applications of logic

mercury is the trickster and virgo can be his biggest victim. virgo must impress applicable truth and logic to information, but the virgo can become so confused and self deceptive, often negatively, fooled into harsh perceptions on the self and their place in the world, their talents, and intelligence, perfection is a big ideal hologram, an abstract of illusion. virgo has more trouble accessing childish mercury, virgo is on logical, quality, and precise mercury, trembling between the variables in every situation. it could be quite tormenting

You know what makes me wonder, is that Boris at the end of chapter 2 seems to be perfectly fine and all friendly and chipper. Not evil at all. I wonder if Bendy used to be like that, but is possessed or something. Doesn't make sense that boris is all cool but Bendy is all crazy you know? I don't know. So hyped for chapter 3!

I’ve got a theory, and it’s a theory that’s actually existed since Chapter 1 was first released.  It’s also, ironically, a theory that I never really cared for… but Chapter 2 has added a significant helping of support for it.

More and more, I’m viewing activism as…not necessarily a “requirement” of my faith, but a logical application of that faith.

If it is true that the land is sacred, it is my duty to cast down systems of oppression that ravage it.

If it is true that cultural ancestors are sacred, then as a queer disabled person I must continue the fights that previous social justice movements started.

If it is true that hospitality and guest right are sacred, then I must fight to create and maintain safe spaces for those who need them.

If it is true that even the gods need each other in order to survive, then I must be mindful of intersectionality and use my privilege to amplify other voices.

ksycolor  asked:

What do you think the best arc in Fairy Tail is? Like, the most decent one Mashima ever did.

The best arc is easily the Fantasia arc.

Yes, it does have some of the problems other arcs will present–Erza’s fight with Evergreen is bullshit in the extreme, and Freed’s brutal torture of and attempt to kill Elfman warrant rather more than the slap on the wrist he received.

But those aside, this arc has a lot to give and keeps on giving.

The situation starts off disastrously in the very beginning, with all of the ladies turned to stone, and half of the powerful players lost as a result. What’s more, Natsu and Gajeel are prevented from leaving by the same barrier holding Makarov in, so they’re out of the fight too.

We get a good focus on Elfman as he tries to save his sister, and Gray’s loss to Bickslow doesn’t feel too cheap nor forced. This is also where the AlBis action takes off, with us getting to see that, when you remove the star players, not only does Fairy Tail still have some formidable people in its ranks, but they can be pretty deep as well. Hurt my heart when Alzack berated Freed for making him go through his friends to save Bisca.

Not to mention the Thunder Legion are played as at their most powerful here. Every one of them feels like the dangerous foe we’ve come to expect from Fairy Tail, but in a much darker light. Freed’s powers in particular are just scary, and watching Mirajane come undone and break her two-year refrain from combat was amazing. Lucy and Leo defeating Bickslow was also pretty nice to watch.

Putting Evergreen to one side, Bickslow is taken out with an appropriate application of logic combined with well-timed force, despite presenting a seemingly unbeatable combo assault. Freed loses badly when he provokes Mirajane, and not for lack of trying when it comes to trying to take her out. We were hinted several times that Mirajane had that power within her, and it paid off.

Which just leaves Laxus.

You guys don’t understand how beautiful Laxus vs. Everyone Else is. In sharp contrast to the Jellal boss fight at the end of the previous arc (which was rather underwhelming on a rewatch), Laxus’ fight is incredible. Nobody, not even Makarov, had any idea of just how utterly, monstrously powerful Laxus really was–he has every right to be confident in his ability to take over the guild by force. And despite his obsession with power, there’s hints that he’s pretty damn smart, too. Aside from planning that hijack and hostage situation, he also rounds off perfect answers to Erza’s remarks on battle, and happens to have mastered fucking Fairy Law, which was later revealed takes ten years. Mystogan, his only rival, doesn’t even manage to hurt him.

And Fairy Law was an excellent way to yank Laxus’ collar and make sure he didn’t cross that final moral event horizon. It was very powerful, because even though he was borderline insane and volatile and trying to shitkick everyone, he still didn’t have it in his heart to really kill his guildmates and hometown.

I’ve also said that Natsu defeating him at the end of the arc is one of the only believable wins for Natsu, because Laxus pretty much defeated himself. He wasted massive reserves of energy casting Raging Bolt, Fairy Law, and Heavenward Halberd, and had nothing left while Natsu had just enough. Gajeel doesn’t let anyone think for a second that Natsu’s on par.

And yes, the scenes at the end made me cry actual tears. They still do.

