Why are other animals so willing to sit on/interact with capybaras? Is it just that they're docile herbivores who are large enough to frighten predators, won't eat animals, and tend to move slowly?
Your guess is as good as mine. I think this is the one question I may never be able to find a good answer to. I’ve seen it in zoos in mixed species exhibits (mostly reptiles) but the staff can’t give me an explanation. All the photos we see can’t be staged. But as to why other animals are inclined to get on top of them and why they allow it? Nobody I know has a clue.
