and then cleanup takes at least half an hour

Cleanup crew.

I finally looked at the pictures I tried taking of the turkey vultures the other day (featuring MAXIMUM CAMERA ZOOM) and I was pleasantly surprised to find they weren’t just indistinct black dots. These are the result of about half an hour of inching closer and closer trying not to spook them off, and with the last one I was still about twenty yards out. There were only about a dozen on our property when I was out trying to get pictures, but by the time the park director got home a few hours later there were at least thirty, all dutifully working on getting rid of what was left from the dead I brought home for processing the other day.

I love and appreciate these birds, and I leave them leftovers whenever possible.