I love the Fantasia arc.

i think mercury does a good job of fooling virgo, if we look beyond the journalist messaging system in gemini- the newspaper, we have virgo who must impress applicable truth and logic to information, but the virgo can become so confused and self deceptive, often negatively, fooled into harsh perceptions on the self and their place in the world, their talents, and intelligence, perfection is a big ideal hologram, an abstract of illusion, also that treacherous worry gemini can avoid by disengaging, virgo cannot so much access child mercury, virgo is on the harsh and cold critical mercury, trembling between the variables in every situation. It could be quite tormenting

Myers Briggs Test by Functions

Rank each of the following statements on a scale of 1 to 5 based on how well it describes you or your beliefs (1 being not at all and 5 being describes completely):

  1. It is unkind to unnecessarily offend others; people should filter what they say in order to avoid hurting those around them.
  2. I think most things have a deeper meaning than what is present on the surface. I spend a lot of time contemplating what individual events or statements mean or say about life as a whole.
  3. When working on a problem, I like working with my hands rather than theorizing, finding it helpful to be able to create and see the physical results of a project.
  4. I find it fun to intellectually reason through different theories or ideas, even if there is no logical application for this type of knowledge.
  5. Once I find something I like, I tend to stick with it loyally instead of trying out new options. I believe there’s no reason to change something that works well in the first place.
  6. When considering one topic or idea, my mind easily jumps to related stories and other connections. Often people find it difficult to follow my train of thought because my mind jumps from idea to idea.
  7. You should stay true to yourself and say what you believe without worrying about who will be upset by your words or actions.
  8. People should be able to back up their assertions with overt facts, data, and reasoning. These will reveal whether something is true and logical or false and illogical.
  9. Life is meant to be experienced first hand. I enjoy sensory experiences like sports/art/etc. and taking in the world as I experience it rather than living in my head.
  10. I prefer brainstorming various options and envisioning all the possible ways a project/event could go rather than committing to one idea and sticking with it.
  11. I feel like it is my responsibility to consider the moral and emotional wellbeing of those around me; I like to advise my friends on finding the right thing to do and I deeply care about their problems.
  12. I am often thinking about the future and events that are to come. I have a clear vision in my head of what I want things to be like, or what I think they will be like. This vision is clear and focused and I like to narrow down the ways the future could unfold to one.
  13. I almost always know how and why I am feeling a certain way in a situation. When presented with controversial topics, I can easily understand what my personal views are outside of the context of other people’s beliefs.
  14. I am energized by wit, word games, puzzles, riddles: anything that involves my inner sense of logic and reasoning. I like breaking concepts down in my head in order to understand them.
  15. I am skilled at taking charge of a group, impersonally organizing people and implementing a plan of action. I have assertive and organized qualities that make me a born leader.
  16. I often consider new situations in the light of my past experiences and memory. I think about what I learned from past situations and apply these to my current ones.
  17. I am very in tune with my environment: noticing any changes that occur, completing physical tasks easily, and having an eye for aesthetics.
  18. I am good at looking at a project or situation and recognizing the flaws or weaknesses and proposing a method that is more efficient.
  19. I don’t find it useful to share my emotions with others, and it doesn’t help me to understand my feelings to talk them over with a friend. I can best understand how I feel in a situation by spending time by myself processing my feelings.
  20. When I consider the future, I think about all the disparate ways a situation could unfold. I anticipate every different situation without worrying about which is the best or most accurate.
  21. I am good at noticing details: small visual cues or other characteristics of my environment, how I’m feeling internally, and particulars such as numbers or dates, and have a good memory where I store this information.
  22. I tend to think convergently. I will focus on one situation or project and analyze it, spending my time interpreting it from every possible angle in order to completely understand it.
  23. I like the idea of reaching harmony in a group, and tend to sense and consider what other people’s values and beliefs are before making a decision. I like those around me to be happy with the decisions that are made.
  24. I think external methods of organization (such as corporation hierarchies or governments) are a necessary way of maintaining efficiency and maximum productivity, and I like to see how I can fit my plans and logic into an overarching system such as these.
  25. I look at independent experiences or situations and try to condense them into greater, overarching truths.
  26. Once something has piqued my interest, I want to understand it completely: all the little details of its inner workings so I can fully decipher it.
  27. I have a good memory. I can easily remember and place faces, names, dates, etc. even from a long time ago.
  28. Even though I am a deeply emotional person, I recognize the fact that feelings and morals are generally illogical and created by the individual.
  29. I recognize that there are many “truths” in life, and none of them are absolute over the others. I appreciate each perspective for its own individual frame of mind and ideas.
  30. I find that talking over my feelings with a friend helps me to understand how I’m feeling, verbalizing my emotions and hearing feedback from someone I trust.
  31. I would consider myself a realistic person, good at recognizing what needs to be done in situations and actually implementing it.
  32. I understand new situations best by jumping into it myself. I learn by taking in the sights and sounds of a place and interacting with it in the moment.

Fluffmas Day 24-Wearing Stockings (Hamilsquad x Reader)

You grimaced as you looked at your reflection in the mirror. Normally, you would never be doing something so outrageous but the thought of turning your lovers on had been too great a temptation. Considering it was your best friend’s, Maria Reynolds, the idea had come from you should have dismissed it outright but the application of logic had left you thinking otherwise. Trust Maria to be totally persuasive when it came to bedroom tactics.

“I’m not sure, Maria. I don’t think wearing stockings is very sexy.”

