You: “Arthur, have you thought about it. Can I join you?”
Arthur: “Listen to me, (Y/N). I know you can do this. You’re a great warrior and I’m sure you’ll be amazing. But I don’t want you to get hurt. And that’s why you can’t join us. I’m sorry.”

While I sort of agree with the Kilgharrah being a troll theory floating out there, I also feel like that's giving him too much credit. Yes, he manipulated Merlin into doing a lot of things. But to say that the prophecy was a trick, and that Arthur wasn't supposed to be the Once and Future King? I don't know. That prophecy had existed for far longer than the time of the Great Purge and Kilgharrah's imprisonment under Camelot. Perhaps he just sought to break their destiny and seal Camelot's fate.

I see your point. At the same time, I’m wondering whether or not breaking their destiny and sealing Camelot’s fate actually dismantled the prophecy in some manner. We never got to see Arthur become the Once and Future King. We were just told he was at the very end. It was strange because the way things were set up, it seemed as though Arthur died before he could fill out his prophecy. That’s why I am questioning it as a whole.
