arafah

Is there any greater day than yawm-ul-‘Arafat?

The Prophet (ﷺ) mentioned that this is the day wherein Allah frees the most amount of His slaves.

Know that tomorrow awaits you. No matter how many sins you’ve committed, Allah’s granted you the day of 'Arafah so that you can ask of Him and He may give you. So that you can seek His forgiveness so that He can forgive you too.

So turn back to Him and renew your promise with Him just like you had made a promise to Him before being sent to this world.

Allah had asked you, “Am I not your Lord?” And you had said, “Yes, I have testified.”

Never despair of the Mercy of Allah because #wallahi, you will find Him to be all-Forgiving, always.

May the tears that flow from your eyes on this day out of fear of Him be a means for you being granted shade under His 'Arsh. May your love and devotion on this blessed day bear its fruits on the day of judgement. Allahumma Ameen.

Dua for Arafah

Read this as much as possible on the day of Arafah:

Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk, Labbayk La Shareeka Laka Labbaik, Innal-Hamda Wanni'maata Laka Wal-Mulk, La Shareeka Lak.

Translation: Here I am (at your service) oh Allah here I am. Here I am, you have no patner, here I am. Verily all praise, bounty and sovereignty belong to you. You have no patner.

Remember that even if you can’t fast on the day of Arafat (aimed at the sisters), ensure you have the intention that you wanted to fast and you will be rewarded the same as the one who fasted.

And Allaah is most generous when it comes to rewarding his slaves.

-Shaykh Abu Abdillaah Yunus

Best dua on the day of Arafah...

Best Dua be said on Arafah…

The Messenger of Allaah (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said:

“The best du’aa is the du’aa on the Day of ‘Arafah, and the best thing that I and the Prophets before me said is:

‘Laa ilaaha illallaah, wahdahu laa shareeka lah, lahul-Mulku
wa lahul-hamd, wa huwa ‘alaa kulli shayin qadeer’.”

(There is nothing that deserves to be worshipped in truth except Allaah, He is Alone and has no partner, to Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs all praise, and He is All-Powerful over all things).

(At tirmidhi, declared Hasan by Sh Albaani).

May the tears that flow from your eyes on this day out of fear of Him be a means for you being granted shade under His ‘Arsh. May your love and devotion on this blessed day bear its fruits on the day of judgement. Allahumma Ameen.

Virtues of the Day of ‘Arafah‎

  1. It is the day on which the religion was perfected and Allāh’s Favour was completed.
  2. It is a day of ʻĪd for the people who are in that place.
  3. It is a day by which Allāh swore an oath.
  4. Fasting on this day is an expiation for two years.
  5. It is the day on which Allāh took the covenant from the progeny of ʾĀdam‎.
  6. It is the day of forgiveness of sins, freedom from the Fire and pride in the people who are there.

— Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Munajjid, al-Islām Su'āl wa-Jawāb (7284)

You’ve sinned, I get it. You’ve wronged your soul, I get it. And you loathe yourself for it, you think of yourself as someone so undeserving, of any good, I get that too.

But know, that In ShāʾAllāh, tomorrow- awaits you. The Day of ʿArafah- awaits you. A day to have your repentance accepted, your sins forgiven, and your duʿāʾ heard and answered.

And if Allāh allows you to meet this day, then that alone should be enough to prove to you how Merciful He ʿazza-wa-jal truly is. How Merciful He, ʿazza-wa-jal, has been to you. How Merciful He, ʿazza-wa-jal, will always be to you.

Flee to Allāh, the One Who on this day, perfected this religion for us. Flee to Allāh, the One Who rejoices more at His slave’s repentance, than one who loses his camel in the desert then finds it. Flee to Allāh, the One Who says that He forgives the one who seeks His Forgiveness.

Ikhwān wa Akhawāt, run to Allāh. Run to Allāh, so He ʿazza-wa-jal may be pleased with you. Let this day cleanse your soul, purify your heart and fill you with the love for obedience and submission to Him.

Stand before Him, let your tears flow, and let your heart speak, and in doing so, feel the sweetness of knowing, that while some worship nothing, others worship everything and anything they wish, you worship only One. You worship o
nly Allāh.

The world’s largest annual gathering with pilgrims from every nation, background, age and colour, all dressed in simple yet identical garments. United for one purpose, to worship Him & Him alone. As the pilgrims fulfil their duties of Hajj, may Allah Azza wa jal aid their journey & accept their du’as and ibaadah.

The sun does not rise on any day better than the day of Arafah, nor does it set on any night better than the night of Qadar. Duā’ in them is among the best of deeds and the most likely of them to be accepted and answered.

