The Self Reflection Spread– used for those who want to understand the cognitive behavior of a situation and use therapeutic insights to correct behavior associated with negative core beliefs or positive core beliefs. The querent will see how giving power to good and bad thoughts will run out, as well as what will actually happen in the Timeline. The self-view and soul-view are clues in determining whether the querent is being rational or irrational. The false and true perception add weight and reinforcement to the negative and positive side. You may find people or things in the perceptions the querent are right on about or just pure wrong about. There is potential to interpret self-denial or blame in the perception cards.

List of angelic choirs and hierarchy for writing and roleplaying, brought to you by Bella

Real talk and probably unpopular opinion: TV shows about angels and demons are entertaining, maybe (I wouldn’t know,) but don’t really seem to adhere to the classic lore. This is a brief overview of the angel hierarchy with short descriptions. I might do a follow-up post that goes more in depth, but for now, have the basics. Even though there are some discrepancies among scholars and archivists, these are mostly agreed upon. (Note: Obviously you do not have to adhere to these with your characters, but guidelines/inspiration never hurts!)

The Spheres

There are three ranks, called spheres. Each sphere contains three choirs. Starting from the bottom:

Third sphere: Angels. These are the closest to humans and often are depicted as humanoid, sometimes even just humans with wings. They act as liaisons between the divine and the mundane. ‘Guardian angels’ sometimes fall under this umbrella, as do the angels that psychics and mediums call upon. Angels are the bottom ranks of the hierarchy.

Third sphere: Archangels. These are the messengers. Most famously, Gabriel delivered the message of Jesus’ coming and conception to the Virgin Mother. They also act as commanders of legions and are in constant battle with demons. (Will cover the archangels more thoroughly in another post bc I love them.)

Third sphere: Principalities. These act as 'guardian angels,’ but over entire cities and kings. They can be divided into two sections: administrators and assistants. Admins (as I will call them) guide the rulers and countries more firmly, while assistants are more of a supporting role to their charges. They usually have a crown and scepter and sometimes inspire art or science ideas. They are the highest ranked of the third sphere.

Second sphere: Powers. They are the nemesis of fallen angels and prevent them from overtaking the world. They also manage the movement of the planets and stars to make sure all that stuff stays in working order so God doesn’t have to fuss with it. They are often shown in armor and with various forms of weaponry, like soldiers. They are also considered record keepers of human (and pre-human) history, and were designed specifically to be loyal only to God. A common speculation is that no Power has ever be cast out or fallen, due to this design of theirs (although some say Satan was a Power, so whatever, you do you.) They are the lowest ranked of the second sphere, but outrank the entire third sphere.

Second sphere: Virtues. These deliver blessing directly from god unto the earth and its inhabitants. These are often called 'miracles.’ They bring courage and can help with acts of selfless heroism. They don’t have a ton of lore about them, probably because you can only grant so many miracles before it becomes boring as shit. Some say they govern the elements of nature too (hippies, maybe) but that’s more interesting than miracles to me, at least.

Second sphere: Dominions. They regulate all angels below them, from virtues to lower-rung angels. Basically the departmental managers. God (or Seraphim, as per God) gives them orders and they tel the lower ranks to which the orders apply. They very rarely bother to mingle with humans, since that’s grunt work. Also probably my favorite design out of all the angels, since they look like tall hot humans with huge wings and glowing halos on their heads or sword hilts. After this, we get into the more Eldritch designs with the angels. Dominions are the highest ranked of the third and second spheres.

First sphere: Thrones. Literally just a wheel of eyes and fire. Some Christian theologians chickened out with this one a little and said they are actually elderly men listening adoringly to God’s message, but I prefer the whole 'spinning wheels of flaming eyes’ interpretation. They carry out God’s big decisions directly. They are the lowest ranked of the first sphere, but still outrank even the dominions.

First sphere: Cherubim. They pull fiery chariots and carry God’s throne. They have four wings covered in eyes and four faces (a man, a lion, an eagle, and an ox.) Literally terrifying to see. They were also assigned to guard the gates of Eden once Adam and Eve fucked up and got barred from it. NOT to be confused with the fat baby angels in art. Those are called putti.