“Trust me (Y/N) ! They are going to love this as their Pre-Christmas present. I mean think about it. They are always staring at your legs when your not looking!”

You had to concede that argument, some of the best sex you had with your boyfriends was when your legs were on display.

“I still don’t understand what any of these mean. What’s a ‘Cuban Heel’ and how is different from a regular heel and how will covering my legs make them more sexy?”

“Because if the thought of you and your gorgeous legs in lingerie is able turn me on then it’s sure as hell will work to turn on your boyfriends.” Maria winked suggestively as she pulled the you into another section of the shop.

“Hey, babe, can you get more stockings?” Hercules shouted from the living room.

John whistled cheerfully as he placed more presents under the tree. Alexander typed away at his laptop, working on New Years paperwork before it even started. Lafayette was watching Christmas movies. While Hercules straightened up and went over his Pre-Christmas morning checklist making sure everything was equal and in order.

All of your boyfriends froze when they saw you come down the stairs. You were wearing a red corset with white trimming, garters connecting to her stockings, and the tiniest red panties they’d ever seen. Topped with the Santa hat, you were sexier than anything they could imagine.

You gazed at them bashfully, waiting to hear what they thought about your outfit.

“Those aren’t the stockings he meant,” Alexander said, too stunned to really think of anything else.

“Do you care?” You smirked.

Your boyfriends shared looks before breaking out in grins.

“No. We definitely like your version better!” John cheered, scooping you up and heading towards the bedroom, followed by the rest of your boyfriends.

“It’s looking like a very merry Christmas already!”

“Oui, I can’t wait to see what gifts our petite père Noël has for us!”

“Hope you don’t mind sleeping in late tomorrow!”

((Disclaimer: I’m not trying to persuade anyone to believe in anything. After you’ve read this post, don’t waste your time if you don’t have anything intelligent to say, k?))

After a week that I’ve been bombarded with lots of new information regarding kaisoo from different sources (SK), I decided to share a bit of what I know with everyone. I’ve received a lot of asks regarding kfans pov about kaisoo. Just keep in mind to not treat these statements below as facts. Take it as it is or leave it as it is.

Firstly, kaisoo is indeed very famous in SK. Kaisoo is one of the ‘official pairing’ among k-exo-l along with chanxxbaek and sexxjun. However, SM doesn’t acknowledge kaisoo as a pairing, only kfans does. Kaisoo isn’t just famous among k-exo-l but among other kfans as well. Their popularity in SK is not a joke. It is true that kaisoo hardly has moments together sometimes but kfans doesn’t really care about the number of moments but the atmosphere of the moments itself. They’ve come to a conclusion that kaisoo is indeed a very different pairing.

Kfans do talk a lot about Kaisoo but not openly. They have this rule that they need to respect other people opinions as well. They only talk about kaisoo below the surface.

I told them about how ifans shippers are really open when they talked about their pairing. They told me that it is possibly because of the culture difference. SK really care about other people’s opinions and comments. They wish that they could be like ifans one day (they’re so cute >.<)

Recently, due to kaixxstal, kaisoo kfans even have to create a private chat so they could talk about kaisoo freely without receiving any hates. Everyone is so sensitive about this topic.

Back in 2012, there was a person who claimed he was a SM trainee said that it was a really well-known fact among trainers that kaisoo are in a relationship. They were always seen together. From that day onwards until now, there are continues rumors about them dating, even before debut.

Apparently, many kfans point out that kaisoo to be real if there is indeed a homosexual couple in idol society. From kfans perspectives, they’ve established that kaisoo has a totally different atmosphere when they are together that cannot be compared to other pairings. They even told me that they wish I could see it with my own eyes. Kaisoo is really beautiful. Their subtle moments are so valuable. They really fit each other so well (le died. I literally died).

Now, move on to the heavy part. (I’m begging you if you’re not a kaisoo shipper who shipped them more than just brotp, do not proceed to read this. I’m really not in the mood to entertain any baseless arguments right now. Just save yourself before it is too late.)

I repeat. Do not treat these statements as facts. Take it as it is and leave it as it is.

Next, I’ll talk about what kfans thought of the gay couple rumor.

There’s no doubt that the rumor is getting bigger now. Initially, there were no media that paid attention to the gay rumors. But recently, the media can’t stop talking about it (they quoted it this way). Many people, even non-kfans, started to look at it.

What they meant by media is, I believe you guys know about SK search engine on the internet? The articles about the gay couple keep on popping up on the search engine. They said that the media have never been so noisy about any rumors before. It feels like they are trying to say that there is a gay couple among the idols.

However, they said that SK has a lot of political issues these past few days. The media might want to use the gay rumor to cover up things. I believe SK is known for their tactic of using something to cover something? //shrug

About the a-list group, kfans only have 5 groups in mind. They didn’t think of other groups. It’s In_finite, Big_Bang, SN_SD, EXO_ & SHI_Nee. They are the 5 groups that are really famous and influential in SK. The others are not so much.

