Penny: “Granny, is it true that uncle Ben is moving out today with that man?”

Dawn: “That man is called Oliver, dear. But yes, my baby boy is flying the nest.”

Penny: “He’s not much of a baby. Does that mean Wilf can have his room and I can finally get my room back to myself? Is that what’s going to happen Aunty Liz?”

Elizabeth: “I would say so.”

Penny: “Yess!”

This is my aunt. Shes battling cancer for the 7+ time.
She had both of her breast removed due to cancer in both breast. Shes had lung and brain cancer twice. Liver cancer twice. Shes basically had cancer off and on since 2003.
Thats her today. She woke up at 2pm. Went back to bed around 5pm. And i left without saying goodbye or telling her i love her. I wanted to tell her about all of your guys wishes. But the chemo has just drained all her energy. But she is getting better. She has removed her bed so she can have her special bed(as seen in the photo) and her husband sleep with both of their sons upstairs. Both of their daughters stay downstairs at night in their room next to hers so if anything happens, they will be by her side in a heartbeat. The second eldest has anxiety+depression. Shes taking this all very hard. So is the eldest, hes a little stronger. He helps placing her in bed and holding her cups, pushing her places in her wheelchair. And the two youngest escape through sports and being with friends.
Lets just look at this family. Such a strong family. They are there for each other. Their mom cant even hold a coffee cup anymore, and they help her. Her husband gives her messages almost hourly to help ease the pain she has.
This is such a strong family. None of them deserve this and Auntie Liz, i hope you get better, because i need you too..<3

I was in Tim Hortons when I got the phone call. The phone call that made my heart skip a beat. Of course I knew it was coming. Actually, I had been clutching my phone for over a week hoping for it. But still. Whoa. It took me by surprise.

I truly had no idea how much love I could have for a little person, because since the moment I heard my sister’s voice, “Lizzie! I have a baby girl!” My heart has exploded to three times the size, and this little girl, who currently sleeps in my lap as I type this, has sky rocketed to the top of my favourite person list.

My sister was incredible (natural birth), and it’s been so wonderful watching her breeze into the role of a mother. Her husband has become a super star, making sure baby and mother are happy, and my brother, dad, and mom have all hopped onto the can’t-get-enough-of-her train. It’s been a wonderful, beautiful, awesome few days and I am so blessed I’m home and get to experience this.

This little girl is already so loved, and I truly can’t wait to be a part of the rest of her life, but until then I am soaking up each and every moment of this newborn time, because she is three days old and already growing too fast for my liking.

Love Auntie(!) Liz
(Who is currently on night duty💖)

Dating your best friend's cousin

You were driving down to your best friend’s aunt’s house to visit for the holidays. You would be spending a whole five days with her and her two sons, Jack and Luke. To say you were excited would be an understatement. The Hemmings brothers were undeniably attractive despite how your best friend contradicted you. But there was something different about Luke. Maybe it was the effortlessly styled blonde hair, the rebellious lip ring or maybe even just the way he walked. Somehow he always seemed to stand out from the crowd.
Y/bf/n blasting music through the speakers brought you out of your daze.
“Come on, y/n, sing with me!”
“No thanks, I think I’ll let you murder this song on your own.”, you laughed as y/bf/n sang horribly out of tune.
“Suit yourself!”
It was a relitively long journey there but five hours seemed to slip by unoticed as you watched the world go by from the passenger window. The thought of Luke taking over your thoughts on occasion. Soon enough y/bf/n was slamming her well manicured hand down on the horn of the car and creating an ungodly loud ‘beeeeep beep beep beep beeeeeeep’.

“AUNTY LIZ! YOU FAVOURITE NEICE IS HERE TO SEE YOU!” , Y/bf/b screamed at the top of her lungs. You opened your car door and just as you stood back up to look over the car, there was Luke. He and Jack stood at the door smiling as Liz came out to greet the two of you. She hugged your best friend tightly and squealed with delight. She and y/bf/n were similar in many ways; being loud was one of them.

“Come here, honey! I haven’t seen you since last summer!”
Liz beconed you over and wrapped her free arm around you too. When Liz let go she headed straight for the boot of the car and you did too, not feeling like you knew the boys enough to fist bump and high five them like y/bf/n was doing. You grabbed two of the many heavy suitcases you and y/bf/n had packed and hauled them up the front path as Luke and Jack descended from the door step. Jack walked passed you with a quick “hey, what’s up, y/n?” and joined his mother, while Luke stopped to take a bag from your hand.

