⚡️How to Enchant Items⚡️

This is a basic guide on how to enchant everyday objects from necklaces and rings to phones and laptops. Whatever you want to enchant, go ahead and charm it!
⚡️This is not the only way to look at enchantment or do enchantments! Practice and explore to find what suits you best.⚡️

To break it down, enchanting is just giving an item purposed energy. All you need is intent + an energy source! The correspondences of that energy source will be transferred to your object. For example, I could take a necklace and leave it in the sunlight so the sun’s energy can be transferred to the necklace to give me energy, warmth, and confidence (those are my correspondences of the sun). Tada! That necklace is now enchanted!
⚡️Examples of energy sources: the sun, the moon, the weather, yourself, plants, herbs, crystals, electricity, the elements, sigils, etc.⚡️
You can also say a quick chant before or during the charging stage (charging is giving an item energy; the difference between charging and enchanting is that charging is giving an object energy without a specific purpose while enchanting involves giving an object purposed energy) to make that energy have a specific purpose. For example, I could take a ring and leave it on top of a rose quartz crystal and say, “This ring shall be energized with love.” Tada! That ring is now enchanted with the specific purpose of having loving energy! Rather than having all the correspondences of rose quartz transferred to my ring, it is now just the love aspect that has been given to my ring.
So, how do you use these items once they’re enchanted? Just keep them close to you! If you want to be confident, for instance, I’d recommend enchanting a necklace and wearing it around your neck so that it’s closer to where you talk and also closer to where you think. You can also leave them in places where you reside in the most since some of your energy will linger there, such as your bedroom, your most frequented restaurant, etc.

⚡️Common energy sources: crystals, the sun, the moon, herbs, the elements, your own energy, a tarot deck, electricity, lit candles, incense, essential oils⚡️

Quick and Simple Spells

Maybe we have not the energy or psychic resources to complete something complex. Maybe we cannot wait for the full moon. Maybe we need something in the moment. Simple spells can give us a boost or help us through trying moments.

Ease Anxiety
With a small object in your hand (exempli gratia: a pen, a small stone, a charm, an eraser). Run your thumb lightly over the surface of the object either away from you or in a diurnal (anti-clockwise) motion. Repeat slowly in your mind calma anois síos (now calm down).

Confidence Boost
Using your compact or standing in front of the mirror say the following three times: Tá mé neart (I am strength).

Beauty Charm
Hold a necklace, ring, earrings, or bracelet you can comfortably wear in your left hand and place your right hand over them. Repeat three times: áilleacht agus cairde (beauty and grace). Move through your day with confidence.

Notes
If you have trouble pronouncing the Irish, the English will work just as well.

Tips for the Secret Witch

For all the witches who need to keep their Craft under wraps. Whether it is because of a lack of space, sharing your space with religious roommates (or simply people who don’t “get” witchcraft), or if you just would like your privacy, this list can help you out.

Altars

- Keep all your ritual tools in a plain box (like a shoe box) that can be easily tucked under your bed or in your closet and away from prying eyes.

- You can draw out an altar in a sketchbook. You can also add pictures printed from online or from magazines.

- Using glass jar candles can help make any magical space look mundane, and they come in a large variety of scents too (and people will always know what to get you when holidays roll around!).

- If you want to make an altar for a deity, but can’t make it too obvious, put a jar candle next to a trinket or picture associated with that deity. For example, a rose candle next to a sea shell for Aphrodite.

Magick

- Use colors matching your intent. This can mean you wear a red shirt, or carry a blue pen, or carry a green handbag.

- Enchant your jewelry. You can make a bracelet for protection, earrings for love, a necklace for luck, etc.

- Enchant your makeup, lotion or hair products. You can also use your face cleanser as a magical cleanser as well.

- Sigils. Sigils are simple symbols with intent put into them. They can be easily mistaken for simple doodles or intricate designs.

Crystals, Herbs and Incense

- If you are planning on having herbs in your room/space, you may wish to keep them in mason jars rather than plastic baggies. Many ignorant people assume that any herb in a baggy is marijuana. I’ve had someone mistake chamomile for marijuana before…

- Drinking tea is an innocent way to incorporate herbs into any practice. Teas come in all sorts of blends and flavors (they also usually come in fancy tins that you can save!). If you have a well known fondness for tea, if you start to buy herbs to mix your own blends, most wouldn’t blink an eye.

- Gardening or house plants. This is an easy way to incorporate herbs and plants without drawing attention.

- Crystals are very pretty. Crystal and rock collecting is also a very common hobby.

- If you don’t have access to incense, use jar candles, wax melts (with the warmers) or any type of open-and-leave-it air fresheners.

