In anticipation of a long-awaited Marvel panel, thousands of superhero fans swarmed to Hall H, where Tom Hiddleston made a sweeping entrance fully dressed as his own character, the infamous Avengers villain, Loki. Hiddleston’s appearance sent the entire crowd into a crazed frenzy prior to the start of the panel. c

I Want You to Want Me

So this was something Angie @thetourguidebarbie suggested as a prompt a few weeks back and I was feeling inspired. How would the scene in the TVD graduation episode have gone with Klaus discovering all of Caroline’s missed calls and voicemails upon arriving in Mystic Falls? Hopefully a little something like this and with a slightly different ending….

Klaus ran his thumb slowly over the graduation announcement card and in particular her name written in perfect, black cursive. The paper was beginning to wear given just how many times he’d read it. There was no denying he’d missed Caroline since being in New Orleans but had resigned himself not to see her for a while, well until however long it takes he’d told himself.

It had been a particularly uneventful day, except for his usual plotting to bring down Marcel and regain the throne, when Elijah had thrown a stack of mail on the coffee table in the lounge room. The crisp, white envelope on top with the neat handwriting had immediately caught his attention.

He leaned across and picked it up, tracing the address and then inhaling the floral perfumed scent emanating from the stationery like the wolf he was. His crimson lips curved into a knowing smile. It was from her.

He checked that the room was clear from his eldest brother’s prying eyes before ripping it open excitedly and wondering what Caroline wanted. The card inside seemed elegant and unassuming but on closer inspection her intentions were clear and to the point. He smiled thinking just how Caroline Forbes that was.

Yes, she probably wanted a monetary gift but the fact she’d sent it all the way to New Orleans meant she’d been thinking about him. It was then he made the arrangements to charter an airplane and fly directly to Mystic Falls so he wouldn’t miss her big day.

Elijah had immediately questioned his movements and why he’d changed suits five times. Klaus had merely growled in his direction before making his way to the airport. The last thing he needed was his family teasing him unnecessarily.

The plane wheels impacted with the runway breaking Klaus from his trance. He was finally back in Mystic Falls. He wasn’t quite sure how his reappearance would be received but figured some cash and his other begrudging gift would be welcomed.

He rummaged in his pocket for his cell, figuring it was safe to turn it on now they were taxiing along the small airstrip. What he wasn’t expecting was the multiple beeps that rang out. He consulted the screen noting nineteen missed calls and thirteen voice mails.  Had something happened in the quarter in his short absence?

He navigated through the screens finding his missed call register.  Every call belonged to Caroline and he felt the nerves swirl around his stomach. If anything had happened to her, Klaus would torture whomever was responsible.

The front door opened and Klaus stalked down the stairs purposefully feeling the cool air hit his flushed face. His hands shook angrily as he consulted his voicemails and pressed the button to hear what she’d left him.

[Thursday 16 May, 2013 - 10:47am] “Klaus, we need your help. Damon’s been bitten by a werewolf. Call me back.”

He checked his watch, noticing that she’d left that message five hours earlier. Klaus didn’t care for the eldest Salvatore or for saving his life but Caroline had a way of making him do exactly what he didn’t want to do. He’d be upset if he didn’t love her and that bossy nature so much.

He jumped into the waiting car, barking instructions to the Salvatore Boarding House. Yet again he would save a life but only for her. It was always just for her. He held his phone to his ear again oblivious to the passing scenery, listening for the next message in anticipation.

[Thursday 16 May, 2013 - 11:09am] “So much for a call back. If you’re somewhere eating beignets or drinking someone’s blood while I’m in full on crisis mode, I’m going to be pretty disappointed, Mikaelson.”

Klaus chuckled aloud, earning a curious glance from his chauffeur in the rearview mirror. He really needed to learn to control those emotional urges but Caroline brought it out in him.

[Thursday 16 May, 2013 - 11:23am] “I get the whole Mikaelson family creepy vibe (complete with carting them around in coffins) but come on. A call back wouldn’t be so difficult given my predicament.”

Klaus would have been offended if it wasn’t Caroline saying those words, especially in that gorgeous but slightly panicked tone.

[Thursday 16 May, 2013 - 11:27am] “I get it, this is what you want. Me begging for you to come to town and you pretending to play hard to get. Just so you know playing hard to get is so last year according to Cosmopolitan and that doesn’t change the current state of emergency.”

Klaus figured the drive would be boring but he was enjoying himself immensely listening to her cute voice. In fact he could do this all day.