First sphere: Seraphim. Highest ranked of all the angels and the closest to God. Basically God’s hype men. Always singing songs about him and radiating pure light and shit. They balance and regulate all of the heavens.  Some say they are made of light, some say they have six wings and cover their faces and feet with two pairs while using the last to fly.

Of the nine choirs, no one can seem to decide from where Satan fell. Some say he was a Seraph (along with Beelzebub,) some say he was a Cherub, maybe a Power, whatever. Azazel was also considered a cherub by some, but an archangel (lowercase A) by others. A lot of the specific angels are open to interpretation. Again, these are a loose guideline: if you feel you have a different source of information or you disagree with it, that’s totally fine! You do you.

I wrote so much in the tags of the traod post that it got cut lmao

But really, the injustice this game gets saddens me. It isn’t that bad of a game as some people want to make it seen, there are certainly worst games out there that gets more praise. As I was saying in the tags, we have the most dark and deep plot of any TR game combined with the best Lara personality; cynical, bitchy and cold but still with a warm heart who truly cares about her beloved ones. Add a cool dude half angel with psychic powers (and they fall for each other and there is A LOT of sexual tension) I’m so blessed by my first otp. And top it the OST is just magnificent 👌

So yeah, it’s so sad to see your fave game in such a state, hated by most of the fandom who honestly aren’t informed of the issues around it and haven’t even played it. So I feel like reminding that is better than that for those who despise it. And for people who aren’t very familiar with the saga, if you want a mature TR game, please give it a chance, trust me <3

Intuitive “Venn Diagram” Spread– this spread is quite simple, but powerful in showing analysis between sides, people, qualities, time frames, beliefs, and relationships. The sides can be expanded to create 3 by 3 grids or 2 by 3 grids, but the concept of reading them as one energy pool remains. The cards are shuffled and pulled in any order, top to bottom and left to right, but in parts I, II, and III. For example, you could ask if your friend would go to a concert with you, between two people who may have lied to you to discover the truthful one, if you should move to I or II, what Fear is saying and what Love is saying, even asking about relationships between people, living or deceased.

Here’s an Example Spread.

DECONSTRUCTING STPD: ODD BELIEFS

THE PARTS SO FAR:

Ideas of Reference

Odd beliefs (you are here)

Odd perceptual experiences

Odd thinking/speech

Paranoia/Suspicion

Inappropriate/Constricted Affect

Odd Behavior/Appearance

Lack of Close Friends + Extreme Social Anxiety

Odd beliefs, magical thinking, bizarre occupations or fantasies–what does it all mean? This symptom of STPD was probably the hardest for me to understand. It’s vague, to say the least. This is going to be long–get ready.

Odd beliefs are basically believing–to a certain extent–things that aren’t culturally normal.

Magical thinking is basically feeling that the world around you has some element of magic in it, seeking out evidence for it, and believing (again, to a certain extent) that it’s real.

In teens, the more commonly experienced side of this symptom is bizarre preoccupations or fantasies.

Preoccupations would be: heavily researching a ‘strange’ subject for your culture, often thinking about particular strange things, etc.

Fantasies would be putting yourself in a world or daydream in which things are much more magical than reality. Your thoughts wander to these fantasies. Perhaps you are convinced that some part of you is magical. Maybe you truly think that forest near your home is filled with magical creatures.

The best way to explain this symptom is to give examples. For instance:

Odd beliefs/magical thinking (they often go hand in hand)
-believing you are the long lost prince of a foreign land
-believing a relative isn’t related to you, but is there to watch your every move
-believing your dog is actually your guardian angel
-believing you are psychic/can read minds/etc

Bizarre fantasies/preoccupations
-researching the occult
-researching conspiracy theories
-fantasizing that you were once a mermaid
-wondering if, perhaps, your teacher is actually a demon hiding in human skin (genuinely, not in the my-teacher-is-super-mean-and-they-must-be-satan way)

Again, people with STPD only believe their odd beliefs to a certain extent. If they TRULY believed they were the queen of england, it would be a full-blown delusion. People with STPD can recognize and doubt their own beliefs.

