Her eyes fluttering, Caroline slowly became aware of her surroundings. The distant roar of an engine, a lolling motion like a-
“What the hell?”
She jerked, sitting up from her prone position on a leather couch. The puffy white monstrosity took up half the private jet’s cabin, leaving just enough room for the two chairs facing it. One was occupied by a familiar face with a menacing grin, and Caroline’s stomach roiled with the uncertain danger that expression held.
“Considering the last thing I remember is walking home from work, I assume this a kidnapping,” she thought out loud. Met only with a silent stare, Caroline refused to be cowed despite the lack of escape routes from a plane in flight. There was no doubt in her mind she’d lose a physical fight, so it was probably best to resist the urge to drop her fangs.
When in doubt, kill them with kindness.
She squared her shoulders and took a fortifying breath. “Care to tell me where we’re going?”
