  • I have worked my ass off at a vanilla job, teaching pre-school 45 hours a week while trying to go to school and make high enough grades to keep my scholarships. It kicked my ass. I did nothing but go to work, go to class, come home and do homework. I lived with my best girlfriends and sometimes I would go days without having time to have conversation with them.
  • Until I started escorting and sugaring. It is not fun or rewarding, but you know what is? Getting to volunteer during the day, because I don't work all damn day. Getting to make art on the weekends. Getting to take myself to brunch on Sunday mornings. Getting to read books that have been on my list forever. Getting to stay after class and talk with my professor because I don't have to rush to work in the next 15 minutes. Being able to give a homeless person 20 bucks and not thinking a thing about it.
  • NEVER let anyone shame you for "not having a real job"
  • You are young, you are beautiful, you are earning your money, you deserve this extra time.

What do you think of Pelosi's statement that reproductive rights are a pretty settled question so the Dems don't have to be strict in requiring their candidates to support them? I saw a lot of rightful anger at Bernie but a lot of silence about that, not that it's news, Tim Kaine was the VP pick, but for her to outright state it like that...

I fucking hate it.

I mean, I also can barely bring myself to be mad at Pelosi during this of all possible times because she was a fucking general last week and I want to give her the credit she deserves for keeping everyone united and in line. 

But I fucking hate it because the most frightening question to me right now is who is going to be abandoned in the quest to build a new left-of-center coalition that can defeat Trump and Ryan?  

I am, for example, not personally invested in hating Bernie.  I really want to be pro-Bernie and to give him the credit that he absolutely deserves for pushing the Overton window hard and for proving that you can get really far with young, educated voters with an aggressively left-wing agenda.  If nothing else, Bernie’s populism is the real deal that Trump is the grotesque imitation of.  But Bernie is also  stand-in for a push towards economic populism that isn’t so much actively sexist or racist as it is assuming that the white male lens on economic issues is the universal one and that women and people of color have specific identity based issues that can be treated as add-ons with varying degrees of importance.  What’s the Matter with Kansas came out  almost 15 years ago and I think Trump’s victory should demonstrate that it’s message is either way more complicated in 2017 or was dangerously naive even at the time.

I’m also concerned that an Obama-style coalition is going to get lazy on abortion because there’s not going to be as much passion on the pro-choice side.  This article, which I cannot recommend enough if you want something to both inform and terrify you, raises these concerns first by profiling women like Purvi Patel who have already gone to prison for having abortions (Patel was sentenced to 20 years for feticide).   And then discussing how the availability and effectiveness of  misoprostol might worsen the existing class/race differences in how women get abortions. 

For example, when my middle-class sister was a pregnant junkie just out of rehab, she didn’t have to go to an abortion clinic. She went to the primary care provider whom she’d known since she was a toddler, was given misoprostol in an environment of respect and privacy….because she was middle class. Are the differences in how women get abortions going to become even starker? Are only the abortions of poor women, women of color, or mentally ill women going to be socially visible? Are the exact kind of women that we tend to turn away from going to be the women that go to prison for having abortions? I mean, after all Purvi Patel and Bei Bei Shuai (who was also prosecuted under Pence) were women of color (it is also not insignificant that they are both Asian, since Asian women have been especially targeted by racist anti-abortion laws) struggling with mental illness, and just struggling in general.  They were women that it’s easy for feminists to forget about, or to not find sympathetic.  

If women with means are less and less likely to have to have abortions then are we going to stop caring about the women who do? Are we going to assume that reproductive rights are settled because Nancy Pelosi’s daughter and granddaughters have access?

This is the first time I've thought about requesting something since I absolutely ADORE your blog and I've just been admiring from afar ^_^ Although I understand if you currently don't have time to write as well :) Was wondering if you could do Takeru, Tsukito, Baldr and Hades when their S/O succumbs to an illness that leaves them unconscious for a week or two, their behaviour during that week and then their reaction when said S/O finally awakens.

