and then this scene came on and i lost it

#Can we talk about this? #This scene takes my breath away. #Every time i see it my whole body shakes and my tears start coming out of my eyes. #She has just remembered the love of her life. #She has just remembered how scared she was when she knew he was going to be taken and she couldn’t do anything for him. #She wasn’t able to say a word. She wasn’t able to do anything to stop the ghost riders and help Stiles. #She was too scared to lose him. #And all of those feelings came back to her. #And she feels guilty about it, because she knows now she could have stopped them from taking Stiles, but she didn’t do anything. #She lost him and she never get to say him how she feels. #She never got to say him she loves her back.

  • <b> Jungkook:</b> Okay, I guess... you?
  • <b> Taehyung, looking really offended:</b> Are you saying you don't like Jimin? Are you blind?

Ciel’s “.......”

Ch 62:

Madam Red: Ciel!! […] I’m so happy…! You, at least, are safe.

Our Ciel: ……

Ch58:

Lizzy: I can’t believe my eyes!! It really is you, isn’t it, Ciel!?

Our Ciel: ……

It’s really heartbreaking to imagine how our Ciel must have felt when everyone was like “CIEL!! I’m glad you’re alive!” when he came back. Sure, it was his idea, his own decision to pretend to be “Ciel” and to deceive everyone, but I think the ellipses in these two scenes might be a sign of his hesitation and also feelings of guilt about lying. Especially in Lizzy’s case, our Ciel purposely avoided answering her crucial question “Are you really Ciel!?”.

We don’t know yet why our Ciel decided to take on his brother’s name, but whatever the reason, the fact that a 10-year-old boy, who literally went through hell for one month and lost his parents and his brother at once, couldn’t just say “No, I’m not Ciel, I’m [our Cie’s true name]” but had to lie to the bereaved is so sad.

EDIT:

bluevii said: maybe it’s also him wondering if they would be *this* happy to see him if he didn’t pretend he was Ciel, Lizzy was Ciel fiancé and Madam Red favoured Ciel right?

A/N: Plz read the first part, if you haven't already. This is a dark and filthy story! Graphic descriptions of sex (masturbating, etc), heavy dom/sub undertones, drug use, vulgar language use……(alot of smut comes in later) This is a mature read! You have been warned!

“Do you wanna see what happens when you try to trick a demon?”

His dark intimidating eyes are staring directly into yours, making you feel like you’re his prey. His grip on your chin is stern, and you feel as if there is no escape from him. You’re drowning in his musky cologne, which makes you close your eyes in a haze. How were you supposed to get out of this? He literally caught you in a lie, and you could tell by his voice that he wasn’t too happy about it.

His grip on your chin slowly increases in pressure, causing you to panic.

“Y/n……….” he purrs. “I asked you a question, and I’m feeling extremely inpatient.”

Cleaning up after the mess that is PotC 5 *UPDATED*

Ok so I was thinking about how they completely screwed the lore up for Jack Sparrow, so I’m gonna have a go at piecing together his origin story, among other things. Please poke holes/ tell me where I’m wrong because I want to get this refined.

  • Problem: Jack’s compass was bartered from Tia Dalma, but in 5 he got it from a crewman. Solution: Jack did, in fact, get the compass from the crewman but later lost it at sea when Beckett sank the Pearl. It came to Tia Dalma (Calypso) who recognised its power and Jack had to later barter it from her to retrieve it.
  • Problem: the Wicked Wench was shown as a pirate ship, but Jack worked for the navy (’people aren’t cargo’ scene). Solution: The Wench was a pirate ship when she was under control of the previous captain seen in 5, but when he died and she became Jack’s ship, Jack decides to join the navy and work under Beckett (he was still very young + not yet branded and probably saw it as the best thing to do). When Beckett asked Jack to ship slaves, he liberated them, got branded, etc. and the ship sank. This explains the pirate flag in 5 and also the problem of ‘Why would Beckett sink a navy ship just to get back at Jack?’ Jack goes on to make a deal with Davy Jones and you know the rest.
  • UPDATED Problem: Jack is a gallant hero and very intelligent, so why was he ‘drunk’ the whole time? This one really pisses me off personally Solution: it’s been however-many years since Jack has been on sea, as we saw in one of the scenes the thing he desires most is to sail again, so it could be excused that he wishes to drown his sorrows 24/7, considering he’s no longer a ‘wanted’ or famous pirate, he doesn’t have a ship or much of a crew and his friends aren’t in contact with him. *ALSO Angelica has the voodoo doll of Jack, as seen at the end of 4. This could be the reason for his misfortune and *ahem* strange behaviour. Thank you to the person who suggested this to me!
  • Problem: Why does Will Turner have barnacle-face when we know that this only happens to those who do not fulfil their duty (i.e. Davy Jones)?  Solution: Will did not have barnacle-face up until that point. It could be assumed he was doing his job well and then noticed Henry was drowning and stopped ferrying the dead in order to save him, i.e. as soon as he ‘crossed-over’ he gained the barnacles. This would explain why Will only had a few barnacles and not ‘transformed’ like Jones.
  • Problem: Why is Elizabeth in a dress and corset when the whole point of the first movie was freeing her from it? AARGH I hate this one aswell, completely undermines Elizabeth. Oh wellSolution: Elizabeth felt it necessary to return to civilization to raise Henry, she did not want him involved in piracy for his own good and therefore didn’t talk about Jack. At the time, a woman such as Elizabeth would have been known in civilized culture as ‘governor’s daughter’ rather than ‘pirate king’, so she has to live up to this name in order to be accepted in that society (remember we’re talking 18th century here). She doesn’t have her husband, Jack or even mentor!Barbossa to help ‘free her’ from these expectations
  • EDITED Problem: When, in the time between being cursed, dead, looking for Jack, joining the navy and controlling the ocean did Barbossa have time to have a wife and child? Solution: After the events of AWE,  he had Smyth as a wife, who later became pregnant and died in childbirth, afraid that Carina would be worse off as a pirate girl, and, of course, out of a sense of his merciful nature caring dad!Barbossa left Carina at the orphanage. Barbossa then joins the navy. (thanks to everyone who pointed out my mistake)

Please bear in mind that I am not defending Pirates 5, just trying to clean up the mess. Add your thoughts and drink up me hearties, yo ho! ( @dhiatzs

Animated media that traumatised me as a kid:

I saw a lot of stuff in my youth that I found to be scary, but these are things that will to this day give me goose bumps if I think about them in the middle of the night. So here we go; here are my personal top 4 animated movies/shows that scarred me as a child. 8D

Moomin (1991-1992)

The Groke - UGH!! The scene below in particular scared the shEATTT out of me as a child!! And Sniff´s Finnish screams did not make the thing any less terrifying. But today, having read the Moomin books and all, I think the Groke as a character is more tragic than scary. (ノдヽ)

The ghost in the light house - The mere memory of this scene can make me cry. Not those “I’m so scared” tears, but those “Just thinking about ghosts” tears, if you know what I mean. If anybody knows what that phenomenon is called then send me a PM, I would love to know.

The Simpsons (1989-present)

More specifically these two:

Nightmare Cafeteria” - I loved the Halloween specials as a kid, eve though I might have been to young for them. But the story about the teachers eating the students left a very big (negative) impression in little me.

Terror at 5 ½ Feet”. There was simply something absolutely horrifying about this little monster to me. I was genuinely afraid of it. But what made the whole episode worse was how nobody would believe Bart when he tried to warn everybody about it. This story gave me nightmares for years.ヽ ( ꒪д꒪ )ノ

The Great Mouse Detective (1986)

In this case it´s the opening scene that really got to be when I saw this back in the day. The creepy atmosphere, the music, the shadow fight, the silence after the battle, the little mouse girl’s cries for her dad, and of course, this mothafukka. I would always hide under my blankest when the movie started. (O_Q)

Pagemaster (1994)

I saw this movie very few times when it came out, but the scene when Dr Jekyl transforms into Mr Hyde never left my mind. It was brilliantly animated and storyboarded, but maybe too well because I lost my shit whenever the movie got to this point. UVÄ!! Still gives me shivers!! DX

From what I can gather apparently my main fear as a kid was monsters of different kinds. That explians very well why I also hated “The Gremlins”. :o But today I would say that the paranormal (and fish) are the things I’m the most afraid of. :P

If you have your own horror stories to share then feel free to do so in the comments or make post yourself. Don´t forget to tag me in it so I can join the crying. ;D

_____________________________________________________________

You studied yourself in the bathroom mirror intently. You still looked the same.

Same (E/C) eyes, same (H/C) hair. But you weren’t the same, not after what had happened over the summer.

After that summer, nothing could ever be the same.

The girl in the mirror was you, but you had no idea who that was. On July 3rd of this year, your mother had told you a closely guarded secret about the circumstances surrounding your birth, the reason your mom had left riverdale, and who your father really was. She felt you finally needed to learn the truth.

You were a Blossom…well, sort of.

When Cheryl and Jason’s mother was pregnant with the twins, their Father, Clifford Blossom, had developed a wandering eye…and it had wandered straight to your mother. They had been together 2 months before your mother had found out she was pregnant.

So, your father had taken immediate action. He had paid your mother two hundred thousand to take you and herself far away and to keep her mouth shut.
But when your Grandmother got sick, all bets were off.

