arabic-boy

one of the beautiful things about this clip was the amount of respect these boys have toward sana, it’s something that you could just feel. it’s such a popular misconception people have, muslim and/or arab boys who completely disrespect girls, who think girls are inferior, not as worthy as them. people associate islam with sexism. but when sana’s brother at the end of the clip made a really clumsy and unintentionally offensive comment to his little sister, these boys were not having it, they immediately let their friend know that it was 100% wrong for him to say that, even as a joke, you don’t make that type of comment, these boys felt that it was wrong, they felt offended by elias’ comment

these boys are the complete opposite of sexists. these boys are actually feminists. don’t you dare make a sexist comment in front of them, they’re not gonna let it slide

@ any arab boys that aren’t doing so great rn: i see you and your struggle is valid and i love you even though our society wants you to be tough all the time. it’s okay for you to be sad or unhappy. its okay for you to cry. it’s okay for you to show your excitement and happiness. its okay for you to be soft and kind. and if anyone tells you otherwise call me at 1-800-slapping-punk-ass-bitches so i can fight them for u

Appreciate Elias Bakkoush

i wanted to make this post because with all the drama i think we are ignoring the principal reason behind the Elias character, he is breaking the cliche/prejudice about muslim, north african/arab boys being rude, evil and authoritarian towards the women in their lifes.

Elias trust in Sana, we can see it when he defends her in front of their mom.

.

He knows apologize to Sana when he does something wrong or that hurt her.

Elias wants Sana to be happy no matter what.

He show support to her even when it´s about a love interest, this kind of topics are always represented as a taboo between muslim families, and i´m glad they show it like a normal conversation between siblings.

Elias Supports, cares, encourages and gives advice to Sana because he wants her to be happy.

He show respect for his mom and he tries to understand her point of view even if he doesn’t agree.

Elias is a good brother and an amazing representation of an human and not demonized relationship between a muslim boy and the women in his life, this kind of representation is so unique and we should apreciate it.

i’m upset at the fact that all of this is being ignored because of all the drama around the fight.

We don´t know what happened in the fight, but it remainds me when in the last season Isak started a fight with Mehdi because he was upset, and the rumor was that Mehdi started the fight because he is muslim and Isak gay, now is happening the same, the only difference is that the rumors and assumptioms are being made by the fandom.

Half of the skam fandom is criminalizing a character who is made for decriminalize muslim boys.

So I have been checking up discussions from last year about Santa Claus being Black and how much of an unnecessary controversy it caused and it got me thinking, does the public even know if Batman was white or do people just assume he is? cuz lets be real, the man is covered from head to toe and only appear at nights, that’s not enough to know someone ethnicity so what if every kid in Gotham believe that Batman is the same race as them and will not allow someone to tell them otherwise?

.

White kid: But why do you think Batman is black?!

Black kid: Why do you think he isn’t?

White kid: Why? have you see his chin skin? its white so how can he be black?

Black kid: Heelloo, black people with vitiligo exist so….

White kid: Bu- thats-….that’s just an unlikely to thing to be. Thats all.

Korean kid: Well if you’re so hang up on skin color then Batman might be Korean? we have fair skin too.

White kid: What?? how can he be Korean if he doesn’t have Asian eyes??

Korean kid: Ah, well not all of us have “Asian Eyes” and even if we do, Batman has his mask on him at all time, so how do you know he doesn’t have “asian eyes” under there?

White kid: Because I’m being logical and going by facts unlike you.

Arab kid: Well if you really wanna be “logical” wouldn’t it make the most sense if Batman was middle-eastern?

White kid: And how does THAT make any sense?!?

Arab kid: Well I mean the current Robin is obviously Arab and unlike all the other Robins he refer to Batman as “father” which would mean Batman is his father so it would make sense if Batman too was the same ethnicity as his son.

White kid: Okay all of you really need to stop attacking me right now because Batman is white just like Jesus is >:(

Arab kid: Oh boy if you think Jesus was white then I got some news for you…

SKAM “SLAVE” TRANSLATION

Sana: Hello?

The ballonsquad guys: Discussing how Yousef has tried 10 times and failied and how he’ll fail again

Yousef: Sch.. Calm down boys

The guys: Come on then!

The ballonsquad guys: That was bad!

Sana: Whats going on in here?

One of the guys: Lets make Sana try it!

The other guys: She’s totally gonna make it!

One of the guys: Yeah because she is actually good at basketball unlike some people!

Simo: Yeah, because she learnt it from me!

Sana: What you talking about learnt it from you? Even mom is better at basketball than you!

The ballonsquad guys: Ohhh!!! That hurt!

Simo: If you can make it, then I’ll be your slave for a week!

The ballonsquad guys: Dont do it man!

Simo: I’m sure about this

Sana: Drive me everywhere, clean my room?

Simo: Whatever you want! The whole package!

Sana: Swear!

Simo: Wallah! (I swear to God in arabic) And all the boys are my witnesses!

The ballonsquad guys:

Dont do it!

Simo: Its okay guys! I got it!

Sana: What should I do?

Simo: You gonna throw this in the lamp, exactly at the time Snoop Dogg sings “Smoke weed everyday”

Sana: Just that?

Simo: Just that?? But if you fail, you have to be MY slave for a whole week!

Sana: That was not a part of the deal!

Simo: But you said “its just that?” What is it, are you scared of failing? If you’re so confident come on then!

Sana: Give me the ball?

The ballonsquad guys: You’ll regret this!

They are just cheering, and then Sana fails.

Simo: So.. now can you go make us some tea?

Sana: I’m not a slave to all your friends!

Simo: But they are my guests!

Simo: Thank you, slavewoman!

Simo: It came out wrong, sorry. Chill. That was not nice of me to say.

The ballonsquad guys: Watch how you talk to your sister! Thats your sister!

Simo: Don’t get involved! Calm down.

END SCENE

I don’t want to start anything but I find it so interesting that the fandom is so determined to portraying Damian being BFF with Jon kent who he only met recently and have been fighting with for half the short amount of time that they have know each other (or with Colin who haven’t been seen since 1964) over lets say Maya (a Black/Latino girl) or Duke (a Black boy) or Suren (an Arab boy just like Damian) or Maps (a Japanese girl) even though he has better relationship with them than he do with Jon and actually showed interests in being their friend (Damian literally calls Maya his sister, like what else do you want?)