Doing this in HC form because I don’t have it in me to try and drabble all of these >.< Bless you for this request  !! (P.s. I don’t know medically what causes people to be unconscious for long periods of time so I’m gonna go with brief moments of unconsciousness, enough to scare the boys)

  • The doctor says it’s just low blood sugar and you’re going to be okay
  • But when you passed out in class, he freaked
  • He sits by your bed and keeps a tough face when people come in
  • but he was so worried about you
  • He doesn’t like to think of you not being able to wake up from something
  • When no one else is in the room he whispers to you
  • telling you how much he loves you and please feel better
  • You wake up soon after and he’s so relieved he kisses you
  • “Don’t scare me like that again.” He says with a sigh
  • he presses his forehead to yours and tells you he loves you
  • you put your hand on his cheek and tell him he’s such a worry wart
  • but that you love him too and you heard his sweet whispers of affection
  • and he blushes, but pulls you into a hug anyway


  • Okay for real if anyone is prepared for this, it’s him
  • He will sit by your bed reading up on traumatic brain injury
  • taking notes of everything the doctor says
  • he is confident in the doctor’s diagnosis and knows you will wake up soon
  • but he’s still very nervous internally
  • I mean, you’ve been unconscious for 4 days and he’s scared
  • he misses hearing your voice and watching the moon with you
  • he tries to keep himself busy with school work but he always finds himself checking your machines and reading your file to try to better understand what’s happening
  • finally FINALLY after a week you wake up
  •  He hasn’t left the room once
  • He jumps up and takes your hand and kisses it
  • “You really worried me”
  • “What happened? Where am I?” You ask as you groan 
  • “Here.” He says handing you his notebook with all his notes in it. 
  • you read it slowly as he calls for the doctor
  • You can’t believe the extent of his notes and know how worried he must have been
  • “I love you.” You tell him and he smiles because he knows and he loves you too
  • more than he’ll ever be able to show you

  • “WELL FIGURE IT OUT.” He says threateningly low to the doctor who told him they don’t know why you won’t wake up. 
  • This boy doesn’t play around when it comes to you
  • His naturally happy and playful demeanor is gone and he’s angry

  • he can’t do anything to help you and that makes him anxious
  • so he takes it out on the doctors
  • “Make her better,” He tells the nurse angrily every time she comes to check your vitals
  • But when it’s just you and him
  • He brushes back your hair and fixes your pillows. 
  • “Are you comfortable, my love?” He asks sweetly in your ear
  • He knows you can hear him even though the doctor’s say you can’t
  • so when you’re alone he tells you about his home and his past
  • he tells you about Loki and Thor and when he runs out of stories, he makes up tales of a princess who stole a prince’s heart
  • he says you’re the princess 
  • you’re his princess
  • he starts crying because he misses hearing your voice
  • “Please wake up. I can’t do this without you.”
  • Your eyes open slowly and you reach to pull his hand away from his face because he’s crying
  • “I’m not going anywhere, my prince.” You say hoarsely and his eyes go wide.
  • You could hear him after all. 
  • “I missed you.” He says quietly and leans forward to kiss your forehead.

  • In his head, you were dying. and it was his fault. 
  • He’s such a failure. He doesn’t deserve to sit by your bed. He has to run away. 
  • As he stands up to leave, you mumble, “Don’t go.”

  • but gods he can’t deny you anything he loves you so much
  • “I’m here, sweetheart. I’m not going anywhere.” 
  • When you finally wake up, it feels like a weight has been lifted off his chest.

Thank you so much for your suggestion but I sorta update like this for a reason. It gives me more free time in what I want to do. If I posted once a week it gives me a big deadline to do with so much work already, which I know will stress me out. Also you will have to wait a whole week to know what will happen next. so I have a question. my bmr is 1450. I work out five times a week though and eat 1600 calories a day, because I am still trying to lose weight. However, I am unsure if i am supposed to only eat 1600 even when I work out, or if i'm supposed to eat 1600 and then eat back whatever I lost during exercise to net 1600 a day. i don't want to eat too few calories, but I still want to lose weight. any help?

What is a BMR?

Your BMR or Basal Metabolic Rate is the number of calories your body burns while at rest. This doesn’t mean the calories you burn on a rest day lightly doing yoga or chores around the house. This means the number of calories your body would burn if you were laying in bed all day or if you were in a coma.

Why can’t I cut calories from my BMR?

Cutting calories from your BMR deprives your body of essential nutrients it needs to perform everyday functions. You will not be able to perform on a level you want to and your body will suffer from this in the long run.

How can I find my BMR?

You can find your BMR by using this formula based on height, weight, and age:

In pounds/inches

Women: BMR = 655 + ( 4.35 x weight in pounds ) + ( 4.7 x height in inches ) - ( 4.7 x age in years )
Men: BMR = 66 + ( 6.23 x weight in pounds ) + ( 12.7 x height in inches ) - ( 6.8 x age in year )

In kilos/centimeters

Women: BMR = 655 + ( 9.6 x weight in kilos ) + ( 1.8 x height in cm ) - ( 4.7 x age in years )
Men: BMR = 66 + ( 13.7 x weight in kilos ) + ( 5 x height in cm ) - ( 6.8 x age in years )

How do I find my Daily Calorie Needs from my BMR?

