To help move away from summary and toward ANALYSIS, it’s important to incorporate strong verbs into your writing when discussing the writer’s rhetorical choices. Below is a list of verbs that are considered weak (imply summary) and a list of verbs that are considered strong (imply analysis). Strive to use the stronger verbs in your essays to help push yourself away from summary and toward analysis: ex “The writer flatters…” NOT “The writer says…”

AP exams are coming up too quickly🌸i’m stressing out; i have to take four exams! chemistry, united states history, language and composition, and calculus AB. 🌿i have all of the prep books and am enrolled in review courses online and whatnot! i am hoping for 4s and 5s! 🌷

To All the Students in School

I think this really needs to be said to all the high schoolers freaking out about AP exams, SAT scores, and ACT scores. Hell, even to those who are applying/applied to colleges or other things. The number that you end up reading off the collegeboard site does not determine your worth. The number that you end up reading off the collegeboard site does not determine how smart you are. The number that you end up reading off the collegeboard site does not determine your future. Only you, as a person, can determine that. I know it’s hard, I’m still in high school too. But I think you guys need to, have to, know that even if you get all A’s and a 1450+ (or 2200+) on the SAT that it doesn’t automatically guarantee you a job. You could end up going to Stanford, MIT, or Harvard but end up in a bad place. The school you end up going to doesn’t necessarily grant you a job either. Okay, yes, it makes it a little bit easier but either way, you’re going to have to work hard for everything to get where you want. All of you are so much more important than some score or letter grade. Y’all are gonna do great, as long as you have the passion and drive to work for it. Having straight A’s and perfect scores does not mean you will survive in the real world. Now, this isn’t a way to make you feel better or myself (since I’m not a straight A student either) about all of this because honestly it’s all so true.

Good luck on your AP exams and everything else though. :) You guys got this.

Disability services exist for AP classes and tests

The college board offered a range of disability accommodations for AP testing and other standardized tests

don’t allow your school to screw you over by saying those services do not exist, especially for AP testing

make sure to get your information and necessary materials in at
least 5 months ahead of time

services like large print materials, Braille, and extended time exists for students with disabilities

don’t let your school screw you over for AP classes, don’t let them scare you out of taking AP classes if you have a disability

friendly reminder to everyone taking ap exams:

•you’ve been preparing all year, you’ve got this
•the curve is generous
•when in doubt choose C
•answer every question, guess if you need to
•seriously, the curve is really generous
•ap exam scores don’t usually factor into college admissions (according to the collegeboard faqs)