“Let me get that.”, he said with a smile. He picked up the heavy suitcase like it was weightless but walked slowly to keep pace with you.
“Trust my cousin to leave us to bring in all the cases.”, he said.
“Yeah, she gets a little excited and I guess sometimes her manners go out the window.”
“Manners?! Didn’t know she had any to begin with!”
You were free to laugh as flirtatiously as possible since y/bf/n was out of earshot.
Once inside the door way, Luke took the second bag from your hand and told you to go find y/bf/n upstairs.
He said “we can handle it.” and winked at you. You ignored the little butterflies in your stomach and shuffled up strairs finding y/bf/n in the guest room. It was huge with a rather luxurious king sized bed in the middle. Y/bf/n was laying flat out on the bed, sinking deeper and deeper into the soft duvet. You laid down beside her and closed your eyes, a certain blonde coming to mind.

“I love it here.”, Y/bf/n said. “I used to come here all the time when I was a kid. We’d have water fights during summer. Jack and I would gang up on Luke since he was shorter than us. Hard to think he’s over six foot tall now.” And she laughed while you hummed contently remembering the way you had to look up at his tall frame just to find his blue eyes.
“And when it was getting cold we’d all run inside from playing and Liz would have hot chocolate waiting for us in the kitchen. It was amazing.”
Y/bf/n’s reminincing was cut short by Jack knocking on the door.
“Mum’s got lunch ready, you coming?”, he asked from behind the door.
“Be there in a sec.”, Y/bf/n said.

You walked down stairs to find Luke, Liz and Jack already sat in the dining room so you both wandered in their direction to grab a seat. You sat opposite Luke and y/bf/n to your right. Small talk began, the usual questions like ‘how you doing’ or 'how’s your summer been so far’. Then Liz asked you “So what are your plans once you finish school this year, y/n?”
This was a question you had prepared for. You had mapped out your future since you were five years old. “As soon as I finish school I plan to go travelling for a year or so. Go see different cultures and different ways of life and just to venture away from home I guess, but as soon as that’s done I plan to go to a music school not far from here.”
Everyone looked shocked as you had everything planned out to a ’t’ and ready for next year. You looked up to find Luke staring at you, surprised by your answer it seemed but he quickly looked away as he started to blush. “Well, it seems like you have everything sorted out, y/n”, Luke said to your surprise. “Yeah, I guess I do.”, you grinned back as you both look at each other for a moment longer before Jack coughed as though to bring you both back to reality before Liz or y/bf/n noticed what had just happened.

Later that night y/bf/n and you unpcacked the rest of your things. You each took one side of the room and a side of the bed to match. You changed into your pjammas and brushed your teeth, making strange faces at each other in the mirror. By midnight you were both snuggled up in bed and giggling away excitedly to each other.
“Okay okay, we need to sleep before we wake up the whole house!”
“Okay I’m sleeping, I’m sleeping! Goodnight, y/bf/n.”
“Goodnight, y/n.”

“Y/n?”
“What?”
“M'thirsty.”
You sighed and got up out of bed knowing that y/bf/n wouldn’t quit her 'polite’ demands until she got exactly what she wanted. You tiptoed down stairs to see dim light glowing from under the door to the kitchen. You pushed the door open slightly, wincing as if that would stop the ear piercing creaking, and saw Luke standing at the fridge.

“Luke?”
“Oh, sorry. Did I wake you?”
“No, it’s alright. Your cousin wanted a drink.”
“She should get off her lazy ass and get it herself.”
“As if.” You replied and made your way over. You stared at the many cupboards surrounding you and wondered which one concealed a glass.
“Where do you keep the glasses in this house?” You asked Luke.
He put down the sandwich that had apeared in his hand and shut the fridge door, leaving you in complete darkness.
“Sit down. I can get it for you.”
“Luke?”
“What?”
“I can’t see where the chairs are.”
“Oh”
Luke’s hands landed on your shoulders and guided you to the kitchen chairs and you gingerly sat down. As your eyes began to adjust to the darkness you saw the outline of luke. His broad shoulders and messy hair, his slim torsoe and long legs. He walked gracefully over to the sink and poured water into a glass for y/bf/n. You couldn’t quite see him anymore but heard the water running and the drip drop of water once he turned the tap off.

He apeared next to you and pulled out a chair, sitting down and leaving his knee to brush against yours.
“Are you excited about staying?”, he asked.
Of course you were, for obvious reasons but you played it as cool as you could while basking in the body heat that radiated from his skin.
“Yeah, y/bf/n talks about you guys a lot.”
“All good things I hope.”
“Mostly.”, you replied in a flirtatious tone that surprised even yourself.
Luke turned his head to look straight at you and perhaps the darkness decieved you but his eyes were slowly falling to your lips. Before you could find out a sleepy y/bf/n stumbled into the room.

“How long does it take to get a glass of water?”
“Sorry,”, you mumbled as you stood up from the chair and grabbed the glass Luke had filled.
“Here you go.”
“Thanks. Now come on, y/n.”, she said as she exited the kitchen leaving you and Luke alone again. You didn’t quite want to leave but you knew it was too late to be staying up for a chat. You sadly said goodnight to Luke and thanked him for the help.

