antique souvenir

Does no one else have this headcanon?

Like, Kara gradually introduces herself into Lena’s life.

But being a Luthor, Lena never even once considered any visitors because, you know, everyone hates her guts, so her house/flat/apartment/whatever is small and lavish, but everything from the appliances to the furniture in her house is literally made for a single, lonely occupant. Like, her place is modern and minimalist and it has the colors black, white, gray, maybe even umber, but there are no brighter colors and it’s just dull. And there’s the music room with instruments Lena is proficient at that are collecting dust because she doesn’t have time to play, but she mostly doesn’t have anyone to play them for and it’s more satisfying to do something for someone and not alone. Then there’s the fact that Lena doesn’t have any personal belongings that have sentimental value to her; obviously no photos of family or friends, no posters, no nerdy knick knacks, no antique souvenirs from her business trips even, so the walls only have a few canvases of art to fill in that empty void, and it just makes Kara so fucking sad.

But because Kara comes over so often, Lena has had to make changes to her abode to accommodate her only friend. And slowly, but surely, there’s a dining table large enough for two, more food in the refrigerator, a guest bedroom, a bigger coffee table, a larger couch/sofa, a bigger television screen, more drawers and cabinets, and Lena doesn’t notice anything because she’s so focused on buying new furniture every time Kara comes over and is worried that they’ll have yet another impasse because something is made for one person only. But like, Kara does notice, and it makes her so giddy to even think about it because now Lena’s place has shades (though still dark shades because pastel nor pink is her thing) of red, green, blue, etc. Then Lena plays music more often and the instruments aren’t so horridly out of tune anymore and then there’s a single framed photo of her and Kara sitting in her bedroom’s nightstand.

And yes, I’m implementing this to my fics.

Cancer Sun

Those with the Sun in Cancer have a changeable nature, which makes them something of an enigma, even with those closest to them. They’re ruled by the Moon, and are similarly known to glow brightly one moment, and hide their faces the next. A highly emotional sign, they can sink into a mood and fully inhabit it, so that it seems to permeate the atmosphere around them.

The Cancer imagination is so vivid that it’s like they’re watching home movies inside their heads. For them, every life experience can be replayed again and again in technicolor, and the same internal landscape revisited. This is the raw material for both creative genius, and the tendency to get stuck in emotional eddies. And because they’re psychic sponges, they need plenty of space to unravel the little dramas of the day, or they’ll get cranky.

The Cancer has a tender heart, but you might not see it at first behind the cool exterior. Once you’re allowed inside the circle of trust, you’ll start to know why they’re called the “mother” of the Zodiac. All genders under this sign have an instinctive nurturing side that endears them to those they love. The Crab’s claws hold tight, though, and often they have trouble letting go of relationships and situations.

The stealth approach of the Cancer Sun often takes people by surprise, and many have been underestimated. They’ll protect their sensitivity by going after what they want indirectly, which can be seen as passive. But try to take advantage of their gentle nature, and you’ll soon be put in your place. Once crossed, the Cancer holds a grudge to infinity, so it’s hard to win back their trust.

Above all, the Cancer wants a sense of belonging, and an intimate home life. Once committed, they’ll prove to be the ultimate family man or woman, and likely never stray too far from the nest.

Sun in Cancer natives have a strong survival instinct. They are protective of those they care about, and of themselves too. They are often quite reticent about sharing their inner selves to the rest of the world, and are often caught up in reminisce.

Cancers have a reputation for moodiness, although this trait is most evident when the Moon is in Cancer. Cancer needs roots. They resist change to an extent, and concern themselves about being secure and safe in most everything they do. Cancers can also be quite intrigued by objects with history attached to them — antiques, photos, souvenirs, and the like.

As a very sensitive sign, they don’t always appreciate it when you are blunt with them. Their reactions to being hurt will depend on how thick a shell they have developed. Most Cancers react by withdrawing or retreating. Some have developed an ability to manipulate others to get what they want. They avoid direct confrontations almost as a rule. Cancers are, in fact, quite yielding and soft when you have them in the right mood. They are one of the more hospitable signs of the zodiac. Sure, they can be touchy and indirect, but they are also very dependable, caring souls.
