art and hair

I was trying to answer an anon about my process for drawing hair and I realized I don’t have much of one.  What I do try to do, though, is create movement and an interesting shape.

Planes: Sections of hair that I draw like a wide noodle with a defined top and underside.  I use it to frame the face and create movement.

Volumes: Sections of hair that look kind of lumpy and 3D as opposed to the plane.  I use it on the sides and back of the head to give the illusion of weight.

I’m not quite happy with the way I color hair yet and a lot of my drawings are experimentation, so I’ll leave that for another time.  I hope this helped a little :)

Scorpio ♏️
“The Scorpions are strong, commanding, intense, passionate and zealous. Driven, dedicated and loyal, they also are ambitious and security-loving.
Scorpio is a Water sign and lives to experience and express emotions.”
I made her fierce to represent Scorpions as strong and passionate. I used the birthstone Opal on the headpiece and used color red for the Ruby birthstone. I made the hairpin look like a scorpion 🦂
Scorpio is a water sign so I made her eyes blue. Her hair is a bit similar to Cancer but with a “tail” on the side like a scorpion.

I’ve been randomly getting a lot of messages about Gio– So here’s actually an old drawing of him I drew back in the summer. I just decided to color it today haha. Before you say that Gio looks like Kii, Kii’s design is actually heavily based off of Gio, but they’re complete opposites.