“No problem. Sweet dreams.”, he said and you climbed the strairs silently, having a strong incling that you’d dream of him tonight.

You wake up the next morning to a snoring y/bf/n and a chapping at the bedroom door. You slowly get out of bed trying not to wake y/bf/n and slowly tiptoe to the door to find Jack standing there.
“Morning y/n. My mum wanted to let you know that we’re going to a water park today so get your stuff together then come downstairs. We’re leaving at 11.”
“Oh okay. I guess I better get y/bf/n up, then”, you say with a giggle wondering how the hell you are going to do this without waking the dormant beast inside her. Y/bf/n isn’t the best when it comes to being woken up in the morning and you’ve learned from past experiences sadly. So after saying a quick 'see you soon’ to Jack you walk over to the bed. Slowly waking up, after a few grunts and swears she finally moves from the comfort of the blankets and wanders to the bathroom to do her “morning routine” as she calls it. As for you, you change into a bikini and chuck on some shorts and a top and pack the bag for the water park. 'This is going to be one fun day’ you thought to yourself.

After around 30 minutes or so you and y/bf/n are finally ready and head downstairs to find everyone sitting having the usual kind of conversation. You say your 'good mornings’ before heading over and getting breakfast and soon after you all get comfortable in the car and head to the water park.

When you arrive it isn’t busy considering it’s only just opened and you were close to the front of the queue to get in. Y/bf/n was reminiscing on that one time she came here with Luke, Jack and Liz as a kid and you were just day dreaming about anything and everything (anything and everything about Luke, that is). Soon enough you all got in and went to find some sun loungers before quickly running into the giant swimming pool just a few meters away. You and y/bf/n were acting like the biggest kids splashing each other and just being plain old weird. You even caught Luke staring at you both with a small smile growing on his face as you turned and looked at him a few times. Around lunch time hunger set in on everyone besides you and Luke, so y/bf/n, Jack and Liz all headed down towards some food places that were on the opposite side of the park.

Luke and you sat sun bathing beside each other on the white plastic loungers. You kept your sun glasses over your eyes and laid back, pretending not to care that luke was shirtless with beads of water running off his skin only inches away.

“Hey, y/n? Come with me for a sec?”
You pushed yourself up on your elbows to see him clearer.
“Where to?”
“I want to show you something. It’s awesome - I promise you’ll like it.”
“How do I know Jack and y/bf/n aren’t waiting for me around the corner to pelt me with water guns or something?”
That was certainly not something you were in the mood for.
“You’ll just have to trust me.”
The silkiness of his damp hair and gleam of his refreshing smile made you cave.
Damn your hormonal instincts.
“Okay fine. But no pranks, I don’t trust y/bf/n.”
“Me neither.”, he said, holding out a hand to help you up and clearly unaware you’d already heard all about how he’d been ganged up on as a kid.
“I can’t imagine why.” You replied sarcasticly.

“So how much longer? We’ve been walking for ages!”
It had been at least 20 minutes of trudging through the water park, passing the water flumes, the tug baots, the rubber rings and the ice cream stand.
“We’re here!”, Luke beamed as he began to quickly scale some slippery steps and dissapeared behind a fake palm tree. You took your time to ensure you kept your balance on the steps but Luke soon grew impatient and reappeared. He grabbed your hand and pulled you up with him. When you reached the top you realised that Luke had brought you to the very top of the park. A secret hideout just away from the main path that over looked everything, from the rides and main pool to the sun loungers and cafés. You could even see the red of y/bf/n’s t-shirt accompanied by two other tiny ant like beings, miles down. While you stared out over the park in awe of the sight you failed to notice the rosiness of lukes cheeks as he glanced down at your still intertwined hands, smiling at the warmth of your skin against his.

“This is amazing! How did you find this place?”, you asked Luke with little glints of excitment in his eyes.
“Jack and I used to run off a lot when we were little. We were hiding from my mum and stumbled across this place.”
“The perfect escape.”
You stared back out over the park and Luke’s hand wrapped tighter around yours, not that you were complaining, and pulled you over to a large rock and sat down. You perched yourself beside him and for what seemed like hours the two of you stayed, silently watching the world go by. The buzzing of Luke’s phone triggered the memory in your head that luke and you weren’t actually the only people on the planet. You felt your cheeks redden and you tugged your fingers from his hand as Luke spoke into the phone.
'This is insane’ you thought, 'This is so not okay’.
You had been holding Luke’s hand for over an hour, he’d been letting his arm graze your’s ever so gently and even the tiny little freckles on his angelic face were visable due to the closeness. And y/bf/n would positively kill you if she found out.
The second Luke shoved his phone back into his pocket you stood up and began to walk back down the steps, to which Luke frowned disappointedly. As if to put up a protest he took his time in following you but eventually did, very slowly.