Witchy Tools

- To make an easy pendulum, loop a piece of cord or string through a ring. The weight of the ring will act just like a pendulum. You can also use an old necklace or bracelet depending on the length of the chain.

- Playing cards instead of Tarot cards. If you have trouble remembering the cards, doodle little symbols on each card that help you remember. You can also use trading game cards (like Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh!) if the pictures help you more.

Grimoires and Witchy Books

- Depending on your living situation, a plain notebook may not deter nosey people from snooping. If you need an alternative, pick up an old book from a thrift shop to write notes in. You can add notes in the margins, write over the print with markers, or glue in your own pages. This way your grimoire can sit on your bookshelf and look completely innocent.

- Note taking apps. I recommend Tumblr for a secret witch, mainly because you can have a witchy side blog to hold all your notes and no one will know. However, there are also a lot of note-taking apps (like OneNote) that let you create various “notebooks” and sections.

- Planner notebooks or binders. Most planners have some sort of personal inserts that can be made that you can write witchy notes. It’s also a super easy way to keep track of moon cycles and sabbats. This also allows you to get super creative.

There are Slytherins who pluck petals from the daisy stems and giggle at love. Who write poetry about the stars and sunsets. There are Slytherins who are afraid of getting their ears pierced. Slytherins who wear bright colors: greens, and yellows, and pinks. There are Slytherins who cry, and there are Slytherins who will smile through the pain regardless. There are Slytherins who always make sure to perfect their makeup and Slytherins who wear slippers into public. There are Slytherins who names their cats after everyday objects and Slytherins who hate rainy weather. Slytherins who love the sun and those who wish that it were winter. There are Slytherins who wear nothing but t-shirts and Slytherins who wear lace and love to write in cursive, but there is no doubt that they are all Slytherins.

There are Hufflepuffs who sport skinned knees and scabbing knuckles. Who know how to throw a punch and aren’t afraid of starting a fight. There are Hufflepuffs who love diamond earrings and red lipstick. Hufflepuffs who stay up until 2 AM reading. There are Hufflepuffs who hide in the corners during social interactions, and there are Hufflepuffs who won’t bat an eye at being the center of attention. There are Hufflepuffs with tattoos snaking down their arms and Hufflepuffs who can’t stand waiting in line. There are Hufflepuffs who collect pressed flowers and Hufflepuffs who are afraid of bees. Hufflepuffs who are always smiling and those who aren’t. There are Hufflepuffs who see movies alone and Hufflepuffs who go to coffee shops every day with their friends, but one is never less of a Hufflepuff than another.

There are Ravenclaws who sleep for hours on end beneath a cocoon of blankets. Who wear socks that don’t match and drink too much coffee. There are Ravenclaws who slam books down with frustration. Ravenclaws who love running, and hikes, and physical activity. There are Ravenclaws who don’t understand chemistry, and there are Ravenclaws who can explain the science behind black holes as though it was the plot to their favorite movie. There are Ravenclaws who love wearing combat boots and Ravenclaws who adore jewelry. There are Ravenclaws who chew their nails when they’re nervous and Ravenclaws with perfect manicures. Ravenclaws who trip over their own feet and those who walk with certain poise. There are Ravenclaws who wear cozy sweaters to evade the cold and Ravenclaws who marvel at snowflakes, but despite their differences, they always know that they are Ravenclaws.

There are Gryffindors who spend hours in the morning perfecting their makeup. Whose high heels click as they walk down the sidewalk. There are Gryffindors who love asking questions. Gryffindors who like to paint and wear flowy skirts. There are Gryffindors who sing and play the violin, and there are Gryffindors so terribly tone deaf that people ask them to be quiet. There are Gryffindors who study ancient history and Gryffindors who are afraid of heights. There are Gryffindors who get lost easily and Gryffindors who are easily carsick. Gryffindors who think before they speak and those who say the first thing that comes to mind. There are Gryffindors who love wearing necklaces and bracelets and Gryffindors who doodle on their bare arms whenever they get bored, but no matter what, they are Gryffindors to the core.

[Article] BTS Is Back! The K-Pop Kings Talk Their New Album and Ever-Evolving Style

Just ahead of the release, the members sat down for an exclusive interview with Vogue to break down their new look and evolving personal style. Despite a long day of filming and dance rehearsals, they were in good spirits, laughing and chattering happily. “Let’s go!” J-Hope said. Here, we do.

Q. Tell us about the new visual concept for this album. What kind of style did you pick to express it?

Suga: It’s about boys falling in love. There are four versions of love, and we shot four different photos to show them. Though each one is different, the same feeling of love comes through in every shot. There’s a sense of playfulness, of friends hanging out comfortably at home in their free time, and that kind of fluttering feeling. Visually, we cover a lot of ground.

