Aosuke – Monotone Spirits [Audiolith Records]

An exceptional release from the early days of the widely recognized Hamburg-based label Audiolith run by Lars Lewerenz which is probably best known for the quasi-invention of the genre ElectroPunk with largely successful acts like Frittenbude, Egotronic, Supershirt, Ira Atari, Captain Capa and more as well as several other acts sporting a more  diverse selection of music including Romantic House, HipHop, SynthPop, Punk and – although for this specific release only – beautifully floating Post-PostRock / PopAmbient produced by Aosuke, a collaborational project of Ulf Schütte and Tobert Knopp, who is part of the famous German Punk outfit Turbostaat. The album copy used here is one of a very limited amount of whitelabel pre-release test pressings that was handed to baze.djunkiii directly by Audiolith-founder Lars Lewerenz to be played on the radioshow „Die Nachtschwestern“ and throughout his more experimental-focused DJ-sets in which it’s still regularly featured even about ten years after its initial release due to the amazing fusion of repetitive, calm guitar play and quirky, swamp-like electronic sounds.
