arafah

“Labbaik! Allahumma labbaik! Labbaika la sharika laka labbaik! Innal-Hamda wan-ne’mata laka wal-mulk la sharika lak.”

“Here I am at Your service, O Allah, here I am. Here I am at Your service, You have no partner, here I am at Your service. For You alone is All Praise and All Grace, and for You alone is The Sovereignty. You have no partner.”

The world’s largest annual gathering with pilgrims from every nation, background, age and colour, all dressed in simple yet identical garments. United for one purpose, to worship Him & Him alone. As the pilgrims fulfil their duties of Hajj, may Allah Azza wa jal aid their journey & accept their du’as and ibaadah.

Day of 'Arafah Duaa

Laa ‘ilaaha 'illallaahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa Huwa 'alaa kulli shay'in Qadeer.

None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, Who has no partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is Able to do all things

O God, as for what I fear,
spare me from it

And as for what I seek to avoid,
guard me against it

In my soul and my religion
watch over me,

In my traveling
protect me,

In my family and my property
appoint for me a successor,

In what Thou hast provided for me
bless me,

In my soul
humble me,

In the eyes of men
magnify me,

From the evil of jinn and men
preserve me,

For my sins
disgrace me not,

For my inward secrets
shame me not,

For my actions
try me not,

Of Thy blessings
deprive me not

And to other than Thee,
entrust me not.

Last year, I wrote an article about my personal connection to the day of Arafah, which is today this year (Monday, October 14th, 2013), so I thought I’d share the article again

This day made me who I am, because before it, my parents were convinced they would never be able to have children. Alhamdulillah, Allah proved the doctors wrong. Ah, the power of dua.

Du’a on the day of ‘Arafat

The Prophet (SAW) said: The best invocation is that of the Day of Arafat, and the best that anyone can say is what I and the Prophets before me have said:

None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, Who has no partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is Able to do all things.

Fasting the Day of ‘Arafah

The ninth day of Dhul-Hijjah is the day of ’Arafah, since it is on this day that the pilgrims gather at the mountain plain of ’Arafah, praying and supplicating to their Lord.

It is mustahabb (highly recommended) for those who are not pilgrims to fast on this day, since the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) was asked about fasting on the day of ’Arafah, so he said, “It expiates the sins of the past year and the coming year.” [1]

Likewise, the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, ‘There is no day on which Allaah frees people from the Fire more so than on the day of ’Arafah. He comes close to those (people standing on ’Arafah), and then He reveals before His Angels saying, ‘What are these people seeking.” [2]

Imaam at-Tirmidhee (d.275H) – rahimahullaah – said, “The People of Knowledge consider it recommended to fast on the day of ’Arafah, except for those at ’Arafah.” [3]