The key part of this symptom is that is influences your behavior. Most people might be somewhat interesting in ~weird~ things, but generally speaking, they won’t spend hours thinking, researching, or talking about it. They won’t have specific rituals or actions to make sure nothing bad will happen to them as a result of this interest. It’s like how people are interested in freak shows–they’ll go to them once or twice, but they won’t go home and read every book about freak shows they can find.

Here are some examples of my own odd beliefs and how they influence my life. They’re not as extreme as the examples I gave previously.

-“people will see me in their mind’s eye if I think about them at all, so I mustn’t think of them while I’m doing [insert embarrassing act]”

-“if I sleep on my back, I’ll wake up in a coffin position. The next night, I will be killed by an unknown spirit. I mustn’t fall asleep on my back.”

-“I’m the prince of Russia. Therefore, I should learn Russian, and be sure to look out for signs of adoption.”

-“Bad things will happen if I turn my back to a room. Better not do that. Especially if it’s empty or filled with strangers.”

-“I used to be a mermaid, but I dried up after a storm and lost my memory.” (This one doesn’t really affect me at all, but I thought it was worth mentioning.)

Other examples are superstition–thinking, for example, that in order to have a good date you MUST wear your special choker. HOWEVER, if you don’t wear your choker and the date goes well, you might reconsider your superstition. See why it’s so confusing?

Lastly, these symptoms aren’t always constant or the topic of thought. Due to the nature of STPD itself, odd beliefs might change, preoccupations might die down. I find that after a few months/years, I’ve stopped believing certain things and have developed new superstitions. There are even some weeks where I have no odd thoughts at all. Sometime, the beliefs recycle themselves–the one where I won’t think about someone if I’m, say, getting dressed has been around since I was 9, but i stopped believing it for awhile and it started up again recently.

Culturally, some things are not ‘odd.’ In America, believing that certain things around you are signs from God isn’t an odd belief. Believing in aliens/conspiracy theories is, though. If it isn’t normal for your culture, then it could possibly fit the criteria for this symptom.

TLDR; odd beliefs are things you almost 100% believe in, but may doubt when given reason to. They have to go against cultural norms and influence your behavior in some ways to meet the criteria of this symptom. However, having odd beliefs doesn’t make you schizotypal.

True Story - The Problem with Mediumship Readings

(Names, etc. slightly altered to protect privacy)

Me: There’s a young woman present with dark hair, blue eyes, and she’s giving me the name “Sally.” Her relation to you is a side-energy, like cousin, or friend.

Client: I have a deceased cousin named Jennifer. Maybe it’s her.

Me: *a little bit thrown, listens to Client describe Jennifer* I don’t think this is Jennifer.

Client: I also have a deceased cousin named Sally.

Me: Wait…………………….you have a deceased cousin named Sally who matches the description I gave you?

Client: Yes.

Me: *dies inside*

Friends, this is more than just a story about how I almost burst into tears during a reading. It’s a bigger problem than you might imagine. Yeah, there’s a little exasperation in this story for me, but at the end of the day it’s not my client’s fault that this happened. I’m not upset with them. It’s not any of my client’s faults when this happens, and it’s not even 100% my fault.

It’s strange. I can be as clear as crystal when describing a deceased person or Spirit in a reading, and still, because the world-at-large doesn’t understand how mediumship works or how to receive a reading, this happens time and time again.

It’s not normal yet (yet! So help me I will make mediumship normal!), and so people don’t know how to walk around in this “new” territory.

This is such a problem that it actually scares me off from doing readings for people.

Imagine someone asked you to make them a pizza, you make them a pizza, and they look at it and go: Oh! Nice Sandwich! I’m going to enjoy the hell out of this sandwich.

This is real-life mediumship, and sometimes it’s a train-wreck. So, I’m going to create a comprehensive video and blog explaining everything I possibly can about how to receive a mediumship reading and what to expect. If you’ve got questions related to that which you’d like me to answer - let me know!

Ever had a “bad” reading? Ever have a reading that doesn’t make sense to you? Got some Spirit curiosity?
