The Piano * - Peter Ilsted 1911
* W.A. Mozart’s touring piano depicted by Peter Ilsted,
When Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791) died prematurely at the age of 35, he left his young wife Constanze (1762–1842) all his musical instruments. It seems obvious that among these was the touring piano that Constanze had in her possession when her adventurous life led her to Copenhagen in 1810.
Contanze’s new husband, Councillor of State G. N. Nissen (1761–1826), was Danish and a great lover of music.
