rumors from flying that there may have been something more serious between them. The stress of these rumors was too much for her and eventually Farida quit, choosing to work for the newly formed Spirit Protection Forces.
After Asami’s death at the age of 78, Sato Mansion was given over to the Historical Society and Asami left the future of Future Industries in Farida’s hands, who remains the CEO of the company.
