My newest creation is a precursor to five paintings I’ll be showing at Sea Affaire in July. Artist Solace Wonder has chosen a fine group of artists to accompany his second round at The Phirana Shop in Seattle and I’ve taken the opportunity to dive into shells, nutibranches and sea slugs which are beautifully strange and captivating creatures.

This piece is available for purchase at If you’d like a sneak peak of the paintings I’ll be creating for the show, email me at and I’ll add you to my collector’s preview.

Sagittarius: Fire sign, mutable, ruled by Jupiter.

Sagittarius is the bridge between man and beast, the beast portion of my painting being represented by fiery wings. The archer is a learned healer who forms a bridge between heaven and earth.

“And you see that every time i made a further division, up came more boxes based on these divisions until I had a huge pyramid of boxes. Finally you see that while I was splitting the cycle up into finer and finer pieces, I was also building a structure. This structure of concepts is formally called a hierarchy and since ancient times has been a basic structure for all Western knowledge.” ~Pirsig, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

My alchemy series is now on view at True Love Art Gallery in Seattle through May 10th.

The fire element is associated with the sun which, in alchemy, influences the heart. Adorning the heart are orange blossoms, a flower governed by the sun.

Libra: air sign, cardinal, ruled by Venus.

In many of my astrology pieces, I have hidden symbols within textures of the piece. Can you spot the symbol for Venus? I chose a moth as the representation of Libra because of the balanced, symmetrical quality of its wings.

The symbol of Libra’s scales is based on the Scales of Justice held by Themis, the Greek personification of divine law and custom. Libra was known in Babylonian astronomy as the Claws of The Scorpion.
