I can see people’s auras… and it’s a curse.

by A10A10A10

Yes, I can see people’s auras.

And I hate saying it so bluntly. It makes me sound like some hack psychic who fakes the ability as a means of exploitation and a paycheck. I’ve never made money from my ability. I’ve never taken advantage of it. And, until now, I’ve never spoken of it to anybody.

But I really do see them, and I’m starting to view it as more of a curse. I have a reason for typing this out and I assure you, there isn’t a happy ending.

Hey what if instead of writing Lance as the only omega in the pack of alphas he’s the only alpha in a pack of omegas?

Like, before Voltron, Lance was the leader of his own little pack.

-

Lance met Hunk in school. They still shared a room, which was a surprised and a confusion. People thought Hunk was an alpha thanks to his size, so his papers were wrong and he was assigned to Lance.

It was quite a shock for both of them. Hunk was clearly uncomfortable and Lance didn’t know what to do to help the omega relax. It was problem, because all the rooms were full and they couldn’t reassigned them.

The first few days were… Something. Omegas were cruel to Hunk because he wasn’t as cute of delicate as them, and alphas often told Lance how lucky he was for having an omega there to fuck.

Of course, Hunk recived the worst of it and Lance started feeling guilty. Hunk seemed like a really cool guy, and didn’t deserve to go through this. So, he went agaisnt the alphas that were talking shit agaisnt them and after that he talked with the omegas who were taunting Hunk.

Things got so much better after that and after hearing from someone else what Lance had done for him, Hunk stoped avoiding him and started speding more time with him.

They became the best of friends and it was perfect. Then they became closer and started sharing a bed. They didn’t realise then, because it was just the two of them… But they were acting like a pack. The often scented each other and felt the need to protect Hunk from everyone.

Then Pidge arrived to the Garrison. There was something about her that Lance hated it. It was her beta smell, it was… Off. But Hunk had a soft spot for her, for some reason. And if Hunk trusted Pidge, then Lance could. They befriend her, since nobody else did. Pidge was kind to Hunk, and Lance appreciated that.

Hunk adored Pidge and those two became best friends. Lance was ok with, he was happy that Hunk had more friends. Pidge could understand the things that Hunk loved, and it was perfect.

Slowly, Lance opened to her, and without realising she was part of his little pack and protected from everyone else like he did with Hunk.

It was clear for everyone in the Garrison that they were pack, even when Pidge wasn’t aware of it.

Still, Pidge had a mission. And she couldn’t let them distract her from it. She often reject them and tried to be on her own. She hurt Hunk and Lance with this, but they never complained about it. Hunk thought she was busy and Lance gave her space she wanted.

Voltron happened time after that. They followed Pidge to the roofs because Lance was worried and curious. One thing lead to another and suddenly, they were running away from the Garrison in Keith’s bike, and omega Lance used to have a rivalry with and Shiro, an amazing alpha Lance admired and thought dead.

They ended up in a shack in the middle of the desert talking about ‘Voltron’ and the next thing Lance knows he’s flying a Blue Lion and aliens are real and they are now paladins, protectors of the universe.

It’s to much to swallow, but Lance is willing to stand up and fight for what’s right.

The three of them, Lance, Pidge and Hunk, keep acting like a pack. Shiro and Keith are like a different pack even when Lance makes his best efforts to include them (even if that means stop being the leader of his pack and giving the leadership to Shiro, who has a bigger rank than him) they don’t seem to comfortable with them.

Allura are Coran are easy. They don’t have dynamics, so they spend time with both packs. But it isn’t an ideal situation, really. Lance can feel his alpha side wanting to fight for power and territory, even when the only thing he wants is to everyone to get along.

Things change when Pidge tells everyone about her real dynamic and to be honest, Lance is surprised but at the same time it isn’t. Everything makes sense to him now, and to prove Pidge he’s not mad at her for hiding the truth from him, he scents her for real this time. He kisses and nibbles her neck. He gets a wiff of her real scent under the beta-fake one. It’s like vanilla, and Lance loves it.

Pidge melts in his arms and purss happily. Then Shiro clears his throat and speaks, telling everyone the truth about his dynamic and revealing that him, just like Pidge, is an omega.

That was something Lance was not expecting. Shiro, the perfect Prime Alpha that everyone talked about. An omega. Amazing, really. They were all waiting for Lance’s reaction. Shiro was cleary tense, and Keith looked ready to attack. Hunk and Pidge were grabbing Lance from both sides, wary.

“So, you are an omega…”

“Yes.”

“And you fooled the whole Garrison into believing you were alpha prime.”

“…Yes.”

“Dude… That’s gold!!” Everyone jumps and looks at Lance in disbelief. He looked genuinely happy and curious about Shiro’s dynamic. The older omega relaxed and smiled, things didn’t go as wrong as he thought. “Wait… This means… Both of you are on supressants?”

Suddenly, there was silence again. Everyone was looking at both omegas with worried and Lance’s expression was one of anger.

“Well, I used to be… When I was on Earth. But my omega scent hasn’t return, so I guess the Galra gave me something.”

“What about you, Pidge?”

“Well–”

“Taking something that covers your scent is one thing, but blocking your dynamic? Do you know how dangerous supresants are?!”

Pidge whined and Shiro looked ashamed. Lance sighed.

“I want both of you to go to Coran and ask him to check on you hormone levels and give you something to counter the supresants effects.”

After that things on the ship got so much better. Without Shiro and Pidge pretending to be something they weren’t, they found a new balance in the team.

Lance started spending more time with Shiro. His omegas new Lance was only trying to make him feel comfortable around him and like that, to invite him little by little to his pack. Shiro was a bit obvlious to Lance’s intentions to be honest, but let the alpha be with him.

Lance was different. He was loud and confident like most alphas, but he was caring and sweet to his omegas. He took care of Hunk and Pidge and never tried to use his alpha voice to force them do things they didnt want to and tried to take over the position as the head of Voltron.

Shiro got closer to Lance without realising. He found himself one day wanting to invite the alpha to his nest. Of course, he felt embarrased to only think about it and instead of talking about it with Lance he stole one the alphas t-shirts and sleep with it.

Of course, Lance finds about this and it only warms his heart when he finds Shiro in the couch sleeping with shirt. When Shiro wakes up, the alpha is sitting besides him playing with his hair. The omega blushes like crazy and tries to explain everything to Lance but he only chuckles and tells him there’s nothing to worry about.

It’s a matter of days after that he scents Shiro and becomes an official part of his pack.

Keith was more… Difficult to approach. The reason Lance went for Shiro frist, was because he thought if Shiro joined, Keith would follow easily.

… He was wrong.

He was stubborn, and when Shiro joined Lance he only felt left behind. It took a lot of effort from Lance to make him understand he wasn’t trying to take Shiro away from him or something like that.

Lance didn’t know how to deal with Keith, to be honest. The omega was something else, really. He liked to to fight, and didn’t give a fuck about Lance’s position he was ready to fight him in any moment.

Lance wasn’t sure if he liked it or hated it.

Keith avoided Lance, and even growled at him everytime he tried getting close. Lance was frustrated, all of his omegas could see how much it was hurting the alpha not to be able to reach Keith.

It seems like an impossible tasks, but before Lance can give up, a mission go wrong.

They were inside of a Galra ship. Everything was going smoothly when an alarms started ringing. They were caught and had to go to their lions quickly before the reinforcements arrived.

