angle records

I was reading @foxx-queen‘s amazing General Danvers AU fanfic “stardust”, in which everyone has daemons, and I got really attached to the idea, and then I just had to draw a scene she told me about them snuggling in their sleep and their daemons doing the same.

Yuri on Ice BD choreography commentary translation - Volume 3

I’m alive… There were too many things this month, I can’t believe we’re already halfway through. Anyway, finally, here’s the full translation of the choreography commentary from the BD/DVD vol.3. The commentary is by Kenji Miyamoto & Mitsurou Kubo, as usual. This time it’s Minami’s FS, Phichit’s SP, Leo’s SP and Chris’ SP. More programs so of course it’s longer than usual.

Notes:
-It’s two people talking, not a written interview, so expect them to hop from one subject to another within the same sentence… Even if it sounds a bit unconnected at times, that’s how they said it.
-I still arranged it a little to make it easier to understand as written material, by removing lots of “ehm” “uuhm” “you know” “yes” (I especially removed all instances where someone says “yes” in the middle of the other speaking) and fumbled words.
-Amusingly enough both their initials are KM/MK, but I used the surname initials so M is Miyamoto and K is Kubo.
-I put (LOL) when they’re laughing because otherwise some lines might sound serious while they’re actually joking.

***VERY IMPORTANT***
Do NOT use this translation for subtitles, in ANY way.
I don’t support the upload of bonuses contained in BDs/DVDs, as they are meant to be (as the word says) bonuses for the people who spent money to purchase them. If you like a series so much that you absolutely need to watch the bonus contents, please buy the BDs/DVDs.

Translation under the cut since it’s twice the usual length.

4CC - Musings (and last post about it... maybe)

Sorry Anon(s), I will answer all your questions (sooner or later), but I promised myself I would finish speaking about 4CC before first Junior World’s Competition and I never break a promise to myself (ahahahahhahaahhaha as if). Anyway, I postponed this post long enough, so here I am.

4CC, I was saying.

hi, just wanted to clarify, how are jump rotations calculated? I get that the body turns 360° per rotation, but how do the landings work? How do you tell the exact angle a skate leaves the ice and angle it lands so it's fully rotated? also, how can you tell a jump is underrotated if they are so fast (provided they skater stays on their feet)?

After a while you kind of just get a feel for it, but sometimes it can be very difficult to tell when a jump is underrotated, for experienced watchers and even the technical specialist. It can depend a lot on the camera angle used to record the jump. This is the (very) approximate path a skater’s blade takes on a triple jump that takes off backwards, with each rotation marked:

Each jump should land fully backwards or nearly so (within a quarter-rotation) in order to count as fully rotated. (Notice that jumps do not travel in a straight line, but travel on a curve in the same direction as the skater’s direction of rotation - counterclockwise, in this case.) It can be very hard to tell where exactly a skater’s blade hits the ice without slow-mo replays, so don’t worry if you can’t catch them in real time. Sometimes they’re even hard to catch in replays. Basically, if it looks like a skater’s blade turns too much on the ice when they land, the jump might have been underrotated.

I totally thought about the recording angle too! Haha! Or taking night pics last night and using them tonight instead.

Yeah, there are a lot of ways to cover and whatever people may think of Calvin and Oli, they have Louis’ back 100% :)

I wonder… What would this place be like ten years from now?

The Captains teaching their kids how to walk while their s/o is filming

This was sooo much fun to do because ugh videos of babys walking for the first time is so cute! Also this is long as hell, sorry if it’s too long. Tell me if it is and you’d like it to be shorter!

Shunsui Kyoraku:

Gently he set his daughter on the ground, her little hands in his. His s/o stood to the side with a video camera, filming each movement the girl and him made.

“Hinami, I’m going to let go. Now, promise daddy that you’ll walk on your own, okay?” The child gave a little shriek of happiness and he grinned. Slowly he let go of her hands.

She stood for a moment, then fell. He sighed and picked her up again. This went on for several minutes, his s/o laughing along with their daughter before finally she started walking through the grass. A wide grin came to both parents faces as they clapped and hugged their daughter.

Sui Feng:

She grinned widely at her son, shaking the small rattle he loved so much as he stood. Her s/o was recording and holding his hand, finally they let go and he started to walk towards Sui Feng.

“That’s it sweetie. I’ve got your rattle. Come get it from mommy!” She was so happy, he started walking towards her hurriedly.

Finally he got to her and she gave him the rattle, picking him up and holding him proudly as she praised him about how well he did.

Rojuro Otoribashi:

Rose’s pride and joy stood on the grass outside of his door, while he sat on the edge of his porch with his lovely s/o. He had already got his son to stand, now he just needed to get him to walk.

He’d been working on teaching him by singing too him. So he figured it’d work again. He started to play his guitar slowly, singing a quiet but happy song as he tried to coax him to walk towards him. Finally it worked and his son started walking. He got about half way before he fell down and just sat there, grinning at his dad as he sung.

Oh the joy he felt that he got his partner to record that moment.

Retsu Unohana:

She had spent many times trying to get her daughter to walk, so far all unsuccessful. She didn’t give up hope though. She knew she could get her to walk, it’d just take some time. Baby’s didn’t develop knee caps for a while and it was very possible her daughter had just taken some more time.

Retsu stood in her small living room, holding her daughters hands in her own and her partner standing across from her. “One foot at a time. Ready? Okay.” She whispered too her daughter, starting to walk with her before letting her go.

The little girl stood around for a minute before starting to make her own way to Retsu’s partner. That had to have been one of the proudest moments of her life so far.

