animelo summer live 2012

the evolution (?) of Natsuiro over the years

This was pointed out before elsewhere, but the accompanying gifs were timed too fast to really show anything, so here goes.

Natsuiro Egao de 1, 2, Jump! has been a staple of Love Live concerts, having made an appearance each time, and was also the song performed during the first appearance of μ’s on Animelo Summer Live. During the lines “このたった一度の季節を探していたんだ” and “真夏のせいだよ 1, 2, Jump!”, the center position in the choreography temporarily transitions from Nico to Maki, or from Soramaru to Pile when performed live.

Interestingly, from the 4th Live onwards, rather than with them stepping around each other for this transition, the switch in center position is punctuated with a high five, as shown below:-

First Live: 19 February 2012

Animelo Summer Live 2012: August 26 2012 (don’t mind the Chinese subs, ripping from a Chinese source was most convenient for me at the time instead of downloading the whole thing)

New Year Live: 3 January 2013

3rd Live: 16 June 2013

4th Live: 8 and 9 February 2014

(Day 2)

5th Live: 31 January 2015 and 1 February 2015 (Natsuiro was only performed on Day 2)

[there was a high five, but no gifs here until the DVD/BD is out…]

Who came up with this new move, I wonder? To me, it makes the transition look cleaner, and eliminates the likelihood of the centers bumping into each other as they switch around.