Before Lance could reach his lions, all of them heard a horrible scream through the halls.

An omega.

His omega.

Keith.

Lance ran and ignored everyone. If Keith was scared enough to let out an omega cry, it means whatever thing he is happening is bad. Really bad.

When he gets there he finds a big Galra over Keith, doing— Terrible things. Lance goes feral and gets rid of the Galra that’s hurting Keith. The omega is crying and a whimpering mess, and the alpha in his wild state of mind only manages to carry him to his lion and let Blue fly them to the castle.

It takes a while for both of them to leave the Blue Lion. Keith clinged to Lance trying to feel safe and the alpha kissed and licked his scent glands until the only thing he could smell was himself on Keith.

They went to the pods after that, since Lance was also badly hurt from the fight. When the pod opened, Keith hugged him and thanked him for everything.

He didn’t need to say anything, Keith was part of them now.

Putting Lipstick On A Pig

by reddit user Pippinacious

Except for the whole murder thing, Courtney James seemed like a lovely young woman. She was bright, articulate, a dedicated college student and well liked waitress at a popular restaurant.

I met her when she was sitting in an interrogation room at the precinct. She was a bit on the larger side, dressed conservatively in pastel colors and minimal makeup, and when I came in, she introduced herself with a polite smile, as if we were meeting for a job interview as opposed to a police investigation. She had declined to have an attorney present, so I got right to business.

Chocobro Relationship Headcanons:

Ignis Scientia–

SFW. (I think.)

Muffled screaming.

  • Where do I even start with this one?
  • The first time you saw Ignis, you were in the middle of having a nervous breakdown amongst a sea of sickeningly expensive clothing.
  • It was a week until your extremely rich and snooty boss’s attendence required wedding and you still hadn’t been able to find anything to wear to it. Her nagging was never-ending. She kept insisting that anything you already owned wasn’t nearly good enough, and that if you showed up in any of it she’d see to it that you never showed your face at the company again blah blah blah.
  • You’d been saving every bit of your paychecks that you could spare ever since the wedding was announced, cursing yourself for accepting a job in a place that was entirely too lavish for someone such as yourself. Growing up in a rather poor household left you ignorant when it came to these things. Just looking into the store made your blood pressure rise. When you realized how many types of fabrics actually existed, and that different occasions meant certain ones were frowned upon? Your soul left your body.
  • Really, does it matter? Do there have to be so many of them? Why are they named such ridiculous things, you can’t even pronounce this one and language was your major in school. Oh Six, you hadn’t even thought about colors yet, how are you going to li-
  • Ignis saw you pacing– heard your quiet fretting and didn’t think twice before swooping in to assist you. You jumped a good ten feet into the air when his voice interrupted your thoughts, and when you turned to look at him all of the overlapping voices in your head just hushed.
  • Ignis was way more help than the people who actually worked there, taking the time to explain everything he could about what seemed to be the best options, and even helped you choose a color. It was a little hard to listen to him at times, due to the fact that your brain kept wiping itself clean just to repeat the word “wow” over and over again bc who was this guy? How was he real?
  • As luck would have it, it was just the day after the dreaded wedding that you bumped into him again at the market. He stood and listened patiently while you struggled not to drop all of the produce in your hands and thanked him profusely for the help.
  • Two days after this, you passed by each other in town. The next week you reached for the same tin of coffee at the grocery store. And thus began a really long winded series of coincidences that half-way convinced you he was your soul mate or something.
  • But Ignis was a rather difficult egg to crack. He was so, so busy all of the time with his Royal Responsibilities™ that you could barely catch him long enough to say hello. Which was frustrating for you both because it was pretty obvious the two of you were interested in seeing each other outside of a checkout lane.
  • One day you’re focusing rather hard on which type of potato would be best to go with your dinner, and he rolls up with your answer, and a question that surprises you.
  • By some miracle, he’s managed to free up some time later that evening, and he’d love to use said time to take you out to dinner.
  • You don’t think you’ve ever pounced on an opportunity so damn hard before or since.
  • Here begins your relationship with Ignis Scientia, the busiest (and loveliest) man you’ll ever know.
  • Most of the time you spend together is at his home. His job is stressful one, and his place is the easiest environment for him to wind down in.
  • Sometimes you spend the day there while he’s at work, tidying up anything he hasn’t had time to tidy and making him dinner so he can relax as much as possible when he comes back. He appreciates it, of course, but he keeps insisting that you don’t have to do it.
  • The only time you’ve ever seen him blush is whenever you try to take care of him. Well there have been other times, but we won’t get into that now.
  • Cooking together sounded like a great idea, but you kept getting distracted and burned a lot of things so now you take turns.
  • You have this running joke that every time one of you cooks dinner, the other will critique it to a ridiculous degree. He gets you every time.
  • “I see that you didn’t cook this steak to an internal temperature of fifty five degrees Celsius….fifty six degrees… a grave mistake, my dear.”
  • Relaxed Iggy is the best Iggy. It’s a pretty rare sight to see, but when it does happen it feels like magic. When the white gloves come off, his shirt unbuttons, and his long legs cross as he leans back in his seat you feel like you’ve done everything so right. It fills you with joy to see the tension leave his shoulders, even if it’s for only a moment.
  • Ignis needs order, so please respect that. Don’t move his things unless he tells you it’s okay to. It drives him a tad insane.
  • There are times where you’ll go a long period without being able to see him, but he’ll call you every chance he gets just to hear your voice.
  • Or he’ll show up and just take you shopping with him because that’s the best he can do at the moment.
  • You’ll leave the isle and come back to pretend you’re bumping into him again like old times because you know he’ll get a kick out of it.
  • Kisses you goodnight. Kisses you good morning. Kisses you hello/good-bye. Cheek kisses, or a peck on the lips if you’re in a public place. Kisses that always leave the wind knocked out of you if you’re alone. Smooch smooch.
  • You’re secretly a little jealous of his perfect posture. Ignis sits up so prim and proper that when you’re really bored, you’ll start stacking things on his head to see if they’ll stay. It’s become a game.
  • The first time you did it, it also happened to be the first night he’d spent at your house. It was early morning, and Ignis was sat at your small dining table enjoying a nice cup of Ebony. He pretended not to notice when you came into the room, smile mischievous and hands full of the small, stuffed toys that usually sat on a shelf in the lounge. You got four moogles tall before they toppled over, not because of him moving, but because of how much your hands were shaking from your laughter.
  • He leaned his head back to give you a look, mouth twitching with amusement in a way that all but hypnotized you into his lap.
  • Hey did I mention that Ignis gives the best massages known to man? bc that’s just a fact. You don’t even have to ask at this point. When you come in from work with that familiar twinge in your neck, he’s removing his gloves before you can even open your mouth and it’s all over.
  • When you found out how good of a dancer he is, you jokingly asked him to teach you. He did not take it as a joke, and now you know various forms of ballroom dance that you’ll likely never employ.
  • Not to be evil but once you walked in on him fresh out the shower. He was running a bit late for your planned lunch date, and you popped your head into the kitchen to see him rifling through a cabinet, hair damp and bare chest on full display.
  • You almost died that day.
  • Hello petnames! He is quite fond of Dear, or Darling. He calls you Love when you aren’t feeling well. It makes you melt into the floor.
  • SO patient and SO kind, you have no idea. Always knows what to say when you’re having a hard time, and also knows when words aren’t something you need. Will just hold you for hours if that’s what you want.
  • Prone to migraines. You have to pull him on to the bed to get him to lay down so you can rub his temples for him in the dark. He’ll whisper out how much he appreciates you the whole time and you’ll just shush him and kiss his nose.
  • (you think all the caffeine he takes in makes them worse but you’d literally have to pry his coffee from his cold, dead hands before he’d give it up)
  • Wakes you up in the morning by murmuring praise at you, fingertips tracing your features like he’s trying to memorize every curve and dip. Mornings like this always leave you in a good mood, and it carries into every aspect of your day.