[Thursday 16 May, 2013 - 11:35am] “Klaus now is not the time to decide that you are over me. I’m going to call you every ten minutes until you get your ass here to save Damon’s life.”

His ears pricked up at that last message. She didn’t want him to be over her? He played it back just to be sure that’s what she’d uttered. Yeah, sure there was an emergency but even Klaus knew that Caroline Forbes never said anything she didn’t mean. Hell, Klaus figured a truth serum would be pointless given her unabashed and refreshing honesty.

It was at that point he was tempted to call her and relieve her fears, but he saw the Boarding House looming in the distance.  The one thing Klaus knew was that as soon he was finished there he was going to seek out the beautiful blonde for an explanation.

[Thursday May 16th, 2013 - 11:45am] “I bet you thought I was lying about those ten minute intervals,” she growled. “You know I’m just going to say it. I thought after a thousand years you would have learnt some decorum. Obviously I was wrong.”

They pulled up at their destination and Klaus stepped out of the car, his phone still stuck to his ear intently.

[Thursday May 16th - 11:55am] “Have you been reading He’s Not that into You’? Because just so you know those circumstances don’t apply in crises.”

Klaus made a mental note to read that upon returning to New Orleans before knocking on their front door. Once he’d finished here Klaus had every intention of finding Caroline and following up on some of those messages.

75 minutes later

“How’d you get here so fast?”

“I was already on my way,” he smiled knowingly. “I received your graduation announcement. I assume you’re expecting cash?” He asked pulling the card from his pocket and hoping she didn’t notice how worn it looked.

“That or a mini fridge,” she grinned. It was difficult being this close and after all her frantic messages not to kiss those beautiful, pink lips.

He shook his head slightly attempting to regain his composure. He’d planned exactly what was going to say and what gift he was going to selflessly give but all of those messages stuck in his head, even the six he hadn’t heard yet.

“I am sorry I missed your calls, your messages…”

“You listened to my messages,” she squeaked.

“I assumed that was the point of voicemail, love.”

“I was under a lot of stress,” she argued. “I don’t usually go around just saying…”

“Saying what?”

“You’re enjoying this aren’t you, Mikaelson?” Klaus had to control his dimples knowing that they wouldn’t be too well received right now.

“I was happy to help,” he offered diplomatically. “Those messages were just an added bonus. I think the last few will be a nice distraction on my way home.”

“You haven’t listened to them all?”

“Well, not yet.”

“I’ll do anything if you just don’t listen to them,” she rambled, her hands running distractedly through those golden waves he loved so much. Obviously someone had admitted more than he’d ever expected.  “Whatever you want.” Klaus had to ignore the lust coursing through his body at that particular suggestion.

“How about a drink? It’s the least you deserve for graduating.” She regarded him solemnly before nodding in agreement. “And a promise.” He murmured, threading his arm through hers as they walked away in the darkness.

“A promise?” She asked curiously.

“How about we talk about that later, I figure you and I both have however long it takes to discuss that.”

My Top Ten Horror and Genre Films of 2013!

This year I got to see so many great films at festivals all over the world, online and at our local theatres! I love weird horror and sci-fi genre films more than anything so Ive compiled a list of what I think are the top 10 most effectively scary, disturbing, suspenseful and/or spooky films I got to see this year!

Some are remakes, some are borderline documentary and others are directorial firsts but all I considered to be quite simply, awesome.

In no particular order…

EVIL DEAD - Fede Alvarez

I was very excited to see this remake and it did not disappoint. This film is a tour de force of awesome practical effects and although not everyone loved the storyline I thought it was a great re-imagining of the original.

V/H/S 2 - Simon Barrett, Jason Eisener, Gareth Evans, Gregg Hale, Eduardo Sanchez, Timo Tjahjanto, Adam Wingard.

What I love about the V/H/S films is the sampling of great horror material you get from so many awesome directors. Both the sequel and the original have made me go out and watch other feature films from nearly all the directors involved. Putting their talent together in an anthology series like V/H/S was something refreshing I think the genre needed and has opened the door for new filmmakers much like The ABC’s of Death. V/H/S 2 had its ups and downs, but delivered on the scares and originality of its content. If you haven’t already you need to see this film!

THE CONJURING - James Wan

As I’m writing this I’m sitting in front of the special features menu on The Conjuring Blu ray. I saw this film twice in theatres and after my first viewing immediately went home and researched the Perron family for hours on end. I loved this film. Ed and Lorraine Warren will always hold a special place in my heart and to see part of their story told so well on screen was awesome. The Conjuring, along with most of Wan’s films, gets my vote for best titles of the year!