They didn’t think so long bcoz all kfans agree that the gay couple is someone from EXO_ and it is Kaisoo.

Reasons why the other groups are out of the list:
In_finite: small label company
SN_SD: a girl group. it has to be a boy group
SHI_Nee: only Jongxxkey pairing appear but SK stop talking about them when Key dated the model back in 2013.
Big_Bang: there are prevailing rumors about GD_ being bisexual but not with the same groups and most kfans don’t really mind they’re dating. ‘BB has grown up now. They can date whoever they want’, they quoted it that way.

They agreed that the description from the gay couple article indeed screamed kaisoo (they used the word scream. I’m not the one putting it there).

Even without being bias, most of them think that the description 5 years+a list idol+caught last year really do point to Kaisoo.

They said that Kaisoo looked like they had a fight last year around Sept-Oct. It fits the article release date which is Sept 2015.

(directly quoted from the original conversation. just ignore the grammar mistakes. Eng is not their first language. Do spare them.)

What kaisoo shippers here talking is that,

1. They were really good until June to the mid-July. (All those good moments!)
2. Suddenly there moments decreased a lot by late July, and they even looked like they had fight (ex. Jongin’s phone shattered)
3. Dozens of worries popped up in korea that kaisoo might had fight around late august to mid september
4. Then obviously, jongin started to avoid ks and ks started to be really active. he started many kaisoo moments and his skinship increased (around late october)
5. But then, when they were in japan (where is the place prohibited to take any photos) they looked good
6. They looked good after all since that, but on the interview ks said that he is now using the room alone, which seemed strange since kaisoo looked still good
7. Then the scandal released
8. Now kaisoo can’t even look into each other’s eyes…

Apparently, another pairing in EXO_ doesn’t even showed up in kfans pov. The part they concentrating on is which pairing SM is trying to separate the most? If kaixxstal rumors are all true, it will mean that SM is seriously trying to hide the gay couple in its company. They will try really hard to deny the pairing and make them to not have any moments. They said it can’t be Chan_baek. No one talked about them there.

Other pairings are not possible for now since a lot of gay rumors are linked to kaixxstal. A lof of kfans mentioned kaisoo.

And here’s another new info I heard from them. I’m surprised tbh.

SM has been trying to separate Kaisoo for so long even from their debut. Kaisoo only went to the same fanmeeting once in 4 years. They hardly had any official events together. Do you guys remember kaisoo 2nd box interview? It was rumored in SK that SM did that to make kaisoo shippers feel satisfied.

Before the 2nd Box, a lot of them were so tired of SM trying to separate kaisoo. The complained it on SNS.

(directly quoted from the original conversation)

“are there anything you wanna hide sm? Why are you separating these two for like whole 3 and a half year? They must be in a relationship. Fuck sm.”

And then kaisoo happened in the 2nd box. But then, nothing happened after that.

There was a theory that kaisoo kfans talked about among them regarding the gay rumor released in March 2016. Do you guys remember the photos of Kaisoo that was posted by different media outlets last December at MBC Gayo Daejun 152712? (Top Star News, SSTV, 시크뉴스, 스포즈투데이, OHNews & DongA).

They assume that it might not be just one media outlet that knew about Kaisoo. It could be more than just one that know about them. It might be the reason why SM release the scandal so fast. There was a rumor that kaixxstal was supposed to release on June but DP decided to release it on April.

They said the reason is to silence up all the other media outlets. Kaixxstal proved to be dating in 1st April, any other pieces of evidence pointed to Kaisoo before 1st April is not applicable anymore. The logic in this is, if the media outlets still release the evidence, which dated before 1st April, it can’t prove that Kaisoo is still together after 1st April. The public will think that kaisoo broke up and Kaixxstal happened. So, no one will believe it.

SM is trying so hard to make sure that kaisoo don’t have any moments together in public.

The possibility that the media outlet will release the gay couple is 50/50 because everyone opinions regarding this matter are different. They talked about wanting to know and not wanting to know about the gay couple. Just like kaisoo ifans ㅋㅋ ㅋㅋ

I’ll stop here for now. The kfans were really happy to know that kaisoo ifans really support kaisoo. They said it is a good idea for me share it with the other ifans and let them know how kfans really thought.

I repeat again, do not treat these statements as facts. I’m merely sharing what kfans thoughts about the kaisoo and gay couple rumor. Take it as it is and leave it as it is.

intjackass-deactivated20170622  asked:

In your words, could you explain the difference between Te and Ti? Most of the explanations I find talk about them being "outward" and "inward" which doesn't help me understand it any better

Sure!

*Keep in mind, the description below will mostly apply to T types (high Te or Ti users)

Extroverted Thinking (Te) vs. Introverted Thinking (Ti)

Te and Ti are both logical decision-making processes. The e and the i indicate where the user looks to determine what’s logical. Te looks to external criteria (what’s objectively logical, efficient, or true?), while Ti looks to internal criteria (what makes sense to me?).