1. Saved Tonight (30k)**

Harry is the world’s most persistent seduction-baker, a questionable dog-sitter, and Louis’s biggest fan. Louis hasn’t written in years, is trying to pass loneliness off as cynicism, and absolutely hates his fans. It’s probably destiny.

2. Too Real to Fake It (82k)*

With seven years of blissful marriage behind them and four wonderfully unique kids to brag about, Harry and Louis seem to finally have life all figured out and under control. How much more real could it get?

Very real it turns out, when Harry reluctantly leaves home for a 5 day business trip leaving Louis to manage their rambunctious, hyperactive household. Do they really have it all under control or are they just faking it?

Featuring all the usual suspects, inside jokes, embarrassing moments and of course, Harry and Louis’ wild antics + the addition of their four equally wild and outrageous kids.

3. When You Look Like That (16k)*

“You… you still have the dress form I got you for your eighteenth birthday? You’ve kept it for ten years, Harry?” Louis’ eyes flick around Harry’s studio. It’s big and modern, with floor to ceiling windows that help flood the room in bright sunlight, just like the lobby. However, he can’t stop staring at the faded, but present, heart surrounding the “H + L” written delicately in Louis’ handwriting in the center of the mannequin.

Louis is a songwriter who is nominated for a Grammy and he needs a suit. Fast. He seeks out help from a very popular, very mysterious designer who just so happens to be his ex-boyfriend.

Do you have any advice on what to do if you lose your joy and interest in writing when a writer was how you identified yourself?

(wry look) Life just pulled one of those cute things where I had three-quarters of a response written and I hit the wrong keys somehow and it all went away. Which tells me that this is important. So let me recreate it.

The best advice I’ve got for you right now is to lean back and wait, because normally the joy and interest will come back. Being a writer, and having enjoyed and been interested in it previously, isn’t something that goes away all that easily. The set of behaviors that make up being a writer are complex and difficult to ingrain… which is going to make the ability to do this kind of work difficult to lose even if you were trying to do so. So, first of all: take heart.

Now it has to be said that, human nature and psychology (and nature itself) being the cranky intransigent things they sometimes are, it may (paradoxically) be necessary for your recovery of your joy and interest in the work to completely surrender to the concept that you might actually have permanently lost it. I know this sounds counterintuitive, but the effectiveness of simply giving up is sometimes surprising.  There’s a saying attributed to Carl Jung, the father of the concept of Archetype as we now understand it, that goes like this: “What you resist, persists; and not only does it persist, but it gets bigger in size.” (There’s a good long article about this concept over here in Psychology Today: worth looking at. …Though I also have to say that the illo at the top is hilarious and perfect, because Kylo Ren should frankly be the poster child for the whole idea.)

My own experience suggests that there are times when as soon as you give up, the thing that’s been eluding you either collapses to the ground where you can just stroll over and reclaim it, or turns around and runs headlong into your arms. Frustrating, but what can you do? When the whole point is to get whatever it is back, the idea that it played you a little in the process will after the fact seem less of an issue.

Possible causes for what’s going on with you are worth touching on briefly. I’ve had occasion to post a number of times about something that C. S. Lewis codified in The Screwtape Letters as “the Law of Undulations”. Now as much as I love him, there would be a lot of things that Clive and I would disagree about, but this wouldn’t be one of them. I think he was really onto something. So take a look at that basic post, and then we can move on a bit.

With the Law in mind, while you’re working on what “giving up” might look like – assuming you need to go that far – here are some possibly similar situations and strategies to consider.

Some of the above situations come with suggestions of possible things you can do about them. But do not underestimate the power of simply waiting a while and not doing anything. It’s worth emphasizing that in our culture as it stands at the moment, there’s endless emphasis on immediately DOING THINGS to fix what ails you. Sometimes not doing anything is more effective – though to some people that’s going to sound heretical, and you’ll run the risk of being accused of laziness (not least by the back of your own mind, once it realizes you’re onto something that’s going to give you back control of the situation. The self-sabotaging wiliness of a subconscious about to lose its advantage can be a terrifying thing… but even that loses some of its terrors when your conscious mind suspects or knows what it’s up to.) Anyway, ignore that noise.

Give doing nothing a good long chance. Stoke up on your reading. Get caught up on TV and movies if that’s your thing. Do other work. Create something that isn’t writing. (Cooking’s good for this. I love being responsible for mighty successes or godawful failures in the kitchen and knowing that the critics at Kirkus and PW are not going to give the slightest damns about it.)

But tl:dr; Don’t despair: just kick back and wait. And see how it goes.

…And eventually let me know how you get on. :)  HTH.

In which pie is complicated

Patton gets a bit too enthusiastic during Thanksgiving when he discovers that Virgil likes pie.

AN: Um. This is the fluffiest piece of fluff ever and it makes me happy so here you are and I hope it makes you happy too.

Pairings: platonic Moxiety (again, lol)

Warnings: None :D

forevers: @sanders-trash-4ever @istolelittleredshoodie @redundant-statements-for-400 @lilbeanblr

This was the first Thanksgiving. The first one they would have all together. As a family. It was the first one that they weren’t casting nervous glances down Virgil’s hall, hoping to God the ‘little jerk’ wouldn’t show up and sabotage everything.

It was the first Thanksgiving that Patton set out four plates in the mind palace dining room. And it was the first Thanksgiving that Virgil hesitantly poked his head out into the hallway.

“Are you… are you going to make a pie?”

Patton jumped and swiveled around. He had on his favorite apron and was knee deep in mashed potatoes and turkey for Thanksgiving tomorrow. He struggled to keep a neutral face on but quickly slipped into a grin. “You came out of your room!”

Virgil rolled his eyes and slipped into one of the bar stools at the breakfast table. He grunted. “Yeah. Whatever. It just… smelled good.”

Patton’s heart shrilled. His friend, his buddy, his little dude wasn’t actively avoiding him! He’d hoped, oh he’d hoped, that Virgil would want to join them, but he knew that Virgil might choose to duck out in favor of stewing in his room, or worse, joining Thomas in the real world. But here he was, the day before Thanksgiving, asking about pie.

Pie.

Patton stilled. He had no idea how to make a pie. Logan and Roman had always been more fond of ice cream sundaes and so Patton had never made the effort to learn. But Virgil said pies. And if Virgil wanted pies, he was getting pies. “T-thanks,” he stuttered.

Virgil quirked an eyebrow. “You okay, Pat?”

He was great! He was over the moon! Everything was awesome!

“I’m just dandy, kiddo,” he managed. He turned back to his potatoes, which were making weird popping noises, and stirred it around. He could sense Virgil just behind him, playing with the placement of the cornucopia in the center of the table.

Patton opened his mouth to speak, but at that moment, he felt Thomas tugging at him. He paused and took off his apron. “Right back, Virgil. Can you make sure this doesn’t burn?”

