“Koutarou, we’re going to be late!“
“Coming!” An eight-year-old Bokuto shoves a volleyball into
his backpack, swings it over his shoulder and runs out the bedroom and down the
“What’s in your backpack?” his mother asks as Bokuto halts
in front of her.
She cocks her head to the side and rests a hand on her hip.
I thought about writing this but I’m not sure if I will, so for now, I will write a small headcanon because I need to share this or it will die in my throat.
so, we all know that Hinami is now the mischevious fairy, and she likes flowers. She likes flowers a lot. She’s also the light of Goat, bringing coffee to everyone when they are tired from work, or just offering them encouraging words to cheer them up when hope seems lost. She’s that spark of life inside a place that sometimes gets darker than death, and everyone’s faces brighten a bit more every time she’s near. So whilst everybody are working hard and making plans and being busy, Hinami likes to buy flowers and give them to everyone while no one’s looking. She would buy different types of flowers depending on each person—hydrangeas for Touka, roses for Tsukiyama, etc etc—she would place a couple flowers inside Touka’s empty cups so she would find them inside at the time of making coffee. She likes to place random flowers on Tsukiyama’s head when he’s sleeping. She gives Naki and Miza the same kind of flowers (wink wink) and hides white flowers inside Kaneki’s mask/books—which is super cool because then the mask and books smell delicious. So, one day, Ayato was kinda bored.
“Ugh, what a shitty day, there’s nothing to do.”
but Touka looks at him with that bitchy-sassy Kirishima expression.
“There’s nothing to do, huh? then be useful for once and go buy me some coffee beans.”
“Huh? No way. Ask the four-eyes idiot to do it.”
then beautiful Hinami magically appears, hearing the conversation, and she’s like “oh! are you going out? let’s go together! I ran out of flowers, I have to buy more.”
And Ayato is like, “w-what? but—”
Hinami grabs him by the arm, dragging him out of the store and Touka huffs, staring at the way Ayato follows Hinami with no objections. She sighs, resuming her work, while Ayato follows an eager Hinami way to the flower shop. Once they arrive, Ayato blurts out a sigh and says “ugh, Hinami… what are we even doing here…”
but Hinami keeps walking and taking a closer look at each flower.
“I want to buy the same flowers for onee-chan and onii-chan this time, but I’m not sure which ones should I choose.”
Ayato kinda giggles like pffff, good luck with that, and he follows her super bored because he thinks the flower shop is stupid until Hinami screams, making him jump in his place, and she grabs a flower and shows it to him super excited.
“Look! It looks like a rabbit!”
Ayato frowns, looking at the flower. It kinda looks like a rabbit, the petals imitating the large and fluffy ears, but he shrugs still. He doesn’t get it.
She gasps, overwhelmed.
“What do you mean by so what? It means that it’s your flower! Come on, let’s buy these instead.”
“Hina, what the hell, don’t—”
She obviously doesn’t listen, she pays for the flowers and once they leave the shop, she starts taking some flowers out of the bouquet and tells Ayato to hold the bag for a second.
“What are you doing?”
“Stay still,” she responds, and Ayato paralyzes when her hands travel to his mussed hair. “I’m gonna make you a crown.”
Ayato’s body quivers and stares at her like crazy.
“What the fuck—”
“Ayato, behave!” she scolds. She doesn’t like when he cusses. “It’s just a crown.”
He tries to pull away, snorting.
“Hinami—f-fuck… stop it, everyone’s watching us!” the boy is in pain. “I’m gonna look like an idiot!”
And people was already staring at them.
“Okay, okay!” she gives up, sighing in frustration. “No crown. Just rabbit ears.”
“Are you fucking kidd—”
“Ayato,” she warns, looking serious as hell. “Rabbit ears.”
After an intense gaze that lasts for almost twelve seconds, Ayato sighs, cheeks dyeing red, and murmurs a sheepish and stilled “okay.”
Hinami smiles brightly and she’s like YAAAAAAY and Ayato’s heart stops and she turns the flowers into beautiful bunny ears that decorate Ayato’s head. “You look so cute,” she finishes, proud of herself, and Ayato can’t find the courage to answer, he’s way too embarrassed to even look at her in the eyes.
They leave to buy the coffee beans and once he has forgotten that he has rabbit ears on top of his head, he looks at her.
“What about your flowers?”
“What do you mean?”
“You are picking up different flowers for everyone like a psycho. But which ones are your flowers?”
She smiles, and her fingers travel to the pretty hairband decorating her hair.
“Clovers,” she answers, like sharing a powerful secret. “I like the white four-leaf clovers, but those are hard to find, I haven’t seen them in that store.”
Ayato doesn’t reply, and once they arrive at :re again, Ayato has to deal with Touka and Nishiki mocking at his rabbit ears.
“BUAHAHHAHA, WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED WITH YOUR HA—”
two days later, after staying up till late helping Miza with some stuff, Hinami went to sleep and stood in bed all day until afternoon, feeling the sunlight caressing her cheeks through the window. She blinked a couple times, sighing, and when she opened her eyes, she found a small bouquet of white clovers with four leafs on top of the pillow, right in front of her face. With drowsy eyes, her fingers grabbed the flowers, suddenly remembering her previous confession to Ayato days ago. Her heart fluttered a little, and placed the flowers against nose, smelling the sweet fragrance.
