A day in the life of a recruit at Kapooka

Australian Army recruits complete soldier training at the Army Recruit Training Centre, Kapooka, near Wagga Wagga, before becoming full-time soldiers. The 80-day recruit course is physically challenging and mentally demanding. Over this period, recruits progress through increasing levels of physical and mental challenges, learning the basics of soldiering including the use of infantry weapons, navigation, communications, drill, military ethos and leadership.

The training centre’s mission is to develop and deliver quality recruit training in order to produce exceptional Australian soldiers. Before ‘marching out’ to commence their initial employment training and career in the Australian Army, recruits must adapt and be comfortable in uncertain, volatile, complex and ambiguous situations to help them succeed on the battlefield. While challenging, training is designed to prepare recruits to serve their country and uphold the Australian Army values – courage, initiative, respect and teamwork.

Los Angeles based electronic duo SLANDER demonstrate their “heaven trap” expertise on a melodramatic and theatrical remix of Australian producer Alison Wonderland’s U Don’t Know. It’s a riveting, cosmic remix with cinematic strings and boundless, erupting energy that gives U Don’t Know an expansive, larger than life atmosphere. This one’s going to sweep you away with its majestic swells and regal drops. I actually don’t watch Game Of Thrones (yes, boo on me), but this somehow reminds me of an epic medieval landscape full of dashing drama and rousing suspense. SLANDER has a superbly full plate considering they’ll be playing at Spring Awakening, EDC, Nocturnal Wonderland, Moonrise, Ile Soniq, and Electric Zoo! I bet this remix is going to thrill a lot of heaven trap hungry ears.

Charli XCX’s Need Ur Love has never been more sparkling beautiful, thanks to a rework done by Australian producer Japanese Wallpaper. This is a Charli XCX we haven’t heard in awhile, one more tender, toned down, and delicate. The pop star’s recent music has been pompous and bold, but some of my favorite music by the British artist is still her earlier offerings. This ambient, twinkling official remix reminds me of that era. Japanese Wallpaper takes her into a world of heart rending enchantment.

I really hope dark electro R&B goddess BANKS is working on some new material, because I’m missing her smoky voice and hauntingly sensual soundscapes lots. In the meantime, we take sublime comfort in this new remix of Better by Australian producer Kuren, who sends us into a thundering world of somber majesty on the intense spectacular. Not only do we get to hear BANKS’ shiver inducing, powerful vocals once again, but we’re swept into a bottomless ocean of heightened emotion and vehement passion on the future bass makeover.

Britney Spears to Perform Hits Medley at Billboard Music Awards

Sivan’s BBMAs honor is recognition for making the incredible leap from bedroom producer to global recording star. His 2014 mini-album release, TRXYE, peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and its follow-up, the Wild EP, received social media praise from superstars Sam Smith and Taylor Swift and reached No. 5 in the U.S. and U.K. Wild also opened at No. 1 in Australia. In addition to Sivan, performers on the night will include Justin Bieber, Celine Dion, DNCE, Fifth Harmony, The Go-Go’s, Demi Lovato, Shawn Mendes, Pink, Britney Spears and a collaboration is confirmed with Nick Jonas and Tove Lo.

The last time I featured Australian producer HOUNDED, he had my heart pounding and my palms sweaty with a frenetic and thrilling future house remix of Kanye West’s Touch The Sky. This time, he’s turning down with a gorgeous remix of Zayn Malik’s I Won’t Mind, featuring Naughty Boy. That’s right, keep those fainting spells and fangirl screams to yourselves, girls, this one’s a gentle, dreamy treat to chill out to. It reminds me of some of Ryan Hemsworth’s more mellow and atmospheric tracks, like his recent collaboration with Dawn Golden.

Doom Runners (a Mad Max for children)

Dean O’Gorman with Lea Moreno (Deek and Jada)

Dean is the narrator and one of the protagonists of this Australian film produced also by Nickelodeon.

In a post apocalyptic world, Deek leads a group of children in search of the last unpolluted place on Earth. The Doom Troopers led by the evil Dr. Kao will try to get there first.

Simple in its adventurous plot, it was shot at the end of 1997, and it was a classic for children downunder.

On a personal note, I will forever regret the fact that I stopped watching it on Youtube and when I looked for it again it had been cancelled.

Dean is not present in the very first part of the movie, where he is only the narrator: his voice was very young and very very serious.