Virgil nodded and Patton quickly sunk out.

And by the time Patton came back to the kitchen, Virgil was gone, leaving a finished pot of mashed potatoes on the counter. Patton smiled.

Okay, so he needed to figure out how to make pies.

Patton had no idea how to work a computer, so down it was to Logan’s library to see if Thomas had picked up anything subconsciously about how to make pies. He found a recipe book quickly and skimmed through the sort-of instructions, nodding all the while. Okay, he could work with this. How many hours did he have? Not nearly enough.

He sunk back into the kitchen, book in hand, and slapped onto the counter.

It couldn’t be that difficult, could it?

Several hours later, Logan was the one that found him. He wandered in, intent on locating the metal notes he’d accidentally left in the living room, only to stop and stare at the kitchen in horror.

Flour was everywhere and there were pans piled in every which way. Pies of all sorts, burnt and less burnt. A cloud of smoke hung in the air and Patton was crouching on a counter, repeatedly slamming the rolling pin into what appeared to be a rock. No. It was dough.

It might as well have been a rock.

Logan stared, stunned and speechless until Patton wiped around and scrambled off the counter. He rushed toward Logan and grabbed him by the shoulders, rolling pin still in hand. “I didn’t ask him what type of pie! I don’t know what type of pie he likes! Pumpkin, apple, berry, cherry, chocolate, banana cream-”

“Patton!” Logan took the other side by the shoulders and detached him from his (now covered in floury handprints) button down. “What on earth has gotten into you?”

Patton took a deep breath. And all at once, he deflated. “V-Virgil-”

But before he could continue, Thomas grabbed Logan by the scruff of his neck and pulled him out of the room (rude).

And so Patton stood there alone in the kitchen, panting. He huffed in frustration.

He was never going to finish them in time!

He was going to ruin Thanksgiving and Virgil wasn’t going to want to spend the holiday with them and if he didn’t like Thanksgiving, then he might not want to have Christmas with them and then and then and then-

The oven timer beeped.

Patton scrambled over to it.

His hands were shaking and he had no idea how long it had been since he’d properly eaten or slept. Time was odd in the mindscape and a day could stretch for several if he was so inclined. Carefully, he took out a pie from the oven. It was supposed to be a pumpkin pie.

It looked like a mud pie and Patton could feel tightness in his throat bubbling up. You’re not going to cry about pies, silly.

But he just couldn’t do this. He didn’t know how!

All at once, all of his energy left him. His shoulders slumped, he dropped into a chair, and he rubbed his eyes, swiping flour onto his forehead. A sniff. A small one. Don’t cry.

Virgil’s going to hate it.

And that was all it took. Patton coughed and sniffed and cried as clouds of flour settled around him. The room was quiet for the first time in hours but for the sound of Patton’s quiet, tired sniffing. Stop crying, you baby.

He almost didn’t notice the person. In fact, he did not feel them until a soft hand touched his shoulder and slowly lifted his chin. His touch was cool, but not uncomfortably so.

“Hey, Pat. What’s going on?”

Patton’s eyes went wide. He tried to scramble up but he kept him in his seat with another touch. “Virgil, I-I, I’m s-sorry.” His eyes were filling with water and he could hardly see Virgil’s face.

Virgil frowned. “Sorry? Why are you sorry? Patton, look at me. What is all this?” He gestured at the bombsite of a kitchen around them.

Patton’s chest tightened. He couldn’t possibly tell him. He couldn’t ruin it more than he had. But… Patton was never good at keeping secrets. He swiped at his eyes again. “I’m t-trying to make pies. C-cause you said you want pies and I-I wanted you to spend Thanksgiving with us,  but I don’t, I don’t know how and- and-”

Virgil’s eyes flickered with shock, followed by guilt. “Oh jeez, Pat. I didn’t, I didn’t mean-”

Patton had failed him. “And now I’ve ruined everything!” He didn’t want to look at him. He couldn’t look at him…

But instead of walking away, instead of grumbling, instead of snapping, Virgil did something very unexpected. He crouched down so that he could look Patton in the eyes. “Patton, don’t be ridiculous.”

Patton blinked. “What?”

“I should have realized you’d take me seriously. I just…” Virgil chewed his lip and suddenly started speaking quickly. “I don’t really know a whole lot about Thanksgiving outside of what I’ve heard, and I’ve heard pies are a thing, so that’s what I said. I mean, I love pies, but it wasn’t- it wasn’t a deal breaker or-or… anything. I… this is my fault. I’m sorry.”

Patton wiped his eyes one more time and cocked his head. “Oh,” he said. Virgil smiled at him hesitantly. And it wasn’t a smirk, it wasn’t a grimace or a snark. A real smile. Patton swallowed thickly. “So you’re not… mad?”

Virgil snorted. “Course I’m not mad. I never imagined you would, or anyone would care that much about… Look, let’s just…”

But before he could finish, Patton jumped forward and wrapped him in a hug. Tighter than he usually hugged because it was necessary. He felt Virgil stiffen under him, but he slowly relaxed. And carefully, hugged him back.

Quite suddenly, the whole situation felt ridiculous. It was hilarious, actually. Patton chuckled into Virgil’s hoodie and Virgil started to laugh as well. And soon they were both laughing.

Once they caught their breaths, Virgil chuckled and gestured vaguely at the kitchen. “How about we fix this disaster, yeah?” He stood and offered a hand down for Patton to grab.

Patton smiled sheepishly and took it. “Okay.”

They surveyed the flour covered mess and Virgil glanced at Patton. “How many pies did you try to make?”

“Twenty-three.”

“Class, can anyone tell me the characteristics of a sufferer of Lycanthropy?” The substitute teacher asked.

Sirius bent over in his seat, whispering to his friend. “Yeah Remus, care to enlighten us?”

Remus shook his head, chuckling softly as he watched another student answer the question. “Well, one such trait is that he wears cashmere sweaters a lot.”

“And he has a wild appetite for chocolate.” James added, poking him from behind.

“Hopelessly in love with (Y/n) (Y/l/n) is also one.” Peter chimed, earning a scoff from Remus.

“Keep it down big mouth, you’ll make him turn red.” Sirius teased, pinching Remus’ cheek. Remus shoved him off, the four boys laughing to themselves until the teacher shushed them.

“Yes, Mr. Snape?” The teacher pointed towards the lonely boy, who patiently held his hand high.

“How do you kill a werewolf?” He asked plainly, staring daggers into Remus. The teacher had begun to answer when a girl from the back spoke up.

Dinner went by swimmingly. The awkwardness of your conversation with Damian soon melted away when Jason asked how you and Dick met. You exchanged a look with your boyfriend, and instead of telling the story, you turned to Bruce.

“I’m assuming it was you who taught him how to drive?” you asked, one eyebrow raised while Dick laughed.

“Yes,” he answered, clearly confused as to how this related to Jason’s question.

“And did you ever talk to him about tailgating?”

“I’m sure I must have.”

You let out a light laugh before continuing. “Well, I’m sure you didn’t mention it enough, because he was tailgating me on a long stretch of road and when we came to a red light, he rear ended me.” You didn’t even have to look to know Jason had a smirk on his face, so you added, “and we are referring to cars, Jason.”

The lights of the George Washington Bridge glow in the distance, a stark contrast to the dark waters of the Hudson. Lin grunts as he pushes the piano up against the window of his studio apartment, leaning an arm on the top of the piano to peer out at the view.

