Finding out someone you like isn’t potentially interested in you is disappointing, whatever the reason. A cis guy discovering someone he likes is a lesbian and thinking “aw dang, she wouldn’t be interested in me” isn’t… lesbophobic. What do you expect him to do? Jump for joy? You can be disappointed about that and still treat someone respectfully and be a good friend.
It’s like finding out someone you’re attracted to is married or in a committed relationship. Being disappointed that it’s not going to be an option is not the same as saying “graaah! I’m entitled to your affection!” Yeah, sometimes people get sulky and obnoxious, but that’s ‘cause they’re assholes, not ‘cause realizing someone is unavailable to you and being a little disappointed is inherently some evil situation.
