I guess I needed a break. It was time for a break. I guess I found myself so unhappy, that I was projecting it. I decided to make use of my time off, and do what makes me happy, travel. I bought a ticket yesterday morning. I am flying to Las Vegas. I have no desire to stay there, I am continuing my journey alone to Arizona. I will make my way to the Grand Canyon, on to a few other parks, then Utah, to visit Zion and a few others. I really needed this trip. I had hopes to share it with someone, but I think I’m better off alone for this journey. I’ll keep you all updated via social media.
Sometimes a nice trip alone is good for the soul.
Can you give any advice on location hunting for landscape photography?
I typically start out by browsing through my Instagram and Tumblr feeds. Once I find a place that looks interesting I’ll start to dig a little deeper by searching through images based on that location. If it looks like a place that I think is worth checking out I’ll start planning how to get there.
if youre looking for A Feeling may i recommend wandering the arizona desert with a blacklight flashlight looking for scorpions (which fluoresce under UV) while the pecan tree by deafheaven plays from your phone at full volume from your pocket
Alien implants is a term used in Ufology to describe a physical object placed in someone’s body after they have been abducted by aliens. Claimed abilities of the implants range from mind control to biotelemetry (the latter akin to humans tagging wild animals for study).
Hello! My name is Lucas Zhao and I am leaving humble Troy, Michigan (pallet town) and starting my pilgrimage//adventure//journey//excursion offering myself to the universe heading towards the Cascades driving by myself on the 23rd of this month (so soon (12 days wow). Every moment feels as onefully rapturous as the last and next. I can only imagine what’s to come.
Wish me luck :)
If you stay in Colorado, Utah, Arizona, California, Oregon, Montana, Washington, New Mexico, British Columbia or anywhere else in the world for that matter please let me know of things to check out and if you know of anywhere a spirit in the wind could stay a night or two! I offer photos of your lovely energy, art to hang on your walls, and the merging of our vibrational paths on our journey to oneness.
What can you tell us about how you express your inner self through your work?
Photographs, no matter if intentional or not, have been and will always be an expression, a fraction if you will, of the person hitting the shutter. This is something that is inherently present in my work. Whether a documentation of the rich landscapes my path has led me to, the beautiful souls that have crossed said path, or a moody impromptu self-portrait at home brought on simply by the way the light has crept in the window, it is all directly a part of me. The key that ties all of this together is perspective.
Every frame that I see through the lens, even though it is principally external, is subject to my perspective. And not just visually, but very much so internally. All of my experiences, thoughts, emotions, ideas, conversations I’ve had, all the music I’ve ever listened to—everything that makes me who I am—goes into that image upon releasing the shutter. Obviously once intention is aligned with perspective, that’s when I feel some real creative magic happens. But honestly, it’s all essentially self-expression, regardless if I meant it to be.