Te is purely objective decision-making. Its objectivity is twofold: first it doesn’t consider human elements (emotions, values, feelings) like Fe and Fi, and second, unlike Ti, it references a universal code of logic that theoretically anyone could understand. What’s true or false, right or wrong, valid or invalid, useful or extraneous is seen as an objective certainty. This level of mental clarity allows the user to make logical judgments quickly and with confidence. This manifests as decisive, blunt, action-oriented behavior. The way they see it, Te users have access to the same “truth” as everyone else, so they are likely to get impatient when other people slow them down with reasoning based on subjective criteria, or with a general lack of application of shared logical principles. To Te users, the result of logical decision-making is more motivating than the process of figuring things out.

Ti users on the other hand add an element of subjectivity to their logical process. By subjectivity I don’t mean the consideration of human elements, but rather the need to personally determine what makes sense to them. Unlike the Te code of logic that anyone can access, Ti logic is personalized and therefore relatively inaccessible to others. Ti has opinions on most things, but is tough to argue with because other people don’t have direct access to the same logical rulebook. Instead of an emphasis on results and external order, Ti manifests as skepticism and a focus on analysis. When Ti is frustrated with others, it’s because it feels like it’s the only one who’s thinking about the issue in the right way, or that no one else can understand the issue with what it considers to be sufficient accuracy. To the Ti user, the process of figuring things out is more stimulating than the end result.

So how do you spot Te and Ti?

Common traits of high Te users:

Direct, action-oriented, and somewhat blunt. Seek efficiency and objectivity. Speak as if there’s a period at the end of each sentence. Usually organized. Results oriented and ambitious. May experience outbursts of negative emotion.

Application of single attraction logic to split attraction people will not make your argument correct.

Cishets are not LGBT = a true statement.

Asexuals, aromantics, intersex people, and others who use the split attraction model who happen to be “cishet” are not simply cishet.

E.g. a cishet ace isn’t a cishet, they’re a cishet ace. Erasing the “ace” to make them sound the same as actual cishets doesn’t change the fact that…you erased their asexuality to make your logic work.

Actual cishets don’t have multiple orientations/identities. Claiming those with multiple orientations/identities that include cishet doesn’t magically make them identical to actual cishets, its simply an asshole’s tactic to make yourself appear to be correct through erasure and exploiting people’s lack of understanding of intersectionality.

Just because teenagers on tunglr dot com fall for your blatant washing away of identities to paint other marginalized people as their own oppressors doesn’t mean you are correct, clever, or in any way going to get away with it. You’re transparent bigots, and the community is not going to support you.

INTP's Dominant Function: Introverted Thinking

Introverted Thinking involves the application of logic and reason for the sake of understanding a given situation, system, or problem. INTPs use Ti to bring structure and order to their inner world, granting them a strong sense of inner control. Inwardly, INTPs are highly self-disciplined, working to effectively manage their thoughts and their lives. The disciplined nature of their Ti compels INTPs to frame many things as a goal or challenge. These challenges may be physical (e.g., trying to achieve an ideal state of health or fitness), intellectual, practical, psychoemotional (e.g., becoming self-actualized), or later in their development, interpersonal (e.g., “perfecting” a relationship or becoming a skilled lover). In order to succeed in these personal challenges, INTPs are apt to impose rules on themselves. However, because of the wayward influence of their auxiliary Ne, they commonly end up breaking or sabotaging them.

INTPs often find it easier to identify inconsistencies or logical shortcomings—to assert what is not true—than to identify and confidently assert what is true. They can quickly locate inconsistencies or logical shortcomings in a given theory or argument. They excel when it comes to identifying exceptions or imagining scenarios in which the proposed explanation could breakdown. Due to their sensitivity to theoretical exceptions, they can be quick to throw theories and start from scratch. INTJs, by contrast, seem less deterred by ostensible exceptions, perhaps feeling that they will eventually be explained or otherwise rectified.

AIR SIGNS The three air signs are Gemini, Libra and Aquarius, and they represent collecting information, logical analysis and the development of theoretical understanding. The air signs rule social relationships and so they need freedom to make contact with others, but air doesn’t relate to the realm of human feeling, and this is quality that is given to the water signs.

Air types are a friendly bunch of people, they often have interesting topics to debate and approach communication in an intelligent and witty manner. These people are good listeners and like to take in all sorts of different viewpoints. In addition they are represented by either human forms or inanimate objects, and this gives us a massive clue to their civilized nature which is far removed from the animal and instinctive nature of the other astrological signs. Through the air triplicity man becomes more rational, we learn to reason, judge and make decisions, and by doing these things it takes us farther away from our more primitive instincts. It may be coincidence or pure astrological symbolism that has dictated that many of our world leaders are air signs, validating the airy signs interest in social affairs, society, and political concerns.

