Carolinajleewang: Sorry if this came out sounding rude but on the last three pics were u had the blouse open and exposing your skin is rude to Chinese. I’m Chinese. Those type of blouse are traditional. Is a symbol of love and beauty. When a Asian sees a race wearing traditional clothing like that we see that as a disgrace. Like u are making fun of us. And we also see that as a prostitute and a slut. (Like I said, sorry if it came out sounding bad)

Julietsimms: @carolinajleewang omg I’m so so sorry!!!! I really am! I didn’t mean to be offensive at all and I will remove those photos. Just so you know I very much admire your culture. I think it is the most beautiful and aesthetic. I respect the beauty, customs, clothing, food, religion etc., with my whole heart and just simply didn’t know that. I will take it down and again my deepest apologies. Just for the record next time you want to tell someone they’re offending you, best not to offend them back by calling them names. I am not a slut or a prostitute. I am married and live in a different cultural and country where I can wear what I please how I please. I understand the idea behind wearing this top not properly is offensive so I get that and will remove it. However, if you knew me at all you would know I’m not making fun of you, just selling a shirt I wore on stage. But my mistake.

A/N: So I’m posting this for everyone to see because it actually upset me a bit. To start with, I very much admire this person who told Juliet that the way she was wearing the shirt was offensive to her culture and the culture of the top in a very respectful manner, even giving her the exact reason why it was offensive. It’s obvious that English is this person’s second language, but they still did a great job of letting Juliet know that they would appreciate the pictures taken down.

What upsets me is part of Juliet’s response. Specifically this part: Just for the record next time you want to tell someone they’re offending you, best not to offend them back by calling them names. I am not a slut or a prostitute.

I feel like the person was very clear that wearing the shirt the way Juliet was, was perceived as the way sluts or prostitutes do. Not that this person was calling Juliet those names. The wording definitely makes it seem like it was the person explaining why it was offensive, so I don’t understand why Juliet would take it in the way that she did. The person even apologized twice because they didn’t want to come off as rude while still trying to help Juliet.

I’m glad she took down the pictures and apologized, but I definitely don’t think she responded in an appropriate way.

Let me know what you think.