Her lips curve into a beautiful smile as her eyes fall shut again.
This became longer than I wanted to, but here it goes - my take on the friendship triangle of Archie, Betty and Jughead:
I don’t doubt at all that Betty loves Archie and will always love Archie or that she had this monumental crush on him because he will always represent that comfortable piece of her life when things were easier and simpler and they didn’t have to worry about such things as parental manipulation, sexual abuse, neglect or the general pitfalls of becoming an adult.
Betty probably thought Archie could still fulfill that role of childhood companion into their adolescence and young adult life with the extra benefit of also being a lover, but unfortunately Archie was not there yet. And it is okay. I think the story the show is trying to tell this season, which combined with Archie’s and Jughead’s friendship, is that there is a point in our lives that our friend’s experiences and our own diverge to a point which can result in either the perpetuation of that friendship because we still relate to it all or we end up drifting in opposite directions, becoming a mere fond memory of a increasingly distant childhood. And I repeat, it is natural and it is okay. Betty and Archie’s experience are both still validly difficult (his parents are getting a divorce after all) but vastly different. Archie still has a lot growing up to do while Betty has been navigating a troublesome family with mental health issues for quite some time which he must know about btw but can’t quite relate, just like Betty couldn’t quite relate with Archie’s experience of being a victim of Ms Grundy.
And here is where Jughead comes in. Betty’s and Jughead’s stories fit in a way I don’t think either was actually counting on. It was a nice surprise. They can empathise with each other because they are both struggling with parental abuse: her with overprotection and gaslighting, him with neglect and abandonment. Again, I am not saying Archie’s life doesn’t have valid struggle in it, because it does, but it is a different kind of struggle while Bughead’s is fundamentally similar.
But imagine this: from childhood these three lives went in parallel lines to each other, each their own with different colours and different shapes, but running next to each other and going in the same unavoidable direction that is adulthood. But at some point they start taking different turns. Jughead’s father starts to drink, Betty’s sister runs away from home and Archie’s parent are fighting at home. And this goes on and on and each turn they take their lines sometimes cross each other (Betty promises to marry Archie when they are 18), sometimes move in different direction (Jughead never tells any of them his father is a Serpent), and sometimes they go back to run in parallel (Betty is still Archie’s best friend, who in turn is still Jughead’s best friend).
But at some point in time and space Archie’s line just went one way, while Jughead’s and Betty’s went the other. Archie might have been oblivious, but I believe Betty has been fighting this whole time to try to keep those lines close together while Jughead is also doing the same from his end with his obsession for the Riverdale of old and the “American Dream”, Archie being the archetypical character in his nostalgic dreams (that knife in his back bears so many connotations). In both cases, Archie is still the centre piece.
But then everything that summer comes to a head, Jughead is planning a trip with ‘Archie and Betty finally decides to take their friendship to another level… but both of them fail. Big time. He is snubbed and she is rejected while Archie continued to be clueless about any of the implications.
When Jughead finds out that Archie slighted him for Ms Grundy, I think it really put a fissure in their friendship. The same way I think what really crushed Betty’s expectations of a romantic happy ending with Archie was his “You are so perfect” speech. I think that really broke her heart because how could this boy who lived next door, who was her best friend and knew her their whole life not see her. Truly see her. And it was the first time she realised their paths might not be going in the same direction after all.
They will always be the best of friends, but they are definitely drifting apart and on her way there she found a kindred spirit in Jughead, another cast away of friendship’s tortuous ways, when before she was sure Archie’s was the right path for her. How far will they drift away from each other, and how much will Jughead’s and Betty’s line become intertwined, is what we will have to wait for.
😘 anon requested a ryden one-shot with “Ryan being overprotective and like so coveting of Brendon. Like protects him and loves him and Brendon appreciates it and is all heart eyes and completely gone for him.” and something with Ryan stepping in when someone makes Brendon uncomfortable in public.
Don’t tell me there’s only one way to live.
Because I won’t choose to live if that’s the case.
Don’t tell me you can only find peace in one place.
Because love I won’t want peace than.
Don’t give me absolute truths.
Because honey I can’t live and accept that.
Don’t tell me what to believe.
Because dear one I won’t be able to believe anything if you do that.

So I have this series of “Jedi School” snippets that I thought I would work into a novel-length story someday, but it doesn’t seem to be happening. They’re loosely connected vignettes about Luke and his first four students, who are all OCs. Leia, Han, and their son Ben turn up now and then, too.
They’re not canon-compliant or even 100% consistent in their own timeline, but I think to at least some degree each little story can stand alone.
What do y’all think, should I go ahead and start posting them as a series? Would anyone want to read them?
guys i’m sorry, i know i have a ton of unanswered prompts in my inbox and i really do intend to respond to all of them, it’s just that i haven’t really had the inspiration/confidence to write anything worthwhile lately
but i promise i will get to them as soon as i’m able to