You sat beside Luke for the car ride home. Well, really, he sat beside you. He’d practically pushed Jack out of the way. The impulsive instinct to smile at Luke and talk to him, interact and generally get closer was conflicting with the knowledge that y/bf/n would kill you. She could be very protective of him. Despite him being three months older she’d always refer to him has her baby cousin. Of course it annoyed the hell out of Luke and he’d pout his pink lips and cross his toned arms over his chest and huff adorably and it was becoming increasingly difficult to ignore his blue eyes trying to catch your own.
Liz eventually broke your train of throught.

“So, did everyone have a nice day?”
“Totally!” Jack and y/bf/n said in unison and 'JINX!'ing each other afterwords.
“Yeah,”, Luke piped up, “it was awesome!”, smiling straight at you and nudging your side with his shoulder.
Your heart fluttered while your head was screaming. You smiled back sheepishly but your stomach turned at the sight of his apparent frown and his sparkly eyes averting shyly to the window. You felt bad but you knew you couldn’t show anyone how you actually felt. You were still blushing at him and his awkwardness but also how nice and cute he was.
“Y/n, are you okay? You’re looking a little red”, y/bf/n asked, generally concerned about you. You had to quickly think up a lie. She couldn’t know you were blushing because of Luke. She couldn’t know how you really felt.
“I’m feeling pretty sick.”
“What is it? What’s wrong?”
“I feel really warm and like I’m going to faint or something”
This is when Luke’s head shot up as to make sure you were okay but he quickly came to realise what you were actually doing and he had a slight giggle to himself. You knew it was wrong but you couldn’t let y/bf/n find out. Soon enough the car pulled up in the driveway of the house and you got out of the car as quickly as you could and raced upstairs into your room. Nobody bothered you as they knew you were feeling 'sick’ so you stayed there yourself for a while before you fell asleep, exhausted from the day.

You woke up the next morning with a throbbing headache and you knew this was karma for lying about being 'sick’ yesterday. Y/bf/n had asked earlier that morning how you were feeling and you told the truth, you felt like shit. Her and Liz we’re going out for a little auntie and niece day since you weren’t feeling good and Jack went away to his friends house and you weren’t sure what Luke was up to. You decided it would be a good idea to head downstairs and grab some pills to make this headache less painful but as you walked into the kitchen there was Luke sitting at the counter with his laptop in front of him. You didn’t know what to say. You wanted to be distant to hide your feelings but at the same time you really didn’t want to at all.
“Morning Luke”, you said with as much enthusiasm as you could but feeling that shit didn’t really do much for the entire 'enthusiasm’ thing.
“Morning”, was all he could mutter not even looking up at you from his laptop.
“Are you okay?”
“Oh yeah, I’m doing fantastic”, he said with so much sarcasm it oozed out of him.
“Woah, who shit in your cereal?”, you tried to have a good comeback but you sounded more like an angry 10 year old swearing for the first time.
“You”, he muttered so quietly that you only just made it out.
“What?”, you asked taken back. You didn’t think you had done anything wrong. Heck you hadn’t spoken to the boy since yesterday.
“Yes, you. I like you and I thought you liked me but after that stunt yesterday it doesn’t seem like it. Why were you being so close to me then so distant? I know we aren’t anything but you seem like you don’t even want to know me. I show you something that so important to me and you act like you don’t care. You act like you want me then completely cut me off.”
You thought he’d have more anger than that but it was just a sad sound. He had a sad look on his face when you looked at him, staring into his eyes but he quickly diverted them back to the screen as he became too shy to continue looking at you in the eye.

If you thought the headache was painful, the guilt was 1000 times worse.

He typed away on his computer like nothing happened and you might have believed you imagined it if it were not for his clenched fists, brows knotted together. That might well be tears you see briming in his eyes.

“I did care-”, you began, “to be important enough to you that you’d show me that place. And I’m sorry that I gave you the cold shoulder, Luke.”
The mention of his name must have made the situation all the more real as his eyes finally met your’s again.
“And I’m sorry that I made you believe I don’t feel anything for you.”
You looked down at the ground and tried to cover the pink flush on your cheeks with your hair but to no avail. You heard the hair raising sound of chair legs being scrapped against the hard tiled floor as Luke stood up from his seat. He made his way over to you, so close that you could feel his warm breath on your skin.

“So… you do… want me?”, he asked cautiously and traced your hips with his finger tips like you were precious China that could break at any moment.
“Luke, I do, but, that’s irrelevant.”
“How can that be irrelevant?”, he said in a whisper like you were the only person in the world who had permission to hear. With his index finger beneath your chin he lifted your lips dangerously close to his.
You knew how reckless it was to fall for someone who you could never have, someone so far out of reach. But in that moment, with little Stars dancing in Luke’s eyes and the fire igniting in the pit of your stomach, you didn’t care in the least.