So your Mother had sat you down and told you everything. Including that you were moving back to Riverdale within the week, a town you had both left behind you, and for good reason.

The next day, Jason Blossom had gone missing.

Nearly 3 months later and here you were, getting ready for your first day of school at Riverdale High. It was terrifying having this huge secret weighing you down, especially when your newly discovered half sister went to your school.

You ruffled a shaky hand through your hair and walked out of the bathroom. The last thing you needed was added attention from being late on day one.

You left your house and stepped out into the warm September air.

You walked towards the school, the slight breeze making the residual summer heat a little more bearable.

When you got to the high school, it was swarming with teens. Each one in their own little world, greeting friends they haven’t seen in months with warm smiles and thankfully, ignoring you.

You wandered in to the school caught up in your thoughts and anxieties, before running smack into a blonde girl, her hair pulled back into a tight ponytail.

You lost your balance and went tumbling, taking the blonde girl with you. You hit the ground with a thud and she landed next to you right after. Face flushed red in embarrassment, you jumped up and started apologizing rapidly “Oh crap are you okay? I’m so sorry!“

The girl just waved a hand, dismissing your frantic apologies, “It’s fine, I’m alright. Don’t worry about it.“

Even with her reassurances, you still stuck out a hand to help her up, which she took and got up on her feet. You knew you had to be somewhere, but you still felt kinda awful.

"Hey, are you new?” the girl was looking at you with curiosity.

You shrugged, “Yeah I guess I am. My names (Y/N) (L/N)”

The blondes face instantly lit up in recognition, “I’m Betty Cooper, your peer mentor!” Betty gave you a warm smile, which you hesitantly returned “Guess it’s a good thing I ran into you then, huh?” you laughed nervously.

Betty nodded at you with a smile. “I guess it is. Anyways, now that I have you, just follow me. I’m also mentoring another new student named Veronica Lodge.”

You knew that name, everyone did. Her father had been in the news for months, but you decided to keep your mouth shut. It wasn’t any of your business who Veronica’s father was or what he had done. You hoped the sentiment would be a two way street.

You caught up to a raven haired girl at the office. Her and Betty exchanged pleasantries. You didn’t really listen to the small talk but you figured this was Veronica.

Betty and Veronica started walking. You quickly caught up and walked alongside them.

"Soooo…I usually start off my tours with a little history and context” Betty began, “Riverdale High first opened its doors in 1941 and–”

Veronica cut Betty off mid sentence. “And hasn’t been redecorated since, apparently. Honestly, I feel like I’m wandering through the lost epilogue of our town.” you smiled at Veronica’s comment. The school seriously did have a ‘vintage’ sort of air.

Veronica was talking again, “So whats the social scene here like? Any nightclubs?”

Before Betty could answer, a new guy with brown hair and a green sweater came up beside you, before moving in front, walking backwards to be face to face with the 3 of you. “A strip club called the Ho Zone, and a tragic gay bar called Innuendo.” Your lips quirked up at the edges at the ridiculous club names.
Green sweater continued his list of social activities.

“Friday nights, football games. And then tailgate parties at the mal-mart parking lot. Saturday night is movie night, regardless of whats playing at the Bijou. And you better get there early because we don’t have reserved seating in Riverdale. And Sunday nights? Thank GOD for HBO.”

Betty smiled as the boy wrapped a friendly arm around her shoulder, “Veronica lodge, (Y/N) (L/N), Kevin Keller. Veronica and (Y/N) are new here, Kevin is–” Betty started to introduce the three of you but was once again cut off by Veronica, “Gay. Thank god. Let’s be best friends.” She stuck a hand out for him to shake.

You gave him a smile and a polite “Hello” but Kevin’s attention was on Veronica.
Kevin took her hand and gave it a quick shake, before leaning in conspiratorially.

“Is it true what they say about your dad?” he said in a semi hushed tone. Betty shot him a warning glare and you inhaled a sharp breath. But Veronica just took it in stride, a noticeably more guarded expression on her face.

“That he’s the devil incarnate?…I stand by my father.“

She crossed her arms and gave Betty a pointed look, "Does everyone here know?” Betty and Kevin were silent, refusing to meet her gaze. “Judging by the looks you’ve been getting? I think so.” You blurted out before you could stop yourself.

Veronica gave an annoyed tight lipped smile, “Wonderful. Ten minutes in and I’m already the blue jasmine of riverdale high.”

Veronica stormed off and Betty gave Kevin another pointed look. Kevin shrugged and shook his head.
"What?” Kevin asked, but instead of answering, Betty just followed Veronica. You followed Betty, Kevin close behind.

By the time you had caught up to Betty, she and Veronica were already back to chatting about Riverdale Highs social calendar. So you just fell into step beside them.

“So there’s everything Kevin already told you and- oh, of course, there’s the back to school semi-formal dance this weekend–” Betty was yet again cut off by Veronica who grabbed her arm and stopped Betty mid stride with a little gasp of excitement. “There’s the hottie you were with last night. The red-headed Ansel Elgort.”

You leaned over to Kevin “If the boys all look like that, I’m going to love Riverdale.” You joked, Kevin responded with an amused snort.

Before you could continue your jokes about the attractive Riverdale male populace, Veronica was talking again. “Is he your boyfriend?” You were pretty sure the question was aimed at Betty but Kevin answered too,

“No we’re just friends” was Betty’s answer and "No, he’s straight.” was Kevins.
The three of you looked at Kevin, smiling in amusement at the mix up.

Veronica had an intrigued smile on her face as she watched Archie, “In that case, mind putting in a word? I’ve tried every flavour of boy but orange.”

By the look on Betty’s face you immediately knew that was a touchy subject.

“Actually, to clarify, Betty and Archie aren’t dating, but they are endgame.” Kevin informed Veronica, causing her to immediately switch gears and give Betty a matter-of-fact look. “You should ask him to the semi-formal then.”

“She should, but I heard it might be getting cancelled, because of what happened to Jason. They’re going to tell us at the assembly."

Your breath caught at Jason’s name, a bit of paranoia gripping at you. Did he know? There was no way he knew, nobody did.
"Who’s Jason?” you rushed out in a slightly too high tone. You figured asking who he was would let you play dumb about the Blossom family as a whole. Veronica added on, “and what happened to him?"

Betty and Kevin shared an awkward silent look, their mouths open like they were looking for the right words.

Betty was quiet as Kevin explained the July 4th incident, You knew already. You had googled the Blossoms two days after your mother had told you the truth of who you were. Just in time for you to learn of the fatal accident that took the life of an older brother you would never meet.

After Kevin was finished explaining, everyone was quiet as you walked to the gym to attend the assembly. A heavy silence hung over the four of you.
When you reached the gym you stopped dead.

Cheryl Blossom would be in this room. As Kevin reached to pull open the doors you managed to speak. "It’s awful what happened to Jason. I hope Cheryl is going to be okay…” three pairs of eyes were immediately on you, “None of us mentioned Cheryl (y/n), how do you know who she is?” Kevin asked, his and Bettys expressions were confused and Veronicas was suspicious.

You swore internally. “I heard one of the students talking about her earlier, I just put two and two together at the name Blossom.” You lied with ease. You had always been quick at thinking on your feet…even if you hated lying.

Betty and Kevin nodded accepting your answer, but Veronicas suspicious gaze lingered on you. You were going to have to be a lot more careful around Veronica Lodge.

Your group filed into the crowded gym. Pretty much all the seats were taken except 3 near the left bottom corner and a few singles scattered around. The four of you eyed each other awkwardly.
“You guys go ahead, I’ll be fine by myself.” You smiled at them. Betty looked relieved, and then a little guilty, “Are you sure (y/n)?” You nodded “Totally sure.”

Kevin grinned. “Catch up with us after, I’ll continue to be your designated Riverdale guide.”
“See you after.” you replied, before wandering off to find a seat.

You ended up sitting next to a guy with black hair and an odd grey beanie up in the back corner. He made no acknowledgement of you when you sat down, typing away at his laptop. He was definitely interesting, you could tell that. But before you could say anything, a girl with striking red hair had begun talking.

What she said next was lost to you, all you could hear was blood rushing through your head and your pulse pounding. That was Cheryl. It was so surreal, her being 40 feet away from you, with no idea who you were. You were strangers to each other, but still siblings. Still family. But she would never know. No one could ever know. You registered her asking for a moment of silence to reflect on how Jason had touched each of the students lives, as you tried to push away the onslaught of new and powerful emotions.

The boy next to you was watching you intently, silently observing your odd reaction to Cheryls speech. The way you were gripping the seat so hard your knuckles were turning white. When you looked back and him he diverted his gaze and went back to typing.

You managed to get a grip on yourself and calm down, the earlier aura of panic, switching to bored and collected with practiced ease. You bottled stuff up, always had. That was something that hadn’t changed.

Cheryl was speaking again and you immediately turned your focus to her.
“Thank you for that moment of silence. Many of you were lucky enough to have known my brother personally. Each and every one of you meant the world to Jason.”
Cheryls voice was calm and collected, which you thought was impressive for someone who had just lost her twin.”

But maybe Cheryl Blossom was just like that. You had no frame of reference.
“I loved my brother. He was, and always will be, my soulmate. So I speak with the confidence only a twin could have, Jason wouldn’t want us to spend the year mourning.”