“To be honest, the piano looked better against the wall,” you pipe up from your perch on the arm of the worn out leather sofa.

Lin spins around quickly, a startled look etched on his face. “Who’s in here?”

“Hi there,” you wave your hand, a small smirk on your face, before you stand. You smooth out your skirts and take a few steps toward him.

“Who are you and what are you doing in my apartment?” He takes a few quick steps backwards as you approach, his back colliding with the wall.

“Relax,” you hold up your hands in a show of benevolence. “I come with the piano.”

Can you do a companions react to the Inquisitor being Autistic? Especially Cole?

I (Mod Sarah) am autistic, so I was very pleased to see this request. That being said, autism is a wide-reaching term for an entire spectrum of symptoms that affect people differently– every autistic person is unique, and each has their own quirks and symptoms. I feel that companion responses would vary, depending on what symptoms and behaviors the Inquisitor in question is displaying. For the sake of simplicity, I will be basing this autistic Inquisitor off of my own unique brand of autism, finely aged and diagnosed for the last ten years. Let’s get this show on the road.

Cassandra: Their behavior confounds her, at least at first. They avoid eye contact like the plague, can have intense reactions to stimuli, such as loud noises like explosions upset them with ease. She at first thought they were just being childish, but eventually realizes they’re genuinely hypersensitive to certain things. She guesses that they’re not exactly neurotypical, judging by behavior, and tries to be more receptive to their needs and sensitivities after finding out they’re innocent. It doesn’t particularly bother her that they fidget and stim and avoid eye contact, or even sometimes speak too loudly or too quietly– so long as they’re honest and good at heart. Iron Bull later on describes a mental condition known to the Qun that’s akin to autism and other development disorders, and she agrees that they likely are autistic. If Romanced: He likes just lying by her side, citing the same poems he knows by heart, staring up at the sky with her. She’s smiling, too, as she listens, knowing the poem by heart from repeated recitations as she holds his hand and looks up at the world beyond, so long as they’re there for each other.

Iron Bull: He’s met people like them. He figures it out after observing them, and he adapts accordingly. The Qun values people like them, especially if they have special interests, which are encouraged and honed for special jobs as adults. As a result, he respects them more at first. He accommodates them, and never asks them why they avoid eye contact or fidget or stim in any way. He informs the others what he thinks is different about them, and that’s about it. The man is also good at figuring out what they mean when they speak somewhat disorderly, as if words got jumbled before coming out, and often clarifies for the others. He’s a big source of help during the Winter Palace, getting them out of sight and letting them calm down or stim when overwhelmed. If Romanced: Sex with him is somewhat specialized, but fantastic– he figures out what they do and don’t like, and he works with it. Sometimes they just lay side-by-side, while he massages their muscles in just the way they like it, whispering sweet words of comfort at just the right tone for them, repeated and quiet.

Blackwall: He’s never encountered someone like them, so he thought, until Bull tells him that he likely has but never noticed. He’s not really sure how to go about them, so he just decides he’ll take it in stride and work with them. It works well, and they’re comfortable with each other. After he’s revealed to be Thom Rainier, they actually get over it pretty fast, regarding what he did as a Bad Thing, but he’s trying to make up for it, which they accept. If Romanced: He’s more worried than usual about going into romance with them, because he’s worried that if and when they find out who he is, she’ll have a meltdown, she’ll refuse to even look at him, what have you. He doesn’t want to break her heart. When the time comes, she’s having a meltdown, but not because of who he is– but because he’s in jail, and she desperately wants him to come home. When he finally does, he gets a scolding, but she forgives him. He decides that his new mission in life is making her safe and happy, like she made him.

Sera: She doesn’t care in the least– in fact, she likes it. She sort of relates to them, actually– to the point where she starts wondering if she’s autistic at all. She gives them all sorts of things and textures to fiddle with. She speaks at a level that doesn’t upset them (while she enjoys yelling and cheering and howling with laughter, she’ll take it down a notch for their sake) and will viciously prank anyone who gives them shit for their quirks. “It’s not like they can help it. It’s just who they are, and anyone who says otherwise can knob it.” If Romanced: The romance proceeds mostly like normal, though she doesn’t start yelling at her in the culminate scene when describing her nightmare, because she knows it will upset her. Instead, she avoids her, frustrated and trying to figure out how to describe what’s going on, and opts for writing it down. The Herald reads it, looks up at her, and frowns. “But I love you,” the she says, sounding a little hurt, “I’m sorry about the dream, but dreams are dreams. They don’t have to come true. I just want to be with you.” Sera’s heart melts, and tackles her with a kiss.

Varric: He’s very understanding and unfazed by their quirks, and isn’t surprised when Bull mentions they’re probably autistic. He just works with it, with who they are, and treats them like people, not just a weirdo. “So what if you’re a little different? That’s what makes you who you are, and you’re fine.” They like listening to him tell stories– his voice is nice and even and calm, which calms them down. Often they ask for the same few stories they like again and again, but Varric doesn’t mind– he’s happy to have an enraptured audience. He also suggests to them trying to write to get their thoughts out, to express themselves, and it helps.

Cole: He is of a LOT of help to the Inquisitor. He’s good at voicing how they’re feeling or what they’re thinking if they’re incapable in any way of doing so, as well as getting them things they need but don’t vocalize that they need. “They’re a little different in the way their thoughts work, but they think of new and wonderful things that most can’t. They are good the way they are.” He protests whenever they have to mask how they actually act, citing it as stressing them out and exhausting. He also knows exactly what textures, sounds, and tastes they do or don’t like, often bringing them things for stimming to calm them down or steering them away from offending stimuli, such as excessively bright lights or noise. If they have a special interest(s), he happily listens to them info-dump without getting remotely bored– it makes the Herald so happy, which makes him happy.

Vivienne: She was a little off-put by how they acted in her chateau at first, but she starts suspecting something isn’t normal about them aside from the mark. When Bull explains the disorder to her, she does research and quickly comes to agree with the diagnosis. She’s significantly more patient with them as a result, and she tries to coach them on talking to people. “Unfortunately for you, eye contact is a standard of Orlesian society,” she says, “if this is too difficult for you, try focusing your attention on a nose or intricate part of the mask. They’ll never tell the difference.” When it comes to fidgeting, she actually gets them a notebook and fancy quill, and advises them to play with the quill against the notebook when at parties– Orlesians will just think they’re working and admire it, while they can stim to some extent. She recognizes it’s part of who they are, and must be worked with instead of covered up.

Dorian: They get frustrated easily with social interaction, and if they recruit the mages, practically the whole time spent in future Redcliffe is them trying to not have a meltdown or sensory overload. He tries his best to keep them as calm as possible, but begins to think that maybe there’s more going on with them than just panic at their situation. Bull explains what he thinks is up with them, and Dorian buries himself in whatever information he can get about the disorder. He gets good at calming them down and using certain spells to numb certain sensations or noises, which greatly reduces their stress levels. If Romanced: He cringes, at first, when the Herald bluntly tells anyone who asks that he’s his boyfriend. They don’t understand at all why it should be hidden in any regard, and Dorian tries to explain his discomfort, or at least plans to– until he sees him positively glowing with joy and pride as he talks about him, and Dorian smiles and reconsiders. He really does love him, and Dorian knows it– and loves him back.

