Oh my fucking god if you had bothered to read the books you would have known that Shae had been playing Tyrion like a lute the entire time.
lol okay, you know that the book and the show version’s Shae are very different, correct? Alright, let’s talk about book-Shae for a minute.
Shae was a teenage camp-follower, only interested in the money and security that Tyrion could provide. He really made up a romance in his head, falling in love with her. Tyrion then brought Shae into the Red Keep and made her act as Lollys’s maid despite her not wanting to, despite Tywin threatening something bad would happen if he brought a whore into the Keep. But she did the job anyway, for a while. When Tyrion’s star fell and he was accused of murder, Shae did what she had to do. It was either go down with Tyrion (and they sure as hell wouldn’t treat a lowborn sex worker pretending to be a maid with the same care that they treat a nobleman) or stay alive.
This does not mean that she deserved to die.
Book-Shae does not deserve to die for not being in love with Tyrion Lannister and for valuing her life more than she valued his. She did not seek him out in the first place, and he is the one who inflated it into a true romance rather than a business arrangement or sexual companionship. She actually appeared to have some affection for him but she never failed to be realistic. Shae was the sexual equivalent of Bronn in many ways.
Get it through your head. Tyrion Lannister is not the center of everyone’s world. Tyrion knows that; god knows why so many fans can’t get it through their head.
I have no interest in debating this all day but I have several more messages from furious Tyrion fanboys in my inbox just like this one, so I’m going to go ahead and answer only the one for time’s sake.
