Woman Reading, a Book in the Hand. Josephine Margaret Muntz-Adams (Australian, 1862-1949). Oil on canvas.

Muntz-Adams, residing in Melbourne, diverged from standard patterns of taste in her use of a somber palette and free, expressive brushwork. She exhibited internationally, being consistently acclaimed since 1896, but ended her career in relative obscurity.

South Australia to get $1bn solar farm and world's biggest battery
System will include 3.4m solar panels and 1.1m batteries, with operations set to begin by end of 2017

A huge $1bn solar farm and battery project will be built and ready to operate in South Australia’s Riverland region by the end of the year.

The battery storage developer Lyon Group says the system will be the biggest of its kind in the world, boasting 3.4m solar panels and 1.1m batteries.

The company says construction will start in months and the project will be built whatever the outcome of the SA government’s tender for a large battery to store renewable energy.

A Lyon Group partner, David Green, says the system, financed by investors and built on privately owned scrubland in Morgan, will be a “significant stimulus” for South Australia.

“The combination of the solar and the battery will significantly enhance the capacity available in the South Australian market,” he said.

*stops reading for a couple of hours and forgets I’m reading a soul bond fic*

*comes in mid-sentence and reads ‘mate’ in a ridiculous Australian accent*

me: what the fuck am I - oh. Why do I do this?

me @ me: just because you’re Australian does not mean you get to pull shit like this

ID #80750

Name: Tess
Age: 16
Country: Australia

Hey! as it says above, I’m Tess from Australia! G'Day! sorry… never doing that again…, I’m looking for a pen pal because I’ve never had one before and i find it interesting making a friend from a different country.

About me: I love anime, reading, drawing, manga, music, Harry Potter, Supernatural, Doctor who, I’ve just started watching Daredevil (a tad late i know), horror movies, video games, etc (i could go on for days)

For music i listen to pretty much anything from classical to pop funk such as FOB, P!ATD to classic rock and musicals (Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen are my current favs). I’m open to any reading/music/Tv shows and movie suggestions!

Anyway, that’s it for me but i hope we can talk soon! Bye!

Preferences: Someone close to or around my age, I’m open to talking on email, Tumblr, Snapchat, Facebook, maybe even ‘Snail mail’ in the future

The Artist’s Wife Lynda Reclining (1915). Derwent Lees (Australian, 1885-1931). Oil on board.

At the Slade Lees came into close contact with Augustus John and James Dickson Innes under whose strong influence this work of Lynda reclining with a book ready to read was painted. Lees produced small panel paintings of landscapes or figures in landscapes, swiftly drawn and quickly painted, on working trips to North Wales and the South of France.

ACOTAR/TOG Confession:

I had a hard time adjusting to the whole ‘mate’ thing

Why?

Because I’m Australian and when you read sad, feel-inducing lines like “I lost my mate,” you kinda just…laugh?

Like lemme help you find him for ya’ mate

When Lucien and Elain happened at the end of ACOMAF (You’d think I would have adjusted by then) and Lucien was all like “you’re my mate”

and all I could do was cry-laugh at the same time going like “sure, same goes for me, mate”

AND THE ACCENT I IMAGINE IT IN? LIKE WITH THE HEAVY, TOTALLY-NOT-SEXY-IN-THAT-CONTEXT AUSTRALIAN ACCENT. You just suddenly go from English/ Scottish/ whatever accent that’s sexy as hell, and then you suddenly hear this ‘what’s gon’ on down’ under’ accent infiltrating your feels.

I can’t.

Humans are weird post

@space-australians so whenever I read your posts all I can think of is my cat. I adopted him from a shelter and when I first met Howie, he bit my hand with no warning while I was petting him. The adoption people claimed that was unlike him, and for some reason I felt a connection, I adopted him. Turns out, he’s just a bitey cat and has bit every person in my family at least once except my mom. I still love him though and he’s not as aggressive now so when he starts growling, I just laugh and cuddle closer.

Hey there!!!

Hi everyone!! After admiring the studyblr community from the shadows for awhile I’ve decided to create my own studyblr :-) So heres a little bit about me…

I’m not sure if I’m comfortable sharing my name yet, so I can just be called T until then ^_^. I’m 16 years old, from Australia, and currently in Year 11. I’ll be sitting my HSC in October 2018 (yikes!!!).

The subjects I’m taking are:

- Geography (accelerated, so I’m sitting my HSC for it this year)

- Legal Studies

- English

- English Extension

- Biology

- Chemistry

- Maths

My favourite subject is probably geography, though I find legal studies and biology pretty interesting, and my least favourite is definitely maths, then chemistry.

I’m still pretty unsure at this point, but when I graduate, I’m interested in doing a combined law degree with international studies or maybe finance or business. My dream job would be to work as a diplomat or for the UN or other international agency. Pretty big dreams aha, but hopefully not unachievable 😬😬.

I’ve started this studyblr to boost my motivation and drive to study and be productive, as seeing other peoples beautiful notes gives me the kick I need to go make my own :-). It’s also so useful to see other peoples methods and tips and resources to be productive, and with Yr 12 looming around the corner I could definitely use some help in that regard. Overall, this community just seems so nice and supportive of each other, and I thought it would be nice to be a part of that.

My main hobby is reading; I love books set in courts with like royal scandals and political manoeuvrings and everyone trying to take everyone else down, but they have to be sneaky because, you know, they’re in a court, which is a weirdly specific niche, I know :-P. I also love books about heists (another weirdly specific genre). My favourite book at the moment is definitely the Six of Crows duology, I’ve read them a billion times over and I’m still not bored :-D.

I’ve been inspired by quite a number of studyblrs: @athxnasdaughtxr, @smallstudyblring, @emmastudies, @juliasacads, @vera-studies, @studyblr,  @studyengz@celestiallessons, @studytherin , @studyquill, @archeolgy, @bee-studies@gentlestudying@studyingandmemes@studyforwhatmatters, @bluelahe and @sneaky-studies are some of the main ones who really inspire me :-)

So yeah, I hope I can find a place in the studyblr community and wow I just realised how long this post is, if you’ve bothered to read this far thanks so much :-)))). It would be super great to meet people in this community and be an active part of it, so please, have no hesitations in just randomly messaging me if you want a new friend, I’d love to get to know you!

(Also random side note, but I’m planning to start a bullet journal around the end of September/ early October when I go into yr 12, so if anyone has any recommendations for supplies that are available in Australia and aren’t too expensive (since I’m lowkey broke ahaha), please let me know :-))
