”Anyway, in this last year, I do have a little more appreciation for those who’ve been with me on this amazing ride. Like one of our nation’s finest public servants, Joe Biden. God love him. Tonight, I just want to thank him for being a great friend and advisor, for keeping me honest – and for not shooting anybody in the face.” —President Obama at his final White House Correspondents’ Dinner
My sense is that the Supreme Court is about to make a shift, one that I welcome, which is to recognize that—having hit a critical mass of states that have recognized same-sex marriage—it doesn’t make sense for us to now have this patchwork system, and that it’s time to recognize that under the Equal Protection Clause of the United States, same-sex couples should have the same rights as anybody else.

Grab your popcorn! Ted Cruz questions Attorney General nominee Loretta Lynch
It was Ted Cruz’s turn to ask questions at Attorney General nominee Loretta Lynch’s confirmation hearing. As you might expect, Cruz went straight to the heart of matters: the Constitution.
Ms. Lynch, like pretty much anybody Obama has ever nominated, refused to answer questions in any kind of straightforward manner, but Cruz, a former Attorney General of Texas, knows how to drag an answer out of an unwilling witness.
Here’s the first video. Cruz starts by pointing out to Ms. Lynch that the job of an Attorney General is to be an impartial agent of the law, not to be a legal wing for the White House. Then he specifically gets into the Obama administration’s executive amnesty scheme:
Here’s their back and forth regarding whether or not Obama has the power to simply ignore the written law. Stick through to the end on this one because Cruz sets her up with the easiest question imaginable, but she can’t give any answer without indicting President Obama’s lawlessness:
Finally, here’s round 3. Cruz starts by goes back to the constitutional frame work of using drone strikes to kill American citizens overseas, a question Eric Holder refused to ever answer.
One thing we can say for sure is that Loretta Lynch is a polished and poised lawyer. But once you wade through her pleasant tone to the actual substance of her answers, it is clear that Lynch is already serving the role of legal interference for Obama’s lawlessness. Not once in that line of questioning did she ever answer a question by saying, “No, the Constitution would prevent the President from taking such an action."
Despite Obama's promises, US ground troops engage in combat with ISIS in Iraq
Another day, another bald-faced lie from the President completely shattered.
Thankfully, our men on the ground kicked some serious ISIS tail in their first official battle.
American troops in Iraq had their first actual battle with ISIS troops, after the Islamist militants tried to overrun a base, an encounter that left the ISIS troops decimated and in retreat.
The attack took place near the Ein al-Asad base, which includes close to 100 U.S. military advisers. The U.S. troops, armed with “light and medium weapons,” and were able to inflict casualties against the ISIS fighters, forcing them to retreat, Shafaq News reported. The American troops were also aided by fighter jets, which directed air strikes against the ISIS troops that “silenced their heavy sources of fire.”
“US forces intervened because of ISIS started to come near the base, which they are stationed in so out of self-defense,” said Sheikh Mahmud Nimrawi, a prominent tribal leader.
The incident was the first time that American troops clashed with ISIS forces on the ground in Iraq. For several weeks, the United States has led a series of air strikes against ISIS positions in Iraq and Syria, ones aimed at crippling the militant group’s ability to move about the country and coordinate attacks.
ISIS has responded by calling on members to strike out against American interests in the United States and Canada, and also executing Western hostages. Rebels are now reportedly trying to sell the body of American journalist James Foley for a reported $1 million.
Did anybody believe Obama when he said “no boots on the ground”? Did anybody believe him when he said what he meant was “no combat for the boots on the ground”? If you did, I’ve got some prime real estate to sell you…it even has a bridge on it.
