as the drawing platform

Welcome to the Otayuri Reverse Bang 2017 Event!

What is a Reverse Bang?

A reverse is a lot like a Big Bang, if you’re familiar with that. In a Big Bang both authors and artists sign up. Authors are given a minimum of words for their stories and have an aloted time to write them.

When they’re done, their stories are up for claims! Which means authors can go over the summaries and pick the one they’d like to create artwork for. The artists and authors are then paired up and work together to deliver a story + artwork that will be posted on a certain date!

A Reverse Bang is exactly like that, except artists go first, and then authors are the ones who decide what kind of artwork they want to write for.

What is required of artists?

Create a brand new piece of artwork, picking your medium of choice. It has to be new and unposted in any kind of internet platform. You may draw about anything as long as it’s otayuri centric.

With your art, you will also submit a little prompt, or a short description of what inspired your work, so writers can better choose what they’d be interested in during claims.

You have until March 4th to sign up, and until March 24th to submit your entry.

What is required of writers?

Pick a piece of artwork during claims time, something that inspires you, and write a story for it with a minimum of 4,000 words.

Coordinate with your artist, to get a good idea of what they had in mind. Communication is important!

You have until March 30th to sign up, and until May 19th to submit the completed work along with the art.

Are you only accepting artists and writers?

Short answer: yes! But we are also considering photosets and gifs as art, so if you want to participate by doing that you can.

You can also sign up as a beta reader or a pinch-hitter! A beta reader is the person who reads over an author’s story and helps with spelling errors, grammar, sentence structure, plot, etc, and a pinch-hitter is a person who, if someone drops out after having been paired up, swoops in and fills in the free space the drop out left!

Happy creating!

I’ve wanted to draw @knittinggiantbeanies for a while, especially for cutiesaturday. She’s super sweet and kind to her fans, she’s hella cute, and she’s really goofy and funny. She has a couple YouTube channels, JudyCube and KnittingGiantBeanies, which you should go check out if you haven’t already. 💖💖

  • James: Is that your mother?
  • Sirius: Where?
  • James: The other end of the platform.
  • Sirius: Does her gaze draw the last vestiges of happiness from your soul like a dementor?
  • Sirius: Does her mouth pull ever so slightly into a grimace, as though she has smelled the foulest stench to plague mankind but will not dare to admit defeat?
  • Sirius: Does her claw-like hands look as though they're ready to rip the beating heart out of a young child in order to continue her putrid existence?
  • James:
  • James: Er - she looks like she's glaring at you.
  • Sirius: Yeah, that's probably her.

anonymous asked:

What would you suggest for someone just starting out in art? I'm 18 now, and I know getting better can take a lot of practice, but every time I try I end up embarrassed or frustrated because what comes out is so low quality Any advice on how to see results/get better faster?

the first thing that came to mind was:

  • do not set insane expectations for yourself
  • do not set an ability cap on yourself

you’re going to grow, but it’s just like actual growing. sometimes you’ll notice that something doesn’t fit the same way it used to, but other than that, you don’t actually notice it happening in real time.

start out simple. i always hear “i can hardly draw a stick person!” like…great, alright, that’s a perfect platform. you can progress with that:

build up to things–i’ve found that starting from a foundation and working up from there produces fastest results. draw what you know, and then start to actually observe something to see what you aren’t understanding.

problem is, you really have to commit to it! if working on this skill becomes even just a free-time hobby, you’ll start to see progress.

stream dump! from the 90s themed stream we had recently -lies on my side-

it was chill and i enjoyed it. sorry if you came to the stream and we didn’t interact much. when you skype with 3 people and draw good stuff, that’s.. a lot of fun haha -sweats-

There’ll be more 90s themed streams coming your way! i should actually announce them here. >_>;; i’m always on twitter -sweats a lot-

🌈 Hey Lesbian Lovelies! 🌈

Are you an artist, a writer, or a political activist?  Do you feel as though lesbian voices are being drowned out or silenced in the media?  Are you looking for a pro-lesbian feminist platform to publish your essays, poetry, stories, photography, music, drawings, collages, playlists, recipies, or comics?

Then you’re in luck!  Tumblr user @braticalfeminist has created a feminist e-zine which could definitely use some lesbian contributors!  This week’s theme for the magazine is “Origin Stories”, which is open to interpretation.  Submissions do not have to relate to the theme.  If you’re looking for a space to express your thoughts and feelings on lesbian and woman culture, here’s your outlet!

Lesbian voices need to be heard, and here’s our chance!  Please help her keep this magazine active with writings and beautiful with art pieces!

Flight Rising OCT

You wake up and something feels off. What was most precious to you is now missing. The shadows tell you there’s only one way to get it back.

You must fight.

Welcome to the 1st (I think?) Flight Rising themed OCT!

What is an OCT?

An OCT is an Original Character Tournament. Basically you chose a character you’d like to compete and your character fights someone else’s character. You have to somehow beat your opponent. Your opponent will also write/draw their own version of the battle that ends with their character winning. The judges then decide which version of the battle they like best and the winner get to move to the next round. At the end there is one winner.

Every OCT is different, and this one takes place in the world of Flight Rising, Sornieth. My Shadling Manus, has taken what is most precious of your character and the only way for them to get it back is to fight for it. Manus finds chaos and violence delightful, he will enjoy watching his contestants fight each other in order to get what he stole back.

However, this OCT cannot exist unless I find at least 16 competitors to participate.

Prizes are TBA

Deadline for auditions is March 8th but I may allow extensions if needed

Currently @clan-stjerneklart @toonetta and myself will be judges (sorry for the tags guys. I’m reposting this yet again)

Please read below for rules and more info!