The kiss was pretty perfect meaning it was going perfect until logic and reason pushed its way back inside your spinning head. You put your hands firmly against his chest and pushed him away abruptly. This was truly ludicrous. He was your best friend’s cousin and it was wrong.
“You’re like a yoyo.”, he said exasperated with your to-and-fro antics.
“You can’t honestly think that this is okay.”, you almost screamed as you ripped away from his grasp and walked out the room. You sat down on the sofa and stared blankly at the dark screen of the tv, making an unyielding wall across your chest with your arms. The silence falling around you was highly unsetteling and made even worse when Luke walked into the room with a defeated look on his face. He sat down beside you but as far away from you on the couch as seemed physically possible. Neither of you bothered to turn on the tv and instead continued to sit in deafening silence until Luke finally spoke up.
“I’m sorry, y/n, but I can’t pretend I don’t feel anything for you and you just admitted you feel the same. I can’t just hide it in front of you, my family or even y/bf/n. You may think this is wrong but why is it?! Yes, you’re y/bf/n’s best friend but it can’t be that big of a deal, can it? If you like someone you can’t hide it just because there is someone else who you feel wouldn’t accept it. If you told y/bf/n and she got mad then I’d say something. I’d stand up for us and I just want to know if you would to. But I need you to know that I like you, a hell of a lot.”
Your stomach flipped and your palms began to sweat. You couldn’t look at him in fear of throwing all caution to the wind so you sat like a statue, completely ignoring his blue eyes boring into the side of your face.
“Please say something. Anything.”, he pleaded desperately.
“I need time. Just give me a few hours to think it over.”, you said shifting in your seat and feeling more guilty by the second.
He sighed and turned back to his uncomfortable position on the couch and started vacantly at the tv.
“Fine.”
And with that you walked swiftly out of the room, down the hall and into the back garden, in dire need of some fresh air.

At around midnight you had finally decided what you wanted to do. You had sat in your bed for a few hours, whilst y/bf/n snored, and you had finally decided you wanted to try. You snuck downstairs to find Luke still sitting in the living room watching the tv. You slowly opened the door and he turned around quickly to see your silhouette in the door frame. He turned back around with an expression you couldn’t quite understand on his face but you walked over and took a seat next to him before whispering a quick 'hey’. You had become awkward and shy after earlier.
“Well, I’m going to take it that you’ve thought about it?”
“Yeah, I have and I’m willing to try, us, if you do too but we need to keep it quiet until I feel ready to say. I don’t want to ruin things with y/bf/n.”
“You know I want to that. And I understand if you want to keep it quiet for a bit.”
“Thank you for understanding, Luke”
“Hey, it’s okay.”
He looked into your eyes before slowly cupping your cheek and slowly leaning in. You could feel his nose against your’s just before his lips touched your’s. It wasn’t a kiss full of lust and want but it was a kiss where he showed you that this was going to be okay. To you, this was a kiss full of love.

The next day, Liz had work, Jack had work, y/bf/n was meeting up with a few old friends and Luke was shopping. Sadly you had no plans. You laid around watching tv and whatever else you could find to do and eventually out of bordem you went to find a drink in the kitchen. Soon enough you heard the front door slam shut as you were about to wander upstairs. You felt hands slide around your waist and you turned to see Luke smiling at you.
“Hey, babe”, he said before quickly pecking your lips.
“Hey, how was shopping?”
'Boring’ was the last thing that was said before he started to kiss you passionately and soon enough it was a full on make out session. You gave him a cheeky smile before you tugged has hand and skipped through to the sitting-room with him following closely behind. Luke pushed you down on the couch by your hips and kissed you roughly from your lips all the way down to your collar bones, making sure to cover every inch of your skin. His blonde hair felt like silk between your fingers, butterflies were erupting in your stomach and the goosebumps were evident on Luke’s pale skin when the front door opened…

You shoved Luke off of you and, stunned, he fell sideways onto the floor. Your heart raced with the fear and admitted excited of being caught. You dragged Luke up from the floor and raced to the other side of the room, quickly fixing your t-shirt that had risen up considerably high. Luke cleared his throat and stood a little too casually with his hands on his hips as Jack walked into the room.
“w'assup bro?”, Luke said, his face still very pink.
“Nothing.”, Jack replied with a suspicious frown on his face. Jack walked passed Luke and headed up stairs but not before turning back to Luke and asking, “are you wearing Chapstick?”, with a tilt of his head.
You made a quiet squeal of embarrassment and walked briskly into the kitchen to avoid the awkwardness of the sticky situation. A few minutes later Luke wandered in, grabbing an apple and taking a bite and saying, “Well that was close”, before winking. He gave you a kiss on the cheek before walking out into the hall and upstairs. This left you confused. Luke was normally the shy boy with cheeks stained pink with nerves but after that make out session he seemed so full of confidence and flirty. Maybe it was successfully dodging a close call with Jack that left him cocky and confident, not that you were complaining.

