Curator’s Monday 136

Thierry De Cordier (b.1954, Belgium)

Thierry De Cordier is a philosopher, performer, sculptor, writer and poet. As a young artist, he lived a nomadic existence that caused him to reflect upon architecture as a model for social relations. For a long time, his garden was a substitute and a metaphor for the world. Later, he turned his back to the world to look at the sea. Thierry De Cordier is an existential artist who tries to understand the world through his own experience. His work is the result of a personal quest: a search for his own identity, his relationship to the world, and his role within society. His work, in which the infinitely small is reflected in the infinitely big, develops organically from his inner psyche. In the last few decades, Thierry De Cordier has dedicated himself to painting. Recurrent themes include mountains, seascapes and desolate landscapes that are partly inspired by the vast, black and white topographical paintings made in China during the 17th and 18th century, yet capture the essential qualities of the landscape and light of Northern Europe. The grey skies and ink black seas of his monochromatic paintings evoke melancholy, with the most dramatic scenes being those in which waves and mountainous cliffs fuse together to embody the forces of nature within a single primal image.

Signs as perfume? :)

Yessssss. Also here are general scents associated with the signs.

Aries: While you may think this sounds more like Leo’s thing Fame by Lady GaGa has bold notes that really match with Aries personality.

Taurus: Floral, fresh, and sensual DKNY.

Gemini: The light scent of Clean Air.

Cancer: Go for the practical yet lovely scent of Clinique Happy.

Leo: A combined fruity, citrus, and floral smell goes with Leo’s cheerful personality, Valentino ‘Valentina’ Eau de Parfume.

Virgo: Bring out another side of Virgo with Obsession by Calvin Klein.

Libra: Keeping it classic and feminine with Juicy Couture.

Scorpio: Sensual and bold with Guilty by Gucci.

Sagittarius: Keep it more exotic with Gucci ‘Bamboo’ Perfume.

Capricorn: Of course Chanel COCO.

Aquarius: A confident and intelligent scent such as Jimmy Choo.

Pisces: The soft scent of Angel by Thierry Mugler.

So it’s very late and my roommate E and I have been talking about perfumes.

I’ve been using DKNY’s Be Delicious since forever, but I wear Alien by Thierry Mugler on nights out and I always get compliments. I use Daisy by Marc Jacobs too (because my dad keeps buying it), but it’s a very meh scent, as in “oh, it smells nice, but that’s it”. I also enjoy Victoria’s Secret fragrances, even if they are a bit overpowering (Berry Kiss is my favorite).

(I wish I could like Chanel No. 5 and Burberry perfumes, but they are just too “mom” for me.)

I read somewhere that wearing a masculine perfume on dates made men find you really attractive, in a “why do guys only ask me out when I have a boyfriend kind of way”, so I usually wear Daisy (because it’s a really fresh and simple scent) and then I spray a bit of Polo Blue by Ralph Lauren on a cotton ball and lightly dab it on my skin. I get compliments on my smell EVERY SINGLE TIME, even from POTs.

E just started using Molecule 01 by Escentric Molecules, which is like the coolest thing ever, because it adapts to the chemicals on your skin. It’s magical. As in strangers coming up to her just to ask what she’s wearing kind of magical.

E also has this theory that boys love the smell of vanilla, so she either wears Amor Amor Forbidden Kiss by Cacharel or Angel by Thierry Mugler on nights out or when she goes on dates. And she also has this Victorio & Lucchino perfume called Luz that smells fenomenal, but I think it’s discontinued.

So anyway, what do you girls like to smell like?

anonymous asked:

What are your favorite beauty products? I'm especially searching for makeup products to help enhance my pallor and I'm also on a quest to discover some perfumes of a darker persuasion.

Prepare for an onslaught of clicky-links! Right now I’m using a lot of Sheisedo sunscreen, Sweet Bee Magic honey/beeswax/olive oil cream, Weleda Skin Food, and jojoba oil to remove my makeup.

In terms of makeup, I’ve become a big fan of Kat von D’s powder foundation (lightly dusted on my face with a kabuki brush), and MUFE’s Aqua Brow is my absolute favorite brow product EVER. Aromaleigh’s Drama Red, Jolie, and Petunia (which is discontinued, but Bloom is supposed to be similar) are my current eye shadows of choice, and then NYX Doll Eyes mascara. And whatever dark pomegranate blood wine lipstick I have to hand: Inglot 175, Kat von D Homegirl, OCC Black Metal Dahlia, and so on.

BUT REMEMBER! You don’t have to be pale to be a goth! Don’t think you need to hide whatever your skin tone is, just in the name of darker fashion, and if someone tells you that “goth = pale skin”, feel free to laugh derisively at them and tell them your Auntie Jilli at Gothic Charm School says they’re WRONG.

As for perfumes of a darker persuasion: have you browsed around Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab? Other than that, I don’t have any suggestions, because I personally wear a mix of chocolate oil and Angel by Thierry Mugler.

(Long post is wordy and full of clicky-links! But also helpful, I hope!)

Конфет-привет: Selection Excellence - 5
