okay, so you're a writer - and you're following me - thanks.... how do you choose like pov/tense to write in? like I have this story that I'm supposed to be writing it honestly could be written in 1st or 3rd person. 3rd would catch all of the essential details, everything about the world. 1st would make it more intimate and raw - which I'm looking for. And I have worked with combining the two - but it has been too artsy to always comprehend. and it should be a novel. I just don't know.

I don’t mean to sound dense, but I don’t think the POV should dictate how much detail is used- rather, if you are a writer who enjoys fleshing out the most intricate nooks of your world, you can find a way left or right. Personally, I almost always find myself writing in the 1st person, but that’s because I rely on personal experience for almost everything I write, so it happens naturally. At my heart, I’m a filthy internal anarchist and I’d rather bleed everywhere than route my words through segments and regulations. My advice to you would be, if you think it needs to be intimate and raw and thats how you write when using 1st person, use 1st person and just work on adding more detail in your 1st person writing. I actually just posted a writing exercise a few posts ago that should help with that, if you’re looking for a way to get better.