Air signs particularly like systems and some sense of structure to the universe, and these laws and patterns in nature must fit into some kind of logical order. The airy type believes in treating everyone as equally and fairly as possible; they are humane, courteous and have a deep awareness of others, seeking out thoughtful discussions. According to Jungian astrology both air and water are complete opposite elements. The air signs display a dispassionate rationality giving the impression of being cold. Though according to psychological astrology the emotions act unconsciously, and trend to run very deep, so behind all their cleverness with words and educated manner there is an emotional undertow that often surprises the individual .

Air is light, breezy, and graceful, and if you can imagine these types having their heads above the clouds, they often find it difficult to pick up on the subtlety of emotional clues in the environment. Many air people are usually well educated attempting to understand things logically rather than blindly reacting. Those with lots of planets in Air are the scholars, scientists, writers, political thinkers, journalists and objective folks in our world. It is thought that with the advent of the Aquarian age we are returning back to the values of the mind, rather than the heart, and human ingenuity and inventiveness will take a stronger hold on the world at large. This will bring great changes in social and political structures, but it will also create a greater emphasis on logic and technology. On the Aquarian level such new perceptions immediately threaten the old order, and such a shift in energy, initially reflects the beginning of conflict. The Age of Aquarius represents a tremendous amount of new energy to pour out into life.

In the tarot cards the swords represents the mind, and the application of logic. It also signifies the human capacity to form ideas and to also understand the consequences of our actions on a broader level. It rules our strategies, wisdom and intellect, and often “irrational” passions like jealousy, envy, and anger don’t fit comfortably into the Air signs ideal view of life. When we get hot-headed and feel emotionally heavy we often need to clear our heads and take a walk outside and breathe in some fresh air, and this often help us to get some perspective on a troubling situation.

The Air signs are famous for their abstract thoughts, but they are also said to have their heads in the clouds and are incredibly idealistic. The only danger with such idealism is that they lose touch with the real world. Both Libra and Aquarius are considered to be the signs that most crave perfection, and as a rule they are focused on ideas which have not yet materialized. Air likes to hover above the ground and they need freedom and space, allowing them to exercise their highly inventive minds.

Mutable Gemini is constantly on the move gathering and distributing information. Gemini’s airy nature utilizes itself through the ability to communicate facts. Our earliest social relationships are formed with our siblings and school friends in this sign. Gemini rules the nervous system which reacts to every stimulus in the environment. The Mercury ruled sign also represents a dualistic nature, which is needed when examining all sides of a situation, but they often switch positions, and rationalize one perspective, before switching to the next. Gemini’s are insatiably curious for knowledge and enjoy making many connections between one thing and another.

Cardinal Libra directs its energies towards unification by smoothing out conflicts and intervening diplomatically. Libra creates harmony by using fair logic and reasoning, and they have the ability to make comparisons, to weigh and to balance. The seventh sign represents active relationships with others, and they have an innate sense of justice. When things are out of balance, he or she will do their very best in order to achieve equilibrium. They have a talent for diplomacy and persuasion and have the ability to value both sides of an argument.

Fixed Aquarius creates the theoretical background for social ideas and connects groups of people, and have a natural inclination for working on behalf of humanity. Aquarius’ airy abilities appear through their ability to understand universal principles. Aquarius represents the brotherhood of humanity, and intellectual thinking combined with intuitive inspiration makes Aquarius a natural scientist, inventor and innovator. -The Astrology Place  Share this article :

My dearest Melody,

Please forgive the negative tone predominating my last letter. One would think by now I had learned to discern the difference between rational and irrational presumptions. I suppose I haven’t. The darkness of mind reveals itself in the most cynical application of logic, clouding our judgment in the process of labeling truths and theses. Still, it intrigues me how both our memories and preconceptions of the future ultimately share the same trait: surreality. It’s hard to stay aware of this and not get locked up in one’s own mind frames, which will always be subject to the whims of fleeting emotional states of being. The mind is a wondrous thing; a powerful tool of conjuration and alteration. Realizing this should offer some sort of mental liberty, a particular brand of freedom I have always so desperately sought to obtain. With varied results, evidently. I am still learning. I have to actively remind myself that which is truth doesn’t necessarily have to be logical. An interesting concept, now I think of it. Wouldn’t that be the most accurate description of a miracle? That which defies logic, or a logical outcome. Surely, in that case love would be the greatest miracle of all. A comforting thought. I do believe it is, dear Melody, and I am certain you do to. You were always remarkably attracted to the against-all-odds-scenario, perhaps it was because you were waiting for your own miracle. Yet, I wonder if you would ever be able to conceive the truth of your own miracle; that in fact you are a miracle? Though I do very much appreciate your humble nature, I do fear you are selling yourself short from time to time. So let me state it clearly: you are my miracle. For what doom awaits the perpetually tormented, hearing the creaking of his dungeon’s lock on the day of execution? Certainly it cannot be freedom, joy, and love. That would be all too much. At the very least it would be highly illogical. Yet that is what you have given me. It is but a metaphor, but words can hardly convey how much you mean to me; how truly remarkable you are. And yes, I know for some life-saving is a daily occupation; I’ve always held nurses, doctors, firemen, and anyone who would dedicate their life to saving people in high regard, but what could possibly be greater than saving a life through the sheer power of love? So please, never let anyone make you feel anything less than a miracle. Though some would conceive such a feat only to be reserved for a deity, opting to define any miracle as an act of God. You are more. At least, you are more to me. After all, it is life which makes existence miraculous. It is us! We are the wildflowers growing through the cracks in concrete; we are the puppy adopted on the day of humane euthanasia, bringing joy to the hearts of a family struggling to stay together, making them realize how much they love each other; we are the falling leaf causing ripples in the pond, startling the fish into fleeing before the heron even contemplated the decision to land on its edges. We are shifting shapes of chaos, with the added aspect of altering reality by our choices, which will always be subject to the whims of our emotions. Life is an accumulation of uncertain factors –  Then this must be the greatest human flaw, this urge to define everything within frames logic, conjuring up anything to disenchant and make the ethereal, the magical, the miraculous – seem logical. That’s what makes this special to me. You loved me. Out of nowhere there you were, obliterating every concept that ever made sense to me, carrying the truth of unknowing; the chaos of infinite possibilities. And I lived in undying fascination; the boundaries of my mind stopped making sense from the very first moment your soul started speaking to my own. It is odd to think and realize I never figured I had one until you looked at me and unraveled the purity of it all. And I wonder if I would ever be able to regain this sacred feeling of perfection if life proves me to be anything other than perfectly yours.