MANIAC - Franck Khalfoun

I have been following of Elijah Woods foray into horror since the emergence of Spectrevision and am loving everything that he has done so far! Some may think the first person camera style of the Maniac remake is a gimmick but I think it does nothing but heighten the experience of getting a view into this characters totally deranged life. I liked this film a lot more than I thought I would and the gore effects were especially gruesome!

YOU’RE NEXT - Adam Wingard

I don’t even know where to begin with this one. You’re Next totally blew me away and erased any negativity I ever felt towards the home invasion genre. It was brutal, funny, sick, suspenseful and the soundtrack had me on the edge of my seat. One second you felt like you were watching Home Alone and the next you were transported to some awesome 80’s slasher flick brought into 2013. I can’t say enough good things about this film. Adam Wingard is wonderful and I can’t wait to see The Guest!

BYZANTIUM - Neil Jordan

I had been waiting to see this film ever since I saw Antiviral at last year’s Atlantic Film Festival. I love Caleb Landry Jones and saw that he was in this one as well. With Byzantium Neil Jordan has brought another beautifully crafted vampire film to the screen. Interview With the Vampire is a favourite of mine and Ive seen more vampire films than I can count but this one certainly stands out as being something much more than typical. The tone and cinematography in the film was perfectly grey and moody and the female leads gave great performances. If you like vampires even a little please check out this film!

TOAD ROAD - Jason Banker

I was fortunate enough to be able to see Toad Road at a local genre film festival called Outlier in November. I didn’t know a lot about the film, only that the director had found a group of teens to spend time with and document and that footage was integrated into the film. Well, that and I can never resist a film about hell or the devil. The urban legend of the film really interested me and the more you watch the more you feel like you’re being pulled down along with the characters through toad road and this different state of mind. This one was definitely one of the weirder films I saw this year but also one of the best!

BERBERIAN SOUND STUDIO - Peter Strickland

A film about Italian horror sound studio recordings?! Where do I sign up, was my first thought when I heard about this film. I was so excited for Berberian Sound Studio and I was so glad it didn’t disappoint. It had a touch of weirdness to it that made it extra memorable for me and of course, the sound in the film was killer. This one easily made it into my top 10 and if you haven’t been to see it yet you need to!

STOKER - Chan-wook Park

This was one of my highly anticipated releases of 2013. An american film from Chan-wook Park with a creepy storyline is my cup of tea. I found this film subtly eerie in ways that I don’t see a lot in the genre and loved the colouring and feel of the film. This was one of the few wide release genre films I really enjoyed this year and to see original content in a world of remakes was refreshing!

A FIELD IN ENGLAND - Ben Wheatley

I can say without a shadow of a doubt that this was my favourite film of 2013. I had the opportunity to see this film at The Atlantic Film Festival this September and after the movie was over my friends thought I might even cry I was so visibly moved. I haven’t felt this way about a film in a long time and to know that there are filmmakers out there with the ambition and guts to bring something so strange and fearless to the screen is comforting. In beautiful black and white A Field in England was mystical, gritty, poetic and wonderfully psychedelic. Please watch this film.

All in all it was a great year for the genre, and 2014 already has me looking forward to a lot of new content from some favourite directors and some new ones as well! Honourable mentions that nearly made the top 10 this year are HERE COMES THE DEVIL, the shirt film, DECOPODA SHOCK, DOOMSDAYS, INSIDIOUS CHAPTER 2, THE LORDS OF SALEM, MAMA, and of course HANSEL AND GRETEL WITCH HUNTERS. I hope anyone who takes the time to actually read this will see at least one film this year that might be a little on the strange side! <3 <3 <3

Rancid Girl
Sky Ferreira
Rancid Girl

“Sky Ferreira has said she’s recorded over 400 songs throughout her years on Capital Records, but only 12 tracks saw the light of day on her much anticipated 2013 debut Night Time, My Time. That is until Now.

Yesterday (Feb. 27), Ferreira took to Twitter to address the fact that one of her songs, "Rancid Girl” leaked online. Not that she was too upset about it. “Leaks usually bother me,” she tweeted. “But I actually like ‘Rancid Girl’ so that's… cool?”

The song itself is a stripped down ballad that showcases Ferreira’s vulnerable vocals and lyrics beside an acoustic guitar. Ferreira wrote the song with composer Jon Brion, Fiona Apple collaborator Blake Mills and Cass McCombs, who Sky told Radio.com last year made one of her favorite albums of 2013 with Big Wheel and Others.“

Top 6 Toys Of The Year 2013 - Generations Rhinox - #6

Numbers 6-4 are not in any particular order - they will roll out as I finish the sets. Thanks for viewing.