The lyrics and the music themselves are about finding your fate. In this album, we cover a wide range of songs: There are high-energy ones, very hip-hop ones. It’s quite diverse. To match it, the style covers a range of colorful, sporty, leisure, and boyish clothes. They go well together: powerful music, colorful clothes.

J-Hope: It’s very colorful and sporty, overall. I think there’s a slightly retro feel, too. Among the seven members, I think we each kind of bring out our hidden boyishness through our clothes.

Suga: It’s totally different. When we did You Never Walk Alone, we wore a lot of casual clothes. This time, it’s a lot flashier. Super colorful, yet more high-end and comfortable at the same time. More of that comforting feeling.

J-Hope: Right, this time we wanted to show more of that boyish style.

Q. How would you describe BTS’s style in general, looking back across your work?

Rapmon: Just style.

Jimin: Truthfully, we have a very energetic style, I would say.

Q. A lot has been said about the kind of individuality you hope to express as a band. Is that something that comes into play with your style, letting each member’s own persona come through?

Jimin: Of course; it’s important. With each new album, we do a lot of fittings. And each time we do those fittings, we talk a lot and always share our thoughts as we go. We put a lot of effort into looking for clothes that express ourselves and the feelings we want to express with each album’s concept. We want to show that, [but] without losing our individuality either.

V: I don’t think we have one signature. With each concept, we change it up completely and the styles have been so diverse. For “Boy in Luv,” we wore school uniforms. For “Blood, Sweat & Tears,” it was a range of suits and white shirts. As artists, we have to change our style to match each concept. We’re always changing, ever changing.

Q. Do you have a favorite piece you wore for this comeback?

Suga: I loved all the oversize shirts.

Jungkook: Me too. There’s a loose, navy chiffon shirt I wore with slacks that was particularly light and comfortable. I liked that a lot.

J-Hope: I liked wearing those basketball jerseys, and those ultra-colorful sweaters, too.

Rapmon: There was a really big windbreaker that I liked because it was so big.

V: I liked everything, but the accessories most of all. Particularly all the rings and earrings, I liked those the most.

Jimin: For me, it was the bright red shirt from “DNA.”

Q. Who do you think has changed the most since you debuted?

J-Hope: V?

Suga: V has changed a lot, and Jimin changed a lot.

Rapmon: Jungkook, too.

Q. In what way?

Jimin: We’ve all gotten old.

J-Hope: Our maknae line [the youngest members] has changed a lot. They are the youngest and looked it when we debuted, but now, they look more grown-up.

Jin: Like Jimin. Overall, his face changed from cute to sexy.

Q. What do you want most for this comeback?

Suga: To make the Billboard Hot 100 is my dream.

J-Hope: Let’s get it! Dream!

Rapmon: I would like all the members to be healthy.

J-Hope: Health!

Suga: It’s the most important thing, really.

Jimin: I would like to be 3 centimeters taller.

V: For real. I want to have wide shoulders like Jin.

Jimin: Me too [laughs]. For real.

Suga: If everyone could be happy, I would be happy.

J-Hope: Peace!

Jungkook: For me, I’d like to travel a lot. Anywhere would be great. And if I could learn to speak English and Japanese well, that would be great, too.

J-Hope: I also would like the members to be healthy and happy. And everyone else, all our fans.

Q. Any last words for your American fans?

J-Hope: Of course, American Army.

Suga: No matter what, our American Army is so big, and we are so very thankful to them. From now on, we want to put on even cooler performances, be cooler, be better, so look forward to it. Please, always look forward to it.

V: Thank you! We love American Army so much!

Q. Tell us about your personal style. What are you into lately?

V: In my case, I like to pick one piece that pops against everything else. I like flashy shirts, or I’ll wear a simple shirt with a fancy necktie. I also like vintage pieces, more standout ones. I’ll go to certain boutiques and look for clothes without labels. You can find a lot of nice unbranded shirts, and I wear those a lot.

Jimin: To be honest, I don’t think much about style, or “oh, this is my style,” that sort of thing. I follow my mood, which is so different day to day. Generally, I like a wide range of styles, but lately, I’ve been reaching for comfortable, simple things. Simple slacks and shirts.

Jungkook: Are you familiar with the term paealmot [fashion-know-nothing]? I don’t know anything about fashion. So for me, I reach for anything comfortable. I wear a lot of athleisure and workout clothes—sweatpants and sweatshirts—as I like to stay active.

Jin: I like to dress warmly, comfortably as I go around. Naturally I like easy fashion. My style is clean, polished, and gentle looking. Or you could say I prefer to wear big sweatshirts and hoodies.