Yours faithfully,
—  M.A. Tempels © 2016 (Letters to Melody (4))

Not Knowing the Answer is the Answer:

One of my e-tutees, K, made this wonderful video and it made my day, because it reminded me of the importance of approaching a problem with honesty and openness. K and I have a running joke about the feeling of panic when I respond to her questions with, ‘Hmm. I don’t know’ and the frustration of the follow-up, ‘What tools do we have to think about this?’. I encounter this reaction a lot in the math-sphere: The expectation in hiring a tutor or going to a math class is that you will get answers right away, like math is a spectator sport requiring observation and memorization and nothing else. Shawty, I don’t roll that way.

Telling someone how to solve a problem doesn’t make them better at math, so I won’t do it. It leads back to my favorite question posed by Dr. Michael Starbird to IBL advocates: “What do we teach students? What is the role of an educator in a modern technological world?” Education is no longer based in having immediate recall of memorizable things. That’s Google, you’re thinking of Google. What Google can’t do for us is teach us how to think critically, reason through the problem, and find a solution that is not just accurate, but meaningful in application.

The first step in establishing this sort of education culture is to mandate the notion that it’s okay, heck, even preferable, to be wrong or not know what to do right away. The whole point is to think outside the formula. That way, when things go pear-shaped, it’s not unexpected or dismaying. There’s nothing more discouraging than having no tools to solve a problem, and when the only tools students are given come in the form of rote memorization, those tools don’t go very far.

Have some flow charts:

Essentially, I like to think of mathematics as a street fight, not a spelling bee. Step one should be to look at a problem and go, ‘We got a fine mess here. Okay, I’ve got some ideas, let’s try them out.’ My goal in understanding mathematical processes is to build tools that can be trusted each step of the way. The questions to ask should be things like, ‘What could help in this situation?’, ‘Is this application logically sound?’, ‘Is there a better way to approach this?’.  If I trust my ideas, and trust the steps, I feel confident with my solution.

Another thing I loved about this video was the reminder to appreciate how much K has changed as a thinker. Our inside joke has caused me to notice how much her response to my question of how to approach a problem with tools has changed over time. What was once a statement of, ‘I don’t know how to approach it, that’s why I asked you.’ has become a family of questions like, ‘What topics that I know are similar? Is it similar to factoring?’ or ‘Well, this problem describes a geometric situation, so what would the graph look like?’. When what was once a spectator sport becomes a dialogue between critical thinkers, it becomes actual mathematics.

Sherlock is slowly and perversely morphing into Bond. This cannot stand

With its abseiling assassins, bloody shootouts and underwater fisticuffs, Sherlock has ceased to be the brainy, vital show that became a phenomenon. What happened to the violin and pipe?

It doesn’t take a sleuth to tell you that Sherlock Holmes is cooler than James Bond. 007 may drink and gamble, but Holmes is the emperor of his own mind palace. Bond may drive an Aston Martin and fight with his fists, but Holmes can captivate a room with nothing more than his words. If you can think at the speed of light, you don’t need a pen that’s also a grenade.

So there should be cause for grave concern that the greatest mind in fiction is currently channelling the secret service agent whose main objective is to kill baddies but try not to get the dinner jacket dirty. Meetings must be held and pitchforks held aloft. This cannot stand.

The detective at 221B Baker Street has always occupied the natural realm. His capabilities, while breathtaking, are just about comprehensible. Holmes uses science and a phenomenal application of logic to make sense of physical evidence. Unlike Bond, he is just about human enough to remind us of people we have met at parties. He is a nerd, not an action figure; a scientist, not a spy. But, as Sherlock’s stakes have risen, and as the guns and assassins have multiplied, it is starting to feel worryingly like we are watching villains be taken to task by a mutation named Sherlock Bond.