Shinji Hirako:

His twins were leaning against a table in his office. His daughter Akemi was wearing a yellow dress and his son Hiroki wore a matching yellow shirt and grey pants. Shinji sat on the ground next to the coffee table and trying to coax them both to start walking while his partner sat on the other side of the table, a video camera sitting at an angle to record the entire family.

“Come on kids. Come to daddy. Come to daddy and we’ll play some games okay?” He grinned as some progress finally happened. Akemi made her way to him first. She stumbled a bit before plopping herself down in her fathers lap with a laugh.

Finally after more coaxing, Hiroki started to make his way to him, then made an abrupt turn and started heading for his partner. His partner smiled as Hiroki climbed onto their lap, causing Shinji to pout. “Momma’s/Daddy’s boy.” He mumbled, playing with Akemi.

Byakuya Kuchiki:

He was standing in the middle of the room, his son on the other side with his partner behind him recording. Renji and Rukia watched from the sidelines watching the young boy stumble around on the floor.

“Captain, why are we here?” Renji asked, staring at the raven haired man and his identical looking son on the floor.

“Watch.” Byakuya got onto his knees, sitting in front of his son and holding his hands out. “Come here.”

The child immediately responded, walking straight towards his father with a wabble about him. Everyone stared in amazement and grinned, clapping happily as the little boy fell into his fathers lap. Byakuya even smiled, hugging his son tightly.

Sajin Komamura:

His oldest daughter stood to the side, holding a camera as her parents tried to get her sister to walk. They were teaching her the best they could, but she wasn’t doing so well.

“Daddy, do you think she’ll be able to do it?” She asked, tilting her head as her baby sister attempted to stand.

“If we got you to do it, surely she can.” He teased, grinning at her as he went to his youngest and helped her stand. His oldest pouted, watching as her sister finally started to walk on her own.

Kensei Mugurama:

He frowned, his son sitting in the middle of the room with his two year old daughter.

“Daddy, what’s wrong?” She asked, walking over to him.

“I can’t get your brother to walk.” He muttered, watching the young silver-haired boy start to stand on his own.

Kensei perked up, and immediately grabbed his partner and the camera, forcing it into their hands and recording just as he started to walk. He grinned, pride flowing through him happily. At least he was able to get it on camera before his son fell on his butt.

Toshiro Hitsugaya:

His oldest child stood beside him, staring the youngest down. He watched as his son, Daisuke, played with his toys. Toshrio stood again, pulling his son Takumi to stand with him. Together they went and got Toshiro’s partner and a small camera.

Toshiro took Daisuke by the hand, standing him up and then quickly moving to the other side of the room. “Come to me, Daisuke.” He stood straight, watching with his arms crossed as his son started to slowly towards him.

He made it all the way too him before falling onto the fathers legs and giggling. Toshiro picked him up, smiling proudly at his son then at the camera. “We’ve got ourselves a little champion here.” He chuckled.

Kenpachi Zaraki:

His oldest son stood outside with his sister, smiling and hugging and playing with her. She grinned and giggled. Finally Kenpachi stood up from his seat and grabbed a camera. “___ come here.” He saw Yachiru bound up to his kids, plopping herself down with them and playing.

Grinning, he asked his son and Yachiru to step aside, he was going to get Haruna to stand and walk. His partner started to record the two, Kenpachi setting his daughter on the ground. He slowly let her hands go, making sure she wouldn’t fall onto the hard ground.

His partner stood a few feet away, holding the camera and trying to get their daughter to come to them. Finally she walked towards her grinning.
“She’s gonna be strong as hell.” Kenpachi grinned.

Mayuri Kurostuchi:

Confusion was written all over his face. His son had been born finally, and he was so happy. He had someone to carry on his family legacy. But the problem was that he couldn’t get him to walk.

He stood, rubbing his fingers against his chin. “___ what do you think we should do to teach him?” He asked his partner, who shrugged in return.

Finally he got onto the ground behind his son and stood him up, nudging his feet forward once at a time while his partner recorded. He started to walk on his own a bit, a slightly wabbly one, but then he fell down.

“Well, it’s a work in progress.” Mayuri mumbled.

Jushiro Ukitake:

Jushiro stood happily, Shunsui sitting behind him on the porch while his lovely partner and lieutenant recorded. His daughter was learning to walk, and he didn’t want to miss a minute of it.

“Ukitake, do you think she’ll walk on her own this time?” Shunsui asked, tipping his hat back and watching the little girl play with the grass curiously.

“I have my full faith in Emi. She’s just like ___.” He smiled even more, if it was possible, as his partner went to Emi and picked her up, standing her on her feet.

At least, they thought she’d stand. She kept jerking her feet back when she touched the grass. It took a moment to realize she didn’t like the feeling of the grass and they moved her to the porch. Jushiro held out a piece of candy, coaxing her to come to him with it.

Finally getting her to walk some, Jushiro quit teasing her and went too her, letting her have the piece of candy as he grinned. “We’ll keep trying.”

I watched the video clip where knetz claimed UP10TION’s Wooshin was inappropriately touching Somi and I’m sorry, it didn’t look like he was intentionally touching her at all. The first time it looked like he was just gesturing for her to move back and the second time, it was clear he wanted to do that handshake thing with her. Nevertheless, he used that particular hand to gesture a lot. And because of the angle of the video, there’s even a possibility the back of his hand didn’t even come in contact with her at all, and Somi moved back so he wouldn’t accidentally hit his hand against her. Even the PDs have mentioned that neither of them reported feeling uncomfortable and that fans shouldn’t speculate based on awkward camera angles.

For the record, I am neither a fan of Somi nor UP10TION so I am not blindly defending.
