I'm finally making a Draenei, I'm 110% new to this RP and about 95% new to Alliance. So It all feels very intimidating. Any suggestions?
Welcome to the Draenei world! There’s never enough Draebies around. Don’t worry too much about being new and just have fun. Starting out is always rough, especially with a new character, you’ll be figuring them out as you go but the more you RP, even just general conversation RP they’ll develop their own mannerisms and quirks as you go. They have a weird way of taking off into their own character over time.
As far as suggestions, yes it’s very intimidating. I’m still intimidated and still pretty new to in-game RP. I’d suggest finding a small RP guild, those are the most fun with a more family-like feel after a while. That way you can pick and choose which events you’d like to go to with guildies you can chat out of character with in guild chat while things are going on and it’s a much, much more relaxed and fun atmosphere. It’s a good place to practice and get more comfortable with consistent characters. I’ve been very, very guildless for a while so RP’s been almost next to none, so guilds help a lot!
One thing I highly suggest getting the addons MRP or TRP, they’re both RP profile addons you can fill out and it’ll let you see and read everyone else’s as well. It’s also handy to set whether or not you’re in character or out of character.
You can also hang out at city inns and read all of the RP that goes on there, usually in the evenings, so you can see how other people use different RP styles. You can even set yourself to AFK if you aren’t comfortable for anyone to walk up and try to start chatting so you can read and not worry.
Other people could give you a lot more advice than me since I’m fairly new to WoW RP as well, just within the past year, so if anyone has any good advice, feel free to leave it in the comments!
Good luck, anon! (psst you should come to WrA if you’re on the NA servers looking for an RP realm :D There’s a few all Draenei guilds there as well that host events each month)