The next day you were up bright and early with y/bf/n still dragging her lazy ass out of bed. Liz wanted your last day here with the her and the boys to be a fun family day out. She wanted you to make the most of your time here however what you had in mind was a little different. She had planned a day to a theme park but you’d planned a day with Luke. You grudged putting on your jeans instead of a flirty pair of cotton shorts and brushed your hair. “Today should be fun”, you said unenthusiasticly while y/bf/n still rubbed her eyes and wandered sleepy around the room looking for some clothes.
“Yeah, but Luke doesn’t even like roller coasters so I don’t know why Liz is taking us there.”, she said.
The cogs of your devious brain were turning and you smirked to yourself. Regardless of Liz’s intentions she had in fact given you the perfect opportunity.
“I’m not feeling too good.”, you said, planting the seed in y/bf/n’s head.
“No?”
And your plan was in motion.

The five of you reached the gates of the theme park, Jack and y/bf/n running ahead like children while Liz laughed wholeheartedly.
“The eldest act like the youngest.”, she said with a satisfied sigh.
Luke and you trailed behind and walked slowly.
Y/bf/n grabbed your arm and tried to tug you over to the huge and daunting rollercoaster.
“Come on!.”, she squealed, “let’s hurry up and get in line!”
“Oh um,” you began, giving Luke a sugestive glance, “I’m still not feeling too good. Maybe I’ll sit this one out.”
In no mood to wait y/bf/n gave you a sympathetic smile and dragged Jack over instead.
Liz put her hand on your forehead and frowned. “You do feel a little hot, sweetie. Luke isn’t a fan of the rides either so how 'bout you two go find something a little… slower, and I’ll go get us some food.”
You smiled appreciatively and as soon as Liz was out of the picture Luke snaked his arm around your waist.
“Smooth.”, he said with a cool smirk.
“Oh, I know.”
Luke took your hand and the two of you headed off into the park.

You both wandered off to find a table not far from all the rides. It ended up taking a while as the park was pretty busy. Somehow you were lucky to find a table with three chairs never mind five. You finally found one and sat down before you and Luke sat in a comfortable silence. You didn’t know what to say to him as you didn’t know what would happen once you left (today being the last day you’d spend with him). You were nervous for what would happen but you did decide you shouldn’t be worrying about that until you leave tomorrow morning. For now you could just enjoy Luke’s pleasent company. You moved closer until you were resting your head on his chest and he spoke up.
“Hey, babe, you know what we should do? Go on the tea cups.”
“Are you serious?”, you said with a giggle.
“Yeah. I don’t like big scary rides so that’s easy, right?”
“Yeah, sure, okay.”
He pushed the chair back before standing up and taking your hand in his. You walked over to the cups to see Jack and y/bf/n in the queue for a huge rollercoaster just a few hundred meters away. To your surprise there were quite a few adults in line so you didn’t feel as childish as you had felt before hand. Soon enough it was your turn to get on the ride and Luke began to run to a blue cup whilst dragging you by the hand. You had never seen him so excited to get on a ride before but you smiled at the sight. You both sat down and Luke put his arm casually around your shoulder, snuggling you in and kissing your cheek. The giant cup began to spin and the ride gradually began to speed up. Luke laughed, genuinely amused at the children’s roller coatser.
“You’re cute when you’re having fun.”, you said smiling at him. You tried to tuck your stray wispy hairs behind your ear but to no avail.
“You’re beautiful when you don’t even try.”, he wishered. The rosey cheeks you so adored had crept their way back onto Luke’s face and you smiled at his words. He swiped the hair out of your face and held it back while he placed a lingering kiss on your lips. You stayed in a dizzy state for the entire ride and you were sure that at least 60% of that was caused by Luke’s kiss and the way his fingers fiddled with the ends of your hair. When you walked off the ride, both a little unsteady from the spinning, Luke stopped in his tracks and turned to face you. His hands tightly gripped your waist and he pulled you in for a long hard kiss once again. His arms held you in place, not that you had any intention of going elsewhere. When he pulled away he kept his eyes closed like he was afraid of something, as if something was about to happen that he just couldn’t stand.

