Until about 1955 the base of the film stock was a chemical nitrate compound. Because this material is perishable, all nitrate films in their original state will be irrevocably lost. All that remains are some blurred stains, decomposing before our very eyes.

I feel like White Heat doesn’t know what kind of movie it wants to be. Is it a gangster story, a bromance, or a police procedural? White Heat: The Cops have Science Now would be a perfectly appropriate title for it, honestly.