The boy next to you fidgeted as Cheryl talked. You bounced your leg and tried to remain stone faced beside him. You glanced at him to see he was already looking at you. You figured it was just because you were the new girl. But his eyes seemed like he was seeing something more, trying to figure you out instead of just looking.

“Jason would want us to move on with our lives. Which is why I’ve asked the school board not to cancel the back to school semi-formal. but rather to let us use it as a way to heal collectively.–”

People all around you were cheering enthusiastically at the news about the semi-formal. Cheryl had a smile on her face that seemed genuinely warm and sincere.

“–and celebrate my brothers too, too short life on this mortal coil. Thank you all.” Cheryl walked off the small makeshift stage and exited the room.

You grabbed your bag and left through the side door as soon as the assembly was over. You had a spare block and decided to just get some air. You needed the distraction, the break.                                                                                   You sat down under a giant tree with, just enough shade to block you from the lingering summer heat. You grabbed your sketchbook and a pencil from your bag and flipped to a blank page.

You had no idea what you were drawing, you just let the pencil flick across the paper, creating lines. Pretty soon there was a familiar face staring back at you.

Cheryl.

Oaper Cheryl looked like she was scared and upset, angled away like she was running from something. You had no idea why you had drawn it.

You immediately ripped it out of your book and crumpled it up, setting it beside you to be thrown away later.
You had just started scribbling a quick sketch of a little bird that was flitting around on the ground in front of you when an unfamiliar voice startled you out of your bubble.

“So you’re an artist?”

You whipped your head around, looking at the boy from the assembly leaning against the tree.

You brought the sketchbook close to your chest defensively, “I’m drawing, so I guess I must be.” You eyed him apprehensively. “Who are you exactly?”

He shifted his laptop bag on his shoulder. “Jughead Jones. The Third. I sat next to you at the assembly.”

You raised an eyebrow in curiousity, “Jughead Jones the third. That’s…unique.”

He nodded once, looking at you expectantly.

“My names (Y/N) (L/N)–” you paused, a hint of a mischievous smile on your lips. “the first.”

Jugheads lips quirked up for a split second, before switching back to the calculating look he wore at the assembly.

“So (Y/N), you had a pretty strong reaction to cheryls speech. Did you know Jason?”

You instantly went on the defense. Your arms crossed against your chest and your expression became guarded. “No. I didn’t know anything about him before today.” you lied.

Jughead looked like he didn’t quite believe you, his eyes searching your face for signs of deception, and his expression was hard to read. You can almost see a little press cap and vintage camera. He reminded you of a reporter and that put you more on guard. “I just lost my best friend who was part of a pair of twins. I guess it just hit home.”

Another lie.

Jughead still looked a bit suspicious, but seemed to accept your lie for now. He opened his mouth to say something, but was cut off by Betty calling your name.

“Well, that’s my cue to leave.” Jughead remarked dryly before turning and heading in the other direction.

Betty walked over to you and greeted you with a smile. “Hey (Y/N), we didn’t see you after the assembly.”

“Yeah, sorry I just needed some air."

Betty nodded, her ponytail swishing behind her. "Well, do you want to join us for lunch?”

You smiled, one of the few genuine smiles of that day, “I’d actually love that.”
You packed up your stuff and reached for the balled up sketch from earlier, but it was gone. You hadn’t thought the wind was enough to move it today, but you figured you had misjudged. Not that it really mattered, people didn’t exactly inspect trash. You grabbed your bag and stood up to follow the two teens.

Betty and Kevin made a Beeline for the Red-headed boy from earlier, who was sitting alone at one of the picnic tables scattered around the courtyard. When the three of you sat down he looked up and greeted Betty and Kevin with warm smiles. His eyes were filled with confusion when his gaze landed on you.

Betty quickly introduced you, “(Y/N) meet Archie Andrews.”
Archie gave you a nod of acknowledgment “Hey”

You gave him a small smile and short wave in greeting.

Archie turned his attention to Betty and pulled out a laptop. He started talking but you weren’t listening.

Jughead was staring at you from across the outdoor seating area. You ended up staring right back. His eyes were locked with yours, both of you daring the other to look away. After about a minute Betty’s voice snapped you out of your weirdly intense staring contest.

“(y/n) are you okay? You’re kinda spacing out.”

You blinked a few times to clear your head. “Yeah sorry. Just daydreaming, I guess” You glanced back over to where Jughead had been but he was gone.

Betty nodded and looked at Archie, “Alright, now that (Y/N) is paying attention, you HAVE to play your song for us.”

Archie looked a tiny bit apprehensive but you didn’t think that has anything to do with you. It was the same feeling you get when people ask to see your drawings.
Archie sighed in resignation and hit play, a soft melody pouring through his laptops speakers. it was actually really good, something you hadn’t been expecting.

The song had only been on for about 30 seconds when Veronica walked up to the table,

“Can I join?” Veronica asked with a polite smile.
Archie closed his laptop, and Betty smiled at her “yeah.”

Veronica moved to sit down with the rest of you, “What are we doing?” Veronica asked.

A proud grin broke out onto Bettys face. “Listening to one of Archies songs.” She leaned closer to Archie.

“I thought we were gonna have to pretend to like it, but its actually really good.”
You grinned at Kevins comment. You actually had been dreading the possibility of pretending to like Archies song, you honestly didn’t have the energy.

“Yeah I actually really really liked it.” You smiled at Archie. You had really liked his song, and hoped one day you guys could actually hear the rest.

Veronica looked kind of confused as she shifted in her seat, “Wait, that was you singing something you wrote?”

Archie looked away “It’s rough.”
Betty, who was starting to sound like Archies personal cheerleader, contradicted him. “No, it’s great.” she said, that huge grin still on her face

You glanced away. Jeez, Betty had it bad for this guy.

“It’s incredible, actually. The little snippet I heard. Is that your thing? Music? Are you doing something with that?” Veronica asked Archie while Betty watched her with a weird expression.

Archie nodded and took a sip of his drink, “Yeah, that’s the plan.” He immediately changed the subject. “So, how’s your guys first day going? good?” this seemed to be directed at you and veronica. You didn’t really have an answer so you just let her answer as you shrugged.

“Not to be a complete narcissist, but I thought people would be more–”
Kevin cut her off, “Obsessed with you? Any other year you’d be trending number one for sure. This year though, its all about Cheryl trying to win the best supporting psycho Oscar for her role as Riverdale Highs bereaved red widow."

You bristled at this,
"She just lost her twin brother, Kevin. I think you’d be a little messed up too, especially in an accident like that.” Your tone was cold and a switch from the tables previous friendly banter.

An awkward silence fell over the table. Everyone looked a little uncomfortable at your comment and gave you curious looks. After a few moments Archie grabbed his bag “I should go. Meeting with Grundy, then football tryouts.”

Veronica smiled “You play football too? What don’t you do?” she quipped as Archie walked away from the group.

As soon as he was out of earshot you wiggled your eyebrows at Betty, “That right there is a damn good pick Betty.” She ducked her head in embarrassment.
Kevin looked at Veronica and you, “Before you guys ask, no she has not invited-”

Betty suddenly looked kind of panicked and shot the three of you warning stares, “No, not yet. and don’t talk about Archie.” then she quickly went back to nonchalantly eating her food as Cheryl Blossom herself approached your table.

Cheryl walked up to the table and put her hands on her waist, a sickeningly sweet smile on her face. The shock and panic from earlier had worn off for you, now Cheryl’s presence was just a fact.

“Veronica Lodge. I’d heard whisperings– I’m Cheryl Blossom.” Cheryl had that off-putting smile on her face the whole time she spoke. “May I sit? Betty, would you mind?”

Without waiting for a response, she sat down as Betty frowned a bit and slid down to the seat directly across from you and Kevin. You shot Betty a sympathetic look as Cheryl turned her attention to the rest of you. You noted that she hadn’t bothered to introduce herself to you, even though you were new as well.
“So, what are you four hens gossiping about? Archies efron-esque emergence from the chrysalis of puberty?” Cheryl had a conspiratorial smile and Betty shook her head as a warning for you and Veronica.

“Extracurriculars. Weatherbee wants me and (y/n) to sign up for a few.” Veronica switched the focus off Archie. At the mention of your name Cheryl finally acknowledged you, looking you up and down with a judgmental stare. You shifted uncomfortably under her gaze. Cheryl seemed to deem you not totally offensive and flashed that fake smile at you as a way of acknowledging your existence.
“Cheer leading! You must. I am senior captain of the river vixens.” Cheryl moved her hair to her other shoulder and watched Veronicas reaction intently.
“Is cheer leading still a thing?” Kevin said before Veronica could answer. You stifled a laugh at the statement and the almost genuine look of confusion on his face.

Cheryl fixed him with a cold stare, annoyance lacing her tone. “Is being the gay best friend still a thing?” She then turned back to Veronica and switched back to cheer leading.“Some people say its retro. I say its eternal and iconic.” She wore a proud smirk.

“At Spence, I sat at the top of the elites pyramid. I’m in.” Veronica said, then looked at you and Betty. “Betty, (y/n) you’re trying out too.”
You just nodded, you had no intention of trying out for cheer leading but weren’t going to say anything in front of Cheryl.

Cheryl looked at you and Betty, once again with that judgy stare, “Of course! Anyone’s welcome to try out.” Cheryl looked down at Bettys plate of food with disdain, “But Betty’s already got so much on her plate right now…And being a vixen is kind of a full-time thing, but open to all!”

