another elitist

“Either or both can be arranged. My parties are intended to please all.”

AU where Hannibal is a business tycoon, and Will a business columnist. Both seemingly hating each other’s guts, but secretly crushing on one another. In a ritzy, elitist party thrown by Hannibal, a humble Will looks out of place and lost. And Hannibal comes to the rescue.

A Song of Ice and Fire + champions of the smallfolk

“The common people pray for rain, healthy children, and a summer that never ends,” Ser Jorah told her. “It is no matter to them if the high lords play their game of thrones, so long as they are left in peace.” He gave a shrug. “They never are.”

what do u hate about twenty one pilots

ok first of all the band/fanbase seems VERY elitist when it comes to ~not being like those OTHER UNINTELLIGENT rappers~ (see: drake, nicki, travie etc)

u notice a theme there lmao (not to mention lane boy is racist af)

another thing is that the fanbase goes on and on and ON about how ~the CLIQUE IS SO ACCEPTING  WE LOVE EVERYONE~ but will defend a LITERAL TRANSPHOBE over listening to ACTUAL trans ppls complaints

yet ANOTHER elitist esque thing is how the band is like “if u abbreviate our band w NUMBERS and dont TYPE IT OUT u dont ~get our band~” like????????

ok first of all WHAT is the POINT of abbreviations  exactly???? convenience. and they want u to Not do That

second of all there may be people who find it physically easier to process the post when the abbreviation is  typed out in numbers  (be it dyslexia or not being native to english ) and they want u to Not Do That

third of all???? like… let ppl fuckin abbreviate ur fuckin bands title however the FUCK they want FUCK OFF

ok final gripe i have and its just i dont like their music lmao

7.8/10 too much deep not enough Fun

He was a little worse for wear, hood up and drinking his third glass of hard alcohol, he needed it after the week he had. He didn’t ever expect to have worked for the military but that was the price one had to pay to keep up appearances, avoid suspicion and be capable of living his lie.

It started out as a sudden summons from Captian Thomas-Alexandre Dumas and after a short private chat, he was in a military uniform fit for his rank and living is a private tent for the last seven days. He had several tasks to accomplish, one being to train and show the newer and currently guard the skills of his ‘special’ team of soldiers that were charged with difficult tasks and why with hard training, it would be worth trying to reach this elitist rank. Another was to find and weed out any bad apples in the ranks and lastly, for his own personally benefit. Personally, escort a few of his noble ‘friends’ around the military grounds.

While he succeeded in all of his tasks, participating in the military by day and being an assassin, gathering info on other high ranking members by night took a toll one him mentally and physically. Considering his strong point had always been ranged, he had up fairly well against the well-trained members of the army. While some managed to get some lucky strikes on him, it wasn’t until the sixth day that the Captian thought he has done enough demonstrating after nearly getting knocked out by a blow to the face and managing to get back up.

After seven days of what he would jokingly say was hell. All he wanted to do was drink enough to forget the pain in muscles he had forgotten he had and make his way home with his horse Bella. Considering everything he had done, he was glad the only injuries he managed was the usual bruising, some minor cuts and scraps and lastly a black eye on the left side of his face.

In Mann VS. Machine, a good team can win with any team composition. However, a bad team can’t win no matter the team composition. So many people consider the Two Cities meta (Scout, Soldier, Demo, Heavy, Engineer, Medic) as the easiest way to win. No, it’s the easiest tactic to LEARN, but not necessary the most effective. A good argument here is the low damage output done to tanks (replacing the Medic by a Phlogistinator Pyro generally solves that).

Another thing that elitists think is that you “need” a class. No, the only class you need is an Engineer, and this is for his dispenser. The rest is just something called “roles”.

For players here that want to make their own Mann VS. Machine team composition, here’s a short list of what you need: money collector, crowd control, Medic killer, Giant killer, and tank buster. Remember, a class can do more than one role or only half of a role.

IN GENERAL :: every time somebody calls another person “elitist” because they are selective and didn’t want to interact with them, I cringe. Seriously, shut the fuck up. People claim to be mature adults on this website yet they harass people for having boundaries.

For some reason tumblr loves to exclusively suggest posts on my dash that make me want to go off. To wit:

Libraries exist with basically two purposes: access and preservation. Access and preservation are always at odds because, put plainly, the best way to preserve something is to lock it away in a climate controlled environment without light pollution and don’t touch it. All use, no matter how careful or benign, causes damage.

Different sorts of libraries may fall on one side or the other of these purposes–for example, a branch public library probably cares a lot more about access than they do about preservation, but a special collections library may care more about preservation than they do about access. Put another way: some libraries (and librarians) see themselves as providing immediate access to cultural resources for those living right now and some libraries (and librarians) see themselves as preserving cultural resources for future generations.

The Library of Congress is, among other things, a mandatory deposit institution for copyright registration. That means that if you publish a book in the US, you are most certainly going to deposit two copies at the LoC. WHY? Because the LoC is primarily a repository for preservation, not for access. Their primary goal is to preserve the cultural record for future generations. Because they see this as their primary goal, there are restrictions on use of their materials.

All restrictions of use will seem to one group or another to be arbitrary–because systems that value one kind of use over another necessarily privilege (typically elitist) forms of reading. Why is scholarly research a more valid basis for access than reading for pleasure, et c.?

These issues become more apparent when the material in question is not itself seen as being by or for a privileged group: like comic books. But really, universal restrictions on materials regardless of their origin or intended purpose is meant to be egalitarian, a way for librarians to say “Who am I to judge which cultural materials will be important in the future? Why shouldn’t this comic book be treated as just as relevant and powerful an object as a medieval manuscript or first edition of Robert Frost or whatever the hell else we might venerate now?”