J-Hope: I’m into streetwear, and more colorful looks. These days, bags have become more of a thing for me—these mini cross bags are so great.

Suga: These days I’m wearing a lot of Jordans, those sneakers. I’ve been wearing a lot of slippers, too, and comfortable clothes in general. I really like that kind of oversize fit.

Rap Monster: These days, I’m most into staying comfortable. I do have a lot of interest in Japanese brands, so I’ve been looking at cool Japanese hyungs [older brothers] and carefully studying their style. Brands like WTAPS, Visvim, I like a lot.

Q.  What is one item you can’t live without?

V: I like old-school, vintage-style glasses a lot. As for accessories, I really like them all.

Jimin: I like accessories a lot. Hats, caps, beanies, I like all of them. I also look for special standout earrings, rings, necklaces … I like to layer them on heavily.

Jungkook: I don’t like accessories all that much, except for hats. I like bucket hats and beanies a lot, and I sometimes wear rings or bracelets. I’m the kind of person that if I put it on once, I’ll leave it on forever.

Jin: I like silver accessories. I think they suit me well.

J-Hope: I like hats a lot—bucket hats, sun caps, beanies, and fitted caps. And like I said before, I like bags a lot. I like shoes that stand out, too. Lately, I’ve been wearing a lot of running shoes, the kind that look good with very wide pants.

Suga: I also love accessories, especially bracelets and rings. King rings, the really big ones. I’ll wear a lot of them at once.

Rap Monster: I like hats. As for a favorite … I like all of them, though? Really. I wear hats all the time.

Q.  How much interest do you have in fashion?

Jin: “How do I mix and match these things together … ” I tend to stand in front of the closet worrying like that.

Q.  Who is your style icon right now?

V: I don’t have a big role model at the moment, but later on, I would like to channel [actor] Ryoo Seung-bum [who is known for his unique style].

Jimin: I don’t have one exactly, but I like to look on the Internet for cool, well-dressed people and get inspired that way.

Jungkook: I am my own role model. I want to follow myself.

Jin: [Actor] Kang Dong Won. The clothes he wears, it’s the fit and style I like.

J-Hope: I like A$AP Rocky. How to put it … he dresses on-trend, but he also dresses for himself. He’s made his own style. It’s hip, but has a clean, polished kind of feel. That whole A$AP Mob style, I like.

Suga: Like Jungkook, I don’t really have one. I just look for what I like and what I feel comfortable wearing.

Rap Monster: Cool hyungs I look up to, even people I pass on the street in Seoul. People dress so well here, it’s easy to get inspired.

You don’t need fashion designers when you are young. Have faith in your own bad taste. Buy the cheapest thing in your local thrift shop - the clothes that are freshly out of style with even the hippest people a few years older than you. Get on the fashion nerves of your peers, not your parents - that is the key to fashion leadership. Ill-fitting is always stylish. But be more creative - wear your clothes inside out, backward, upside down. Throw bleach in a load of colored laundry. Follow the exact opposite of the dry cleaning instructions inside the clothes that cost the most in your thrift shop. Don’t wear jewelry - stick Band-Aids on your wrists or make a necklace out of them. Wear Scotch tape on the side of your face like a bad face-lift attempt. Mismatch your shoes. Best yet, do as Mink Stole used to do: go to the thrift store the day after Halloween, when the children’s trick-or-treat costumes are on sale, buy one, and wear it as your uniform of defiance.

Figure Skating Charms and a Wealth of Nuance

Haha…so…*guiltily posts this months later* I had this in my drafts 70% completed since episode 10 came out, but with episode 11 and 12 the fandom exploded on other issues, and I thought it was kind of irrelevant since the rings have so many layers of meaning already. But in PASH magazine’s March issue, Kubo-sensei actually brings this up.

I ended up cleaning this post and after finding out that @sachiro was going to make a similar post, we decided to have “pair posts” to submit for victuuriweek. You can read their yoi meta here , which discusses and connects specific moments throughout the series to the points I’ll lay out in the second half of this post.

About Yuuri’s charm. Yuuri has a figure skating precedent for buying jewelry to act as a charm - it isn’t a blasé “lots of good stuff around here…yeah, rings can make good charms, right? idk, but I’m doing it anyway.” Here’s yet another layer.

Charms are a legitimate THING in figure skating.

You won’t read about this in figure skating intros or on Wikipedia, and you won’t hear commentators talk about it either (if it’s brought up, consider it a stroke of luck and immediately save that video/interview forever). Unless you follow skaters to the point of knowing about their personal lives, then this is one meaningful aspect of figure skating that is easy to miss.