You clenched your fists at your sides, your temper getting the better of you. Any sympathy you may have felt for Cheryl was rapidly fading.

Cheryl got up from the table and addressed you and Veronica, “Follow me on Twitter and I’ll do the same. my handles @CherylBombshell” and with a smile she turned and walked away.

Veronica smiled in relief as soon as Cheryl was gone. “Okay go ahead and hate on cheer leading but if Hipster prince Harry–”
Betty interrupted veronica, “Oh, I’d love to be a cheerleader. It would look good on my college applications. But, last year when I tried out Cheryl said I was too fat.”

“Too season 5 Betty Draper. It was a great line.” Kevin the looked guilty and amended with “But not all all true.”

Immediately your already flaring temper got the best of you, “Seriously? Is that what that plate crack was about? that was so rude and uncalled for.”
Kevin hummed in agreement and Betty nodded sheepishly.

“I agree with (y/n), that was a total bitch move. But you’re a total smoke show now, I mean it. As hot and as smart as you are…you should be the Queen Bae of this Drab hive…look, if you want to be a River Vixen, I’ll help you prep. I have moves. You too (y/n), we can all tryout together.”

You vigorously shook your head, “Thanks for the offer, but cheer leading isn’t my scene. I’m going to have to pass. I’ll totally come and provide Moral support though.”
Veronica looked a tiny bit disappointed but nodded in acceptance, “Alright (y/n) is out, how about you Betty?”

Betty looked deep in thought for a few seconds before smiling broadly at Veronica, “Okay, you know what? Show me your moves.”
You grinned at Betty, “I bet it doesn’t hurt that Archie will get to see you at the game, in your cheerleader uniform.”
Betty flushed a deep red and Kevin and veronica both laughed light heartedly. The rest of lunch period was passed in good natured teasing and friendly banter.

On the day of the semi-formal you were a lot more adjusted to riverdale, Cheryl was just the schools resident mean girl and Jason was just some boy who had passed away over the summer essentially they were strangers to you. It didn’t matter that they shared a common parent anymore, It was a secret that would be kept, and hopefully completely ignored.

You were walking home from the nearby 7-11 when your phone chimed with an unread text notification. You unlocked your phone and a text from Betty filled your screen.

’(y/n) do you need a ride? we’re going to the dance at 7’
You grinned at your phone.

‘we? meaning you and Archie? ;)’
a few minutes passed with no response before Betty finally answered,

‘We meaning Veronica, Archie and me.’
You frowned at the message, Betty had apparently lost her nerve.

damn :( but no, I don’t need a ride I live like 2 blocks from the school.’
You waited for a response but Betty never answered, You figured she had been caught up in some pre-dance prep or something, and continued on your walk home.

You arrived at your house a few seconds later and unlocked the door. An empty silence greeted you, your mom was away on a business trip.  Your mother worked as a freelance consultant for big corporations and had to travel alot because of it, so you were usually alone in the house.

Growing up you had a housekeeper that would take care of you, but she had died a few years ago. And by that point you were old enough to take care of yourself, so most of the time it was just you.
When your mother was home she would generally be with your grandmother at the retirement home, your grandma had developed dementia and wasn’t usually lucid as of late. But you weren’t close to her so it was harder on your mother than on you.

You shook the depressing thoughts from your head and wandered into the kitchen and put your bag down. It was around three and you still needed to do some homework before getting ready for the dance.
You grabbed the books from your bag and plugged in your headphones, starting on your latest English assignment.

-

Four hours later you were all dolled up and headed to the school, your heels clicked on the pavement as you walked, your hair was down and jostled lightly in the cool breeze.

You walked up to the schools front doors and could already hear music pouring from the gym. You walked in to see Betty standing alone.
“Hey, wheres Veronica and Archie? aren’t they your companions for the evening?”
Betty smiled a little sadly and opened her mouth to respond but was cut off by Kevin.

“Betty, (Y/n), You will not BELIEVE who just propositioned me in the bathroom. Give you a hint, his name may be moose…But I’d describe a certain appendage of his as as horse-like.”
You choked on a laugh at the description and put a hand over your mouth, “Oh man I knew one of the football players had to be gay, the small town gods demand it."

Betty was just speechless her mouth open in shock.

Veronica showed up a few seconds later, "Hey (y/n) when did you get here?”
You shrugged, “A minute or so ago.”

She nodded in acknowledgement and turned to Kevin.
“I need a dance partner.” Veronica Grabbed Kevins hand with a grin and led him out to the dance floor. They passed Reggie and Moose on their way while the two boys were filling a flask with punch.

Kevin gave Moose an awestruck look as they passed and Moose quickly averted his gaze, which made you start laughing all over again. Your laughter caused Betty to start giggling too. But your laughter was cut short when Cheryls voice came through the loud speakers.

“Good evening, friends. are you all having a good time?”
The crowd around you clapped and cheered.

“As honorary chairperson and de facto Queen of tonights semi-formal…it is my great pleasure to introduce this evenings main entertainment. To know them is to be obsessed with them. Though they usually perform their own material– tonight they’re making an exception…And debuting a cover of the song my parents claim they were listening to the night Jason and I were conceived, this ones for you, JJ.”

You raised an eyebrow at the song choice, it was a little odd to pick something like that. But before you could comment Archie came up to you and Betty.“Sorry about that…oh hey (y/n)”

“I give you Josie and the pussycats!” Cheryl finished right after Archie spoke.
More cheering erupted around you at the mention of the bands name.
Music filled the gym as a slow song was played by the girls on the stage.

Archie turned to Betty, “Wanna dance?”
Betty broke out into a wide grin and happily accepted, leaving you standing alone at the edge of the room.

You watched with a happy grin on your face as Betty and Archie Danced, smiles on their faces. But your smile was quickly turned into a frown as Bettys face grew serious and she removed her arms from around Archies neck. You couldn’t hear what they were saying but you knew it couldn’t be good as Archie looked away from her uncomfortably.

Betty looked upset as the song came to an end and her and Archie stood stiffly beside each other.

You caught up to Kevin and Veronica by the snack table.
“did you guys see Archie and Betty? That really didn’t look good.”
Kevin and Veronica nodded and shared your worried look but before you three could discuss further one of Cheryls friends came up, and invited Veronica and you to an after party at Cheryls

You were sitting on a couch next to Betty kind of uncomfortable and lost in your own thoughts as you stared intently at a picture of Clifford Blossom, yours and Cheryls father. It was surreal thinking about it, thinking about him, being in this house.

But Cheryls voice interrupted your thoughts.
“It’s game time at chez Blossom, kiddies. We’re going old school tonight Seven minutes in heaven. Who wants to tryst in the closet of love first? My vote is ‘A’ for Archie. Anyone care to second it?”

“Wait, actually–” Archie started to protest but Reggie cut him off.
YES! Andrews. yes.”

Cheryls smile was the sickeningly sweet one as she gestured for everyone to come closer. “All right, gather round kids. Lets see whos riding the ginger stallion tonight.”
She flicked her wrist expertly and the bottle began spinning, Betty and Veronica leaned in intently and you looked on gripped with fear for your friends, you knew Cheryl was up to something and it wasn’t going to be good.

The bottle came to a halt, pointing right between Betty and Veronica. You swore under your breath.
Oooh no way!” Reggie laughed, oblivious to the deeper problems at play.

Betty and Veronica shared an awkward look and Cheryl smirked triumphantly.
“Its clearing pointing to…the new girl. this should be fun.”

Veronica shifted uncomfortably in her seat, “Um, Im not doing this.”

“Thats up to you, but if you don’t…house rules decree the hostess gets to take your turn.” Cheryls tone was antagonistic, she knew exactly what she was doing to those three.

Instead of answering Veronica just looked defeated and Betty looked at Archie looking like she was about to cry.
They walked into the closet and shut the door, You put a hand on Betty’s shoulder and she just stared at the wall, her green eyes glistening.

10 minutes later they were still in the closet.

“Betty its okay, I’m sure Archie and Veronica would never do anything to hurt you.” You tried to reassure her.
Betty was silent and still.

Cheryl watched her with a predatory gaze, her tone was mocking and cruel “(y/n) is right Betty, I’m sure nothing is happening between them.” She smirked as a tear escaped Bettys eye and she ran from the room.

You glared at Cheryl. “Seriously?” your voice was sharp with anger, and you wanted to wipe that stupid triumphant smile off her face, but Betty was more important.

You ran out the front door into the cool night air, but Betty was nowhere in sight.
“Betty?”

No response.
You groaned in frustration and started searching for the blonde.

Nearly half an hour later you were out of options and everything in this town was closed, except a diner called pop tates, with a resigned huff you decided to check here too as a last ditch effort.

You walked in the building and were instantly hit with the overwhelming smell of food cooking and something sweet. But food wasn’t why you were here.
You walked up to the counter and were greeted by an older man with kind eyes and a warm smile.
“Welcome to pop tates. you new in town?”

You nodded and your gaze darted around searching for Betty.
“Yeah I am listen, have you seen Betty Cooper?”

The man chuckled, “No, not tonight. but you are the second person to come in looking for her.” He gestured towards Archie who was sitting in a booth talking to Jughead. You stormed over to him.