Arthur Conan Doyle tells us in his short stories that Holmes has considerable athletic abilities, but chooses to keep these skills – boxing, bartitsu and singlestick – a titillating prospect: a stockinged leg poking out from behind a curtain. Because the most scintillating thing about Holmes is his mind, his displays of physical prowess ought to be rationed. Conan Doyle wanted his protagonist to rise above the cheap thrills of the penny dreadful. Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss should be aware that their protagonist is at risk of suffering the fate Conan Doyle swerved.

For a while, there was a clear line between the BBC show and the Guy Ritchie films that took inspiration from the same detective. Ritchie’s films are absurdly, knowingly over-the-top; his Holmes is played by a man who has spent most of his 40s in a red superhero outfit. The only thing anyone remembers about the films is that Robert Downey Jr does some good bare-knuckle boxing – and that at the end of the first film, Holmes doesn’t just fight his adversary, he fights him while wobbling precariously on top of Tower Bridge. Given that they are not based on any of the stories, Ritchie’s films may as well fly free, entirely divorced from the Baker Street detective. They are, as Michael Sragow writes in The New Yorker, camp.

When its budgets and audience were smaller, Sherlock could not have been accused of being camp. It mapped out Holmes’ mental machinations with verve and integrity. It was mischievous but loyal to the source material; and, crucially, it felt plausible.

The problems with the show, once so surprising and so vital, began in series three, when it had become a phenomenon. A single decision shoulders much of the blame. When Moffat, Gatiss or both decided that Mary Watson just had to be a ninja assassin with a murky past, they took ill-advised liberties with Conan Doyle’s stories in what one can only assume was an attempt to make the programme even sexier. It failed. None of the scenes involving Mary ring true. How can the viewer be expected to believe that both John Watson’s best friend and his wife could be waist-deep in such extraordinarily cool activities? The show began to feel implausible, a fate from which it has never recovered.

As the Miss Marple TV series reached the autumn of its years, its writers did not decide that what the character really needed was to pump lead into some bad guys. Poirot would not have been a better show if the moustachioed detective had an assistant who was also a Navy SEAL. There is obviously an audience and an appetite for abseiling assassins, machine-gun shootouts and Benedict Cumberbatch getting sopping wet while kicking ass in an expensive suit – as he does in latest episode The Six Thatchers. But, like the perverse instincts that lurk in the palaces of our minds, this is an appetite that ought to be resisted. Sherlock’s unofficial tagline is “brainy is the new sexy”. It feels like it gave up being brainy a while ago. Soon it may even cease to be sexy. Before you know it, it will have become James Bond.

GMTRW just confirms that throughout the triangle, we never heard Maya's point of view. We heard what Riley "thought" was Maya's point of view. She constantly spoke for Maya and told Maya what she did/didn't feel. And this new episode just reiterates the fact that Riley does not listen to anyone else's opinions/feelings but her own.

Yep, pretty much. And Maya was so messed up and confused by the time Josh came around peddling his ludicrous explanation for S2 that she just…goes along with it. Yikes.

I mean, yeah, Maya suggests earlier in SL2 that maybe she “turned into Riley” to see how Riley felt because Riley’s pressing Maya for a reason, but that whole thing is predicated on Maya actually ever “turning into Riley” to begin with—which is so easily disproved with just the slightest application of logic & critical thinking that it’s not even funny.

Riley’s not a bad person or a bad friend, but if after GMTRW people don’t STILL don’t get that she’s still very young and clueless which leads her to be pretty narrow-minded at times, which leads to her having a hard time considering other peoples’ feelings/points of view…man, I don’t even know what to say anymore.

Round 3 is still on it’s way, luv.

It’s just that I have my girlfriend, job, books, games, and life to attend to first. Can’t spend /all/ of my free time discussing a concept that isn’t actually real, you know.

Parting queries:
-How do any of you that I’ve argued with in this Johnlock fandom relate to Holmes at all?
-Where’s your penises and testicles? (I’m willing to bet good money that over 95% of Johnlockers are hormonally-charged young women)
-Have you smoked out of a pipe?
-Have you even smoked?
-Have you ever had cocaine in your system?
-Have you found delight in the application of cold logic?
-Have you walked with a strolling-cane for more than an hour or passively looked into singlestick combat?

hateful-dreams-deactivated20150  asked:

What is your opinion on "Otherkin" people cause I honestly think it's a fucking joke and these people need mental help😂

It’s predictable absurdity that results from

1.) Never correcting children

2.) Telling kids they can be anything they want

3.) And the application of the same logic that goes into our current stupid ideas of gender.

Some of it may very well be mental illness but a lot I think will grow out of it when they grow up a bit and realize…shit I’m ridiculous let’s never speak of that time in my life ever again.
