astral thoughts

I created this image, but the diagram resembles ones I’ve seen in the works of Gede Parma and Christopher Penczak (credit where credit is due!) and neatly describes one approach to the loose architecture of reality as experienced by a journeying witch or hedgerider. While your mileage may vary, and you might see reality as completely different in structure, I have found this map, a vesica pisces, to be useful in categorizing other worlds and also parts of myself.

“Come, my love. Let me hold you”

Loki practically begged. She responded with a playful smile, that seemed to say “make me”. He looked at her with longing, no matter how much he pleaded and begged for her touch, she would not give in. She was an illusion but she was just like you; she had the same eyes that longed for adventure just as yours had and the same hair that he had run his fingers through, although he would never speak of his feelings and would often push your love away, his affections for you were genuine. Loki could fool himself with your image for days on end but
He was completely and utterly alone.

I see so many posts on people dying to get into astral traveling. Let me repeat what many others have said before: the astral isn’t a safe place. It’s not all butterflies and rainbows. There are a lot of terrible things that can happen to you and I guarantee you if you begin traveling, you will be faced with one of these things one day. Please be sure you’re ready to take on the fallout of those situations.

Sign Your Work!

This post is difficult for me to write because I struggle to put it all into words concisely and in a fashion understandable to people besides me. Nevertheless, I’m giving it a go.

I’m here to talk about signatures in magick and witchcraft. No, I’m not talking about an “auric energy signature” or anything like that. I’m talking about anything (and literally anything) that a person does in order to make their identity known to the forces they’re working with. There are a lot of ways to do this, which will be discussed shortly, but first, I’ll explain why I feel it’s a good thing to include in your rituals and other workings.

The spirit world, or whatever one wants to call it, functions very differently than the physical world, but there are commonalities, and one of these concerns how you are perceived.

The fact is, if the spirits or forces you’re dealing with, however impersonal, have no idea who you are, it’s quite unlikely that they’ll be willing to help you. Just like in the physical world. This is why it bothers me when I read beginner witch books that give ten different example spells, all invoking a different Godform.

To make any of them work properly, the witch would need to at least develop an acquaintanceship with the Godform in question. Even then, it wouldn’t work as well as it would if he or she had an actual relationship to the Godform. There’s also the issue of authority and reputation. Everyone must be aware that it’s possible to anger a spirit, or to inspire indifference. I’m not saying that you have to seem extremely powerful in the traditional sense to forge such relationships, only that you have to be open to them and willing to work for it.

So, lets say you’ve done this, and have a sort of reputation. That’s great, and it will improve your magick exponentially. The thing is, though, the spirit world is a confusing place. Things can get lost in the shuffle with various entities. How are they going to know what’s yours and coming from you? This isn’t true so much with Godforms you’re very close to, but can happen with other beings.

A way to get around this, and enhance your magick, is to sign your work. Many magicians and witches already do this, but they may not think of it this way or realize why it helps. Plenty of us have personal sigils we’ve developed that we might use in our grimoires, books of shadows, or magical diary. This is useful, but it’s doubly useful to somehow work it into every spell or working you do.

There are various ways to do this, which go well-beyond the tried and true personal sigil. They can be tailored to the type of magick you usually do. I practice a lot of herbal magick, so I use a particular herb (well, actually a flower) to do this - I add a small, almost homeopathic amount of it to every preparation, potion, or mixture I create for myself. I don’t do it when I’m doing things for other people, but using it for myself in this way has worked excellently. What flower is it? I’d rather not say. It probably helps that I had a pre-developed connection with said flower for many years, but there’s no reason a beginner witch couldn’t do the same thing.

So, beyond plants and sigils, how could this be done? Here’s some ideas I’ve brainstormed!

If you’re musically inclined, you could use a few notes for your signature, and hum or sing them at crucial points during your work.

  • Song lyrics and poetry may work, too, but it’d probably be best to keep it short and easy to remember.
  • A particular Tarot card from a particular deck, physically used or simply visualized with great intensity.
  • A work of art, again, used or visualized.
  • A completely ordinary object, such as a pen, or something from nature. Be careful not to lose it!

Just some ideas. I hope you liked this post, and that it made sense to you. I’m about to announce my third giveaway, and my personal deadline for doing so is tomorrow night, but hopefully I’ll have it up tonight!

I thought you could only astral project when you are awake and conscious?

Actually, that isn’t true! At first I thought that “astral projection” literally meant consciously travelling through dimensions, but you can astral project and forget that you’ve done it once you wake up. Or you can astral project without knowing what astral projection even is, thus being unaware of it. But you’ve probably visited several dimensions before and done so many things and then forgot about it when you woke up. You may even have glimpsed into your future while astral projecting, and then when those future moments finally happen, you feel an awareness that you’ve seen them before (deja vu).

Every Wednesday I reblog a new character for the Marvel Characters Day ! :)

2 - Doctor Strange (Dr Stephen Strange)

Doctor Strange, sorcere supreme is one of the most powerful sorcerers in the world. Like most, he draws his power from three sources. First, the invocation of powerful mystic entities or objects, the manipulation of the universe’s ambient magical energy, and also his own psychic resources. Strange’s magical capacity includes energy projection and manipulation, matter transformation, animation of inanimate objects, teleportation, illusion-casting, mesmerism, thought projection, astral projection, dimensional travel, time travel and mental possession. The full range of his abilities is unknown.

Doctor Strange is a skilled athlete and martial artist with substantial medical and magical knowledge. Though an expert surgeon, Strange’s nerve-damaged hands prevent him from performing surgery except when supplemented by magic.

Does the concept of multiple realities speaks to you ?

Do you think that science and human reasoning can explain everything ?

Could reality as we know be an illusion? And finally, is there a single answer ? Would not there be an infinite number of answers ?

Whatever these answers, thinking about nature of everything around us and about our reality is a complex and colorful journey. :)

And it is clear that Dr. Strange embodies this perfectly ! :D

Nexte week : Brunhilde is coming ! But who is that ??? ;)

Is Marijuana OK From A Spiritual Point Of View?

No, it’s not the magical doorway to cosmic consciousness that many hope for.

Now it’s possible that you didn’t want to hear that brief and definite answer. However, this negative response is not a vague bias. There are specific adverse effects that marijuana has on your aura and on your soul, and this affects your spiritual development. You won’t generally hear about these insights, because the people speaking about this topic, whether in favor or against, generally lack the subtle energy sensitivity to describe what happens to your energy field when you put marijuana in your body.

Is Astral even technically, male?

I mean, if you go on physical appearance alone Astral is neither male nor female. And considering how clearly different humans are from, whatever Astral is, does Astral’s race even HAVE genders?

Not to mention I can’t speak japanese so I can’t tell what pronouns the characters/Astral use in reference to Astral. (Like how Yubel actually uses the equivalent of he/it pronouns to refer to themselves, as opposed to female like in the dub).