“Archie Andrews I am going to kill you. Do you know how much you hurt Betty going into that closet? You could’ve refused! It’s not like Cheryl had a gun to your head! Or at the very least you could have have come out after the 7 minutes! You knew Betty liked you! You knew and I’m guessing those extra minutes in there weren’t filled with an innocent chat.”

Archie opened his mouth to respond but you cut him off.

“Betty doesn’t deserve this crap. And with Veronica!

way to rub salt in the–”

Archie cut your angry rant off.

“I know I messed up okay?” he looked defeated and heartbroken. “I’m going to go talk to her. I’m going to go fix this.”

“You better Andrews.” you crossed your arms and fixed him with a protective glare, but let him pass.

Jughead was staring at you with a peculiar expression on his face you couldn’t tell what was going on in his head, you didn’t care, not at the moment.

“What?” your tone wasn’t accusing or angry, just tired.

He stared at you like he was seeing you for the first time.

“How long have you known Betty?”

You looked away and sighed, “I don’t know…a week?”

He nodded once and turned his focus back to his computer. You sat down in the seat across from him without asking and fixed him with a cryptic stare.

Jughead broke the silence, “Why?”

His question surprised you, and you just blinked.

“Why defend a girl you’ve only known for a week?” He pressed.

You sighed and looked down at your lap, your gaze refusing to meet Jugheads.

“I don’t know. people like Betty, she’s so kind and welcoming…Are so rare She accepted me and Veronica immediately. Even though Archie and Veronica had that spark, and she’s so head over heels for him…She still welcomed her welcomed us both treated us like friends. Then Veronica and Archie did what they did and hurt her so badly.”

You paused.

“This town already has enough hurting people.”

Jughead searched your face for a lie, or the hidden meaning behind your words. His Blue-green eyes met yours and you just stared right back, your face was neutral but there was a hint of sadness and Heaviness in your gaze.

You could tell he wanted you to explain further, and again you were reminded of a reporter. Digging at things that maybe should be left alone. And maybe you wanted to tell him…but you couldn’t.

You couldn’t tell anyone.

So, before Jughead had time to ask anything else, you stood up from the booth.

“I’ll see you around Jughead.”

And you left the diner, you walked home, and you went to bed.

7 years - BadBoy! Jeon Jungkook x reader - Part 1

Welcome to my first ever fanfic. Lmao not really sure what to say other than please enjoy. <3

Part 1 - Here  Part 2  Part 3  Part 4  Part 5  Part 6  Part 7  Part 8  Part 9  Part 10.1  Part 10.2  Part 10.3  Part 11  Part 12  Part 13  Part 14  Part 15

“Y/F/N?“ Upon hearing your name, you gazed up and made eye contact with your teacher.

"Present.” Sighing after he had moved on from you, you quickly snapped your eyes towards the scrunched up paper sitting before you. You really had no interest in opening it as you knew the general message but with the burning stare at the back of your head, you gave in and slowly reached for it. Upon opening the note, you were greeted with the typical message you tend to receive at least once a week.

'You’re still here? Wow what a stubborn bitch.‘

Whipping your head around to glare at the culprit, you found her simply smirking back at you.

 Hye mi.

She sat back satisfied with her daily deed done. Making people miserable is something she practically lived for, so you weren’t all too surprised. The sad thing was, you both were the best of friends back at the beginning of middle school and, as cliche as it sounds, it all changed when you reached high school. From the age of 12, cheesy promises to remain best friends were made and upon reaching the age of 16 it was all thrown away.

 Why?

To put it simply, Hye Mi was a bitch. A big one. She wasn’t always but when she began to value boys over friendship, something was bound to go wrong.

And it did.

It took no more than a week for her to drop you and develop the handy trait of bitch. She found new friends and apparently expanded her vocabulary as proven with the impressive handful of insults she directed at you and many other innocent students. Her main target was always you and it seemed like it would be for the rest of high school. She revelled in making your blood boil.

But you were not a weak girl, god no. Despite you being seemingly someone who is easy to pick on, you always stood your ground no matter who it was and that sometimes was your downfall, as your anger got you into bad situations every now and then.

“Right! It’s the end of the lesson, you are all dismissed. Don’t forget to bring in your slips of approval for the upcoming school trip. Jeon Jungkook, don’t you dare move from that spot!"

A groan escaped said boys lips as he slumped back into his seat. Jeon Jungkook. The schools 'bad boy’. The type to uselessly skip and sleep through lessons but manage to get the top grades in the class and linger outside in alleyways fighting with other school gangs or smoke with his friends.

You roll your eyes at his pathetic attempt to sneak out of the class. Same routine almost everyday. Gathering your things and stuffing them into your bag, you stood from your seat and began making your way towards the door. Except a figure stood in your way.

"Get out of my way Hye Mi.” She simply tilted her head whilst twisting a brunette lock of hair. Her brows furrowed whilst she looked you up and down and then proceeded to snicker.

"I see you’re still planning to become a nun, what with your skirt hanging low.“ Her ditsy friends giggled at her cringe worthy insult, boosting her ego and pride. You glanced down at your skirt that rested a few centimetres above your knees.

"Just because I don’t have my skirt riding up my ass like you doesn’t mean I’m going to become a nun. Plus, at least nuns have some self respect. You should learn from them.” A deep chuckle resonated from the back of the room and you noticed Hye Mi widen her eyes at the sound. Her cheeks began to burn crimson at the sound of Jungkooks laugh. You barged past her having said all you needed to and headed towards the lockers. Once you had finished up, you shut your locker and was greeted with an annoyingly familiar figure.

"Hey, Y/N.“ You let out a dramatic sigh. "Go away, Jin Soo. I don’t want to see you.” Another person you disliked was Jin Soo and what are the odds that he likes to make your life difficult too?

"You know if you weren’t so bitchy we could have actually been friends.“ You scowled at the sentence. He can’t be serious.

"Maybe I wouldn’t be so bitchy if you hadn’t taken it upon yourself to play with me and proceed to embarrass me In front of the whole school.” Back in 10th grade when you had lost Hye Mi, you seeked comfort and coincidentally Jin Soo came along. After stringing you along for a whole 2 months, he made a scene in the school lunch hall, yelling about how he 'didn’t appreciate the stalking’ and how he 'doesn’t want to come over when your parents were gone’. That gave everyone a reason to practically bully you for the next 2 years.

“You can’t still be salty over that! It’s been 2 years, get over it. Such a stuck up b-"

"Bitch? Yeah, being a bitch is my life goal so I’m not worried over that. Bye, hope you have a crappy day.” Spinning around, you marched out of the school and down the street.

 At least it was Friday.

 -

Your Saturday morning was spent shopping with your best friend, Areum. You met the same year you grew apart from Hye Mi and she was there to comfort you after the scene Jin Soo had caused. She was too kind to leave you in the secluded corner of the library, crying your eyes out. Ever since then you only grew closer.

"Jungkook was staring at you through the window when you left school.“ "And how do you know that?”

"Well, considering the fact we normally go home together I was looking for you in your class.“ You smiled sheepishly at the memory of leaving Areum behind.

"Sorry, I had the usuals on my case.”

"Understandable. But seriously, I think Jungkook likes you. He’s always nearby, analysing everything your involved in. To be honest, it’s kind of creepy…“ She trailed off at the sharp look you directed at her. You were not going to have any of this.

"Listen, he’s 'analysing’ so he can find the perfect way to piss me off. He already gets on my nerves with his sarcastic comments. Please don’t turn this sleepover into a typical 'girls night’” Areum sighed and threw herself on your bed.

"What do you suggest we do then?“ Glancing at your phone, you made a mental note of the time. "Well we could go to the shops to prepare for a midnight snack slash movie time.” Areum’s eyes lit up at the sound of that and she whipped back up.

"You really mean it?“ Nodding your head, you grinned at her. "It’s only eleven and the shops are literally down the road. As long as we’re back in an hour midnight snack time is still on. Go get your jacket."

Areum was gone faster than you could say 'you got no jams’.

 -

The walk to the supermarket was a short one and gathering the snack was even shorter. However, the walk back… not so much. You and Areum had only made it halfway back to your house before you spotted the subject of your earlier discussion.

He was leaning against the wall of an alleyway (what a surprise) with the rest of his friends. One of them, a mint haired coloured one who you were sure you heard some people call 'Suga’, was crouched down with a spray paint can in one hand and a face mask on.

 Not sketchy at all.

He was in the midst of spelling out BTS or something when a low whistle was heard. "Well well, what are you two doing out so late at night?” Surprisingly, this did not come from Jungkook but rather the one many called Jimin.

Everyone’s eyes suddenly turned to you and Areum. “Just keep walking Areum.” You sped up whilst Areum jogged to keep up. Just when you thought you had made it past them without any confrontation you heard Areum yelp.

Turning around, you noticed someone had grabbed her wrist preventing her from moving further. The name 'Hoseok’ briefly came to mind. However, your anger had already made itself present and your confidence had surfaced.

Marching right up to him, you grabbed his arm and all but ripped him off of Areum. He simply stared at you with an offended look. “We don’t have time for your bullshit. Bye.”

As you turned around to leave, a heavy weight latched onto you, a chin making itself present on your shoulder. “You’re such a cutie when you’re mad. I like it."

Turning your head, you were greeted with a boxy smile from Taehyung, a boy you shared classes with back in your fist year of high school.

