I saw Seussical the Musical with @miaoumint last month and so many things about the Cat in the Hat character reminded me of the Once-ler, from the coattails to the body language. Soooo naturally I felt inspired to draw him in the Cat’s outfit. :P

I keep a handful of inspiring quotes above my desk to keep me writing, to encourage me to do everything I can every day to reach my dreams. Adding this advice from SJM to the wall. There will be hard days. There will be days when it feels like my dream is impossible to reach. But I won’t stop writing. I won’t let the dark thoughts drag me down. I will not stop dreaming.

Don’t let the hard days win.

I have recently become utterly smitten with the Society of Gentlemen book series by KJ Charles. The book covers are so disappointing and bland and do not do these characters justice AT ALL so I needed to draw the boys myself.

If you like Regency-era stories about gentlemen who like other gentlemen then you should check this series out; it’s got some lovely romance and friendships and supporting-each-other-through-hardship and era politics and scandal and drama and pining.  Not to mention bi and demi and trans characters, and none of the conflicts revolve around anyone being ashamed of their sexuality. Oh, and they all have HAPPY ENDINGS! Also people actually communicate and it avoids so many stupid misunderstandings that are so common in love stories.

(Basically everything I’ve ever wanted in historical romance and more)

Excited to share my recent project with Random house books illustrating the cover for their Puffin Books Series, The Wolves of Willoughby Chase. It was a great experience to work on this cover, being able to illustrate the text as well as the image. This is a draft version of the final cover, which will be in UK book stores this summer. Thanks very much AD Matt Jones for the opportunity and wonderful art direction.

AfterLife AfterDeath: Stories for the Dark

It's getting real...

… since I’m graduating next week, I will finally have the time and energy to care about my writing on a whole new level.
At the moment, I am planning to publish my first poetry book on Amazon in about 2 months.
I hope it will be possible for me to include some poems which I have already posted on this blog because I poured my heart into each and every of it and I definitely want them in my book (does anyone of you know if that would work with the copy right?).
Moreover, it will include many new poems which I wrote during the last months and years, so that you will also discover new pieces of my art.
You will be able to buy my book as an ebook but also as a paperback on demand which is amazing!
Thanks to all the people telling me that they’d buy one of my books since that could actually be a huge fucking step for me and I believe I’ll be able to count on your support because you are fucking awesome!
Tell me what you think about it,
All the love,
Johanna