Solas: He’s seen memories of people somewhat like them in the Fade, being social outcasts, misunderstood and called stupid when they were anything but. He won’t treat them like that, and he strives to understand them and their disability to the best of his ability. If they don’t mind, he asks a lot of questions about how they feel and think. Often he listens to them info-dump about their special interest, if they have one, and sometimes they get embarrassed. He just encourages them to go on. If Romanced: Assuming Lavellan has a special interest of some sort, he starts taking her into the Fade, showing her old memories of anything related to what she’s interested in. He listens to her talk, happy and excited, and she thanks him with a kiss. “Ma serannas, ma vhenan!” she squeals. “No, I am the one who should be thanking you, Vhenan.” he replies with a chuckle and another kiss, soft and sweet.

Josephine: She notices their lack of tolerance for eye contact before any other symptoms, and while initially worried she did something wrong, the others explain the Herald’s unorthodox behaviors and tics. She, along with Vivienne, tries her best to coach them on talking and interacting with others. It’s not without hard work and tears and meltdowns on the Herald’s part, but they have relatively smooth sailing in the Winter Palace with their hard work. They’re absolutely exhausted after trying to act neurotypical, and she always feels so bad for them and tries to compensate them with something they like. She also cringes at their awful handwriting– it looks like chicken scratch on steroids– and figures out it’s due to poor eye-hand coordination. She also spends a lot of time trying to remedy this, even considering hiring a scribe to help them. If Romanced: They like listening to her just talk about her day, sometimes asking her to repeat stories again and again, old and new. They cuddle on the couch before the fireplace in their room while they cuddle, and Josephine is full of bliss.

Leliana: She’s unfazed by their unusual behavior and tics, and is remarkably patient with them. She likes it when they don’t hide it, because she can tell how they’re actually feeling and thinking most of the time when they don’t mask themselves. She sometimes gives them raven feathers that have fallen to the ground to the Herald for them to run their fingers along the smooth texture, which pleases them. It always brings a smile to her face to see them relax, even a little.

Cullen: You meet all sorts of people in the Circle, and autistic mages (and the occasional templar) were among them. He’s receptive to their sensitivities and needs, and accommodates them without complaint or so much as a second thought. He takes it all in stride, knowing that’s just how they are. When Bull tells him about autism, he just nods. “That explains a lot about a lot of different mages I’ve met over the years.” he remarks. If Romanced: She likes running her fingers through his hair, a sort of stim in and of itself, and he tolerates it, listening to her hum and chatter about the day’s events.

The drive home wasn’t pleasant and it wasn’t something you were accustomed to driving through in California. In fact, now that you think about it, you’re not sure you’ve ever driven in a storm like this. The rain fell down in sheets so heavy your windshield wipers couldn’t keep up. You had to keep your hands firmly on the wheel when wind threatened to push you into another lane. You held your breath every time your car hydroplaned for a few seconds, taking all your self control not to slam on the brakes. Lightning flashed and thunder rumbled as you finally pull your car into the garage, close to 12 AM. With a sigh, you shut the car off and grab your things, fumbling with the keys in the lock. The door gets stuck and you push it a few times before it gives and you practically fall through the threshold.

A Friend Like Me.

Request from @the-lazy-leprechaun: Could I maybe request a fic where Bucky has finally cut his hair since he is now part of the Avengers and the reader offers to help him shave his beard if he guides the reader through it step by step? Like really fluffy!!!

Note: This was totally cute to write out. I remembered the request slightly wrong though when I got into this and accidentally had Bucky asking the reader to do it for him rather than the reader offering buuuuuut I think it makes it extra fluffy so I hope you don’t mind :)

Even after years of working with The Avengers you were still the complete opposite of the majority of them – whereas they liked to socialise with one another during their downtime you were more than happy to just pick up a book and lose yourself in a whole other world.

You glanced over the page again and found the last line you had read and was about to start again when you felt someone jump over the back of the sofa you had nestled yourself onto and land heavily beside you. The cold feeling of metal brushing up against the bare flesh of your arm told you who it was before you had even looked up from your page.

“So come on then [y/n] what do you think?”

“Hmm?”

It was the only response you offered him as your eyes scanned the words before you. Pride and Prejudice is an absolute classic, one you had fallen in love with back in your college days, and no one was going to interrupt your reading of it….not if they wanted to have a peaceful life.

and a Long Island Iced Tea | Harry Styles One Shot

So this might be a little different to how the anon had in mind but this premise can get a bit samey sometimes so I tried to do something a little different. I dunno. Hope you like it, I x

You hadn’t slept in nearly three days. You’d managed to eat a couple of slices of toast but the unrelenting nausea made it hard to swallow. You sipped at water but by this point that was the only thing you were living off. Anxiety made your body shake constantly, even when you were busy pinning garments and making alterations your hands shook making the work that came so easily to you, so difficult. The only thing in your mind was how you could make it right, how you could fix the mistake you’d made. You knew you couldn’t, you knew you couldn’t because you’d always feared it being the other way round and when you thought about it and your gut tied itself in knots and you felt sick, you knew it wouldn’t have been able to be fixed. But it was you who had done what you never thought you could.

Three days had passed since the phone call, and now you were waiting in what had become your shared living room, your own flat virtually unlived in on the other side of town, waiting for him to appear. His flight was due in early that morning and as you sipped on black coffee, a bad decision considering you already had the shakes and your mind was working on overdrive, and watched the sunrise you were wondering if he felt as sick as you did.

‘Please tell me I’m not seeing what I think I’m seeing.’ Harry’s voice was monotonous, emotionless as it came down the line. He didn’t even say Hello, let you know how he was. You knew what he was talking about but you were hoping he wouldn’t know yet. You were going to tell him, you wanted to tell him before he found out from someone or somewhere else but you were too late.

‘I’m so sorry Ha-’

‘Fuck Y/N.’ He shouted and you gasped. You shouldn’t have been taken back, he was angry, of course he was angry, he had every right to be but he never shouted at you. You’d seen him get angry at others, seen him shout at others, but frustration with you was always harnessed into something calmer. ‘After everything you put me through about coming out here, you’re the one who actually does it.’ His voice was quieter but you could still hear the anger in it. You’d argued about him going out to LA again. He never seemed to be home much these days, you knew he was busy and it was an important time for his career but you missed him, you were lonely and every time he went to LA something happened, something kicked off and you were the one left at home without a clue what was really going on trying to hold the pieces together.

You’d told him you couldn’t do it anymore, couldn’t sit in London fighting of paparazzi questions and tweets from fans and gossip mongrels whilst he sat back in LA and let it blow over. You knew that wasn’t what he did, if something happened he would call you and comfort you tell you he’d sort it, and he did but that didn’t stop the questions. ‘Have you spoken to Harry?’ ‘He’s cheating on you can’t you see it.’ ‘She’s an idiot to think she could keep him away from the models out there.’ How could you ignore it? He’d promised he’d be working the whole time he was there and he’d be back as soon as it was all sorted, there’d be no time for partying or socialising and it seemed there hadn’t been, but that wasn’t the case for you.

You’d been invited out for a night out with some friends and you decided to go. You’d been working to the death the last few weeks on your collection and you deserved to let your hair down. Apart from anything else it would take your mind of Harry for a while. And it did just that. You didn’t know what you were thinking when you let the young lad, that looked like a brit-pop throwback, who had been dancing too close all night, press his lips onto yours. You pushed him away as soon as you realised what was going on but not before someone in the club had snapped a picture. Within hours it was doing the rounds on social media before you even knew about it, by the time you knew it was too late to do any kind of damage control.