This was my most anticipated Transformer of 2013 next to Blitzwing. My disappointment with Blitzwing stung a bit, but I didn’t learn my lesson and kept on hoping for Rhinox to pull through and blow my mind. I love almost every character from the Beast Wars series. I grew up watching that after school everyday with my dad. From 3 - 4 it was Beast Wars time. We followed that through all the way to the bitter sweet end. So I am ultra nostalgia-biased when it comes to Beast Wars (for the character’s not necessarily the show) to a point where I wanted to take him off of the list thinking I let that get in the way of my judgment on the actual toy itself. Well quite frankly Rhinox deserves a spot on everyone’s list.

I have most - of the original beast wars toys but for whatever reason I don’t recall any fond memories of Rhinox. He wasn’t a standout next to my favorites which where dinobot, cheetor, and depthcharge. I forgot him until I stumbled upon the original Beast Wars toys in a Mandarake in Osaka. What a shell-former he was. This Generations interpretation is absolutely gorgeous in both modes. Excellent use of joints, swivels/springs (the arms), simple and yet genius engineering for the torso, and the one piece of soft plastic is especially wonderful as it helps to keep his form (in rhino mode) from even his rear end. It’s important to mention that none of his bits or transformation hinges hinder his pose-ability in robot mode and only adds it. All this attention to detail just goes to show how well thought out this toy was. This is a definite love letter for Beast Wars fans to a point where it brings a tear to my eye it makes me so happy with the toy, and the nostalgia doesn’t help either. Thanks mom and dad for the birthday gift and one of my now favorite toys of all time that will probably stand the test of time beyond even my top 3 for this year.

Top Toys of 2013

but the people who are gonna make the AT movie dont even have the permission from the author?????

and changdictator (the author of AT) is ok with adaptations but must be kept in the fandom. so in short they have to keep the names jongin kyungsoo baekhyun etc. however they cant also keep the names since they are real people.

besides, chang hasnt updated anything yet since early this year so how are they gonna get her permission?

to sum it all,, im kinda mad at the people who wants to adapt the fic cause they dont have the permission to do so and its disrespecting the author’s work. plus they even have to use the name of real people and not only will it be released in the fandom but also outside! THE AUTHOR STATED THAT ADAPTATION FICS MUST BE ONLY IN THE FANDOM! FANFICTIONS MUST ONLY BE KEPT WITHIN THE FANS! NOT SHARE IT OUTSIDE THE FANDOM OR FICDOM!

the group/people who are making the movie only liked the plot not even thinking about the thoughts of the author or even the characters. isnt it illegal to publish a movie or book with real people’s names? much less to publish something without the original author’s permission?

There is something here I would like to briefly address. Please pay great attention to the words of the narrator (in the squares).

In this scene, the narrator mentions that it was his father, (presumably Grisha) who wrote on the back of the photograph. For the first time in the series, the narrator actually describes himself, or to be more precise, his father, thus revealing his lineage. No longer is he a voice lacking physical form, here he becomes an actual character part of the story, the child of Grisha.

This may not seem like a big deal, but there are a few things to consider. This type of presentation was not necessary at all. In order to convey Grisha’s message, Isayama could have one of the characters simply read the letter directly; or he could’ve let the narrator do the talking, without identifying himself first. Yet, despite these options (options he has used in the past, if I may add), he chose to have the narrator describe himself before quoting Grisha. Why did Isayama do that? This form of presentation is unique to the series, there has to be a reason for him to apply it at this very moment.

The only other thing we know about the narrator was revealed during Ymir’s departure in ch50, with the narrator being part of the group not understanding Ymir’s actions back then. And now we know his father (Grisha) wrote the notes in the basement. The anime had us believe that Armin narrates the story, but did Isayama anticipate this in 2013? Does it even matter in the manga? This new piece of evidence suggests a parentage between Grisha and the narrator, the first possible candidate is obviously Eren. However, the narrator has described Eren in third person before, in ch 73, which seems strange if he’s talking about himself. Another option is the child on the picture. Is it Zeke, Bertholdt, Erwin, Armin, someone completely new? We don’t know yet, but he seems to be Grisha’s child (if that’s really him on the left), thus making him a narrator candidate.

Why did Isayama reveal this now? Does it have any significance? Who really is the narrator? I have absolutely no idea, but Isayama did it, so maybe we should think about it.