"Get off me, Taehyung.” He simply pouted and shook his head whilst wrapping his arms around you tighter. “I don’t want to, I thought we were friends Y/N?"

"Well you thought wrong. Get the fuck off her Tae.” Jungkook was evidently pissed off with how he spoke to Taehyung. “Fine.” He unlatched his arms from around you and took a couple of steps back, his grin coming back.

You simply stared back at him and an awkward silence settled in. It was broken when the shaking of the spray can was heard and a heavy sigh.

"Fuck, this is why I sleep instead of leave the house. To avoid awkward shit like this.“ Suga then continued his piece of 'art’ and you took that as your cue to leave, grabbing Areum on your way.

"Don’t I get a thank you from saving you from this idiot?” Jungkook called after you whilst Taehyung let out an offended 'hey!’.

“Hey! Where’s my thank you?”

"Maybe when you stop wearing your ass as a hat.“ You replied, speed walking down the street. If you had bothered to turn around you would have seen the satisfied smirk that made itself present on Jungkook’s face.

Jeremy Corbyn: Empty homes owned by rich should be 'requisitioned' for Grenfell Tower residents

Jeremy Corbyn has called for the empty homes of rich people in Kensington to be seized for Grenfell Tower residents who have been made homeless by the fire.

The Labour leader said that the London Borough was a “tale of two cities” between a wealthy south and a rich north.

He suggested that “requisitioning” expensive vacant properties could help ensure that residents are housed locally.

The Government has committed to rehousing all those who lost their homes in the fire in the local area.

However Mr Corbyn said: “Kensington is a tale of two cities. The south part of Kensington is incredibly wealthy, it’s the wealthiest part of the whole country.

Sadiq Khan confronted by residents at Grenfell Tower

“The ward where this fire took place is, I think, the poorest ward in the whole country and properties must be found - requisitioned if necessary - to make sure those residents do get re-housed locally.

“It can’t be acceptable that in London we have luxury buildings and luxury flats left empty as land banking for the future while the homeless and the poor look for somewhere to live. We have to address these issues.”

It came as Theresa May announced a public inquiry into the blaze but faced questions over why she did not meet with residents, in contrast with Mr Cobryn.

Asked why she had not met survivors and those who lost loved ones, Mrs May replied: “Well, I visited the scene of this terrible fire this morning.

"I wanted a briefing from the emergency services. They’ve been working tirelessly in horrific conditions and I have been overwhelmed by their professionalism and their bravery.

"I heard stories of firefighters running into the building being protected from the falling debris by police officers using their riot shields. And we thank all our emergency services for the incredible work that they have done.”

Sadiq Khan, the Labour Mayor of London, faced an angry crowd as he was visited the scene of the fire.

He was confronted by a young boy who asked “how many children have died?” as he talked to an angry crowd at Grenfell Tower today.

The boy added: “What are you going to do about it?” The Mayor replied: “People are justifiably angry and I share their anger and I share their demand for answers.”

He was also heckled by a supporter of Mr Corbyn about his failure to back the Labour leader and there were suggestions that a bottle was thrown at him. More than 20 police officers rushed in to calm the crowd.

Nick Hurd, the fire minister, said that the fire was a “national tragedy” and no moment for “cool plodding democracy” as he vowed to leave “no stone unturned”.

It came as a new poll found that Theresa May’s poll ratings are now lower than Jeremy Corbyn’s were before the General Election.

A survey by Yougov found that the Prime Minister’s “favourability score” has fallen from plus 10 to minus 34. In the meantime Mr Corbyn’s popularity rating has climbed by 42 points.

It came as John McDonnell, the shadow chancellor, urged the unions to mobilise more than a million people to protest in London on July 1 in a bid to pressure Mrs May into standing down.

Romeo Must Die {Aaliyah’s first big screen role} is released 17 years ago today {March 22, 2000}.

It is Andrzej Bartkowiak’s directorial debut with fight choreography by Corey Yuen. This film stars Jet Li, Aaliyah, Isaiah Washington, Russell Wong, Delroy Lindo, Henry O, Anthony Anderson and DMX. RMD had a budget of $25 Million but successfully grossed $91 Million worldwide and made it to the #2 movie on US charts.

The film’s setting is Oakland, California, but other than a few establishing shots, film production was entirely in Vancouver, British Columbia. The original ending of the movie was of Aaliyah and Jet Li’s characters kissing; a scene that did not test well and was ridiculed by the urban audience at a pre-release screening. Jet Li stated they filmed both {with and without the kiss} and dediced against the kissing scene because it was “somewhat strange and awkward” for Han to have witnessed his father’s suicide and then to come out and kiss someone. The studio modified the ending with Aaliyah giving Jet Li’s character a tight hug instead – did they walk away holding hands? — . According to a Filipino American director Gene Cajayon, “Mainstream America, for the most part, gets uncomfortable with seeing an Asian man portrayed in a sexual light.”

“I tried to play a trick on Jet, but it didn’t quite work. We were supposed to kiss and hug in the last scene. Right before we kissed, I put in these really disgusting false teeth and tried to shock him, but he is so focused, he didn’t crack a smile!” Aaliyah says on a failed attempt to prank her costar on the set of Romeo Must Die. “He didn’t flinch until the camera shut off and then he laughed. He liked it, but I felt like such a fool. I planned it for the whole movie and then, I couldn’t pull it off”.

Aaliyah enjoyed wearing her fake teeth on the set and pranked many of her costars on the set. Even off the set, she would wear her fake teeth and prank her best friend Missy Elliott. “One time, she put these big fake teeth in her mouth, the kind you get at a joke shop, and she came into my room and started doing the scenes from Romeo Must Die. Her personality was very playful, but she was also equally caring and compassionate” – Missy Elliott shares on her fondest memory of Aaliyah with this false teeth.

Jet Li was asked what his reaction was when he found out Aaliyah died. His response: “She was a very sweet girl and she was very charming. When she was on the set, she brought a lot of energy; she made everyone happy and would sing all the time. I was in China working on Hero and I heard the terrible news, we lost a best friend. She is still living in a lot of people’s hearts.”  When Jet Li was in New York being interviewed on the TODAY show. He commented “I have some memories of this very beautiful city … but it still makes me think about Aaliyah. She was such a talented girl and some locations when you pass by every day, you still think about her”.

Okay so I know there has been a lot of buzz around the internet about the subject of LaFou, sexuality, and queer representation lately and now that I’ve seen the movie, I want to put in my two cents.

If you’ve been living under a rock for the last few weeks, many people have been talking about LeFou being gay and getting a “gay moment” at the end of the film. Vanity Fair put out an article calling the character “ a touching tribute” to Howard Ashman” Many of us LGBT+ folks are obviously not happy with this character, who is literally “the fool” being a bone that’s thrown to us. Many, including myself, where infuriated by the article because not only was Ashman the man who saved Disney from bankruptcy with hits like The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the beast and the formula he created is still successfully used by Disney today, he was a gay man who died of AIDS. So you can see why many of us think calling a villainous side character a “touching tribute” is a gross cop out on Disney’s part.  On the flip side, some christian parenting groups are made because our existence is acknowledged in anyway, even if the representation is bad. A theater in Alabama even refused to carry the film. Needless to say, many people had lots of opinions.

All that being said, I’m not here to preach to the choir, nor am I here to argue with anyone about whether of not LGBT+ people are are “appropriate” for a disney movie( hint hint we are) I really want to talk straight people who don’t get why LGBT+ people are upset. I need to share my personal experience with the movie to maybe help some people understand. I know I can only speak for myself, but here it is.

I’ll start off by saying, overall, I enjoyed the shit out of this movie. Beauty and the Beast was one of my favorite films as a child. I knew all the songs, I was Belle for multiple halloweens. I loved the over the top, Rogers -and -Hammerstien esque feel of the remake, i liked the bright colors, the songs and grumpy clock Ian McKellan. I want to get lost in how much I loved it. But every time LaFou came on screen, he was like a fly in the ointment, the irritating itch that kept me from enjoying this ridiculous spectacle for exactly what it was, because every LaFou scene was a gay joke. His mannerisms were carefully an explicitly coded to be recognized as those of a gay man, which are not a bad thing on their own but they were played for laughs and combined with a comic, pining-induced subservience to Gaston. He’s hangs on Gaston’s every word, he tells the girls no to waste their breath, he soothes Gaston’s temper. He’s a joke, one we have seen many times before, a weasely ,queer-coded villain. It’s supposed to be funny to us because we know this silly gay man is NEVER going to have his affections returned and all his work if for not.( ie he’s making a fool of himself, so he’s aptly named)  It’s something you get used to when you’re queer and grow up watching Disney films though, so for the most part, I rolled my eyes and tried to enjoy the scenery.

Until Gaston’s song started.

Now let me start by saying, that has ALWAYS been my favorite song in the film. I have a very naturally loud voice that carries and as a kid I loved to belt the shit out of it when it came on our Disney’s greatest hits CD. It drove my sister crazy on car trips. It’s so silly and it’s poking fun at this hyper masculine douche bag you’re not supposed to like. Luke Evans had been killing it up to that point and I was so jazzed about it.

And then, we get LaFou, lounging on Gaston’s chair, gazing at him longingly. Gaston looks at him and asks why the girls to love him and LaFou sighs dramatically, like the comedic stereotype they have set him up to be, and says he hears he’s been clingy.