لا تشرق شمس على يوم أفضل من يوم عرفة، ولا تغرب لليلة أفضل من ليلة القدر، والدعاء فيهما من أفضل الأعمال، وأقربها قبولاً وإجابة

Sheikh Abdul Aziz al Turaifi channel

لا تشرق شمس على يوم أفضل من يوم العرفاة، و لا تغرب على ليلة أفضل من ليلة القدر. الدعاء فيهما من أفضل الأعمال و أقربها قبولا و إجابة

“The sun does not rise on any day better than the day of ‘Arafah, nor does it set on any night better than the night of Qadr. Du'a in them is among the best of deeds and the most likely of them to be accepted and answered.

Fasting the Day of Arafah is an Expiation for Two Years!

On the authority of Abū Qatādah al-Anṣārī: “The Messenger of Allāh was asked about fasting on The Day of ‘Arafah. [He replied]: ‘Fasting on the day of‘Arafah is an expiation of last year’s and next year’s sins.’ [Collected by Muslim, 1162].

It is the day on which the religion was perfected and Allaah’s Favor was completed:

In Al-Saheehayn, it was reported from ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (radiallaahu 'anhu) that a Jewish man said to him, "O Ameer al-Mu`mineen, there is an aayah in your Book which you recite; if it had come to us Jews, we would have taken that day as an 'Eid (festival).” 'Umar said, “Which aayah?” He said (what means): This day I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. [al-Maa`idah, ayah 3]. 'Umar said, “We know on which day and in which place that was revealed to the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam). It was when he was standing in 'Arafaah on a Friday."

Allaah Swears by these 10 Days, odd and even:

Allaah swears by these days.
1. By the dawn;
2. By the ten nights (i.e. the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah),
3. And by the even and the odd . [al-Fajr, ayat 1-3]

The Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, The ten are the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah and the odd is the Day of Arafah and the even is the Eid.[Ahmad 3/327, and Bazzar 2286] Ibn Rajab graded the isnad of this hadeeth as being Hasan.

Teaching This to Others:

“I found in the book of the Shaikh, the Imaam, my grandfather, aboo ‘Abdullaah Muhammad ibn ‘Adee Hamdawaih as-Saaboonee (rahimahullaah ta’aala), Abul-’Abbaas, al-Hasan ibn Sufyaan an-Nasawee informed us that al-’Abbaas ibn Sabeeh narrated to them (saying): ‘Abdul-Jabbaar ibn Taahir narrated to us (saying): Ma’mar ibn Raashid narrated to me (saying): I heard Ibn Shihaab az-Zuhree saying,

“Teaching a sunnah is more superior than two hundred years of worship.”

(Usool-u-Sunnah by Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal (rahimahullaah), Chapter Six: The Distinguishing Signs of Ahlus-Sunnah).

On the authority of Abi Mas’ood ‘Uqbah bin ‘Amr al-Ansaaree al-Badaree -may Allah be pleased with him- he said: The Messenger of Allah -sallahu ‘alayhi wasallam- said: Whoever directs someone to good, then he will have the reward equal to the doer of the action.[Muslim (1893)].

Let not, the Day of ʿArafah leave you, except that you lower your head in shame and repent, so He may accept it from you.

Let not, the Day of ʿArafah leave you, except that you lower your head in shame and seek His Forgiveness, so He may forgive you.

Let not, the Day of ʿArafah leave you, except that you lower your head in shame and beg Him to make you from among those, whose necks are freed from the Hellfire, so He may f
ree you.

Let not, the Day of ʿArafah leave you, except that you leave it, taking with you, every bit of goodness it carries.

The day of ‘Arafah.

Shaykh Uthaymeen said in his Majmoo’  Fataawa (part 20, question no. 404):

“As for the pilgrim, it is not Sunnah for him to fast on the day of ‘Arafah, because the Prophetﷺ did not fast on the day of ‘Arafah during the Farewell Pilgrimage.”

Remember to fast!

-Ibn Qudaamah said in al-Mughni V. 4 Pg. 443:

It is a great and noble day, and a blessed festival which is of great virtue. It is narrated in Sahih reports from the Prophetﷺ that fasting it is expiation for two years.”

Abu Qatadah reported:

The Messenger of Allaahﷺ was asked about the observance of Saum (fasting) on the day of ‘Arafah. He said, “It is an expiation for the sins of the preceding year and the current year.
- Sahih Muslim (1162)

A few things to remember on this blessed Day.

It was narrated that Aisha said: The Messenger of Allaahﷺ said:

There is no day on which Allaah ransoms more of His slaves from the Fire than the day of ‘Arafah. He draws close then He boasts about them before the angels and says: “What do these people want?”
- Sahih Muslim (1348)

The Messenger of Allaahﷺ said:

The best supplication is the one made on the Day of ‘Arafah. The best thing ever said by me and the previous prophets is:

‘There is no deity worthy of worship other than Allaah, who is alone, having no partner. His is the dominion, and to Him belongs all praise. He is, of everything, All-Capable.’

-Classed as Sahih by al Albani in as-Sahihah (1503).