‘Harry please listen to me.’ You were crying now. You were scared of what what you could lose, you couldn’t be without him but it would be your own fault if he decided he couldn’t be with you now and you weren’t sure how to process that. He was silent, that was the only cue you needed. ‘I was lonely, I was missing you, I was st-’

‘You were missing me?’ He laughed in disbelief and you sobbed. ‘Missing me so much, were you missing me while you were kissing him?’ You stayed silent just sobbing. ‘Answer me.’ He screamed.

‘Harry please don’t shout at me.’ You begged, your voice faltering as tears flooded down your face.

‘Stop crying, you have no right to cry, you fucked up I’m the one that should be crying.’ He told you angrily, spitting his words down the phone to you. You knew he was right but you were shaking with the fear of losing him and you couldn’t help but cry. You breathed trying to hold it back. If it would make him tolerate your voice until you could explain, or try to explain, you’d hold the sobs back until you couldn’t breathe.

‘It just happened, he kissed me, I pushed him away and that was it.’ You told him quickly in one breath before you hiccuped. You wish you could see him, you wished he could see you. If he could see how much you hated yourself, how angry you were at yourself, how much you loved him maybe he’d realise.

‘Did you kiss him back?’ He asked quietly. In honesty you couldn’t remember, if it wasn’t for the photos you might not have even remembered the kiss had happened. You wished you could forget but now it was all you could think about. ‘You did didn’t you.’

‘I don’t know.’

‘You don’t know?’ He laughed and you could hear his voice sticking to his mouth. His voice wetter, you knew he was crying now. Maybe he could cope if some random guy had come onto you, he’d seen you dancing on nights out, he knew how attractive you were, and yeah a guy might come onto you. Not when he was there because he wouldn’t leave your side when he was there but on your own, catching you unaware maybe he could get over that. But the thought of you pushing your lips, his lips, into a stranger was too much to bare.

‘Harry I’m sorry, I love-’

‘Don’t.’ He told you and sobbed loudly. ‘I don’t want to speak to you right now I can’t deal with it, I’ll see you when I’m back.’

‘I love you Harry.’ He didn’t reply and the phone line went dead before you could finish. Now you were about to see him. You’d thought about staying in his grey, random donut shop hoodie that you’d been wearing for the last three days but you didn’t know how he’d react so you opted for your hoodie and some jeans. Your uniform for working days. You could really do without this today. You needed to be in the studio, in only five days your first collection would be on the catwalk at London fashion week. You needed to be doing alterations, getting measurements, making sure everything was sorted but the two page long to do list on your desk hadn’t even crept into your mind yet. All you could think about was Harry, all you could think about was how all you wanted was for him to pull you into his arms the way he normally did when he got back from a trip but you knew that wouldn’t happen.

You heard his key in the door and you closed your eyes taking a deep breath. You didn’t move, you didn’t wander out to find him. Tears were already stinging your eyes as you heard him pulling his bags through the door and the door close heavily. It was seconds, but it felt like minutes until he was stood in the living room door looking at you. He looked as tired and weak as you did. The bags under his eyes were heavier and darker than you’d ever known them, and despite having been in LA for two weeks his skin looked pale and matte. The tears that had been stinging your eyes fell down you cheeks at the sight of him and he just shook his head.

‘Say something.’ You begged him, not moving as he took his first few steps into the room but not coming near you.

‘I don’t know what to say Y/N.’ He told you. He was staring straight at you but it felt like it was more straight through you. He didn’t know who you were anymore.

‘Will you let me explain.’ He shrugged and you swallowed hard on nothing, your coffee long since finished. ‘I was drunk, that’s not an excuse but I was, I can’t remember hardly any of the night-’

‘These sound like excuses Y/N.’ He told you looking cocky. That look would either normally turn you on or annoy you but right now it just made you feel even more guilty.

‘They’re not,’ You told him trying to assure him you weren’t excusing you inexcusable behaviour. ‘He’d been moving in on me and Jen all night and we pushed him away but finally I’d had enough and I let him dance with us, he obviously took it the wrong way-’

‘You seem to remember a lot of the night you can hardly remember any off.’ He interrupted again and you sighed. You couldn’t get annoyed at him for taking stabs at you or for interrupting you when you were trying to explain. And apart from anything else he was right.

‘He obviously took it the wrong way and he kissed me.’ You finished, Harry rolled his eyes and shook his head.

‘And you kissed him back.’ He said it like he knew, like he’d seen it himself. You shook your head. ‘That’s what the papers and Twitter is saying.’

‘So you’re going to believe them over me?’ You asked he shrugged, he didn’t seem to care. Perhaps he was over it by now. ‘Harry you know what those people are like, you know the shit they come out with, I’m your girlfriend-’

‘No you’re not.’ Your heart broke in that instant. You were shocked into silence, your voice gone and your heart rate tripling. You wanted to fight back, to question it but you thought you might be sick if you opened your mouth. Harry moved closer to you, you could feel his breath as he pulled your face up to look at him. ‘I trusted my girlfriend with everything, I loved her with everything I am, I’d have gone to the ends of the earth for her, she’d have done the same for me.’ Your tears were falling fast and hard, blurring your vision so you could hardly make him out. ‘I don’t know who you are.’ He spat before dropping your face and walking away from you toward the stairs.

‘I’m going for a shower, I want you out by the time I’m done.’ You went to chase him, protest, he was already half way up the stairs by the time you got to the bottom and called his name. ‘I said I want you out Y/N, I don’t want you here right now.’

You sat at the bar on the other side of town from where you’d been three hours ago, waiting. Three hours ago you’d just finished your first show at London fashion week. For most it probably got lost amongst all the other, bigger, well attended shows, but for you it was the biggest deal, made bigger by Harry’s presence. He’d promised he’d be there, of course he’d promised before you’d betrayed his trust, you should have known he wouldn’t break that promise. Harry Styles was many things but he never went back on his word. You should have known that. He sat in the front row with other mutual friends of yours looking better in a shirt from your collection than the model who was wearing it. It certainly hadn’t gone unnoticed by you, but it also hadn’t gone unnoticed by the journalists and paparazzi outside either. He’d told them he didn’t want to talk about your relationship but they couldn’t help themselves.

‘That’s one of Y/N’s pieces you’re wearing, isn’t that comment enough?’ One of them asked, Harry chuckled and rolled his eyes. You knew the sort of questions they would ask in the current climate, he knew too, you didn’t know why he stopped. You wished he hadn’t, you didn’t want to hear his potential answers, you didn’t want to hear the questions that were on everyone’s lips, yours included. But there were for you to ask, no one else.

‘Look, she’s a good designer I’m here to see the show, shall we leave it at that?’ Harry said before walking away. You saw the video on Twitter, there were the usual nasty comments alongside it and you’d been tagged in some of them but you ignored them all, just watched the video and closed the app. You were there to do your job, you were good at your job, you focused on that.

You caught his eye as you walked down the catwalk at the end of the show to a wildly loud applause. He was smiling, standing with your friends to applaud you and he even gave you a wink. You wished he hadn’t, it confused you even more than it comforted you. Once you returned back up the catwalk he was holding his phone up in front of his face and you felt a little less comforted. He didn’t care as much as he once would have done. It was that, that ensured you didn’t feel good about the meeting he’d proposed, the text coming through to your phone as you were taking garments from models.

Can we meet at the bar later?