There are different methods of finding your Daily Calorie Needs but a very simple and useful one is the Harris Benedict Equation:

If you are sedentary (little or no exercise)

  • BMR x 1.2

If you are lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week)

  • BMR x 1.375

If you are moderatetely active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week) 

  • BMR x 1.55

If you are very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week)

  • BMR x 1.725

If you are extra active (very hard exercise/sports & physical job or 2x training) 

  • BMR x 1.9

How many calories do I need to lose/maintain/gain weight?

To maintain you need to consume your Daily Calorie Needs but going slightly over or slightly under some days won’t affect you much. In order to lose weight, the generally accepted number to subtract from your Daily Calorie Needs is 500 or 250 for a 1lb or 1/2lb weight loss per week. Your body doesn’t need you to cut calories to be healthy and get to the right weight/place it needs to be. Being healthy is your ultimate goal so never cut too much because this is your body’s essential needs and energy you are taking away from. To gain weight you can do the opposite of losing and add 500 or 250 to you Daily Calorie Needs.

My absolute worst pet peeve is when fitblrs and posts tell people to cut calories from their BMR to lose weight. You should never cut calories from your BMR. Ever.

I'm just so scared losing everyone around me. I'm so scared to be alone and I don't know what to do. I'm fine during the day most times, but at night I freak out. I'm about to be a senior this coming school year, it just feels like everything's going by to fast. And I'm so scared. Advice?

Don’t fear! Everyone feels that way! ESPECIALLY during senior year! There’s so many things coming at you from so many directions! Taking one day at a time plus finding and surrounding yourself in happiness also helps! Death is something we always tried to avoid and to be honest why should you bring it up , we all know it’s there but you weren’t put on the earth to die but to Live and to learn, smile,cry, take chances and have defeats and get yourself up and live harder! take note of all the special moments in your life and I promise you will be laughing in the face of death! “Ha death, you silly silly thing you” lol

I think the picture you’re talking about is from LA back in April 2016. Although Sam had a shopping bag, I think it was later said that they were actually leaving the LA Times panel, not shopping together. Who knows though. Could have gone shopping earlier in the day ;)

For the last week I have been super tired: I've been getting home and falling straight asleep, and sleeping for 12+ hours. On Friday I had a very important history report due, which I hadn't done any of bc I'd had no time to do schoolwork bc I'd been sleeping. My teacher was very disappointed in me, but gave me an extension until Monday. It's now Saturday, and every time I try to start on the report, I have a panic attack and just start crying, and I can't do it. I really don't know what to do.


School is tiring especially the last few weeks before the end of semester. I have never slept over 12 hours (my maximum was 10 hours…). If you are sleeping this much is most likely due the amount of school work, maybe work, lack of sleep during the night and other factors.

It is good that your teacher is somewhat understanding and gave you an extension, but the teacher is still expecting your report on Monday.

Starting the Difficult Task:

This report may be stressing you, but you will feel much better when you hand it in. Starting it is the most difficult task. Regardless what it is, starting something is difficult. 

You not necessarily need to be super motivated to get started on the assignment. You just need focus. Have tried working on your assignment with some background music? 

- 8tracks, Youtube and Coffitivity are just some sites that I listen to when I have to write an essay, complete an assignment. The essays, assignments are not fun but the music seem to help with the stress and make time flies by quicker.

* If you like Rain, rainymood is a good site.


As long as the report is completed, your teacher will be content(depends also on the content of the report). You might not want to work on it all in one shot because the task seems difficult and extremely long. 

For this reason, I suggest that you use a timer(Pomodoro Timer, 30/30 app) and follow this system. Work for 25 minutes on your report and then take a 5 minute break. Repeat for about four times and take a long break. 

You might not be able to focus for a longtime especially with the stress about less than half and hour should be alright.

  • Example:
  • 25 minutes of work: Work #1
  • 5 minutes break: Break #1
  • 25 minutes of work: Work #2
  • 5 minutes break: Break #2
  • 25 minutes of work: Work #3
  • 5 minutes break: Break #3
  • 25 minutes of work: Work #4
  • 15 minutes break: Break #4(Long Break)
  • and repeat..

Snacks + Drinks:

It will be difficult to write your report on an empty stomach. I suggest that you have some small snacks on your desk (chewy bars, mini candy bars) and some kind of drink (water, coffee, hot chocolate, tea). This way, you will be able to eat something if you do get hunger without having to leave your desk.


if you wish, changing locations can help. Although, I do not suggest working on your report on sitting on your bed(you might be sleepy). I have seen some people work on your reports at café, kitchen tables, outside, even on their bedroom floor.
