I actually had to ask what “slice of life” reffers to. Also, lol, 3013 post?! WHEN DID THE 3Kth HAPPENED
I haven’t seen many slice of life animes because I tend to find them boring. If I want to see something “realistic”, I’ll go watch a movie or a TV series with real people. I don’t see the need to make it a cartoon and try really hard to convince people that the situation can happen in the real world IF you can afford to tell it with real people and save some energy. I prefer anime that can show me stuff real people can’t do, like fantasy lololol.
I’d watch the crap out of Ano Hana if a live-action was made, srsly. And I think it would get to me a lot more. BUT I DIGREES.
My choice is KareKano (Kareshi Kanojo no Jijō; His and Her circumstances).
The characters are quite unique, or, at least, uniquely honest.
I actually relate a lot to Yukino (meh, I think a lot of us do) because she’s the perfect girl at school, which is what I used to do, and when she was home with her family, she was her laid-back self. Of course, she studied a lot to be that perfect girl, which was more than what I used to do, so it wasn’t like OMG SHE’S ME. I did find her family and her relationship with them to be peculiarly sweet, considering that nowadays being a rebellious teenager and bitching at everything related to family is “what everyone feels” and “everyone should feel”. Nowadays, if you love your family, and you can just be yourself around your friends, there’s something wrong with you. Which, for me, is the total opposite (though “I can be myself” all the time because I’m done playing dress-up).
And Souichirou is so fucked up that, what Yukino meant to be as a choice, was to him an obligation. Poor kid.
I love their relationship.
Although the last chapter of the anime was INCREDIBLY RUSHED. I WAS LAUGHING MY ASS OFF THE ENTIRE TIME. EVEN THE DIALOGUE WAS 3X FAST, GOD XDDDD