It was vague but you knew where he meant.

Sure, I’ll be a couple of hours here so 7ish ok?

See you then

Those few hours passed too slowly. You were confident of what he was going to say, which way it was going to go. He wasn’t going to forgive you, he couldn’t. How could he trust you? If he couldn’t trust you what kind of relationship did you have? You knew it, you could feel it in your stomach but you just wanted to hear it. You wanted to see him, see if anything could be salvaged even if it was just the shadow of a friendship. The wink he’d given you, the proud smile on his face as you walked down the catwalk after your models, made you think that maybe.

It was all whirling around your head in a mess of thoughts as you sat at the bar, Long Island iced tea in hand. You moved it around on the bar, spinning it in your fingers occasionally taking a sip as you mulled your situation over and tried to put yourself in Harry’s shoes. You couldn’t though. He’d never done anything like this to you and you knew he never would. Your drink was half finished when Harry arrived. His hand on your back made you aware of your presence. You smiled weakly as he sat on the stood next to you leaning it to kiss your cheek politely, always polite. The bar man wandered over before anything other than ‘Hi, how are you?’ Could be said.

‘Can I just get,’ He hesitated thinking about it. ‘Ah screw it can I get a daiquiri and another Long Island Iced Tea.’ He didn’t even have to ask, he knew what you’d be drinking in here. Best Long Island Iced Tea in town he’d told you the first time he met you in this bar. He had no idea what he was talking about, and it certainly wasn’t the best Long Island Iced Tea you’d had in London but you couldn’t order anything else. ‘How was your afternoon?’ He asked turning to you, it seemed like a normal conversation wa going to ensure but you knew, not only because it was obvious, but because of the way he was playing with his lips that he was just waiting for his drink to arrive so you’d be undisturbed until he broached the subject.

‘Not bad ta you?’ You asked taking a sip of his drink, he nodded and shrugged. He was wearing exactly the same clothes as he had been earlier. Black jeans, of course, your white silk shirt, black leather boots and the black woolen trench style coat you’d bought him. ‘Where’s everyone else?’ You asked, you knew.

‘Gone for drinks you know that.’ You did know that, that was the plan for after the show. You were all going to go for celebratory drinks before a night on the town but things had changed and Harry was more important.

‘This is more important.’ You told him and he agreed with a nod as the barman bought your drinks over. Harry thanked him and took a sip of the pale yellow cocktail.

‘Collection looked great by the way Y/N.’ He told you with a smile and you thanked him nervously. ‘Got my eyes on a few things.’ He told you cheekily and you chuckled lightly through your straw as you slurped the last mouthful of your cocktail.

‘Well you get friends and family discount, and that’s not a bribe.’ You joked but regretted it instantly. ‘Sorry that was inappropriate.’ You looked down at the bar pulling the second drink closer and pushing the finished one away.

‘Don’t be silly it’s fine.’ He smiled placing his hand on your thigh. You sighed and tried to ignore the contact, you didn’t know what it meant and you were scared to ask. You’d missed it though, his hands on your, his arms around you, his lips. The small touch was enough for now, it was more than you expected and you’d take what you could get.

‘I’m so sorry Harry, I wish-’ You began but he interrupted you and took your hand, turning you in your stool so you faced him.

‘I don’t want to talk about it.’ He told you and you looked at him confused and slightly panicked. If he wouldn’t even hear you out you stood no chance. You thought he’d wanted to meet so you could talk but perhaps he’d already made his mind up, perhaps it was already over for him and there was no going back. ‘It was all a bit much at first and I didn’t handle it very well.’ You went to interrupt him, tell him he handled it better than you probably would have, that his reaction was more than understandable. ‘You were right, I should have trusted you over what everyone was saying and I do really it just took me a while to realise.’ You nodded taking it in. ‘I don’t want you to explain it, I don’t want to hear it, I don’t want you to apologise, I just want to forget it and move on.’ You thought you were going to cry from overwhelming happiness this was going in the complete opposite direction to that you’d thought and prepared for.

‘Harry.’ You gushed. ‘Are you sure, I mean I’d understand if you never wanted to see me again.’ You told him and he laughed.

‘Y/N you’re being ridiculous.’ He told you, your brow furrowed instinctively not quite believing what you were hearing. ‘A drunk guy in a club kissed you, you pushed him away, I mean I’m not happy about it but I’m not going to lose you over it.’ You laughed in disbelief and joy. ‘Let’s just be glad I wasn’t there or you might have been about to become a regular visitor at the local prison.’ You laughed again but this time with humour, everything felt right now and your hand in his didn’t feel like an intrusion. ‘I love you, let’s not something like this happen again.’ You nodded and leaned in to kiss him, savouring every second of his lips on yours. ‘I was thinking, you need to talk to your landlord about your flat.’ You nodded in agreement as conversation flowed in a way it might have done when he’d first arrived back from LA five days earlier, it was like the last week was erased and you couldn’t have been more grateful. ‘Also I’ve got a friend in LA who wants to look at your collection.’ Your eyes went wide and Harry laughed at your reaction.

‘Are you serious?’ London was one thing but the states was another. Harry nodded at you still chuckling.

‘She couldn’t get enough of this shirt and when I told you it was your design she asked if there was more.’ You laughed. You knew Harry Styles walking around in clothes you’d designed could only be a good thing but you’d never imaged it could be that good.

‘Oh my god Harry, thank you.’ You practically leaped off the chair and into his arms. ‘Thank you.’ You said quietly, comforted by his body so close to yours again his arms wrapped around you.

‘You don’t have to thank me, I’ve got nothing to do with you abundance of talent.’ He told you to which you giggled as you pulled back from him a little pressing another, single kiss against his lips. ‘Shall we go find the others?’ You nodded Harry downing the last of his drink before standing from his stool and taking your hand leading you out the door.

The next morning you wake up, naked in Harry’s bed. The smell of his sheets engulfing you. Harry’s side of the bed is empty but the sound of the coffee machine whirring downstairs and the smell of sweet, blueberry pancakes tells you he’s downstairs sorting the normal Saturday breakfast. You pull the heavy duvet in closer for a few seconds, enjoying his sheets alone for a little longer while you check your phone. You pull the charger out of it and the screen illuminates with notifications. Texts of congratulations, a couple of emails and a retweets but one twitter mention that catches your eye.

‘@Harry_Styles mentioned you in a Tweet!’

You unlock your phone slightly confused. It takes a few minutes to load but when it does you could cry. A photo of you walking back up the catwalk the previous day after your show. You’d worn a navy pant suit but lost the jacket earlier in the morning in the mess so you had the tailored trousers on, a black high neck top, the sleeves rolled up to your elbows and your everyday silver bracelets and rings glittering. Your hair was tied in a loose bun at the nape of your neck and the bright red lipstick you’d decided on to make you look a little more alive stood out. You had a smile on your face, a smile of relief but also a smile of dread as you saw Harry, phone in hand ceasing to smile and clap you. Now it made sense.

‘My gorgeous girlfriend doing me proud as she does everyday with you to the end. H x’ You felt the tears stinging in your eyes. It looked like it was directed to you, it was your twitter handle in the tweet but you knew it was a message to the world and everyone who continued to feel the need to ask questions and talk about your relationship like they had a clue about it. You took a deep breath and liked the tweet so he knew you’d seen it before swinging your legs out of the bed and searching for the donut hoodie that you couldn’t wait to put back on.