And everyone in the theater laughs.

Everyone but me.

Because in that moment, everything snaps into alarming clarity. I am no longer immersed in the nostalgic euphoria of an actor I love about to preform a cherished piece of my childhood.

I am a joke and everyone it laughing at me.

Because that’s what it feels like, when you see someone like you splashed on the screen and their feelings being the thing that makes them laughable. When there mannerism that are directly coded to read GAY PEOPLE are the joke. You see the thing about sterotypes is, some of use have those traits. I am clingy as hell, a joke often made about wlw, which I am. I know effeminate gay men. I know people who have fallen in love with straight people. None of those things are inherently bad or make you a bad or shallow person  but somewhere along the way, straight people decided they made us wrong and decided to use those things against us and turn it into a joke. People in the theater were laughing about LaFou’s pining for Gaston, while I had lost friends because I was queer and some women don’t want to be friends with you if they think you’re going to fall in love with them. The rub of knowing this was a conscious choice on the part of the filmmakers. Why not have Cogsworth rush into the arms of a long lost husband, instead of Mrs. Potts? You can’t tell me Sir Ian wouldn’t have been all for that. You had two promient gay actors in this film, which was scored by a gay man and the best you could come up with the villain’s side kick who’s name means fool? Really?

And adding insult to injury, it wasn’t LaFou as a person that was the fool, his gayness MADE him the fool in the context of the film. It was his pining for Gaston, to try and impress him, that was played to make him look foolish. Do you know what that says to people? That being gay makes you a fool, it makes you a joke. I’m 27, I’ve learned how to pack that shit up and process later, but what if I had been 16? 10? What does that say to gay parents, sitting in the audience watching their child laugh because social cues tell them this thing is funny and you should laugh? What LaFou really says to LGBT+ people, to gay men especially, is that you are good enough to put in the labor, to make this beautiful thing(Ian McKellan and Luke Evans did great work as Cogsworth and Gaston and without Howard Ashman, there would be no beauty and the Beast.), but you are not good enough to be well represented in it.

So straight Disney fans, before you feel the need to tell us why we are “making something out of nothing” or that we should be “glad” for what we get, or that his half assed “redemption” arc or a single moment of him touching another man made it all better,  I need you to imagine sitting in a theater, and knowing everyone is laughing at you. Laughing at who you are, at the struggles you deal with. Imagine the things that have shaped you being watered down and played for comedy before you tell me what is or isn’t good queer representation.

Summary: Mark plays “Playground Insults” for a video

Warnings: Swearing yo

SOME OF THESE INSULTS ARE HARD

LIKE I MEAN THAT THEY ARE ROUGH SO I’M SORRY I MEAN NONE OF THIS ON AN OFFENSIVE LEVEL

I AM WELL AWARE THAT SOME MAY HAVE CROSSED THE LINE

_____

“Hello, everybody! My name is Markiplier and welcome… to this weeks video.”

Mark offered to the camera a joyous point, his words freezing in midair as he halted his voice.

The camera zoomed in awkwardly on his face.

“TODAY,” the brunette continued, camera panning back out “we will be playing Playground Insults.”

“Playground Insults is a game created by the lovely men on BBC Radio One.” Mark said “If you don’t know what the game is, I highly suggest you maybe look into one of their video’s. Right here. On youtube.”

Mark’s explanation was soundly finished as Ethan popped into frame from the right of the tanned youtuber.

“Also!” Ethan said “Special guest (Y/n) is here!”

At that mention, to the left of Mark, the said girl appear in the same fashion as Ethan.

“HELLO.” She called heartedly, throwing both arms high “Greatness, has obviously arrived~”

The shorter male in the middle scoffed and looked into the camera lens. He said:

“What are you talking about? I’ve been here the whole time.”

“And that’s why no one recognizes your greatness, you’re too easy to forget.” Ethan laughed back. This triggered a series of giggles from (Y/n) as she walked back to get some chairs.

“ruDE.”

❆   ❆   ❆

Mark and Ethan sat facing one another with hard faces. Neither were smiling, nor were either of them blinking.

“Okay,” said Tyler from behind the set up camera “Ethan can start.”

The dark blue backdrop that stood in the background of Ethan and Mark’s scene gave off a sense of maturity.

“Mark, there is a good chance that you are the reason your dad got cancer.”

Mark puffed his cheeks in restraint as he held back a laugh. He cleared his throat in a small manner and looked Ethan dead in the eyes.

“You are the real superhero of youtube, Ethan- specialty is the power of disappointment.”

Ethan let loose a louder snort like laugh and had to readjust himself as Mark chuckled as well.

“Well Mark,” Ethan finally began “you looked better with glasses.”

Mark almost lost it at that dumb remark. This process went back and forth for at least three more minutes before Mark had finally, truly, lost it. Ethan had called him youtube’s personal bitch. So because of that, the blue boy won.

After that duo, Ethan faced off with Tyler.

To no one’s surprise, Tyler won. A little bit because of the fact that Mark and (Y/n) laughing behind the scenes helped crack Ethan.

Next to face off, were Markimoo and (Y/n). The latter was quite confident in herself- and her ability to roast effectively.

“Alright so, since Mark lost against Ethan, he can serve first this time.” Came Tyler’s voice as he consciously readjusted the camera. Mark rolled his neck.

“(Y/n), you remind me of why I didn’t vote for Trump.”

(Y/n) pushed out an alarming short noise of amusement, covering her mouth quickly while Mark’s face remained cool.

“You know, sometimes I feel like saving that insanely annoying dog from your vocal chords.” was the girls comeback. It made Mark stutter an unsteady laugh.

Mark asked “Where do you… keep your diamond play button?”

(Y/n) inhaled sharply but was quick to return.

“If you ever look down and wonder why you have such a small dick, remember three quarters of it is shoved into your personality.”

Mark opened his mouth to say something back but promptly closed it again. He shook his head hardly- allowing a shallow smile to creep onto his lips. (Y/n) started to spit a laugh.

The brunette though, wasn’t quite done yet.

“You’re right. At least the other quarter is in your mouth at night.”

(Y/n)’s laugh hitched high. She sat silently laughing for several seconds before breathing in and regaining herself.

“At this point… if I ever wanted to go skydiving, I could jump from your arrogance to your youtube video standards.” she shot back, crossing her legs and folding her hands in a petty manner. She broke a little and giggled inwardly at her own joke.

Mark was sat pushing out several broken laughs before saying desperately:

“If I was trapped in your body for a day, the first thing I would do, is pay you a favour and get plastic surgery.”

(Y/n) smiled warmly and said back:

“If I was trapped in your body for a day, the first thing I would do is play with my boobs.”

That was it. That set Mark tumbling off the edge.

He laughed long and hard and so did (Y/n); his girlfriend praising herself for her perfect remarks.

“Ah- ah, you win!” Mark breathed, gripping (Y/n)’s palm in a handshake. She shook back and stood up with her boyfriend.

Mark reassured the girl with “I didn’t mean any of those, darling, I love you too much to say anything even close to harsh.”

“I meant everyone of those, sweet pea.” She commented in response, straightening her shirt.

Mark’s face flushed in surprise for about two seconds before realizing (Y/n) didn’t mean it. He laughed once more and said cutely.

“Shut up, you love me.”

(Y/n) smiled at him.

“I guess I kinda’ have to.”

So I haven’t been watching su since the whole Singing-Slavers-human-zoo debacle, but I’ve been ruminating over a bunch of stuff from the last couple of seasons and how peridot has been handled makes me really mad.

We know the crewniverse loves to “fix” people with relationships (whether or not we see any on screen chemistry). When they slapped lapis and peridot together, they “cured” them of their mental illness/neurodivergance. Sure, lapis gets an episode or two to act mopey and gets triggered by amethyst in another, but other than that, being in a relationship with peridot “cured” her. She’s all better now because instead of facing her problems now she’s just with peridot and that makes everything fine somehow. Everyone talks about that.

What I hear almost nothing about is how lapis has, apparently, “cured” peridot. When peri first came on the scene, she was cynical, analytical, reclusive and on top of all that she showed obviously autistic traits. In the last three eps I’ve seen her in, she’s lost all of her “negative” (read: obviously autistic/neurodivirgent) traits and become a sort of hyperactive art hamster or something.

It’s almost as if the new writers/storyboarders viewed her autistic traits as bad and just threw them away! °o°

the only one I see come up is her scripting/ecolalia and it’s used mainly as comic relief. Other than that, she’s become an upbeat, neon-green popsicle with no purpose other than “try not to say the J word around Lapis, plz” and it fucking sucks.

And we never mention that amethyst threw her limb enhancers (I.e. her accommodations) into the ocean. When it comes up in the show that she needs them, Steven is the only one who cares. Never in the show is any effort made to recover them, Steven just makes her some paint cans and everything is fine because Steven ‘bleeding-heart-liberal" universe can do no wrong. Amethyst also tried to chuck peri’s tablet in the ocean (see a theme here?) But because it made her metal powers work, ame is a big hero.

This show had some kindness to it at one point, but it’s all gone now. Instead of teaching kids to stand up against even the most mild injustice or showing how teamwork and clear communication are what make friendships and other relationships work, now they’re telling kids to listen to the bigot’s side of things and to be sensitive to that “opinion” even if you have the means to help the people it hurts (like why was no one worried about any of the people in the zoo? They had literally all of security on their side and they didn’t try to do a damned thing about those enslaved people!).