“You have no idea how much I want you to stay.”
“I wish I could too, Luke. C'mon we should probably head back. Your mum might have food.”, you said whilst slowly beginning to walk back in the direction of the table.
“No, wait, please. I can’t hold your hand or kiss you over there. Can we just stay here a minute, just us?”
“Yeah, I like the sound of that.”
The two of you stood in a blissful silence. Luke had his eyes shut and his forehead resting against yours, his hands moulding to shape of your hips as he tried to savour the moment. You studied his face and intertwined your hands in his hair, trying to imprint the taste of his lips and the smell of his skin into your brain…

You began to head back to the table and Luke had a frown on his face. You had a feeling it had something to do with the loss of contact, since you couldn’t even hold his hand. Liz greeted you both with a big smile before asking where you both had been. You told her you had gone to the tea cups since you at least wanted to go on one ride whilst you were here and she understood that. She had gotten you and Luke some food and you both tucked in as you were quite hungry. By this point it was early afternoon and you hadn’t eaten in a few hours; not since earlier that morning. As you were enjoying your food y/bf/n and Jack walked over with a rather blank expression on their faces. Y/bf/n felt sick after that huge rollercoaster and you didn’t know what was up with Jack. They both sat down behind their food and began to tuck in whilst you and Luke were still eating.
“Hey bro, can I talk to you for a minute”, jack said in a stern voice as he wiped suace from his chin, giving Luke the death stare.
“Yeah, sure.”, Luke said confused before he looked back at you and walked away.

Luke’s PoV

I walked with my brother a little away from the group until we were out of earshot. He didn’t exactly look happy with me.

“Well that certainly didn’t take you long.”
“What?”, I asked quite confused.
“You got y/n to fall for you pretty quick.”, he began and my stomach sank immediately.
“Not bad bro, really, but couldn’t you have picked a girl who wasn’t your cousin’s best friend?”
“It’s not like I meant for it to happen. She’s pretty great, you know? I like her a lot.”
I tried to come off as nonchalant but I doubt it worked. I couldn’t literally feel my face heating up at the thought of her sparkly eyes and bright smile.
“I damn well knew there was something going on yesterday. You don’t wear fuckin’ Chapstick!”
I had to laugh at that.
“Yeah, I can’t believe you bought that!”, I said laughing almost uncontrollably now.
“You won’t be laughing like that when y/bf/n finds out.”
My mood dropped instantly at the thought of having to tell y/bf/n. She would freak.
“Jack, you can’t tell her! I promised y/n we’d keep it a secret. She doesn’t want y/bf/n to be mad at her.”
“Well, she won’t hear it from me. I don’t even want to be a part of that shit storm.”
My stomach churned at the thought and I followed Jack back to the table, acting like nothing happened.

Your PoV

You saw Luke wander over with Jack and you knew something had happened. You weren’t sure what but you knew something had happened. He gave you a look as if to let you know he’d tell you later. You and y/bf/n had just been talking about how great the trip has been. Y/bf/n didn’t want to leave and you knew that but she didn’t know just how much you didn’t want to leave either. Without any other justification other than 'I have a huge crush on your cousin’ you decided it would be best not to tell her. You and Luke occasionally gave each other a glance but you never really spoke the rest of the day which made you wonder what actually happened between him and Jack. You, Liz and y/bf/n talked about anything and everything and it made you forget about leaving for at least a little while.
The car ride home was hilarious. Luke started playing some Green Day songs and everyone in the car began to scream the lyrics. It was funny because you have childhood memories of singing along to Green Day. He played Halsey, Blink-182, All Time Low, Don Broco and you found some songs you slowly began to love.

That night everyone was sitting in the living room watching a movie and you glanced over at Luke and he was staring right back. You slowly shook your head in the direction of the door and you stood up and said “I need to use the bathroom.”. He knew what you were doing and he knew this meant he was going to have to tell you what had happened a few hours earlier. You walked upstairs to meet him in the room you shared with y/bf/n. He wandered in a few minutes later and shut the door slowly behind him.
“So?”
“Okay, Jack knows about us.”
“Wait what?!”
“He saw us kissing on the tea cups and being all 'coupley’ as he would say.”
“Oh god. He’s going to tell y/bf/n and she’s going to kill me, Luke!”
“Y/n, calm down okay? He promised he wouldn’t say anything. He doesn’t want anything to do with it.”
You began to pace around the room with worry at what might happen if Jack happened to change his mind. If he decided that y/bf/n deserved to know. Luke grabbed both your hands and held on to them tightly as he looked into your eyes.
“Please don’t worry, alright? My brother isn’t going to say a thing.”
He kissed your forehead and pulled you in for a hug and both of you stood there for a few minutes, just relishing in each other’s company.
“I’ve been meaning to ask you something-”, he said, “but I keep getting nervous and putting it off.”
You parted slightly and looked up at him but he purposely avoided your gaze.
“What is it?”
“I was just wondering… um… Well, what’s going to happen once you leave?”
You frowned and gave him a puzzled look not knowing what he meant.
“I mean, do you still want to see me… or will I go back to being just… your best friend’s cousin?”
You couldn’t help but giggle and you pecked his lips to reassure him.
“As long as you don’t mind a five hour drive to come visit me then I’d be more than happy to keep seeing you.”, you said with a smile.
He grinned like a Cheshire Cat and leaned his forehead against yours as he said “a five hour drive? I’m sure I can manage.”, and squeezed your hips with his fingers.
“Now, I better get back down stairs because no one in the world takes this long to pee.”, you giggled and Luke had to bite his lip to hide his laughter.
“I’ll see you down there”, he said with a quick kiss on your lips and watched you leave the room with a smirk on his face.

