automotive clay

Nissan Qashqai - Design Process 2.

You can see the two different DRG strategies in the clay model comparing the left with the right. Sometimes the chosen half will then be applied with dinoc to further evaluate the design strategy.

Colour and material choices for the headlamp. With LED strips being more prevalent in less premium cars and trim levels, it’s become increasingly important for a car to maintain it’s brand identity through the ‘eyes’ - at night time especially.

The colour and material mood boards show a range of colours, textures, finishes, and emotions. Whilst these individually show clear directions, I’m not entirely sure how they relate to 'Nissan’ as a brand. They seem a bit too generic.

Featured Designer #5 - Yann Jarsalle

Transportation Design, Strate College 2000.

Exterior Designer. Notable designs include Renault DeZir Concept, Renault Alpine A110-50, Renault Clio 2013.

Under the guidance of Laurens Van Der Acker, Yann has been pivotal in the development of Renault’s new exterior form language. The ‘design by volumes’ philosophy evident in the DeZir, which Yann himself compares favourably with the Jaguar C-X75, has successfully shown the world that there is more to automotive design than 'German precision’; emotional design is the key.