TL:DR su has gone rotten. It puts forth bad/abusive relationships as a cure all (especially for things that should never be treated like they can be cured {e.g. neurodivergance}) and espouses straight up racism.

P.S. the new Lars was super fucked up. He puts it best himself: “ I was acting weird all day and everyone just LIKED IT?!” I love how this show teaches kids to violate people’s bodily autonomy because they’re not happy, positive people all the time. It feels like there’s so much eugenics hiding in su and it’s made me really uncomfortable for a long time

Happy New Year!

Let’s ring in the year 2017 with a kiss…

But not just any kiss: a Reylo one! <3 <3 <3

I commissioned this stunning artwork from the amazingly talented @panda-capuccino. It came out way better than I could have ever imagined! Thank you so much for doing this Panda!

This is the kiss after they say “I do.”

It’s a scene from the Reylo fanfic Mitzvah, where Kylo Ren and Rey discover they are betrothed and end up getting married :D The fic is amazing and comes highly recommended if you like lost princesses, arranged marriages, and a slow burn that’s also canon-compliant!

fucking--gorgeous  asked:

Could you give some tips on chapter pacing? Specifically, I'm wondering if it's too confusing to have chapters pick up immediately or very shortly after the last left off. (I'm writing YA and really doubt anybody wants 12k word chapters, but of course I don't want my readers to get lost.)

There’s a few different ways to handle pacing. Personally, I’ve put my own twist on the scene/sequel method. Google “scene sequel”, read through a bunch of those results, and see what speaks to you.

Since I struggle with pacing, I came up with my own hack because

  1. I don’t write in order, and,
  2. I hate writing formal outlines.

It’s a combo of scene/sequel and good old plot diagram because overstuffed chapters are a symptom of an overstuffed plot for me. I’m going to use my screenplay as an example because it’s what I’m working on, but this also works for novels and short stories.

First, think about how many pages or words you want your piece to have. It’s a little different for every genre, so use what’s appropriate for your story. In my case, I wanted my script to be 94 pages, so I made three folders for the beginning, middle and end, and included a target page count.

Yes, those numbers add up to 101 pages, but Scrivener adds a lot of white space it removed when it compiles screenplays so I accounted for that.

Next, I knew my inciting event should happen within the first 5 pages and the midpoint would have to be around page 47, and so I put little flags in to represent them.

If you’re writing a story, you might want to break down that first chapter a bit more so you can know you need to hit the inciting event by say, page 4.

With those guidelines in place, I write. When I want to check my progress, I select the pages and look at the page count in the bottom, using the flags as the measuring stick.

If you don’t use Scrivener, you can do something similar in your word processor of choice. Make a bit of text like ===END STARTS HERE Page 120=== or ===MIDPOINT STARTS HERE 75=== OR using headings/styles if you’re comfortable with those. Whatever you choose, be consistent! When you want to check where you are, “find” (command or control F depending if you’re on Mac or PC) the ===, and it’ll take you to that page.

Page count would likely be easier if you’re using this as a guide for your rough draft, but word count may be easier if you’re using this to generate your revised draft.

Don’t be afraid to experiment and see what works for you.

On the deck of the Argo II, Percy and Jason stood together, their swords crossed. Annabeth got a tingle down her spine as she realized the boys were working together, summoning the sky and the sea to do their bidding.

-Mark of Athena

I’ve been wanting to draw this scene for a while now, so here’s my rendition of it, along with a close-up so you can better see the characters. I think Percy and Jason came out alright (:

One Day

I felt sad today. I’ve felt down a bit lately, but it was hard to describe why. I figured it out this afternoon.

I’m on my fifth rewatch of the first season of One Day at a Time on Netflix. I haven’t watched something this intensely since Buffy the Vampire Slayer which is funny considering Elena and several episodes in the latter half of the season. On the surface, yeah, I get that I like it because I’m gay and a writer like Elena. I come from a Latin, military family with religious parents. While I’m not Cuban, or Cuban American, there’s enough similarities to Mexican culture that I heavily relate. And I get to hear people who sound like and look like me and my family. Hearing Spanish spoken on TV without any subtitles is thrilling. People will go out of their way to learn Elvish or Klingon but for some reason won’t take the little computer they have in their pocket and google what a few words in mean in Spanish. Hopefully now, they will. And that’s a good thing. It’s estimated that in the next decade a whole quarter of the United States will be Latino. We’re here. Get over it. A wall’s not keeping anybody out.

I thought at first that this was why I was sad. And obviously, the way the president talks about Latinos and Mexicans doesn’t help. It furthers falsehoods and stereotypes that are wrong and dangerous. It helps people make assumptions instead of asking genuine questions. I’ve heard people in the past talk about us like we’re rats.

“Oh, I don’t want to go over there. There’s too many Mexicans.”

“Did they finish cleaning yet? I don’t mind if they’re here, I just don’t want to see them.”

Because I’m not what most people picture when they think of a Mexican or the child of a Mexican immigrant, people assume I don’t speak Spanish. I hear many an interesting thing when this is the case. This is also what I have to guess is responsible for someone assuming at the grocery store that my mother was my nanny when I was seven. This one is particularly damaging and still makes me upset. In the eyes and mind of this person, why couldn’t she have just been my mom?

So anyway, because of the state of the world I’ve been escaping. RuPaul’s Drag Race came back for it’s 9th season and that helped. Say what you will about Valentina, maybe she isn’t perfect and sweet, but when she came out on the runway in a traditional mariachi suit and the following week sashayed down the runway looking like the most beautiful Telenovela bride you’ve ever seen, I cried. I’m not exaggerating when I say this. As a kid, I had no gay Mexicans to look up to. It would be years before Justin Suarez showed up on Ugly Betty and by then I was an adult. On Drag Race, traditional Mexican beauty was being shown and broadcast to America. They heard the words: Aguas Calientes.

So with One Day at a Time, well, I can’t stop watching it. And for a comedy it’s incredibly sad and emotional. In the episode “Viva Cuba” Lydia (played by Rita Moreno) reveals a family secret about when she left Cuba that I won’t spoil for you. It’s so well written and acted that I’ve cried every time I’ve seen it. When she scene begins she’s looking at old family photos from when she lived in Cuba. She looks sad and lost in thought.

And then it hit me.

I’d seen my mother do the same thing. I’ve heard my mother cry over missing her family members, and people she never got to see again after she left Mexico and came to the United States. My mom’s circumstances were different, she wasn’t fleeing Mexico like Lydia was fleeing Cuba, but I understood that while this country became my mother’s permanent residence, it was never really her home. I can only assume it took me this long to realize it because now as an adult, I often feel like there’s a part of me that’s missing too. This is what my mother felt. Constantly.

I’ve been to Mexico City, Amecameca, Cuenavaca, San Miguel de Allende, Cabo San Lucas, Monterrey and had addresses/lived in Querataro, Ixtapa, Zijuatanejo and Villa De Los Flores. I list these off because it’s more cities than I’ve visited or lived in in the United States. I was raised speaking Spanish by both of my parents and taught to be proud of my culture and heritage. But for the past 11 years I’ve lived in Portland Oregon. Don’t get me wrong, I love Portland most of the time, but I never speak Spanish here. I hardly ever get Mexican food unless I make it and I am rarely around other Latinos.

I miss Mexico and sometimes New York and Los Angeles because there were more people like me there. No wonder I spent all day in Santee Alley on a recent trip to Los Angeles.

I haven’t been to Mexico in a very long time. It’s a part of me. It hurts when people say I’m a fake Mexican, or I’m too white to be Mexican, or I wasn’t born there so I can’t claim to be Mexican. None of that is true, so I brush it off, but it’s my dream to visit again. I miss my grandmother. I miss her food. I miss the sounds and the smells and the beautiful architecture. I miss the people. I miss the art. The striking colors everywhere you look. It makes sense why I’m obsessed with The Wizard of Oz. Boise was brown and gray and dull for me. Mexico was vibrant and full of life.

This piece of me, this part that’s missing, it’s difficult to pour something in there and fill it up. I found a small community of Latinos here, a group that I’m attempting to be more a part of. And while I live in Portland, I continue to work on comics and write more stories that feature Latinos and Mexicans. It’s important to me. I needed characters to connect with when I was younger. I needed to see that. Now as an adult I’m creating that. But my heroes are writers and artists who are doing the same. Salma Hayek for producing Ugly Betty. Jenny Lorenzo for her amazing comedy videos that have brought me so much happiness this year. And Gloria Calderon Kellett for bringing so much visibility to Latinos, Latino Americans and LGBT Latinos at that. The three graphic novels projects I’m working on right now all feature Latinos and Latinas.

I want the world to see Latinas who aren’t stereotyped as sexy, or as the maid. I want them to see Latinos who aren’t preoccupied with being macho. I want them to see Latinas that are brave and strong and smart and Latinos who are sweet and sensitive. We are rarely portrayed this way, but we sure are on One Day at a Time.

I think writing and creating stories and characters is what I’ve been doing to try and fill that void. One day I’ll get back to Mexico but until that time, or the time I get to continually use my Spanish, I suppose it’ll have to do.

That, and looking through my childhood photo albums.