The next morning you woke up around 8 and you hated the thought that today you were leaving. Today you had to leave Luke and his family. You pulled the cover over your head before you turned over to see y/bf/n just waking up and shaking her head at the idea of getting out of bed. You got up, started to play some music and started to pack all your things. As much as you were only there for a few days you had so many things with you. To your family you were known as 'the over packer’ when it came to travelling but 'it’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it’. You and y/bf/n ended up having a little dance around the bedroom before you were getting called from downstairs. You made out the faint voice of Liz saying she had made pancakes for breakfast since it was the final day of your trip. As you both walked out the room so did Jack and Luke, who looked like walking zombies.
“Thanks for the music by the way. Great alarm in the mornings.”, Jack muttered sarcastically before you, Luke and y/bf/n laughed at his morning grumpiness. Y/bf/n was in fits of laughter as she found it hilarious to annoy the hell out of her cousins.

When you all walked into the dining room there were a plate of panics stacked up in the middle of the table surrounded by Nutella, golden syrup, butter and a few other things to put on them.

“You didn’t have to go to all this trouble.”, you said politely.
“Nonsense”, Liz started, “only the best for my girls.”
“What about us?”, Jack exclaimed clearly unimpressed and Luke joined in.
“Yeah, what about the only kids here you actually gave birth to!”
Liz gave them both a stern glare and walked out of the kitchen.
“It’s because you’re adopted”, y/bf/n mumbled as she shovelled pancakes and syrup into her mouth.
With a kick from under the table and a frown, Luke and Jack both said “shut up!” In unison.
Liz called Jack through into the sitting room and with a tired groan he complied. It was relitively quiet apart from the screaching of y/bf/n’s fork against her plate as she practically inhaled her pancakes.
Luke and you ate at a normal pace meaning y/bf/n was first to finish and shout “I cal dibs on first shower!”, and she ran upstairs. Luke glanced out the door and back, moving to sit on the seat beside you. He pulled out his phone and handed it to you under the table saying, “any chance of getting your number, sweetheart?”.
You proceeded to type your number into his phone, trying to ignore the goosebumps raising on your skin as his breath tickled your neck.
“Done.”, you smiled and he kissed your cheek, lingering for a moment while his thumb caressed your bottom lip.
“I figured I could come out and see you next September break?”, Luke said, “I have a week long holiday from school so I wouldn’t have to worry about that.”.
His gaze didn’t meet yours in fear that what he said might be a little too forward and you’d be freaked out. Little did he know you were extatic at the idea. He just continued to squeeze your hand with his and run his thumb along your lip.
“Missing me already, Luke?”
“That depends on wether or not you’d find it weird if I was.”
“Not at all.”, you whispered and nudged your nose against his and kissed him slowly.

You had never found it easy to say goodbye to people. Maybe you got attached easily or maybe you just didn’t like leaving but this was hard. Liz came to give you a huge hug explaining that you’re welcome here any time and you secretly hoped so. She might be seeing you a bit more than usual. Jack came and gave you a hug before whispering “You need to tell her, y/n. Don’t worry, okay?”, and when he pulled away you gave him a small smile. And then it came to saying goodbye to Luke. He couldn’t look directly into your eyes. You both had to try to not look upset or that you were holding on a little too tight for what 'friends’ would as of course only jack knew about you both. You whispered “I’ll miss you”, before he pulled back and gave you a quick kiss on the cheek when nobody was watching. You walked out the front door and put your bags in the back of the car before walking to the passenger seat. You look back and Luke, Liz and Jack are standing at the door to wave goodbye. You hop into the car and a tear begins to roll down your cheek and you quickly wiped it away before y/bf/n noticed. You waved goodbye as you pulled out of the drive way. A few minutes into the drive home, your phone wouldn’t stop buzzing. You knew who the messages were from but you just couldn’t bring yourself to open them at that moment.
“Who the hell is texting you so much?”, Y/bf/n asked curiously with a giggle. You decided this had to be said before it’s too late and you just spat it out.
“Luke.”
“Really?! Why?”
You hold your breath for a second before coming straight out and saying…

“We’re kinda…together”, and you held on tightly to your seat as y/bf/n almost crashed the car…
