In the darkest of times, you were my conscience. Your heart was a light, Mary, and it burned so very bright for France. No matter how far you go, that light will burn forever.
I love you, Mary Stuart. F o r e v e r.
Color Reference Guide to Recognize & Avoid Whitewashing
I’ve made a tutorial on how to color adjust to fix washed out colorings, but I noticed people aren’t always sure when their coloring needs fixing in the first place. So I’ve made a bunch of colorings you can use to compare your own to. It’s designed to help avoid whitewashing, but also help avoid over-correction.
If you’re not a content creator, you can also use this guide for reblogging as well. :)
Using the Guide
Each set comes in three: cool, neutral, and warm. If your coloring is bluer/whiter than the cool tone, consider readjusting.
Examples of what might be too pale/bright are beneath each set
There are various categories (daytime, night scenes, etc) for each type of scene you might encounter
Each coloring has a color palette beneath for the highlights, midtones, and shadows of the character’s face. If you’re having trouble eyeballing it, use the eyedropper tool to double check.
NOTES 1)For the sake of simplicity, I’ve used one character per category, but characters of color are not interchangeable. Identify the skin tone for the character you’re coloring and work with that. This is only meant to give a frame of reference for what is and isn’t whitewashing
2)If any of the colorings look different than what they’ve been stated as (i.e. the cool tones look too warm or some look way too dark to be visible) calibrate your monitor. It means your screen color and gamma needs readjustment.
this took a while only because I was so unsure of everyone’s roles - no character matches up 100% with one - but I think I like the final product. I’m not very good at mocking the Atlantis/Disney style so there’s an obvious mixture of my own here…haha.
i decided to make Wu Mole on the grounds that they are both very flirtatious characters. Varrick and Vinny share a moustache and an inventive spirit when it comes to explosives, Mako is Dr. Sweet simply because he’s just as handsome and caring, Bolin would have been Cookie who is comic relief but he wasn’t in this scene, and Opal is the tough but big-hearted Audrey. Zaheer and Kuvira probably wouldn’t work together in canon because of their ideals but their appearance/characters match well with Rourke and Helga’s (plus Rourke ends up betraying Helga).
and Toph is Packard for obvious reasons.
I don’t know what scenes to do next so this might be my last one, though I kind of plan to do the Crystal Chamber scene unless there are any requests. Hope you like this one!
warning: reader is a teasing little shit. that is all.
a/n: hello i’m new and can’t remember the last time i wrote fanfiction lmao. evan is also probably most likely ooc here,, avert your eyes children. i’m working on becoming better tho just you wait!!
“Do you ever, um, draw people?”
You raised a brow at Evan, because really? You were in the middle of sketching his portrait, as per his request, and he decided to ask if you ever drew people. God, he’s lucky he’s so cute.
Sensing your unimpressed thoughts, Evan fidgeted in his seat, waving his hands around in an attempt to explain himself. “No, like, uh, people? The sort of- The kind where they, um.” Wringing his hands together in unease, his stammering comes to a stop. The tips of his ears were beginning to flush as the wheels in your head clicked into place.
“Oh, you mean, like, erotica?” You snorted. What an innocent dork.
Evan’s face turned completely red and oh no he’s so cute this is so unfair. “I mean, because you’re really good at art and everything. And, and I kinda wondered, you know, I figured you’ve probably done something like that before, sorry, I don’t even know why I’m—”
You tuned him out and placed your sketchbook down, moving to stand behind him. “Well, sometimes,” you answered, effectively shutting him up. “Do you mean in positions like…” You leaned down to hold his body close to yours, chest to back, and you could feel his heart pounding a mile a minute. “…this?” you whispered into the shell of Evan’s ear, delighting in the sharp intake of his breath.
Your fingers danced along Evan’s arm, leaving a trail of goosebumps in its wake.
A small smile crept its way onto your face. “Or maybe even”—you slowly circled around him, seating yourself comfortably on his lap—”like this?”
Evan’s hands hovered uncertainly in the air, then settled lightly, hesitantly on your hips. Softly stuttering out your name, his half-lidded eyes flickered to your lips, brushing ever-so-slightly against his. You laughed tenderly and tilted your head.
Summary: (College!AU): In which you try to adjust to daily texts from Bucky.
Pairing: Bucky x Reader
Word Count: 1,418
A/N: @poe-also-bucky requested: I was wondering if you had any deleted scene over the first time reader realized Bucky’s daily texts were going to be daily texts? She mentions that even after a week, she’s still trying to get used to it, and I would love to know how she felt maybe when she realized he would be texting her goodnight, for instance. <3 This takes place between “The Unintentional Run-In” and “The Little Things (Part One)”
Checking your phone first thing in the morning isn’t something you’re in the habit of doing. With a clock hanging on your wall, all you need to do is check that to see what time it is instead of your phone. It also helps that the only people you want to talk to in the morning are the same two people that you live with.
It’s for those reasons that you end up don’t check your phone until your first class ends. When you do, you come across a couple of messages from Nat and Wanda, as well as one from Bucky. Or, as he insisted you call him, James.
It’s been quite an interesting quest to stop seeing Bucky as the friend you’ve had since freshman year and start seeing him as James, someone you’re just getting to know. The shift has made you realize just how used to his presence you had become over the past few years.
After responding to your roommates’ messages, you turn to Bucky’s. When you do, what you see stops you in place. The two of you have been texting more regularly, but this is new.
